Bulldozer will run on their chest: Bihar Deputy CM Sinha after alleged RJD attack on his convoy

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Lakhisarai, Vijay Kumar Sinha, alleged on Thursday that his convoy was attacked by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supporters while he visited Khoriari village during the first phase of the 2025 Assembly elections. Sinha, seeking a fourth consecutive term, claimed his car was surrounded by RJD workers who pelted stones, cow dung, and hurled slippers while chanting Murdabad. He said one of his polling agents was turned away and that his supporter, Vibhishan Kevat, was beaten and admitted to hospital. These are the goons of RJD. The NDA is coming to power, thats why in their chest will feel the bulldozer. The goons are not letting me visit the village. Vijay Sinha is going to win, he told ANI, adding that booths 404 and 405 of Khoriari village witnessed the violence. Expressing dissatisfaction with the police response, Sinha called the local Superintendent of Police a coward and said he would raise the matter with the Election Commission (EC). Following the complaint, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar directed the DGP to take immediate action. An EC official said, No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Strict action will be taken against the miscreants. Lakhisarai SP Ajay Kumar said polling was continuing in the area and added that he would confirm the facts after visiting the site. Accusing the RJD of resorting to violence, Sinha said, The RJD has shown what it stands for. When this is their behaviour while out of power, if they win the polls even by fluke, what will ensue will be nothing short of the law of the jungle. #WATCH | Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Lakhisarai constituency, Vijay Kumar Sinha says, These are the goons of RJD. Meanwhile, political rhetoric between parties continued. Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, after casting his vote in Patna, called for a change in government, noting the NDAs 20-year rule in the state. Tawa se roti palatati rahni chahiye nahi toh jal jayegi (The roti should keep turning on the tawa, otherwise it will burn). Twenty years is too long! For a youth government and a new Bihar, a Tejashwi government is extremely necessary, he said. JD(U) leader Ashok Chaudhary responded to Lalus remarks, saying, Jo roti jal jati hai, usko phenk diya jata hai. Chaudhary appealed to voters to rise above caste politics, urging them to remember Bihars rich history, including its rule from Afghanistan to Bangladesh and its status as a golden sparrow during the Maurya period. Voting for the first phase of the elections is underway across 121 constituencies in 18 districts, covering approximately 3.75 crore electors. As of 1 pm, Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 42.31 per cent, with Gopalganj recording the highest at 46.73 per cent, followed by Lakhisarai at 46.37 per cent. Patna recorded a comparatively low turnout of 37.72 per cent. No doubt over CMs face: Pradhan

PATNA: BJPs in-charge for the Bihar Assembly elections, Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday debunked the speculation over Chief Minister Nitish Kumars role in the event of the NDA returning to power. Nitish Ji is like the head of our family, and nobody should have any doubt over who our CM face is, Pradhan told TMS in an exclusive interview in Patna. Pradhan asserted: JD(U) is our oldest, trusted, and tested ally. We are working in complete coordination both at the Centre and in the state. The minister said that Nitish Kumar had repeatedly acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modis generosity and concern for the speedy development of Bihar. He made it clear that the BJP had no hesitation in backing Nitish as Chief Minister again, irrespective of seat numbers. Even when JD(U) had fewer seats and Nitish Ji himself was reluctant, he was sworn in as Chief Minister. This time too, the same understanding will continue, he said. The Union Minister expressed confidence that the NDA would return to power with a full majority. He said the ruling alliance enjoyed support from all social groups upper castes, OBCs, EBCs, and Dalits and that the government was seeking votes based on its performance. The double-engine government has fulfilled the promises made earlier, but we know we have miles to go for Bihars growth, he said. He stressed that the people of Bihar had immense faith in both Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Modi, describing both leaders as having a clean image. Pradhan said voters would not allow jungle raj to return, recalling the difficult years under the Lalu-Rabri regime. Attacking the opposition, Pradhan said leaders of the INDIA bloc, including those from the Congress and RJD, were facing corruption charges. The main battle will be between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. Fringe players will fail to make any impact, he said. Referring to the opposition charge that the government transferred `10,000 to womens accounts ahead of the elections, he said the claim was baseless. The NDA has been taking steps for womens empowerment for the last two decades, he said, adding, This is not about elections, its about consistent governance. Looking ahead, Pradhan said the NDAs focus after returning to power would be on attracting investment and creating opportunities for youth through skill development. He said education would remain a top priority. We can make India a developed country by 2047 only if we invest in education. We have already given Bihar two central universities and 19 KendriyaVidyalayas. Bihar is now a priority state for NDA, he said. Nitish is BJPs trusted and tested ally: Pradhan JD(U) is our oldest, most trusted and tested ally, and we are working in tandem both at the Centre and in the state. Irrespective our seat tally in the election results, Nitish ji will be the chief minister, Dharmendra Pradhan said. He expressed confidence that the NDA would return to power with full majority.

PKs Munger candidate quits, joins BJP

PATNA: Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party on Wednesday suffered a setback after one of its candidates switched sides and joined BJP, a day before the first phase of polling. Sanjay Singh, who had been fielded in Munger by JSP, took BJP membership in presence of saffron partys candidate Kumar Pranay. The number of JSPs candidates has now reduced by four, as earlier, its nominees had withdrawn or distanced themselves from the elections in Danapur, Brahampur and Gopalganj. Singh said that he took the decision in the interest of development and a stable government. I have decided to fully support the NDA candidate and will make every effort to ensure his victory by a large margin. Though the exact reason behind Singh switchover remains unclear, he said that JSP could not provide robust leadership, which is required for bringing a real change.

Bihar polls: Legacy, family feuds and fresh faces shape key battles in Phase 1

From family feuds to fresh political debuts, Bihar is gearing up for a dramatic first phase of Assembly polls on November 6. The election will feature a mix of contests from Yadav strongholds and first-time candidates stepping into the spotlight to brothers standing on opposite sides of the political divide. In Patna, the BJP is banking on new faces, while in Lakhisarai and Kuchaikote, seasoned leaders are fighting to hold their ground. As alliances shift and loyalties are tested, every constituency has its own story one of legacy and ambition shaping Bihars political stage. Heres a look at some of the key battles to watch in Phase 1: Tarapur: Samrat Choudhary (BJP) vs Arun Shah (RJD) In Munger districts Tarapur seat, BJP leader Samrat Choudhary is set to take on RJDs Arun Shah in what promises to be a close and lively fight. The Yadavs form the largest group of voters, with around 63,000 people, followed by 20,000 Muslims, 50,000 upper-caste voters (mainly Rajputs and Brahmins), 40,000 Kushwahas, 35,000 Sahs and 28,000 Dalits. Choudhary, a sitting MLC, is returning to the polls after 15 years, adding extra interest to the race. Shah had earlier contested the 2021 bypoll here but narrowly lost to JD(U)s Rajiv Kumar Singh by just over 3,800 votes. A familiar face in state politics, Choudhary has also been one of the BJPs main campaigners and has been travelling across Bihar to rally support beyond his own seat. Raghopur: Tejashwi Yadav (RJD) vs Satish Kumar (BJP) RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhans chief ministerial face, is gearing up for a high-stakes contest in Raghopur against BJPs Satish Kumar from the NDA and Jan Suraaj Partys Chanchal Kumar. Tejashwi has made jobs the centrepiece of his campaign, promising a new law to ensure one government job for every family and to begin the recruitment process within 20 months. With employment a major concern across Bihar, this pledge is seen as a potential game-changer for the RJD. Raghopur has long been a Yadav family stronghold since Lalu Prasads win in 1995, except for one term between 2010 and 2015 when JD(U) held the seat. Tejashwi has represented the constituency for the past two terms and is now looking to secure it once again. Understanding Bihars caste matrix: The key to unlocking poll outcomes in the state Mahua: Tej Pratap Yadav (JJD) vs Mukesh Raushan (RJD) In Vaishali districts Mahua seat, Lalu Prasads estranged son and independent MLA Tej Pratap Yadav will be in the spotlight as he takes on RJDs Mukesh Kumar Raushan, the sitting MLA, and LJPs Sanjay Singh. After being expelled from the RJD in May for what the party called irresponsible behaviour and straying from the partys core values, Tej Pratap formed his own outfit, the JJD. His expulsion followed a controversial social media post, now deleted, where he spoke of a 12-year relationship with a woman. Tej Pratap had earlier won Mahua in 2015 and is now hoping to reclaim it under the JJD banner. The new party brings together five smaller regional outfits the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party, Bhojpuria Jan Morcha, Pragatisheel Janata Party, Wazib Adhikar Party and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party as he attempts to rebuild his political base independently. Alinagar: Maithili Thakur (BJP) vs Binod Mishra (RJD) vs JSPs Biplaw Kumar Chowdhary Folk singer Maithili Thakur, the BJPs new cultural face, will make her electoral debut from Alinagar in Darbhanga district. She will face RJDs Binod Mishra and JSPs Biplaw Kumar Chowdhary in the first phase of polling. By nominating the 25-year-old singer, the BJP aims to turn Mithilas cultural pride into political strength. Thakur joined the party in October, soon after the BJP announced its first list of 71 candidates for the Bihar elections. Alinagar has traditionally been an RJD stronghold, long represented by veteran Abdul Bari Siddiqui, who won seven times before stepping aside after his 2015 victory. In 2020, the seat went to VIPs Mishri Lal Yadav a former RJD leader who crossed over to the NDA by a narrow margin of just over 3,000 votes. Lakhisarai: Vijay Kumar Sinha (BJP) vs Suraj Kumar (JSP) vs Amresh Kumar Aneesh (INC) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha is eyeing a sixth straight victory from Lakhisarai, where he will face JSPs Suraj Kumar in the first phase of polling. Lakhisarai has been a BJP bastion for the last three Assembly terms 2010, 2015 and 2020 largely driven by caste dynamics, with strong support from Bhumihars and other upper-caste groups. A civil engineer by training and a former RSS worker, Sinha is a prominent Bhumihar leader. He made history in 2020 by becoming the first BJP member to serve as Speaker of the Bihar Assembly after the party formed the government with JD(U). Arrah: Sanjay Singh Tiger (BJP) vs Vijay Kumar Gupta (JSP) vs CPI (ML)s Quyamuddin Ansari In Arrah, BJPs Sanjay Singh Tiger will take on JSPs Vijay Kumar Gupta and CPI (ML)s Quyamuddin Ansari in what appears to be a three-cornered contest. The seat has swung between the BJP and RJD in almost every election since 2010. BJPs Amrendra Pratap Singh won in 2010 and again in 2020, both times with Ansari finishing second. In between, during the 2015 bypoll, the seat briefly returned to the RJD when Mohammad Nawaz Alam won. INTERVIEW | 'Fighting for jobs, dignity, development; NDAs austerity model is anti-people': Tejashwi Yadav Patna Sahib: Shashant Shekhar (Congress) vs Ratnesh Kushwaha (BJP) In Bihars capital, the Patna Sahib seat is set for a fresh face-off as the BJP replaces veteran leader Nand Kishore Yadav, 72, with 45-year-old lawyer Ratnesh Kushwaha. The Congress has fielded newcomer Shashant Shekhar, 35, making this a contest between two first-time candidates. An entirely urban constituency, Patna Sahib has long been a BJP stronghold. Yadav held the seat since its creation after the 2008 delimitation and defeated Congresss Pravin Singh Kushwaha by over 18,000 votes in 2020. For the Congress, this contest is a chance to reconnect with voters and rebuild its presence in a city where it has struggled to make a mark for decades. Kuchaikote: Amarendra Kumar Pandey (JD(U)) vs Hari Narain Kushwah (INC) Amarendra Kumar Pandey, popularly known as Pappu Pandey, continues to be a strong political presence in Bihars Gopalganj district. A senior JD(U) leader and sitting MLA, he represents the Kuchaikote constituency, where he has won the last two Assembly elections. Known for improving local infrastructure and supporting agricultural growth, Pandey has built a loyal voter base in the region. His influence within the party and consistent electoral success have made him one of JD(U)s key figures in western Bihar. Danapur: Ram Kripal Yadav (BJP) vs Ritlal Yadav (RJD) Former Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav returns to the state arena, contesting from Danapur on the outskirts of Patna. He faces a tough battle against RJDs Ritlal Yadav, known for his strong local base in the area. The seat carries symbolic weight for Ram Kripal it borders Pataliputra, the constituency he once represented in Parliament after defeating Lalu Prasad Yadavs daughter, Misa Bharti, in 2014. His return signals the BJPs renewed attempt to reconnect with backward-class voters in the Patna region. Siwan: Mangal Pandey (BJP) vs Awadh Bihari Choudhary (RJD) Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, a senior BJP leader and former state party president, will contest from Siwan against RJDs Awadh Bihari Choudhary. A familiar face in Bihar politics, Pandey is known for his calm leadership and strong organisational skills within the party. Often seen as a steady hand in the BJPs Bihar unit, his name has occasionally been mentioned as a possible future chief ministerial candidate. However, the NDA has made it clear that Nitish Kumar remains its CM face for 2025. As Bihar heads into the first phase of polling, these contests will set the tone for the battles ahead. 121 seats. 18 dists. Stage set for 1st phase of Bihar assembly elections

VIP inflow floods Patna airport in election season, private jets cost 6 lakh per flying hour

PATNA: With election campaigns in full swing, Patnas Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport is witnessing an unprecedented surge in air traffic, with the facility operating well beyond its capacity. On average, 100 to 130 VIPs arrive daily, turning the airport into one of the busiest political transit hubs in the country. According to airport sources, 23 helicopters and 12 chartered aircraft have been cleared for continuous operations. After dropping off passengers, most chartered flights are sent to Gaya, Darbhanga, Varanasi, Lucknow or Ranchi to free up parking space, airport sources said. Top political leaders are flying in on private jets before switching to helicopters to criss-cross Bihar for campaign events. Of the total choppers available, 15 have been reserved for the BJP, while the rest are being used by the Congress, JD(U) and RJD, explained a source. The election season has triggered a windfall for private charter operators, many of whom have flown in aircraft from across India. Companies such as Club One Air, Air Charter and VSS are operating jets, while helicopter services are being provided by Pawan Hans, Maharaja Aviation, Red Bird Aviation, ACS Charter Services, Trans Bharat Aviation, Global Vectra and Aero Air Chartered Services. The going rate for a Falcon jet is 6 lakh per flying hour plus GST, an airport source said. A round trip between Patna and Delhi around 80 minutes each way costs over 18 lakh. For longer bookings, the rate drops slightly to 5.8 lakh per hour, the source added. These luxury jets are equipped with sofas, beds, washrooms and in-flight catering, offering the comfort of a private suite in the sky. Helicopters, meanwhile, cost 1.5 lakh per hour for single-engine models that seat four passengers and 2 lakh per hour for twin-engine versions. Global Flight Aviation Services, the agency managing ground handling, has been coordinating the constant stream of landings and departures. The first day was chaotic, an official admitted. Passenger details didnt always match the manifests, and a few VIPs had to wait for clearances. But the process has since been streamlined. Despite improved coordination, officials concede that Patna airport is stretched to its limit, with parking bays full and staff working round the clock. The crowded skies over Bihars capital reflect the intensity of the political battle.

Opposition highlights unemployment under NDA rule, questions truth behind empowerment claim

PATNA: As Bihar heads into the first phase of its elections on November 6, both the ruling and opposition alliances have pushed forth competing narratives over empowerment and unemployment, in an attempt to appeal to young voters who constitute around 1517% of the total electorate. The NDA, led by the JD(U) under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has crafted their campaign based on a slew of cash assistance schemes and infrastructure development as evidence of progress. The BJP, working in coordination with the RSS across Bihars Hindi-speaking heartland, has revived its old charge of Jungle Raj against the RJD . The Mahagathbandhan has countered this charge by invoking the growing frustration among jobless youth. It is true that NH and other networks of roads have been made widely available and electricity reached across the remotest part of the state also. But what will we do with NHs or SHs or electricity if we are unemployed? Tell us how come these make us employed only through setting up small business outlets along the roads? What we need is employment, remarked Yogendra Yadav in Bakhtiyarpur, illustrating how deeply unemployment has entered the psyche of young voters. Over 3.75 crore voters, including 1.98 crore women, will cast their votes across 45,341 polling booths and 17 auxiliary booths in 18 districts. The first phase is crucial for the NDA, with 16 ministers contesting, alongside key opposition figures, including the Mahagathbandhans chief ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav. The RJD, though not fielding many new faces, hopes to consolidate its base, while the NDA has opted for a mix of incumbents and fresh candidates, dropping some of its sitting MLAs. Voter turnout, particularly among women and youth in remote constituencies, is expected to offer an early indication of the elections direction. 121 seats. 18 dists. Stage set for 1st phase of Bihar assembly elections However, this years polls are notably more complex than before, as both alliances have placed heavy emphasis on promises of employment, empowerment, and welfare, leading to heightened public scrutiny over their credibility. The emergence of the Jan Suraaj Party has added another dimension to the contest. Although its impact appears limited in the districts voting in the first phase, the party has reportedly generated social awareness about Bihars longstanding developmental challenges. In urban and semi-urban areas such as Patna, its candidates have made a perceptible presence, though voters remain non-committal about which alliance they ultimately favour. Overall, the first phase of polling represents a test not only of political strength but also of public faith in the promises of jobs, growth, and empowerment issues that continue to shape Bihars political and economic future.

'Dard Hai, Sochna Nahi Hai': Richa Ghosh's Coach Reveals How She Played With Pain In WC Knockouts

U19 T20 World Cup: Though Bengal endured a difficult time on the field in their recent Ranji Trophy game against Tripura, bowling coach Shib Shankar Paul had his reason to be somewhat joyful his student, wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh was the member of the Indian team beating South Africa by 52 runs to clinch their first-ever Womens ODI World Cup title. I felt really good. I mean, a student of mine has won the World Cup, and it will always feel very good. The whole of India is happy. So I am very happy that a student of mine won the World Cup, Paul told IANS in an exclusive interview. But what Paul revealed next added another layer to Richa's heroics: she played the semi-final and final with a hairline fracture in her left-hand middle finger. Richa originally sustained the injury while keeping against New Zealand in the group stage and sat out of the washed-out fixture against Bangladesh. But Paul knew Richa would play through the pain via a simple message he shared with her. Dard hai, sochna nahi hai (yes, pain is there, but you don't have to think about it) - 150 crore people are watching you. Think about it and you have to win. I knew she would play despite the injury. I mean, she is very tough and she played the semi-final and final despite being in a lot of pain, he said. Richa finished the tournament with 235 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 133.52, hitting a record 12 sixes the most by an Indian batter in a single Womens World Cup edition. Apart from having a strike rate of 165.17 in overs 41-50, Richas blazing 94 against South Africa in the league stage in Visakhapatnam remains the highest score by a number eight batter in Women's ODIs. I liked her performances in the World Cup. It would have been better if there was a hundred off her bat or two-three more fifties were hit. But I felt that in the situations the team found itself in the competition, she did put in her contributions and fulfilled them to a large extent, said Paul. Richa's journey from Siliguri to Kolkata - a distance of nearly 200 kilometers - was never easy. There was a dearth of opportunities in her hometown, and she had to play with boys because there were no separate training facilities. Women's cricket, especially in the suburbs, had seen way too many similar storylines before. But her father Manabendra, as per Paul, would leave everything to bring his daughter to the city for training. In Siliguri, he would bowl to her on a concrete pitch near their home, and endure criticism from the neighbours, who questioned why his daughter was playing cricket. Look, it is a big thing to have your familys backing. It is a big thing to live in Kolkata from Siliguri. My house is far from her house like theres a distance of approximately 200 kilometers. So, I knew how to struggle, settle in Kolkata, live in a hotel or be in an ashram for many days so this is a big thing. At that time, girls did not do much batting and bowling in the academy. His father used to leave everything and bring her to Kolkata every time. He used to go with her to the district matches or CAB games. I salute his father and I will just say that 'You are great, Richa came on Earth for you only'. Coaches will come and go, but the support of her father and mother will always be there. I also told Richa one thing, 'When you grow up, you have to take care of your family. Always worship your father and you will grow higher and higher in life', said Paul. Though Paul coached Richa from the time she was 13, it wasnt until Bengals game against Delhi in the 2019 domestic T20 matches that he was totally convinced about her potential to play for India. In that game, Bengal crawled to 35 runs in 10 overs, seemingly headed for disaster. Then Richa walked in and changed everything. She came in to score 67 and took us past 150 in no time. At that time, Reema Malhotra was in the opposition team. From that game, everything changed for the good for Richa like everyone saw how hard she could hit the ball, whether it was on the rise, as well as above cover, mid-on and mid-wicket. She was 15 years old at that time she would play as an opening batter, who would sometimes bowl and sometimes keep wickets. This meant we used to call her a 'storage' like whenever we got time, we would use her either for bowling or at times, keeping, he recalled with a hearty laugh. After that game, Paul had Richa stop bowling and shift focus entirely on wicketkeeping. With Richa being a massive MS Dhoni fan and wanting to be a finisher like her idol, Paul obliged. Back then, Richa was raw - she could hit the ball hard, but lacked control and tactical nous. But over the years, she has evolved. I gave her batting at number five. I told her that, 'you are a Dhoni fan, so calculate the finish properly'. At that time, she was not that old, wasn't that smart tactically and cool at the same time. But now she has gained experience, and knows how to control situations like that. Earlier, she was not like this though she would hit the ball hard, she did not have control on shots. But now she has gained a lot of control, knows how to read the game and read the bowler well. She used to hit the ball very hard from the word go she has evolved her batting by herself and I have helped her in this, Paul explains. Now, after her arrival in Kolkata as a wide-eyed teenager, Richa has fulfilled her destiny; she had already won the U19 T20 World Cup in 2023. Now, she has the senior ODI World Cup too. Now, winning the T20 World Cup in England next year awaits Richa and the Indian team. When Paul spoke to her after the final, his message was clear. I said, You have to win it and this is just the beginning. You started with U19 World Cup win. Now you have got senior World Cup. There is still more to win. Paul's daughter and son share a deep friendship with Richa - she calls them on WhatsApp after every game, and now, there's a promise to keep. When she comes to Kolkata, she said that there will be a party with them. So, just let her come, there will be a party after that, Paul said with joy heavy in his voice. He further believes the World Cup triumph and Richa being a part of it will have a transformative impact on women's cricket in Bengal. If I talk about Bengal, earlier it was Jhulan (Goswami) everyone would come to see her. Now they will come to see Richa. There are already a lot of women's teams in Kolkata. Like the CAB used to do it in the men's league they are now doing it in clubs system with women's. This has already become very big, as 20-25 teams came to CAB. The CAB's intensity is very good they are setting up a camp in every district. Overall, women's cricket in Bengal has improved a lot in every district. A lot of girls will come to see Richa and they will also come to see Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur. Also Read: LIVE Cricket Score The crowds at women's games have swelled beyond recognition, another aspect which has left Paul glad. I was a coach for two years in Bengal women's team. I never imagined there would be such a full crowd for a women's game. People would come earlier to watch games for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Now, they will all come to see Richa, Smriti, and Jemi, he concluded. Article Source: IANS

FIR lodged against Lalan over some leaders remark

PATNA: An FIR has been filed against Union minister and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh, at the behest of the Election Commission of India (ECI) after a video in which Singh appears to instruct supporters in the Mokama area to prevent some leaders from leaving their houses on polling day went viral on social media. In the viral video, Singh is purportedly heard saying, Some leaders should not be allowed to leave their homes on the day of elections. If they plead too much, take them with you, and after voting, bring them back home and put them to bed. Take charge now. There is no time left for elections. Responding to the filing of an FIR against Lalan Singh, JD (U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar alleged the video had been distorted for political purposes, insisting Singhs remarks were taken out of context. On the other hand, RJD MP Manoj Jha contrasted the entire episode with the NDAs jungle raj rhetoric, asking the Prime Minister what sort of jungle raj existed when a cabinet colleague was alleged to be inciting such tactics. RJD also shared the video clip and accused Singh of running a bulldozer over the Election Commissions chest. Lalan Singh represents the Munger Lok Sabha constituency, of which the Mokama assembly constitutesa part. NDA will win 160 seats & form govt, says Shah

PATNA: Union home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Tuesday expressed confidence that the NDA will secure a decisive victory in the Bihar assembly elections, asserting that the ruling alliance will win more than 160 seats and form the next government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He dared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to organise as many as yatras as he can to protect infiltrators, adding that BJP would drive out all of illegal immigrants. Addressing a rally in Bettiah in West Champaran, Shah took a jibe at Lalu Prasad-led RJD, saying they raised slogans like Shahabuddin amar Rahe and dream of jungle raj, but Bihar will not allow it. He said, Champaran is witness to how Bihars land remained blood-soaked during RJDs jungle raj. How can people forgive these people for unleashing a reign of terror across the state during Lalu and Rabri Devis regime. He said, NDA will win 160 seats in Bihar, form the government with two-thirds majority, earlier in the day, at a rally in adjoining Motihari under east Champaran district, Shah fired dynastic politics salvo at Congress and RJD, saying that Sonia Gandhi wanted her son to be Prime Minister and Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi wished their son Tejashwi Yadav to be chief minister. But there is no vacancy on the posts as Narendra Modi is holding the post of PM and Nitish Kumar is serving as CM, he said, in a veiled attack on RJD-Congress. Shah also urged voters to press EVM buttons with lotus (BJPs election symbol) to prevent the return of jungle raj in Bihar. He alleged that RJD rule ruined the state and pushed it back so far development is concerned.

NDA government in Bihar uplifted women from shadow of helplessness, fear: Smriti Irani

PATNA: Former Union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani on Tuesday asserted that the NDA government in Bihar has uplifted women from the shadow of helplessness and fear. Addressing a press conference here, Irani also said she was pained over the RJD's appeal to the Election Commission to stall the benefits of women's welfare schemes in Bihar. The Jan Dhan Yojana has benefited more than 3 crore women in Bihar, and 1.16 crore women have received benefits under the Ujjawala Yojana. We have also seen the fulfillment of the promise of toilets in every household, Irani said. For me, it's a matter of pain that, on one hand, the NDA government is directly transferring money into the accounts of women beneficiaries in Bihar, while, on the other, RJD leaders have given a written proposal to the EC to stall these benefits, she said. RJD MP Manoj Jha had written to the EC on October 31, accusing the Bihar government of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by transferring money to women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on October 17, 24, and 31. The Bihar assembly polls will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
