'Alliance with Mahagathbandhan was only for Bihar elections': Bihar Congress chief
PATNA: Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar on Monday clarified that the grand old partys alliance with Opposition Mahagathbandhan , a part of INDIA bloc, was only for Bihar assembly elections and that the party would now focus on strengthening the organisation. Kumar was talking to the media after a crucial meeting with all district presidents and officer bearers frontal organisations. It was the first meeting with district level leaders after the partys drubbing in the state assembly election. His statement has given rise to speculation that Congress may break away from the Opposition alliance in near future. We discussed on four issues at todays meeting, including factors for partys poor performance in Bihar elections, proposed agitation against vote theft in New Delhi, election of leader of legislative party and coordination within the party during election, the state president said. A section of leaders has already advocated for breaking away its alliance with the ally-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)- and go solo next elections. Mondays meeting assumed significance in the wake of a series of review meetings in Delhi to ascertain the reasons for the partys debacle in Bihar polls. Bihar election results show 'vote chori' on 'gigantic scale', says Congress On Saturday, senior leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met partys six newly elected MLAs from Bihar in New Delhi. During the meeting, the leaders discussed on possibility of restructuring within the state unit. The leaders also conveyed mounting pressure from within the state unit to snap ties with RJD. Congress legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said that the review meeting is part of a broader assessment of the partys strategy in Bihar following its poor electoral performance in the recently held assembly polls. Khan, however, admitted that most of the candidates, who lost in the assembly polls, said that they would have done better had they not allied with RJD. It is up to the party high command to decide what should be the future strategy, he told the media. A large section of candidates, during feedback session with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi last week, argued that 'an over aggressive stand by RJD' made lakhs of voters to turn away from Mahagathbandhan candidates, fearing a return of 'jungle raj' of Lalu-Rabri era.

After Delhi blast connection, Nuh linked to MP cybercrimes
BHOPAL: Haryanas Nuh district, which is under glare as an operational base of the white-collar terror module linked to 10/11 Delhi blast case, has also come out as the nucleus of Madhya Pradeshs biggest-ever inter-state cybercrime ring. MP polices cybercrime unit has traced masterminds of the racket to Nuh. The cyber fraud ring involved over 1000 bank accounts of people in Vindhya and Mahakoshal region of MP, being used as mule accounts to park and circulate fraud money. More than 25 people from MP, Haryana and Bihar have been arrested and charge-sheeted. As the investigations progress, its becoming clear that operatives based in Nuh are the masterminds of the racket. They sourced SIM cards and mule accounts mostly from MP and used them for their inter-state racket, said a MP police involved in the probe. The men in Nuh operated an illegal call centre at a flat in Gurugram, which was used to make calls to people for duping them. The SIM cards, sourced by operatives in MP and other states, reached the kingpins through middlemen based in Patna. The mule bank accounts served as the pipeline through which more than Rs 3,000 crore was routed. The funds were actually proceeds of cybercrimes committed in various parts of the country, religious charity money as well as money from unknown sources suspected to have been used possibly for terror funding. Large sum of money was routed through mule accounts to the Middle East, the officer added. The fraudsters also operated shell companies in Hyderabad and parts of Maharashtra. The 25-plus men arrested over the last 11 months have been charge-sheeted. Now we are going to zero in on the racket masterminds in Nuh, he said. Years back it was Jamtara in Jharkhand, but crackdown saw newer hotspots in West Bengal. Over last couple of years Nuh and adjoining Rajasthan districts have emerged as the cybercrime hub, SP (cybercrime cell) Pranay Nagwanshi said.

Bihar legislature's winter session likely to be stormy, newly elected MLAs to take oath on Dec 1
PATNA: The Winter Session of the Bihar legislature, beginning from Monday, is likely to be stormy as the Opposition is expected to raise issues related to promises made to people by the National Democratic Alliance during the recently concluded assembly elections. Issues like one crore jobs, financial aids of Rs 2 lakh each to women associated with Jeevika and opening of new sugar factories and closed units will dominate the five-day session of the state legislature being held after the formation of a new government. The issue of setting up industrial units will also be raised. The winter session assumed significance as the ruling NDA won 202 seats in the election, while the Oppositions seat tally reduced to 35. Of the 35, 25 are from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alone. It does not matter how many members are in the Opposition bench. The opposition will play its role as usual, said RJD MLA Bhai Virendra. The five-day winter session of state legislature will begin on Monday. On the first day, Pro-Tem Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav will administer oath to all 243 members, followed by the election for the Speaker on December 2. The state assembly will adopt a largely paperless system, with newly installed tablets allowing members to submit questions and motions digitally. Power of Six! How the NDA succeeded in hitting the MGB out of the park in Bihar polls BJP leader Prem Kumar is likely to file a nomination for the post of Speaker on the first day itself. If more than one candidate files nominations, the election for the Speaker will be held on December 2. If Prem Kumar, an eight-time MLA from Gaya town, is elected uncontested, then the BJP will be able to retain the Speakers post. In the previous assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav of the BJP served as Speaker in the House. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will address a joint session of the state legislature on December 3. On December 4, MLAs and MLCs will debate on Governors address, and the government will reply. On December 5, both Houses will present the second supplementary bill and the Appropriation bill. After that, the winter session will come to an end. On Saturday, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was elected as the leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly, at a meeting of the Opposition legislature party held at the 1 Polo Road residence of the RJD leader. Congress MLAs were not present at the legislature party meeting held for the first time after the elections. Meanwhile, first-time MLAs are enthusiastic about their oath-taking ceremony and formally becoming members of the Lower House. We are more enthusiastic about oath oath-taking ceremony. We will enter Bihar Vidhan Sabha as its member for the first time, said Anand Mishra, a first-time BJP MLA from Buxar.
Haryanas Nuh emerges as key operational base in white-collar terror module
BHOPAL:The Nuh district of Haryana has emerged as an alleged hideout, operational base for sourcing materials and recruitment ground for the white collar modules operatives. This comes against the investigations' progress into the white-collar terror module and the 10/11 Delhi blast case. The same southeastern Haryana district has also turned out to be the nucleus of Madhya Pradeshs biggest-ever inter-state cyber crime ring, which was busted by the police in early 2025. As the MP polices cyber crime unit accelerates its probe into the inter-state racket, men operating from Nuh (Haryana) have emerged as the kingpins and masterminds, which is believed to be worth more than Rs 3000 crore. Anatomy of a white collar terror module The cyber fraud ring involved more than 1000 bank accounts of people in the Vindhya and Mahakoshal region of MP, being used as mule accounts to park and circulate fraud money and hundreds of SIM cards sourced from MP were used by cyber fraudsters for committing crimes across the country. More than 25 persons, hailing from MP, Haryana and Bihar, have so far been arrested and charge-sheeted in the court in MP. The men in Nuh (mostly school dropouts) operated an illegal call centre at a flat in Gurugram, which was used to make calls to people for duping them via various kinds of cyber-crimes, including job offers, gaming and cryptocurrency investment frauds, etc. The SIM cards, which were sourced by the rackets kingpins from their operatives in MP and other states, reached through middlemen based in the Bihar capital Patna. Cybercrime police bust ATM card cloning racket, nab onefrom Haryana The bank accounts, which were used as mule accounts (around 70 per cent of them were originally held by low-income people in MPs Vindhya and Mahakoshal regions), served as the pipeline through which more than Rs 3,000 crore was routed to various destinations. The funds which were rotated through these accounts were actually proceeds of cybercrime committed in various parts of the country, religious charity money, as well as money from unknown sources suspected to have been used possibly for terror funding. A large sum of money was actually routed through the mule accounts to the Middle East, a MP police officer added. The men operating from Nuh even operated shell companies/firms in Hyderabad and parts of Maharashtra. These shell firms/companies were particularly used for cyber fraud and the transfer of illicit money. The 25-plus men who have been arrested in the case over the last 11 months have already been charge-sheeted in the court. Now we are going to zero in upon the real kingpins/masterminds of the racket in Nuh, the officer maintained. As per MP police sources, its not the first time that Nuhs name has cropped up in a major cybercrime case. Nuh has gradually emerged as a prime cybercrime hotspot in the country. Years back, it was Jamtara in Jharkhand, but a sustained crackdown witnessed newer hotspots emerge in West Bengal, adjoining parts of Odisha and later some parts of western UP. But over the last couple of years, Nuh in Haryana and adjoining districts of Rajasthan have come out as the prime cyber-crime hub of India, Madhya Pradesh polices SP (state cyber crime cell) Pranay Nagwanshi said. Tejashwi Yadav named leader of 'Mahagathbandhan' in Bihar assembly
PATNA: Lawmakers of the opposition 'Mahagathbandhan' in Bihar on Saturday unanimously elected Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD as the coalition's leader in the state legislature. The decision was taken at a meeting hosted by Yadav here ahead of the five-day session of the legislature, beginning on Monday, during which all the newly elected members of the 243-strong assembly will be sworn in. Talking to reporters after the meeting, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra said, Tejashwi Yadav has been elected leader of the 'Mahagathbandhan' in the state legislature. Of course, he will also be leader of our party in the assembly. Congress MLC Samir Kumar Singh, who is also a working president of the party's state unit, said he decision on Tejashwi Yadav was unanimous. We have sufficient numbers, and he shall be the leader of the opposition as well. The 'Mahagathbandhan' was decimated in the recent assembly polls, which saw the ruling NDA retaining power by bagging 202 seats. At the meeting, members of both Houses of the legislature voiced concern over the manner in which the elections were held. These were anything but free and fair. SIR, which was first held in Bihar, remains a questionable exercise. No wonder, there is so much of political friction in a state like West Bengal, Singh said. The Congress leader added: We will continue to raise our voice inside the House on all issues concerning the people. We will confront the BJP-led coalition if it tries to backtrack on promises made during the elections. Power of Six! How the NDA succeeded in hitting the MGB out of the park in Bihar polls

South African: On the eve of the first ODI between India and South Africa, former Proteas pacer Dale Steyn praised the impact of senior Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, calling their presence both a significant challenge and a privilege for the visiting side. Speaking ahead of the series opener, Steyn highlighted not only the players experience but also the enormous fan energy they bring with them, something he believes significantly influences the contest. They bring a ton of experience. I think the other thing is they bring a massive crowd and fan following, which is always one of the biggest things that you're playing against when you come to India. Recently, when the ladies were playing in the final, the Women's World Cup final against India, the Proteas women felt like they weren't just playing against 11, they were playing against an entire nation. Referring specifically to the aura of Indias senior-most batting icons, the former Protea quick added, And that's obviously the same case when somebody like Virat and Rohit are part of the Indian men's team. Every seat won by Congress in Bihar Assembly polls was because of RJD: Mangani Lal Mandal
PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) state president Mangani Lal Mandal said on Saturday that all seats that Congress won in the recently held state assembly polls were because of RJDs support. The remark comes hours before a joint meeting of the Opposition INDIA bloc allies in the state capital to discuss strategy for the special session of the Bihar legislature, beginning December 1. Talking to media persons, Mandal said that if the Bihar Congress intended to adopt a 'different' way, it was free to do so. Congress will get to know its real strength on the ground when it fights the elections alone. RJD has a strong support base, which is reflected in the election results, he said, adding that RJDs alliance partners only benefit from it. To buttress his statement, Mandal said that Congress had contested 71 seats in the previous 2020 assembly election, and it could win only 19 seats due to the continuous support of RJD. He said the Congress reviewed the partys poor performance in the 2025 election at a high-level meeting held in New Delhi, in which it blamed the RJD for its defeat. Dismissing the RJD state presidents claim, Congress spokesperson Asitnath Tiwari asked, Congress has been a spent force in Bihar, why RJD choose to contest the elections in alliance with the grand old party? Another Congress leader, Gyan Ranjan, said that if Mandal has to say anything, he should raise it at the right platform and not before the media. Rebels blame Bihar Congress leaders for poll debacle Congress leaders said that Mandal should convey his feelings to Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, chairperson of the INDIA blocs coordination committee, for Bihar assembly elections. Statement in the media will not serve any purpose, Congress leaders said, adding that every ally of Mahagathabandhan was analysing reasons for its defeat in the elections. When asked whether Congress would part ways with RJD, Congress MP and former state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh said the decision would rest entirely with the central leadership of the party. The leaders of the party held a review meeting in New Delhi to get feedback on the partys debacle in the Bihar polls, he said. While Congress could win only six out of 61 seats it contested in the 2025 assembly elections, RJD could win 25 out of 143 seats. Meanwhile, former minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Syed Shanawaz Hussain took a jibe at the internal conflict within the Mahagathbandhan after the political debacle in the Bihar assembly elections. Hussain said, They were fighting with each other before the elections and are doing the same thing after the poll results. He described the alliance between RJD and Congress as unholy and said that it was stitched together to derive political gains. It was bound to happen as their ties were meant for political gains and not on any ideology, he asserted. Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the Mahagathbandhan is scheduled to be held at Tejashwi Yadavs Polo Road residence after his return from Delhi. The meeting will discuss the Oppositions strategy for the special session of the legislature.
