Thane: Massive Fire In Dombivli East Guts 29 Two Wheelers, Five Residents Injured

Panic gripped residents of Ravikiran Society in Cheda Nagar, Dombivli East, after a massive fire broke out in the basement parking area of the building in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 4:15 am, when most families were asleep. The residential complex, located near Jai Bharat School in the Sagaon area, was suddenly engulfed in thick smoke after flames erupted in the two wheeler parking zone. Within minutes, the fire intensified, spreading rapidly across the tightly parked vehicles. Twenty Nine Two Wheelers Destroyed According to News 18 Marathi, local officials said that as many as 29 two wheelers were completely gutted in the blaze. Residents described hearing crackling sounds followed by dense smoke seeping into stairwells and corridors. The intensity of the fire caused panic among occupants, many of whom rushed out of their flats in the dark. In the chaos, five residents sustained injuries due to smoke inhalation and minor burns. Some of the injured were admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable. Eyewitnesses said families gathered in the open compound outside the building, watching helplessly as flames rose from the basement. Fire Brigade Acts Swiftly On receiving information, the fire brigade rushed to the spot with multiple personnel and equipment. Firefighters battled the blaze for a considerable time before bringing it under control. Their timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to the upper floors of the building. Officials confirmed that the structural integrity of the building remains intact, though the basement suffered significant damage. Cause Under Investigation The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Preliminary speculation suggests a possible short circuit in one of the parked vehicles, but authorities have not confirmed this. A detailed inquiry has been initiated to ascertain how the fire began and whether safety norms were followed in the parking area. For residents of Ravikiran Society, the early morning inferno has left behind charred vehicles, shaken nerves and a lingering sense of fear.

The blockbuster Group A encounter is scheduled to be played in Colombo, but weather forecasts suggest showers could interrupt or even prevent play. According to the playing conditions set by the International Cricket Council, a minimum of five overs per side must be completed for a T20 match to produce a result. Reserve days are usually kept only for the semifinals and final. So if rain washes out the game completely, it will not be replayed on another day. If the match ends with no result, both India and Pakistan will get one point each in the group table. That could still keep both teams in a strong position to qualify for the next stage, depending on their other results and net run rate. If some overs are possible but rain interrupts the match, the result can be decided using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. But if conditions do not improve enough to complete the minimum overs, fans may unfortunately miss out on one of crickets biggest rivalries this tournament.

Mumbai Airport Taxi Scam: Cab Duo Arrested for Duping Wadala Couple Of 3,300 (1,000 Thai Baht)

Mumbai: A couple from Wadala was allegedly duped by two cab drivers shortly after arriving at Mumbais international airport. The incident, which took place on February 8, resulted in the accused fleeing with 1,000 Thai Baht (about Rs3,300) from the unsuspecting passengers, far exceeding the Rs400 fare agreed upon. According to police, Darshan Sawant, 29, a fitness trainer, and his wife Monica exited the terminal at 12.45 pm after returning from a trip to Thailand. As they searched for transport to their residence in Wadala, an unidentified man approached and offered them a taxi. After brief negotiations, they agreed at Rs400 to Wadala Fire Station in Antop Hill. Mumbai Crime: 23-Year-Old Stabbed To Death In Bhandup East Over Minor Dispute; Accused On The Run The man then led them to a taxi and instructed the driver, later identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad, 34, to proceed. Another person, Riyasat Ali Khan, 48, also got into the vehicle with the couple. The alleged fraud unfolded soon after the taxi began moving. A short distance into the journey, Khan instructed Ahmad to stop and demanded immediate payment of Rs400. When Sawant said they did not have Indian currency and offered to pay via Google Pay, Khan refused, insisting on cash. Upon learning that the couple had Thai Baht, Khan suggested they pay 200 Baht and assured them he would return R s200 in exchange. As Monica opened her wallet, which contained 1,100 Baht, Khan allegedly seized the entire amount. According to police, he removed 1,000 Baht, handed Rs400 to Ahmad, and quickly exited the taxi, leaving the couple to continue their journey. Only after reaching their destination did Monica check her wallet and realise that 1,000 Baht, not the agreed 200, had been taken. After discovering the alleged theft, the Sawants noted the taxis registration number and filed a complaint the next day. Acting on their FIR, Sahar police arrested Ahmad and Khan. Mumbai Crime: Dindoshi Police Arrest History-Sheeter For Cheating SRA Agent Of 57 Lakh Using Fake Police Influence Claims Authorities have seized the taxis and initiated proceedings with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to cancel their permits and driving licences. Investigators are also examining whether the duo used similar tactics to target other arriving passengers. The case mirrors another recent incident at the airport. Last month, two cab drivers Yashraj Yadav alias Pappu, 50, and Mohammad Taufiq Shaikh, 39 were arrested for allegedly charging a US national $200 for a 400mt ride to a hotel. The accused remain in judicial custody as police continue efforts to curb such practices, particularly those targeting international travellers unfamiliar with local currency. Real To Reel! How True Events Are Turned Into Bollywood Blockbuster

Along with the biopics, we now have a substantial assembly of movies that are based on real happenings and events, not necessarily only the patriotic kind. Some overlap with the biopic genre, as they primarily focus on one lead character, like the Kesari franchise , Maidaan, Haq, Ikkis or Gold . But most such films, like the recent Dhurandhar and the forthcoming Hum Hindustani (on the first-ever Indian general elections held in 1951), are more about specific happenings, whether within a short while or over a long period (as in the former movie). Films like Border, Superboys of Malegaon, The Kerala Story, Talvar, No One Killed Jessica, Mission Mangal, 83, URIThe Surgical Strike, The Ghazi Attack, Jolly LLb, Special 26 and Maharaj present real-life sagas across genres. Creation, Research and Dramatization How do filmmakers conduct the research needed for such projects, that may cover patriotic (war, espionage or unsung heroes), political, sports or social events? Says Vivek Agnihotri, who has directed reality-based sagas like Buddha in a Traffic Jam, The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files, The Vaccine War and The Bengal Files , We have a very good research team and we spend two or three years on it, doing primary, secondary and tertiary levels of research. He explains, Primary is when we meet the people who are or were directly involved. Secondary means authentic documentation, including government documentation and literature available, while tertiary refers to those who were indirectly involved, or newspaper items and all that. How then is the script written from all the collected material, keeping a healthy balance between characters and the story? I try to keep my films as authentic as possible, and nobody in the world can say that the key points are wrong or not real. In fact, in these five films I have made, I challenge anybody to say that what I have shown is not correct or factual! But what about the necessary dramatization? We have to do it as we are not making a documentary. But that should also be done around facts and reality. But in the primary research, has it been ever found that someone is not telling the truth, or is exaggerating? Everything we show has to be collaborated with the literature, history and documentation! he assures. Says Rahul Dholakia, who is directing Hum Hindustani , Research is something that gives authenticitythe knowledge, detailing, the insights come from it as well as the satisfaction of filmmaking. Meeting as many people related to the event you are showcasing is important. For my Lamhaa based on Kashmir, I met militants, the victims, the social workers, the army, the CRPS officers, the activists and journalists. I actually saw how firefighters work for even my fictional Agni . You get a perspective, read books and visit the locations. What you get may be truth or fiction, some aspects you may dramatize or just take one incident. Apoorva Lakhia is now helming Battle of Galwan , another real story, and was unavailable at the time of going to press. But I recalled Lakhia, then directing the incident-based movie, Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), telling me, When I did more research to widen the canvas of the film and prevent it from being just a docu-drama, I even found connections with the 1980 Khalistan movement and the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. I found various rumors that came up and even within the building where it all happened, we heard different versions from different people. When such things happen, Agnihotri says, I find it important to show both sides. In The Kashmir Files , for example, there is a difference in what a professor in JNU told us and what an officer in the government said, so my job was to show both, as both were right in their own ways, and let the audience decide. The actors point of view Pratik Gandhi, who essayed Harshad Mehta in the web series, Scam 1992 as well as Jyotiba Phule in Phule , says, I agree that biopics about a specific persons life overlap as a genre with a film like Hum Hindustani , as all show key events and are largely similar, though the latter is event-specific. But my approach is that I keep reminding myself not to judge my characters! Events can be seen from multiple angles and we can derive multiple outcomes and conclusions. He adds, With Hum Hindustani , there were so many odds and challenges that free India was facing in 1951 as there were mixed emotions. We had to focus on transporting the audience into that world. The research available only increased my responsibility in all these cases and made me more sensitive. But I feel that actors have only limited power, restricted to create the emotions needed! At 80, Kabir Bedi Says He's Busier Than Ever The commercial angle Obviously, every such movie is not successful or even critically appreciated. The key, says veteran exhibitor and distributor Raj Bansal, is the connect any film makes with the audience. Earlier, films were primarily about entertainment, but now our hit ratio is lower than 10 percent. Even reality-based filmsand more are being made now than ever beforeshould somehow be more about entertainment and value for money, which Dhurandhar is! A near four-hour movie was so engrossing that one felt it ended too soon! Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, however, feels that realistic films across genres need to come out. But they must be made with the right balancing act between reality and necessary dramatization. We should not add masala so much that we deviate from core events with unwanted sequences, he says. Adarsh adds, Success depends thus on the proper flow, and the right assessment of the story chosen for filming. A lot of such ideas sound interesting on paper, but cannot be translated on screen. Overall, therefore, it is the final product that works or fails. But this genre is important in an era when people are deviating to better cinema and reality-based stories. Here, Bansal adds a key point about the selection of subjects, scale and face-value (the cast et al ). Ideally, many such films can be released on OTT, like an Ikkis . If not, the tickets for such movies should be kept at a moderate price. At the end of the day, the audience should feel happy about spending their money and cannot spend big money on every film. So, real or reel, the bottom-line will remain audience approval.

Island Hopping Drift: This Maldives Journey Will Change How You Travel

Late last year, as 2025 softened around its edges, I travelled through the Maldives with a group of friends, six of us moving together through light, water and time. Over six days and three all-inclusive resorts, we learnt the quiet intimacy of shared escape mornings that began without words, laughter carried across lagoons, and the rare luxury of being fully present, not alone but deeply accompanied. Big Island Energy! Our journey began at Siyam World, the largest resort in the Maldives, reached by a seaplane flight from Velana International Airport that skimmed low over scattered cerulean-hued atolls before descending beside a vast, self-contained island. From the outset, scale defined the experience. Paths stretched long, Mini Moke cars zipped past, bicycles leaned casually against villas, and movement felt encouraged rather than contained. Days unfolded with choice at their center. We drifted between lagoon swims, the Maldives largest floating waterpark, snorkeling sessions, and long lunches that never seemed to require planning. The WOW All-Inclusive plan removed all friction, allowing us to eat by impulse Maldivian dishes at Kaage, Indian comfort at Kurry Leaf, Japanese plates at Arigato, Italian evenings at Del Mare each meal part of a seamless circuit rather than a scheduled event. Nights were where Siyam World surprised us most. Cinema by Moonlight took place on a gently drifting dhoni , the traditional wooden Maldivian boat, where The Holiday played beneath a sky heavy with stars. Champagne glasses caught the light as the boat rocked softly, the film unfolding in an intimate way that can only be shared with friends. On another evening, a movie screened directly on the beach, waves threading quietly through the soundtrack. Siyam World thrives on energy, but it understands how to slow it when needed, and by the time we left, we carried a buoyant sense of having truly lived inside the island. A softer pace A short boat ride brought us to Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, and the shift in atmosphere was immediate. Spread across a lush 52-acre island, Iru Fushi feels expansive yet inward-looking, its wide beaches edged by dense greenery, its villas positioned for quiet rather than display. Here, time loosened. Mornings began slowly, coffee taken on decks facing open water, followed by snorkeling over Nemo Reef or long stretches by the adults-only infinity pool. Afternoons slipped away without notice, shaped by shade, water and the absence of urgency. Dining mirrored this gentler rhythm. Evenings lingered over French cuisine at Flavours, Italian comfort at The Trio, or Indian flavours at Taste of India, each meal part of a dine-around experience that encouraged staying longer than planned. Conversation stretched naturally, courses arrived without rush, and the island seemed to absorb sound rather than reflect it. The Spa by Thalgo became a quiet anchor to our stay. Marine-based treatments, hydrotherapy rituals, and shaded walkways created a sense of recalibration, as though the island was gently resetting internal clocks. Iru Fushi excels at balance families and couples sharing space without friction and when we left, it felt like stepping back into motion after a long, necessary pause. Life on the lagoon Our final stop was Sun Siyam Olhuveli, reached by a short flight and transfer, and immediately defined by water. Spread across three interconnected islands Main, Dream and Romance Olhuveli is shaped by movement between spaces, with bridges hovering above bright lagoons and activity unfolding in every direction. Days here felt communal. Mornings drifted from breakfast to poolside lounging, afternoons were claimed by windsurfing, kitesurfing, or simply floating in a lagoon built for lingering. With eight pools, including the Maldives longest, there was always space to gather without crowding. What Is A Basque Txoko? Inside Spains Private Dining Club Dining played a central role in drawing people together. Beachfront grills, overwater restaurants, Indian dinners at Namaste, Thai evenings at Siyam Orchid, and sunset drinks at Dhoni Bar created a steady rhythm of meeting and parting. Evenings felt social without ceremony. Cinema returned for a final time, this time on the beach, where Find Me Falling played beneath an open sky. Plush beanbags replaced seats, sand replaced flooring, and conversation resumed the moment the credits rolled. It felt fitting that our last shared film was watched together, the sea steady just beyond the screen. By the end of six days, what stayed with me was not just the clarity of the water or the generosity of the stays, but how distinctly each resort shaped our time in the Maldives. Siyam World encouraged motion and play, Iru Fushi offered stillness, and Olhuveli brought everyone back into shared experience. Together, they formed a journey that felt complete and, if Im being honest, very hard to see the end of ( The writer is the Editor of Fresh, a food and lifestyle magazine)

Are Skillcations The Future Of Travel For Young Indians?

Mumbai resident Anjali Pednekar (26) travelled somewhat differently for her first solo trip than her friends had imagined. She signed up for a surfing lesson on the western coasts of India for a 10 day course, for a vacation between two jobs, all alone. I was always afraid of the sea so I knew I had to do something that deals with my fear in a structured way. Surfing was the best thing I could have chosen and being alone helped me not be coddled but push on to actually learn the balance needed to surf the waves, she told FPJ. For Pednekar, scuba and underwater courses needed more money but surfing on the coast of Udupi was doable by staying in budget-friendly homestays. From surfing to seaweed farming, pottery to linguisticstravel is increasingly being propelled by the hunger to learn as young Indians open up to the concept of a skillcation. These are trips where travelers can seek immersion in new cultures through a craft, a tangible skill that adds value to your life rather than your resume. Whether it is the art of fabric dyeing or simply writing better by attending retreats led by literary guides, or understanding agricultural practices that have sustained communities for generations, skills have always quietly fueled our desire to explore. But 2026 marks the moment this style of travel becomes a defining wave, replacing passive with purpose. Paper Making at FS Chiang Mai Hilton's Travel Trends Report 2026 reveals a striking shift, where 70% of family travellers are now seeking experiences that connect them to local traditions. Notably, 66% of travelers are actively pursuing cuisine they've never tasted or cultural practices they've never encountered before, marking an end to the era of passive tourism and aimless sightseeing. Travellers like Pednekar are increasingly choosing journeys where discipline enhances relaxation, where learning becomes the luxury, and where travelers return home not just rejuvenated, but transformed. From Escape to Evolution People are travelling less frequently but far more intentionally, choosing experiences that offer value beyond sightseeing, observes Pranav Maheshwari, Co-Founder of StayVista. Post-pandemic behaviour has shifted strongly toward self-improvement and mindful living. Travellers want to return home refreshed and enriched, he says. Private villas and heritage properties naturally support this evolution, offering space, privacy, and flexibilityideal conditions for learning without the pressure of fixed schedules or crowded environments. At StayVista, guests gravitate toward balance by choosing a meaningful activity for a part of the day, followed by long stretches of unwinding, Maheshwari notes. It makes the break feel richer and more memorable, especially during extended stays. The sustainability of this trend is in its foundation. Skill-based travel isn't driven by novelty; it's rooted in personal growth, he explains. What will evolve is the format. Travellers increasingly prefer informal, flexible, and immersive experiences over rigid courses, allowing learning to blend seamlessly with leisure. Crafting Authenticity India's heritage properties are leading this transformation with particular sophistication. At House of Rohet, close to Jodhpur, skill-based experiences aren't packaged trends but align with deep engagements with the place and practice. We've observed a clear shift in how travellers define the value of a holiday, explains Avijit Singh, Managing Director of House of Rohet, which runs three properties in Jodhpur and its vicinity. Guests are seeking immersive, purposeful experiences that leave them with a tangible sense of growth. There's a growing appreciation for craftsmanshipfor skills that take time, patience, and lineage to master. Learning directly from practitioners, in their own environment, adds authenticity that no classroom or online tutorial can replicate, Singh highlights. Their equestrian programme exemplifies this philosophy. Designed not as casual riding fun but as serious engagement with the Marwari horse, it is suited only to experienced riders wishing to refine balance and horsemanship while understanding the breed's cultural significance. Grooming, tacking, and riding through rural landscapes become lessons in respect for both animals and tradition. This depth ensures that the experience remains purposeful rather than recreational, Singh notes. Culinary workshops go beyond demonstrations. Guests cook with chefs, learning about ingredients and techniques of regional cuisine, including family recipes from the erstwhile royal householdsand slow methods evolved over generations. The emphasis is on understanding ingredients, not rushing outcomesa skill increasingly lost in modern kitchens, Singh observes. Pottery sessions facilitated by luxury hotels inherently happen with local potters using traditional wheels and techniques, demanding patience and precision. Embroidery workshops with community weavers allow guests to engage with living craft tradition, appreciating the rhythm, symbolism, and discipline behind each stitch. This is becoming a cherished offering even beyond Rajasthan, slowly inviting guests to understand Indias deeply local heritage crafts in states like Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamilnadu. Avijit highlights that these crafts are not just souvenirs to be consumed, but skills to be respected. The sustainability of skillcations lies in intention. When experiences are thoughtfully designed, culturally respectful, and led by practitioners rather than performers, they create value for both the guest and host, he explains. The Artist's Pilgrimage Tattooing was perhaps not the cup of tea for Boomers and even millennials, but that is changing now, as observes Sunny Bhanushali, founder of Aliens Tattoo Studio & School. Tattooing has always involved travel, he observes. Long before 'skillcation' entered common usage, tattoo artists were moving across cities and countries to learn directly from master artists and the cultures that shaped specific styles. These journeys were never about leisure or comfort. They were about proximity to the source of the art. Many tattoo forms are inseparable from their place of origin. The relationship between tattooing and travel exists because tattooing is shaped by more than technique alone, Bhanushali explains. It is influenced by skin type, cultural symbolism, local rituals, and the psychology of the people receiving the tattoo. These nuances cannot be fully understood through screens. Over the last two decades, Bhanushali has seen hundreds of artists undertake these pilgrimagesto Japan for traditional Irezumi's discipline and deep respect for heritage, Bali for spirituality and sacred geometry's meditative practice, Germany for hygiene systems and procedural precision, Miami for colour realism and high-performance professional tattooing. Many worked without pay, observed quietly, cleaned studios, and earned trust before ever touching skin. For serious tattoo artists, at least one such journey is almost a rite of passage, he notes. Artists don't just return with improved technical skills, Bhanushali reflects. They return with broader perspectives on responsibility, storytelling, and cultural sensitivity. India, particularly Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Goa, are now emerging as a learning destination offering exposure to diverse skin tones, symbolic storytelling, and fusion of traditional and contemporary influences. At our school, we have always encouraged artists to travel, learn globally through tattoo conventions, and return with knowledge that can be interpreted rather than copied, says Bhanushali. This exchange of cultures and techniques allows an art to evolve while staying rooted in authenticity. The Global Wave Skillcations are flourishing globally. At Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai's Chaan Baan cultural hub, guests master Saa paper making from local mulberry barka centuries-old technique found only in Northern Thailandshape clay using ancestral Lanna pottery methods, or craft traditional Thai candles following Princess Dara Rasamee's historic recipes. At Four Seasons Koh Samui, the White Lotus-famed sanctuary, travelers learn Muay Thai in oceanfront rings, unlock Thai massage techniques, or explore rum and tequila tastings that reveal island terroir. National Tourism Day 2026: Why 'Noctourism' Could Be Indias Next Big Travel Trend Maheshwaris advice for aspiring skillcationers is simple: Keep the learning light and flexible, leaving room for rest and spontaneity. Choose a stay with enough space and privacy so the experience feels natural rather than forced. Travel with people who share the intention of a slower, more mindful holiday. And treat the skill as an experience rather than an outcomebecause enjoyment matters far more than mastery. In transforming vacations from passive escapes into active investments in personal evolution, skillcations represent travel's most meaningful renaissance yetone where the journey home carries not just memories, but mastery and a reason to feel confident to dive back into the humdrum of life.

DELYLIVING In Nepal: A Wellness Journey Beyond Transformation

From the moment I arrived, it was clear this was not a destination trying to impress, but one confident enough to simply exist. The journey unfolded through landscapes shaped with foresight and restraint, supported by leadership that understood care as something practiced rather than performed. What stayed with me was not spectacle or scale, but a quieter quality: attention that felt discerning, humane, and deeply considered. My first night at Miraaya Wellness and Golf Resort was unexpectedly restless. Heavy, unfamiliar sounds above my villa disrupted sleep. In darkness, imagination moves faster than reason. Shifting weight and muted thuds easily translate into threat. By morning, clarity arrived with daylight. What I had mistaken for intrusion was life itself. A mother monkey and her babies had settled on the thatched roof, drawn by warmth against the Himalayan cold. They remained there throughout my stay. That moment quietly set the tone for everything that followed: coexistence rather than control, awareness rather than alarm. The response from the team was immediate and instinctive. Without discussion or protocol, the villa below mine was opened for safety. Each night, someone was presentnot intrusive, not theatrical, simply there. Above, wildlife held its ground. Below, human care kept watch. It was hospitality without performance. The villa itself was expansive yet measured. Luxury here was expressed not through excess, but through space used generously and intelligently. Nothing demanded admiration; everything encouraged ease. From the outset, the message was clear: this was a stay shaped by dignity rather than display. Mornings arrived softly. Mist settled into the landscape, dissolving urgency. After Mumbaia city that often feels like a geographical ashtraythe clarity was physical. Breathing felt easier. The body responded before the mind could analyse it. Nepals cold is not decorative. It settles deep into bone and lingers. Yet this time, my body met it differently. A year and a half earlier, altitude had overwhelmed me elsewherebreath laboured, energy scarce. Here, something had shifted. Despite the chill, I walked and ran daily. Yoga and meditation found their place naturally. I played golf for the first time and calmly sank a putt. I played basketball tooentirely unfamiliar territoryand managed to dunk twice. What mattered was not the novelty of these firsts, but the environment that allowed them. Encouragement arrived without pressure. Support without expectation. Confidence grew where nothing was demanded of it. To clarify, I was not following a wellness programme during this stay. I already live with DELY-DEsciplinea deliberately structured, non-negotiable approach to wellness anchored in small, repeatable daily practices and consistent strength training. Since August 2024, this has resulted in a 60-kilo weight loss. I carried this rhythm with me throughout my time here and later deeper into the wild. The purpose of this journey was not transformation, but recalibrationallowing the body to move without constant measurement. My feedback applies only to the general hotel dining I experienced, not to meals served to wellness guests. While service was attentive and portions generous, food quality and presentation require greater consistency. Flavours occasionally lacked depth, and plating did not always reflect the calibre of the property. We eat with our eyes first, and here, presentation has room to rise. In contrast, the local Nepali meal on my final night was simple, warming, and perfectly aligned with climate and place. Anandita De with Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of CG Group (billionaire of Nepal) Practical realities surfaced quietly. Digital payments remain limited compared to India, where even small vendors accept instant transfers. ATMs were unreliable and often out of cash, while credit cards were inconsistently accepted. Connectivity was another challenge; despite using an international phone plan that works seamlessly elsewhere, coverage here was uneven. For a country welcoming international travellers year-round, these gaps deserve attention. From there, the journey moved deeper into the wild. At Meghauli Serai, within Chitwan National Park, the relationship with space shifts entirely. Here, the landscape leads. My jungle suite opened directly onto the river where animals come to drink. Design choicesopen thresholds, woven textures, uninterrupted sightlinesencouraged stillness rather than spectacle. On the first evening, mats were placed on the outer ledge just before the pool, and we lay there quietly, stargazing. No agenda. No orchestration. Just presence. Ensuring I was not alone that first night acknowledged emotional as well as physical safety. I didnt leave transformed. I left tuned. Leadership revealed itself quietly throughout the journey. Conversations around movement and vitality were grounded in curiosity rather than performance. Subtle shifts surfaced naturallysimpler food choices, mountain biking adopted as cardio, a daily rhythm that felt intentional rather than imposed. There was no instruction, only example. I both began and ended my journey in Kathmandu. The city remains compellingchaotic, vibrant, and alive. Thamel alone is reason enough to return. Nepal does not try to impress. It simply is. Three hours from India, yet operating on an entirely different emotional frequency. This journey was never about access or titles. It was about recognising kindness, restraint, and decencyqualities increasingly rare in a transactional world. I left aligned with the land, not because it is exotic, but because it is honest. Its beauty is quiet. Its spirituality is lived, not declared. And in a world that rarely slows down, that honesty feels restorative. Across global travels, I can say this and stand by it: I have never experienced hospitality this intuitive, this human, this quietly presentand it is precisely why I cannot wait to return.

Food review: OJU Brings Moon-Lit Japanese Elegance To Mumbai At Neuma, Colaba

After conquering Delhi, the Japanese fine dining place, OJU, comes to Mumbai in the house of Neuma at Colaba, Mumbai. Its not just food by corporate chef Nikhil Bharadwaj, consultant chef Moh and their able aide chef Vinam, but even the cocktails created by Vijendra that bring a freshness to the crowded Japanese food scene in Mumbai. The cocktail menu is as elaborate as the food menu and as intentional. They have tried to balance the drinks while using elements from the kitchen and created beverages that complement the food. The moon is their muse, and its movements are their guiding force. Miso Mushroom Soup I start with Saketini. Gari-infused vodka, sake, rice water, dry vermouth, and a dash of Aperol. Starts sweet on the palate and ends with Aperol. Team it with Spinach with Gomadare sauce, the spinach salad thats a medley of textures. Sesame seeds are the umami. Vegetarians should also try the Charred Beans French beans tossed in onion wafu sauce. Caramelised onions enhance the wafu flavours. Try the Seaweed Salad if you are in an adventurous mood. Five types of seaweeds tossed in homemade goma sauce, garnished with pickled pears, which are the USPof the dish. Crisp and slightly nutty. Tofu Avocado Tempura OJU has a good choice for vegetarians; be it tataki, carpaccio, tempura, maki or grills. Tofu carpaccio - thin slices of tofu in yuzu kosho vinaigrette, garnished with pickled red peppers, shio kombu and crispy bok choy is an ideal example of creativity keeping in mind the veg clientele. Yuzu & Koshu, the grape-infused pisco with yuzu cordial, olive brine, and jasmine-infused Lillet blanc, begins with a jasmine fragrance and finishes a little tart thanks to the brine. Goes well with all salads. Otora, the fatty tuna, is so delicious that you don't even need condiments to enjoy it.Obori is an experience. Fatty salmon with a drizzle of truffle oil, some pistachios, and a pinch of sea salt. This is torch-flamed on the table. Nearly melt-in-the-mouth delicacy. Try Lima with the nigiris or tatakis. This lychee-infused gin with yuzu, palo santo cordial, and clarified green apple juice is fresh on the palate. Black Miso Cod Sushi chef Tekhraj has more than two decades of experience and that reflects in the makis.Seafood lovers should go for Unagi. They get unagi (eel) from Japan. The crunch of the cucumber gives it a nice texture. Prawn Tempura Maki is also recommended. Veg guys, you have to try Oshisushi. Pickled shitake mushrooms with kimchi and cream cheese. Pickled Tomato Sushi I prefer the Veg Mantao. It is served with lemon mayo, pickled radish in beetroot juice, and a slice of lime. Smoky eggplant and corn tossed in barbecue sauce. Juicy, finger-licking if you like eggplant. Nuts about you And I move on to my next cocktail while I wait for the next dish. Ume Sour Fruity, sweet start, which is tempered by the vegan foam. This plum-infused-gin-based cocktail is gins answer to the whisky sour. Finishes sour thanks to the lemon, umeshu, and umeboshi. If they use a little less amaro and lime, the flavours of the Japanese elements will come across better. Tiger Prawn Tempura Yuzu & Koshu The Chicken Thigh Teriyaki comes on skewers glazed with yakitori sauce and dusted liberally with togarashi. I wait for the Miso Cod. The miso itself is cooked for four hours. The cod is later marinated in it for three days. It is served with a sauce that has yuzu and mirin. It is one of the best miso cods I have tasted in a very long time. The three-day marination ensures that the fish is well-cured before grilling. Mirin gives it a welcome sweetness to the sauce. Tuna Tataki Mushroom Donabe Next drink is Ponzu, and the dish is the Grilled Baby Chicken. Ponzu isvodka infused with traditional ponzu, finished with chilli oil. Nutty start, sour finish with slight chilli. Ponzu sauce and chilli oil give the nuttiness, informs Vijendra. Grilled Salmon The Robata Grilled Baby Chicken is served on the grill. With-skin grilled chicken is juicy inside and slightly crispy outside. The ume-gochujang butter glaze lends a subtle flavour. Kimchi Kare Rice I choose Vegetable and Kimchi Kare Rice over noodles. A pot comes to the table with rice topped with veg curry and garnished with crisps. Delectable, flavourful, and a meal in itself. Spicy Calamari The dessert choice is quite good, and I decide to be adventurous. Seasonal Fruit Tokoroten it is! A huge tray comes with a dish with fruits, nuts, and mango ice cream, a bowl with coconut mochi, and a small bowl with mitarashi syrup. Its big enough for two. Those less adventurous can try Matcha Tiramisu or Strawberry Granita. Rs. 6000/- with alcohol
