Patna Diary | Many yatras of Tejashwi incomplete
RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is known for his action-packed politics, even addressing more than a dozen election campaigns in a single day. But his track record is not as impressive as his uncle and his political rival Nitish Kumar. Whereas Nitish is known for completing a number of yatras during his 19-year long stint as chief minister, although sometimes even facing hostile crowds, the young RJD leader has not been able to complete his yatra. Everybody was expecting he would break his Yatra jinx when he embarked on his Karyakarta Samvad Yatra. He completed his first leg but the second leg hit a bump again. Hindu Swabhiman Yatra leaves Giriraj isolated Hindu Swabhiman Yatra launched by union minister and BJP Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh from Bhagalpur has created a political turmoil in Bihar. Giriraj became a soft target of not only opposition parties but also his own party. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal was quick to respond that BJP had nothing to do with Hindu Swabhiman Yatra as Singh launched it on his own. BJP distanced itself from Yatra. JD(U), a major ally of BJP-led NDA, had raised serious objections over it and said there is peace and harmony in the state where people from all religious faiths were living without any fear. giriraj-singhs-hindu-swabhiman-yatra-raises-concerns-among-bjp-allies
Union Minister Giriraj Singhs Hindu Swabhiman Yatra, which passes through some of the minority-dominated districts of Bihar, has caused concerns among the BJP allies and the opposition parties, who have questioned the need for such a yatra. Singh, known as a vocal Hindutva leader, sparked off controversy when he announced his decision to undertake the yatra centred on uniting the Hindu community beyond caste differences. Singh, who started the yatra from Bhagalpur, which in the past had a chequered history of Hindu-Muslim riots, has been referring to the threats to the Hindus owing to the demographic change and attacks on religious processions of the majority community. I believe that the demography of the entire country has completely changed. It is under a well-thought-out strategy. This has happened due to vote traders. It is not only Sahebganj, Purnia, and Katihar. The demography of 400 districts has changed drastically, Giriraj Singh told a news agency. The BJP has distanced itself from the yatra, saying Giriraj Singh was doing it in his personal capacity, but leaders were free to join in their individual capacities. The first phase of the yatra started from Bhagalpur, will cover Katihar and Purnia Araria, and culminate in Kishanganj on October 22. The yatra is being held a year ahead of the scheduled assembly polls in Bihar. The BJP has not been able to overcome the caste divisions in the state as voters pick up candidates and parties based on caste lines. The resultant polarisation owing to the yatra may help create a sentiment in favour of the BJP. These minorities dominated districts bordering West Bengal. As the yatra is centred on the theme of demographic change, it finds resonance in Bengal and even in Jharkhand which is going to polls next month. The BJP has vociferously raised the issue of changing the demographic profile of the Jharkhand where tribals were now losing their edge owing to population imbalance. The BJP has already talked about bringing NRC in the state if voted to power. All eyes will be on the conduct of the yatra and its intended goal.

Taking out Yatra as Hindu: Giriraj Singh denies BJP, NDA affiliation
PATNA: A day after BJP distanced itself from his Hindu Swabhiman Yatra, union minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday contended that he was taking out the Yatra as a Hindu as it was neither affiliated with BJP, JD(U) or NDA. Singh will embark on his much-hyped Hindu Swabhiman Yata from Bhagalpur on Friday. He was talking to newspersons in his Lok Sabha constituency, Begusarai, before leaving for Bhagalpur. While contending that his yatra is non-political, Singh said, I am taking out yatra as a Hindu under the disciple of Swami Dipankar Ji. It is not connected with BJP, JD (U) or NDA. Singh said that his Yatra was aimed at awakening the Hindu community in Bihar, particularly in view of the recent anti-Hindu incidents in Bangladesh. He also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by alleging that he wanted to push the country into civil war and so he kept making statements without any seriousness. He referred to Rahul`s remark that the formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir without statehood was incomplete. Had it been such a case, Rahul should not have participated in the election process in Jammu and Kashmir itself, Singh commented. BJP firebrand leader`s yatra will conclude in Kishanganj on October 22 after passing the Muslim-dominated districts of Katihar, Purnia and Araria in the state`s Seemanchal region. On Wednesday, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal had made it clear that union minister`s Yatra was not affiliated with and was not taking place under the banner of the BJP. While asserting that the yatra will not affect Chief Minister Nitish Kumars secularism agenda, he said, There is nothing to be worried about the yatra. Earlier, JD (U) chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar also objected to Singh`s decision to hold the yatra, alleging that Neeraj Kumar said that the people of Bihar were already awake and watchful and so there was no need for such an act (yatra). He also firmly distanced his party from Singhs yatra and asserted that the Bihar government under Nitish Kumar worked for all communities, including Hindus and Muslims in the Seemanchal region.

The water level of various rivers has been rising across the state in view of incessant rains over the past two-three days. Incessant rainfall in the catchment areas of Nepal has also pushed the water level of rivers, either touching or flowing above the danger level at several places in the bordering districts. Following the heavy discharge of water from these two barrages, the excess river water entered low-lying areas in Jogapatti, Nautan, Gaunaha, Bagaha-1, Bagaha-2, Ramnagar, Majhaulia and Narkatiaganj blocks in West Champaran and several areas of East Champaran, officials said. An alert has already been sounded in several districts of Bihar as the IMD predicted heavy rain and warned of low to moderate flash flood risk in parts of the state. According to the Water Resource Department, the water levels of major rivers in Bihar are fluctuating, with several crossing the danger mark due to continuous rainfall.

PATNA: In yet another incident of bridge collapse in Bihar, a portion of a bridge on Friday collapsed due to flood water in Bhagalpur district, inviting sharp criticism from the Opposition. No one was injured in the incident. In a statement released by the Bhagalpur district magistrate (DM) office, one of the pillars subsided due to excessive rise in water level, caused by heavy rainfall in the state. The bridge connects Pirpainti Dominia Chowk and Babupur via Bakhtiyarpur Road as road traffic was massively disrupted after a portion of it collapsed. The district administration has prohibited two-wheeler riders and pedestrians from crossing any bridges due to rising floodwaters. Around 20 big and small bridges have collapsed in the past few months. The incidents of bridge collapse took place in Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran and Kishanganj districts. In Nitish Kumars regime, the roots of corruption are as deep as the pillars of the bridges are shallow. Therefore, in the last 2-3 months, hundreds of bridges, small bridges and mega bridges built or under construction at a cost of thousands of crores have collapsed, he wrote on X. Didi writes to Modi, says DVC released water without consulting Bengal govt
KOLKATA: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sent Prime Minister Narendra Modi another letter on the flood situation in West Bengal, maintaining that Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) released water from its reservoirs without consulting her government, inundating several districts. Responding to Banerjees earlier letter to the PM, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil had said the states officials were informed at every stage about the release of water from the DVC reservoirs, which was essential to prevent a major disaster. To which Banerjee said, While the Honble minister claims that the release from DVC dams was carried out by consensus and collaboration with the Damodar Valley Reservoir Regulation Committee, including consultations with representatives of the government of West Bengal, I may respectfully disagree. All the critical decisions are made unilaterally by representatives of the Central Water Commission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India without arriving at a consensus, she said. Statement on reservation misquoted: Rahul Gandhi clarifies amid BJP uproar Now, he has got support from separatists, who always talk about dividing this country. They (separatists) and the most-wanted persons are also appreciating Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against Sikhs. When such people, who are also experts in manufacturing bombs, are supporting Rahul Gandhi, then he is the number one terrorist of the country. He is talking like a separatist. There should be a reward for catching him as he is the biggest enemy of the country, he added. Bittu alleged that Congress earlier tried to use Muslims, but as that could not happen, it was now attempting to divide Sikhs. Gandhi talks about OBCs and other castes. Jharkhand has three major enemies JMM, Congress and RJD: PM Modi
RANCHI: While addressing a 'Parivartan Yatra' at Jamshedpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Jharkhand has three major enemies: Congress, JMM and RJD. PM Modi had earlier announced 6 rallies in Jharkhand ahead of the assembly polls. The PM attacked the ruling alliance in the speech. RJD is taking revenge over the formation of Jharkhand and it is an open fact that the Congress hates Jharkhand. These people may go to any extent in greed of power and money, said Modi. The PM alleged JMM of supporting Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators. Do you know why it happened? Because the ghost of Congress has entered into the JMM, and when the ghost of Congress enters into any party, appeasement becomes the only agenda of that party, said Modi. For this, first they sacrifice the interests of Dalits, tribals and backward society, the same is happening with JMM, he added. He added that although the JMM was established on the basis of tribal votes, today they are standing with Congress, who have snatched the forest land of tribals. Do you know that there is only one most dishonest party and family in this country? It is the Congress Party and the Congress family; all the streams of corruption originated from there only, he added. PM Modi said that Jharkhand was created with big dreams, but all these dreams got sacrificed to corruption. JMM people also get training from there. All of them have come from the Congress School of Corruption, said Modi. PM Modi landed at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on Sunday morning. He flagged off 6 Vande Bharat trains virtually from the airport. Due to heavy rains in Jamshedpur, PM Modi cancelled his trip to Tatanagar railway station, so he virtually flagged off the trains from Ranchi. PMs road show which was scheduled on Jamshedpurs Bishtupur Main Road was also cancelled due to the incessant rain. Later, however, the PM left for Jamshedpur from Ranchi via road. The Vande Bharat trains flagged off by PM Modi will run between Berhampur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Howrah-Gaya, Dumka-Howrah and Howrah-Bhagalpur. These trains will enhance religious tourism in the region by offering quicker transportation to pilgrimage destinations such as Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar (Jharkhand), Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Kalighat, and Belur Math in Kolkata (West Bengal).

Cong slams PM on J'khand visit, says depriving tribals religious identity
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Jharkhand, the Congress on Sunday asked why are the people of Jamshedpur still facing the problem of poor connectivity and also accused the PM of depriving the tribals their religious identity and refusing to recognise the Sarna Code. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh also asked why the Adityapur Industrial Area had not received environmental clearance yet. The non-biological PM is in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand today. He should answer these three questions to the people of Jharkhand, Ramesh said in a post in Hindi on X. Why are the people of Jamshedpur still facing the problem of poor connectivity, he asked. Ramesh said that despite being an industrial hub, Jamshedpur is facing the problem of poor transport connectivity. PM Modi Virtually Flags Off Six Vande Bharat Trains to Boost Connectivity in Eastern India
New Delhi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated six new Vande Bharat Express trains aimed at enhancing connectivity across Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. The ceremony, originally planned to take place in person from Tatanagar, had to be conducted virtually due to poor weather conditions and low visibility, which prevented the PMs helicopter from taking off.
