The collapse of a suspension bridge in Gujarat's Morbi town that claimed 135 lives did not affect the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) winning streak in the constituency as its candidate won by more than 62,000 votes. Five-time MLA Kantilal Amrutiya's victory margin on Thursday was almost 15 times that of Brijesh Merja who had won by 4,600 votes in the 2020 byelection on a BJP ticket. This time, Amrutiya managed to win more than 1.14 lakh votes, while his closest rival, the Congress's Jayantilal Patel, received 52,000 and the Aam Aadmi Party's Pankaj Ransariya got nearly 17,500 votes. Amrutiya shot to nationwide fame when videos showing him jumping into the river to rescue people after the bridge collapse on October 30 went viral. He was hailed as Morbi hero. While Amrutiya had won from Morbi five times in the past (he had lost in 2017 and 2020), Congress's Jayantilal Patel had lost five times to his BJP rivals earlier. OPINION | How Modi scripted landslide win in Gujarat

Gujarat Election results 2022: The people of Gujarat scripted history on Thursday by giving a record-breaking landslide win to BJP in the assembly elections. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will take oath on Monday (Dec 12), after his party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, virtually steamrolled the opposition. BJP has been ruling in Gujarat for the last 27 years, and by 2027, it will have completed 32 years of uninterrupted rule. In the evening, while addressing a victory rally outside BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi said that the people of Gujarat have broken all past records, both in seat share and vote share, since the formation of Gujarat. BJP won a whopping 156 out of a total of 182 seats, while the previous record was set in 1985 when the Congress had won the highest number of 149 seats. BJPs vote share this time rose from 49.1 per cent five years ago to 52.5 per cent this time. Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal who had been flourishing a supposedly Intelligence Bureau report about his party likely to get majority, had to eat humble pie. AAP won only five seats, while the main opposition Congress which had won 77 seats five years ago, could manage to win only 17 seats this time. The celebration outside BJP headquarters on Thursday evening clearly depicted the aura of brimming self-confidence. Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, most of the cabinet ministers were present, while several thousand BJP workers thronged the rally. Modi said, the victory is big, the responsibility is big, and we have to fulfil the aspirations of peopleI had said during my campaign that Bhupendra will have to break Narendras record and he did it.Since 2002, each of my steps was scrutinized and criticized, but I never took umbrage. I ensured that there must be no mistake. India is going ahead in its march towards progress and our aim is make India a developed nation by 2047. There were wild celebrations by jubilant BJP workers in almost all the cities of Gujarat. Firecrackers were burst along with drumbeats, and the workers sprinkled coloured power on one another. BJPs voting percentage of 52.5 per cent said it all. Even if the votes of all the opposition parties and independents are counted together, the BJP left them behind. The 1985 landslide win of Congress under Madhavsinh Solanki took place in the aftermath of Indira Gandhis assassination that had triggered a huge sympathy wave across the nation. The Congress, at that time, had set up the KHAM caste combination consisting of Kshatriyas, Harijans, Adivasis and Muslims. This time, Modis 156 landslide win broke all previous records. None of the caste combinations worked. This was the seventh consecutive victory for BJP in Gujarat. The tsunami of popular support for Modi was complete. Bhupendra Patel will be the first CM of Gujarat to sit in the assembly with the support of more than 150 MLAs. He was made the CM only 15 months ago, in September last year. At that time he had the support of only 99 MLAs. On Thursday, Bhupendra Patel thanked Gujarat BJP chief C. R. Patil, the man behind the gargantuan state party machinery. The CM said, the landslide win indicates the level of love and trust that Narendra Modi enjoys among the people of Gujarat. To understand the reasons behind the landslide win, one needs to go through the results from Ahmedabad and Surat. In Ahmedabad, BJP won 19 out of 21 seats, a strike rate of 90 per cent, while in Surat, it swept all the 16 seats, a strike rate of 100 per cent. BJP got good support from Muslim dominated constituencies in Ahmedabad too. Kejriwals AAP had pinned high hopes on Surat, but failed to open its account. Congress too failed to win a single seat in Surat. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, who won from Majura seat in Surat, said, the people have soundly replied to all those parties who were trying to divide Gujarat. Harsh Sanghvi belongs to the new, young crop of BJP leaders. Alpesh Thakore, who left Congress and joined BJP, won from Gandhinagar seat. Patidar movement leader Hardik Patel who left Congress and joined BJP won from Viramgam. After their victory, both Alpesh Thakore and Hardik Patel said, Congress is no more working for the aspirations of the people of the state. They said, Congress views on national and religion-related issues were totally opposed to the prevailing sentiments of Gujarati people. This, they said, was the reason why Congress had to face a shameful defeat. Hardik Patel went a step further. He said, there is no space for any other party except BJP in Gujarat for the next 25 years. If the Congress does fails to reform itself, it will cease to exist in Gujarat, he added. The result from Morbi, where the hanging bridge disaster killed 130 people and took place a few days before the announcement of elections, surprised everyone. Keeping popular sentiment in mind, BJP denied ticket to its sitting MLA and minister Brajesh Merja and fielded Kantilal Amritiya, who had personally jumped into the river to save many lives. Amritiya won by a margin of 61,580 votes. BJPs win in Gujarat after the end of polling was a foregone conclusion, but nobody expected the Congress to fare so badly. AAP leaders, who were claiming that they would come to power, never dreamed that they would have to contend with only five seats. Opposition leaders, who were saying a few days ago that Modi had to take out a 50-km long road show in Ahmedabad to save his party from defeat, had to eat humble pie. The landslide victory of BJP in Gujarat was not achieved because of Modis five-day campaign and four-hour road show. The Prime Minister had begun preparations for Gujarat five years ago, when BJP won only 99 seats in 2017. Modi had then made up his mind to score a landslide win in 2022. He worked hard to achieve this objective. After the 2017 elections, several Congress MLAs deserted their party, one by one, and joined BJP. Modis eye was also on local and caste equations. He targeted those leaders who had a good base among tribal voters. Modi inducted three MPs from Saurashtra in his cabinet, and then prepared his plan to take the wind out of anti-incumbency wave. In a single stroke, he replaced the entire bunch of ministers in Gujarat, including the then chief minister Vijay Rupani. He made a Patidar, Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister, and after a few days, brought Hardik Patel and OBC leader Alpesh Thakore into BJP. With full care, Modi laid out his matrix of local and caste equations, and stumped the Congress completely. In his poll campaign, Modi spoke of Gujarati pride (asmita), and in the span of a month, he launched a large number of projects, captivating voters. He ensured that Gujarat bagged the Rs 20 billion semiconductor project and the Air Force transport aircraft project. After preparing the field, Modi went full throttle in his campaign, covering each region of Gujarat. He made emotional appeals to the people, and reminded them of the old record of Congress rule. The result was, BJP broke all records in vote and seat share in the history of Gujarat. The reason behind the historic defeat of Congress also lies in BJPs victory mantra. Congress failed to get the requisite number of seats (18) to claim the post of leader of opposition in the assembly. Top Congress leaders on Thursday refused to speak about the partys worst performance in Gujarat. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, on being asked, briefly said: What can we say since we have lost. We will sit together and analyse. We will find out why we lost. What Kharge said, graphically describes the reason behind the pathetic state of Indias oldest political party. Congress leaders may be at a loss to explain the reasons behind the pathetic performance, but lower level Congress workers know why their candidates lost. They went to the state party office in Ahmedabad on Thursday, when the counting was going in. They pulled down a countdown clock and smashed it into pieces. The countdown clock was installed by Gujarat election in-charge Rajasthan minister Raghu Sharma, on which was written, the countdown for change has begun. There will be Parivartan (change) on December 8. Some Congress workers went out on the streets and loudly said, it is not BJP but Gujarat Congress leaders, who made our party lose. It was left to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to rub salt into their wounds. He said, Congress was out of race when the election began. Gujarat was going to the polls, but the Congress leadership was busy with Rahul Gandhis Bharat Jodo Yatra. If such a situation continues, Rahul Gandhi will have to take out a Congress Khojo Yatra. It is true that the Congress did not fight the Gujarat elections seriously. Rahul Gandhi made a guest appearance only once in Gujarat and addressed two rallies. Priyanka Gandhi did not go to Gujarat for campaigning. The party was fighting the elections under Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and his confidante Raghu Sharma. The new Congress president Kharge addressed a few rallies during the last leg of elections. Kharge may be an old hand and experienced Congress leader, but I feel that if anybody expects that Congress will get votes in his name in Gujarat, then it is simply mindless. Congress made this mindless mistake. The party leadership may now come forward with several arguments. Some may say that Rahul Gandhi is not accountable because he did not campaign in Gujarat. Some have already started saying that AAP and Asaduddin Owaisis AIMIM ensured the defeat of Congress by dividing the Muslim vote bank. I feel such arguments are useless. I have gone through the results of Gujarat in detail. Kejriwals party won only five seats. There are 36 seats, where if the votes polled by Congress and AAP are added, then the sum is more than what the BJP candidates polled. Out of these there are 13 seats including Khambhalia, Jamjodhpur, Dharmapur, Limbdi, Limbkheda, Byara, where AAP got more votes than the Congress candidates. In other words, AAP lost these seats due to Congress. There are 23 seats, where Congress candidates lost because of AAP. So, AAP leaders can also claim their candidates lost due to Congress. I think this argument is incorrect. Kejriwals claim about IB report indicating AAPs win in Gujarat, is now being openly mocked by BJP leaders, including party chief J P Nadda and state party chief C R Patil. Nadda is right. Kejriwal had given it in writing that BJP will lose and Gujarat will witness a change. Kejriwal had also made three more predictions. He had predicted that his state party chief Gopal Italia, CM candidate Isudan Gadhavi and Alpesh Katharia will win by big margins. All three of them lost. Gadhvi lost in Khambhalia, Italia lost in Katargam and Katharia lost in Warchha. For Kejriwal, the only relief is, his party garnered 12.9 per cent votes. Isudan Gadhavi made the claim that, AAP may have won five seats this time, but in 2027, it will repeat BJPs landslide win. Kejriwal is right that AAPs performance in Gujarat was more than expected, but less than was being claimed. He however succeeded in getting his 10-year-old party the status of a national party from the Election Commission. Kejriwals party scores well in those states where the Congress is either weak or is not fighting the election strongly. In Uttarakhand, Congress gave a tough fight to BJP, and most of the AAP candidates forfeited their deposits. In Punjab, Congress leaders fought among themselves, and AAP got a bumper win. The latest example is Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress fought the BJP, scored a majority, and AAP got only 1.1 per cent votes. It failed to win a single seat.

Raghav Chadha raises Kartarpur Sahib issue in Parliament, kept this demand

Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) veteran leader and Rajya Sabha member from Punjab Raghav Chadha on Friday (December 9) raised the important issue of devotees visiting Shri Kartarpur Sahib in Parliament. He enumerated the problems faced by the devotees going there during this period and also asked the House to take important steps for them. Actually, a passport is mandatory for the pilgrims going to Shri Kartarpur Sahib, along with this they also have to pay a certain fee. Chadha has demanded changes in these essential rules. AAP MP Raghav Chadha said that when the Shri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor was opened a few years ago, the whole world was shaded in the colors of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Raghav Chadha has said that every person wants to go there to visit Shri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara, but the devotees have to face many problems. The first problem is a passport. You must have a passport. If you do not have a passport, you cannot visit Shri Kartarpur Sahib. The Government of India should take up this important issue with the Government of Pakistan. He said that the second problem is that every pilgrim has to pay a fee of $20, which is about Rs 1600, to go for darshan. If 5 members of the family want to go every year, then they will have to spend 8 thousand rupees for the year. Ahmedabad: The results of the Gujarat and Himachal assembly elections were declared today i.e. Thursday, 8 December. During this, the BJP has once again registered a landslide victory in Gujarat. Whereas in Himachal Pradesh, Congress has got a majority. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has been in the headlines continuously, was able to win some seats in Gujarat, but its account in Himachal was not even opened. Arvind Kejriwal, who claimed a big victory in Gujarat, appeared happy even after this crushing defeat. Expressing gratitude to the people of Gujarat, he said that next time with your blessings, we will be able to conquer the fort of BJP. In fact, AAP has got 13 percent votes in Gujarat, after which its path to becoming a national party has become easier. However, it is yet to be announced by the Election Commission. Regarding this, CM Kejriwal has said that today AAP has become a national party. Gujarat election results are coming, many results have come and many more are yet to come. The people of Gujarat have made AAP a national party. According to the number of votes AAP got in the Gujarat elections, according to the law, the party will getthe status of a national party. The BJP defeated Nitish Kumar's JD(U) in the by-elections held in Bihar's Kudhani seat. The biggest thing is that the JD(U) candidate on this seat also had the support of RJD, Congress, and Left parties. BJPcandidate Kedar Gupta is contesting against JD(U) candidate Manoj Kushwaha in the Kudhani assembly seat in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. Kushwaha also had the support of coalition parties. AAP was backed by BJP in Gujarat polls: Congress leader Siddaramaiah

Gujarat Elections Congress leader Siddaramaiah alleged the BJP funded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat to divide the Congress votes. PTI Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday, December 7, alleged that the BJP funded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat to divide the Congress votes. As the saffron party is set to return to power for the seventh time in a row, the Congress stalwart in Karnataka said the fledgling party splurged huge money in the Gujarat elections. In Gujarat, the AAP spent a lot. My information says that the BJP funded the AAP to divide the Congress vote. Because the AAP contested the election, we lagged behind, Siddaramaiah told reporters in Mysuru. He said the new entrant got 10 percent of the votes reducing the Congress' vote share. The AAP spent huge money in the election. They spent more than Congress. Yet, they are leading in six seats, the former Chief Minister said. To him, the BJP winning in Gujarat was not a matter of surprise. There is no surprise that BJP is coming to power in Gujarat because the AAP contested the election and ate away our votes in all the seats, he added. Seeking to downplay the impact of Gujarat election results in poll-bound Karnataka, the Congress leader said the wave in one state will never have an effect in the other state.

Gujarat Assembly elections: CM Bhupendra Patel wins from Ghatlodia

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday won a second consecutive victory from the urban constituency of Ghatlodia with a margin of 1.92 lakh. The BJP has already announced that Patel will retain the post of chief minister. Patel got 2,12,480 votes, against 21,120 votes polled by his Congress rival Amiben Yagnik. AAP candidate Vijay Patel was in the third place with 15,902 votes. Patidar-dominated Ghatlodia seat, which is part of the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, has given Gujarat two chief ministers -- Bhupendra Patel and Anandiben Patel. It is a stronghold of the BJP. In 2017, despite the Patidar quota agitation which made things difficult for the ruling party, Bhupendra Patel had won the seat with a margin of 1.17 lakh votes. Ghatlodia, which has around 3.70 lakh registered voters, was carved out as an assembly constituency following delimitation in 2012. Earlier, it was a part of Sarkhej constituency. In 2012, Anandiben Patel had won the seat with a margin

Morbi's 'Hero' won! Saved people's lives by jumping into the river

Ahmedabad: The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party lashed out at the BJP over the Morbibridge accident in October, but the BJP's bet cost both parties heavily. BJP candidate and Morbi hero Kantilal Amritiya, who saved lives by jumping into the river in the midst of a bridge accident, has won a bumper victory. He has been MLA 5 times before from BJP. Kantilal has got a total of 1,13,701 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Jayantilal Patel by 61,580 votes. In the bridge accident in October, Kantilal saved many people by jumping into the river without caring for his life. After this, in November, the BJP gave an opportunity to the sitting MLA and minister in the state government, Brajesh Merja, by denying him the ticket. As per the expectation of people's sympathy and support, Kantilal won by a very good margin. The BJP's vote share stood at 59.21 percent. In the year 2017, Kantilal Amritiya, who was contesting on behalf of the BJP, had to face defeat in front of Brajesh Merja of Congress. In the year 2020, Brajesh Merja left Congress and joined BJP. After this, Brajesh was the BJP's candidate in the by-election, but this time, after Kantilal emerged as a Hero in the Morbi bridge accident, the party gave him a chance in place of Brajesh Merja and the political calculations were perfect. Congress candidate Jayantilal Patel got 52,459 votes. Debutant Pankaj Ransariya of Aam Aadmi Party got a total of 17,544 votes. A total of 17 candidates were in the fray. AAP's candidate Pankaj Ransariya and 14 other candidates failed to save their deposits as well. Morbi went to polls in the first phase of the 2022 assembly elections on December 1. Compared to the 2017 assembly elections, this time the voting turnout proved to be 67.16 percent, 4 percent less. OPINION | Delhi MCD results: Lessons for Kejriwal, BJP and Congress

Delhi MCD results : Aam Aadmi Party captured the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday, ending BJPs 15-year rule. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals party won 134 seats in the 250-member municipal corporation, which commands the seconds largest civic body budget in India after Mumbai. BJP managed to bag 104 seats, much less than its 2017 score of 181 seats. The Congress was virtually decimated. It managed to get only a single-digit score of nine seats, compared to the 31 seats it had won five years ago. Congress seat share was reduced to nearly one-third. BJP consoled itself by saying that though its seat share was reduced, its vote share jumped from 36.1 pc to 39.1 per cent this time. AAPs vote share rose from 26.2 pc to 42.1 per cent. The bottomline is clear: Kejriwal won and the BJP lost the MCD polls. But the significant point to note is that Kejriwals top ministers lost most of the wards in their respective constituencies. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, facing charges of corruption in liquor and school scams, lost three wards in his Patparganj constituency to BJP. On Wednesday, Sisodia avoided mentioning this, but said, that kattar beimaan (extremely corrupt) leaders lost and the people of Delhi voted for kattar imaandar (extremely honest) leaders. Another controversial minister in Kejriwal cabinet, Sayendar Jain, presently cooling his heels inside Tihar jail on money laundering charges, faced defeats in all the three wards of his Shakur Basti constituency to BJP. A third minister Kailash Gehlot, named in liquor and bus purchase scams, lost all four wards in his Najafgarh constituency to BJP and independent candidates. AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, named in Delhi Waqf scam, lost 4 out of 5 wards in his Okhla constituency, two to BJP and remaining two to Congress. The moot point is: voters of Delhi took the charges of corruption against AAP leaders seriously. BJP leader Kapil Mishra said, the MCD poll results clearly indicate the beginning of the end of the road for Arvind Kejriwal. In his acceptance speech, Kejriwal took a careful stance. He said, we will have to end corruption. It is a big responsibility. The people of Delhi have given us a message. We are a party of good and civilized people. We do not indulge in negative politics. We have shown that we can get votes if we provide good schools and hospitals. The results indicate that though the BJP circulated videos of Satyendar Jain inside Tihar jail and highlighted corruption charges against Sisodia, these had effective impact only in the constituencies of these leaders, but not in other constituencies. This does not mean that by winning the MCD elections, AAP leaders facing charges, have got a clean chit from the people. It is for the courts to decide on matters relating to money laundering and corruption. These are issues on which Kejriwal will also have to take a call, sooner or later. In his acceptance speech, Kejriwal also indirectly indicated that his party AAP is emerging as a new political alternative in India. He said, even after 75 years of independence, there has not been adequate progress, and the people are unwilling to wait any more. Our party will prefer positive politics, and provide better schools, hospitals and other facilities. BJP leaders may cite various reasons for losing the MCD polls, but I do not agree with most of their arguments. Kejriwal did not get as many seats in MCD as he had claimed. BJP may have got 30 seats less than AAP, but a victory is a victory. There is no force in the argument that anti-incumbency factor worked in Delhi due to BJPs 15-year rule in MCD. My counter is: In Gujarat, BJP has been ruling consistently for 27 years, and on Thursday, it scored a historic, record-breaking landslide win. The anti-incumbency factor did not work in Gujarat. BJP will have to think afresh about Delhi. It lacks an impressive personality in Delhi politics who can challenge Kejriwal. It has no counter to challenge Kejriwals free electricity, free water offer. BJPs organisational setup in Delhi is not well-coordinated. It lacks new leaders, and most of the older ones are completely out of sync with the new voters. Despite all these, the core BJP voter in Delhi is still with the party, and this is reflected in its rising vote percentage. One must not forget that Kejriwals party failed to win a single Lok Sabha seat from Delhi in the last two general elections. The people of Delhi unreservedly voted for Narendra Modi. The same voters in Delhi supported Kejriwal in the assembly and MCD elections. If there is one party which lost its core base consistently in Delhi, it is the Congress. It is the Aam Aadmi Party which has gained from Congress weaknesses during the last ten years. BJP should worry about its performance in the seven Lok Sabha constituencies that it had won in Delhi in 2014 and 2019. While MCD results from Gautam Gambhirs, Manoj Tiwaris and Dr Harsh Vardhans LS constituencies show that BJPs performance in their wards was satisfactory, the performance in the remaining four LS constituencies was poor, and the AAP defeated BJP in most of the wards. In Gautam Gambhirs East Delhi constituency, BJP won 21 out of 33 wards, while AAP won nine. In Manoj Tiwaris North East Delhi constituency, BJP won 21 out of 41 wards, while AAP won 17. In Harsh Vardhans Chandni Chowk constituency, BJP won 16 out of 30 wards. The most pathetic performance of BJP was in Minister Meenakshi Lekhis New Delhi constituency, where AAP won 20 out of 25 wards, leaving five for BJP. In Parvesh Vermas South West Delhi constituency, AAP won 24 out of 38 wards, leaving 13 for BJP. In Ramesh Bidhuris South Delhi constituency, AAP won 25 out of 40 wards, leaving 14 for BJP. In Hansraj Hans North West Delhi constituency, AAP won 27 out of 43 wards, leaving 14 for BJP. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa claimed that there have been no deficiencies in the partys policies, strategy and leadership, and the party lost the wards because of poor performance of some of its sitting councillors. Congress leaders in Delhi claim that their vote share this time has increased from 4 pc in assembly polls to 11.7 pc in MCD poll this time. While analysing data, it was found that the Congress has got support from areas that are Muslim-dominated. In other words, Muslim voters in Delhi have started shifting from Kejriwal to Congress. Kejriwal had suggested during the Gujarat elections that the images of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi should be printed on currency notes. He maintained a complete silence when the convicts in Bilkis Bano gang rape and murder case were released from Gujarat jails. He also maintained silence on Delhi riots. Muslim voters in Delhi this time have reacted by opting for Congress instead of AAP. Kejriwal may have won the MCD polls, but his partys vote share has decreased by 11 pc compared to assembly election vote share. BJP lost control over MCD, its number of seats was reduced, but its vote share increased by one per cent. It means, the core vote bank of BJP in Delhi has remained intact. Congress vote share may have increased, but the message is clear: there is no chance for the 137-year-old party in the near future. 188 Congress candidates lost their deposits in the MCD polls this time. The decline of Congress in Delhi continues. Compared with 2017 MCD poll percentage, Congress share has decreased from 21.1 to 11.7 per cent, a roughly 10 per cent decline.

At the same time, Raghu Sharma, in-charge of Gujarat Congress, has resigned taking responsibility for his party's defeat in the state. However, after the crushing defeat of Congress in the state, the process of accusations and counter-allegations also started. State Congress president J Thakor has said after the party's defeat that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Owaisi's AIMIM cut our vote. Speaking to the press, J Thakor said, It is true that AAP and Asaduddin Owaisi were one of the reasons for congress votes being cut during elections. We will hold a meeting soon to analyze the shortcomings. I hope the next government will fulfill its promises.'' On the BJP getting a clear lead in Gujarat, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that there is pro-incumbency in this state. We are creating a new record in Gujarat because the people of the state have a lot of faith in PM Modi. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Patel said the Gujarat model has been accepted with the support of the people since 2000-2001. The model we are presenting to the country is being accepted. BJP registered victory in the Kurhani Assembly bypoll

PATNA : In a major victory against Nitish-Tejashwi's Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, the Bhartiya Janata party logged victory in the Kurhani Assembly bypoll on Thursday. After 23 rounds of counting, Kedar Prasad Gupta of the BJP defeated Manoj Kushwaha of the JD(U) by a margin of 3,645 votes. Manoj Kushwaha received 73,016 votes, while Kedar Gupta was able to secure 76,648 votes. Manoj Kushwaha departed the centre after the 22nd round of counting. Anil Sahani of the RJD previously held the position, however, he was removed after being found guilty in LTA fraud. The BJP has sent a strong message to the Mahagathbandhan, a seven-party coalition in power in Bihar, with this victory. For the chief minister Nitish Kumar and the deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, this seat was also a prestige matter. Lalan Singh, the national head of the JD(U), had even set up camp in Kurhani for the majority of the time to keep this seat. The Mahagathbandhan may be affected if Manoj Kushwaha loses in the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2025 Assembly elections. The JD(U) and RJD have been preparing to discredit the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election since the creation of the grand coalition government in Bihar. But in just two months, the BJP has triumphed in two by-elections, Gopalganj and Kurhani. BJP Rajya Sabha Member Sushil Kumar Modi said: The Mahagathbandhan ran a vigorous campaign during the Kurhani byelection. In this election, they used Lalu Prasad Yadav's name and played the sympathy card, but their candidate still came in last. Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, held Kurhani in high regard. He made repeated trips there to campaign, but the JD(U) candidate was unsuccessful. There is no moral justification for Nitish Kumar to continue serving as chief minister. Following JD(U) won only two seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Nitish Kumar resigned from his position; he ought to do the same after the Kurhani by-election Sushil Kumar Modi said. Following their victory in Kurhani, BJP leaders and supporters lit fireworks and chanted Jai Shri Ram at the party headquarters in Patna. Defeat in Gujarat, victory in Himachal: Bittersweet day for Congress

Politics While Congress seems to wrest Himachal from BJP, it suffered a crushing defeat in Gujarat where its likely to get just 10 percent of the seats in the 182-member assembly with the AAP getting over 12 percent of the vote share. PTI The Congress on Thursday suffered its worst-ever defeat in Gujarat but appeared headed for a close win in Himachal Pradesh, a mixed bag result for the party that not only faces a rampaging BJP but an ambitious AAP vying for the leadership of the Opposition going forward on the road to the 2024 general elections. While the grand old party seemed likely to wrest Himachal Pradesh from the BJP and keep the ivaj (tradition) of alternate governments in the hill state alive, it suffered a crushing defeat in Gujarat where it was likely to get just 10 per cent of the seats in the 182-member assembly with the AAP getting over 12 per cent of the vote share. In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress found itself in a better position leading on 40 seats with a vote share of over 40 per cent with the AAP at a dismal third with about one per cent vote share. However, a dismal showing in the Gujarat polls comes as a big jolt for the party as it risks ceding the space of opposition in the state to the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in a state which has been bi-party over the years. It would also impact its bargaining power vis-a-vis other Opposition parties. Also, losing Gujarat badly could also add to the exodus of leaders that the party has been facing. Asked about the results coming in, former Congress leader Sanjay Jha, who had also been a party spokesperson, said the Congress is paying a spectacular price for its self-inflicted mammoth Punjab disaster where it gave away the state on a silver platter with golden ribbons to its nemesis, the AAP.Naturally an emboldened AAP sees Congress as a low-hanging fruit. That explains the dismal withering away in Gujarat and Delhi, he told PTI. The decimation in Gujarat would not only have a bearing on the morale of the Congress and its workers that has been running high on the back a successful rollout of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, but also impact the party's ability to mobilise support and resources for future electoral battles. Manindra Nath Thakur, who teaches political science at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, termed the Gujarat loss a disaster for the Congress and said it could lend credence to the argument that the AAP may replace or challenge the grand old party in bi-party states. The Congress faces more danger from the AAP going towards 2024. The BJP is in a comfortable position and the AAP could swing the anti-BJP vote towards it if Congress does not rework its strategy. The AAP can put up a challenge for the Congress next in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh also, he told PTI. However, the prospect of a Himachal Pradesh win had given the leaders of the party something to cheer about. The party, currently in power on its own only in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, is likely to add one more state, albeit a small one, to its kitty. The likely victory will also be significant for the party especially because its electoral clout in the north has been on a decline for more than a decade now. The Himachal Pradesh comeback is a huge morale booster because it has been able to reclaim the state despite a massive BJP election machinery, Jha said. This should give the Congress hope for both 2023 and 2024 albeit a lot will depend upon how it recharges the party after the Bharat Jodo Yatra concludes, he told PTI. The results come a day after the Congress suffered yet another setback when results of civic body elections in Delhi came in on Wednesday, with the party finishing a distant third, winning only nine of the 250 wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The AAP unseated the BJP in the MCD, winning 134 wards. The BJP won in 104 wards. The MCD and Gujarat defeats and a confidence boosting Himachal Pradesh performance had left the party with more questions than answers on the road to the 2024 general elections. Its Opposition leadership still remains challenged by parties such as the AAP and the TMC, and the jury is still out whether the Bharat Jodo Yatra would pay electoral dividends or not. A sterner test awaits the party with a slew of assembly polls next year including in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. The road to 2024 is long and the journey appears to be getting difficult for the grand old party that has pinned its hopes on the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra for a revival. Whether that will happen, only time will tell.

This leader had made Ghee Laddoos even before the counting, now had to face defeat

Patna: As the counting of votes for the Kudhani Assembly by-election is increasing further, the fight is becoming very tough. BJPcandidate Kedar Gupta defeated JD(U)'s Manoj Kushwaha by over 3,600 votes. However, a formal announcement is yet to be made. The same VIP had even made pure ghee laddoos in the capital Patna a day before the counting of votes. Now it will be known only after the announcement whether BJP's Kedar Gupta or JD(U)'s Manoj Kushwaha will eat Laddu. Given the results that were visible after the counting of the 13th round, it would not be wrong to say that Mukesh Sahni's VIP vote has proved to be a setback. However, everything will be clear only after this result comes. BJP's Kedar Gupta was leading in the first round. Kedar Gupta got 4,194 votes while JD(U)'s Manoj Kushwaha got 2,195 votes. In Bihar's Kudhani assembly by-election, the Grand Alliance has faced defeat from the BJP. In Kudhani, deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav's emotional card also did not work. Current Laga Re song launch: Ranveer Singh assures that theres more to Cirkus than what was shown in the trailer: Rohit Shetty has saved everything for the film. Watch the film. Its an absolute RIOT

The launch of the song Current Laga Re from Cirkus was a fun-filled affair. It brought together the real-life couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone on stage and their chemistry off-screen and on-screen added to the fun. Ranveer, in his trademark style, raised laughs and he also promised that theres a lot more to Cirkus than what is shown in the trailer. Ranveer Singh revealed that he rehearsed for ten days for the shoot of the song Current Laga Re to match up with Deepika Padukone. He added, Mujhe pata tha ki waise bhi , sab log Deepika ko hi dekhenge ! Even when I see the song, I cant help but focus only on Deepika. I had to do something. Hence, I thought I should practice and put my energy into it. Warna aap logon ne bhi dekha ki nazar udhar hi jaati hai ! Deepika Padukone, at this point, chipped in, I dont agree. In any song, the minute you come in front of the camera, (for the audience), its about connecting with that person thats in front of you. I am fortunate to have someone like Ranveer who is so trusting, which is not the case often. You find actors often who are always trying to overpower or overshadow. You really value that, when you find a co-star whom you can really trust. We have had that in our previous films and you can see that in the song as well. We are not trying to be one up on each other. Its really about two people as characters enjoying themselves. Thats what you see on screen. We can joke about up energy and low energy. The truth is what you are seeing is the chemistry that comes out of trust. Ranveer Singh continued, Theres trust not just among co-stars but on Rohit Shetty sirs sets, theres inclusivity. Everybody has a part to play. Theres team work. You see the song and you cant help but smile. Its not just owing to one person. Its thanks to the whole team working together. When Rohit sir makes the film, its inclusive for the audience as well. Its so inviting as if hes telling the audience Come to the theatre. Ill make sure you have a good time. I cant wait for the audience to see it. After 2-3 years of the difficult time that we have all been through, this film is poised to give the audience that old feeling of joy which we have missed for so long. Finally, Ranveer assured, Let me tell you. You have not seen anything in the trailer. He has saved everything for the film. Watch the film. Its an absolute riot. When you come out of Cirkus , youll feel so light and happy. That was the idea. We are here to serve the audience. Who will be the CM of Himachal Pradesh? Tussle of chair began with the victory

Shimla: The results of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections are handing over power to Congress. In the 68-member Assembly, the Congress is leading in 37 seats. At the same time, the ruling BJP is having28 seats. Three independent candidates have also got a chance here. However, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has not even been able to open its account. However, with the huge possibilities of Congress forming the government, the fight has started among the leaders for the CM's chair. State Congress chief Pratibha Singh, former state president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Mukesh Agnihotri, veteran leader Sudhir Sharma and Vikramaditya Singh, son of former CM Virbhadra Singh, are in the race for the CM post. But, Pratibha Singh is said to be at the forefront of the rest. If Congress makes her CM, Pratibha Singh will be the first woman chief minister of the state. Pratibha Singh is the wife of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi. Virbhadra Singh had a lot of dominance over the state Congress since he became CM in 1983. Whenever the party formed the government, Virbhadra became the CM. This is the first election since 1983 when Congress contested without Virbhadra Singh after his death. Former Himachal Congress president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is also in the race for the post of CM. Sukhu has contested from Naudan's seat. He is also the head of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee. Mukesh Agnihotri is also endeavoring to become CM, he is a four-time MLA. Prior to 2017, he had also held important portfolios in the Virbhadra Singh-led government. At the same time, another contender for the post of CM, Vikramaditya Singh, is the son of Mandi MP Pratibha Singh. He has been elected for the second consecutive time from Shimla Rural. After the death of Virbhadra Singh, Vikramaditya was declared the new king of Rampur Bushehr state. However, political pundits say that since Vikramaditya is very young, he is not a contender for the chief minister's post. 'Bhupendra will break Narendra's record', Modi's prediction in Gujarat come true

Ahmedabad: The BJP seems to be heading towards a historic victory in Gujarat. According to the counting trends, the BJP has won 55 seats out of 182 and is leading in 102. If these trends summarize into results, the BJP will break the Congress' record of winning 149 seats in 1985. According to sources, Bhupendra Patel will take oath as chief minister on December 11 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Congress had won 149 seats in the 1985 elections under the leadership of Madhavsinh Solanki. The BJP will break the record of the congress' biggest victory if it crosses the 150 mark. In the 2002 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 127 seats. Interestingly, during the election campaign, PM Modi had said that Bhupendra will break Narendra's record. In the trends revealed so far, PM Modi's prediction seems to be coming true. According to the trends, the BJP is leading in 157 seats out of the total 182 seats in the Gujarat Assembly. At the same time, Congress is leading in 11 seats and has won 6 seats and Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in 3 seats and has won two seats. Whereas, independents and other candidates seem to be proceeding in 3 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a major setback in the Gujarat elections, as all three big leaders of AAP lost the election. AAP's CM candidate Ishudan Gadhvi, the party's state unit president Gopal Italia and Patidar leader Alpesh Kathiria have lost elections from their respective seats. Gujarat elections: BJP wins Morbi where 135 people were killed in bridge tragedy

Gujarat Elections The BJP had denied a ticket to the sitting MLA and instead fielded five-time MLA Kantilal Amrutiya, who was photographed taking part in rescue work after the bridge tragedy. TNM Staff Morbi bridge collapse, BJP candidate Kantilal Amrutiya/PTI and Facebook About a month after the collapse of a heritage suspension bridge at Morbi in Gujarat claimed 135 lives, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in the constituency. BJP candidate Kantilal Shivlal Amrutiya defeated Congresss Jayantilal Jerajbhai Patel by 62,079 votes. Kantilal is a five-time legislator and last won the Morbi constituency in 2017. The Morbi constituency is dominated by the Patidar community. It has received widespread attention since the tragic bridge accident on October 30 killed 135 people. While the sitting MLA from BJP in Morbi is Brijesh Merja, a minister in the Bhupendra Patel government till now and a former Congress leader, the BJP chose Kantilal over him. Kantilal, a former Morbi MLA, was photographed participating in rescue works after the bridge tragedy. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fielded Pankaj Ransariya, a youth candidate who had criticised the BJP government over the bridge tragedy. The 100-year-old heritage bridge over the Machchu river in Morbi, collapsed soon after being opened to the public after renovation. The suspension bridge had been reopened for the public just four days before the accident, after a private firm carried out repair works for seven months. However, the bridge had not yet received the municipality's fitness certificate. The bridge had been given to Oreva Group for operation and maintenance for 15 years. It was closed to the public for renovation in March this year, and was reopened on the Gujarati New Year day celebrated on October 26. Soon after the incident, the prosecution told a Gujarat court that the contractors who carried out the repair work on the bridge were not qualified to carry out such jobs. The Gujarat High Court has criticised the Morbi municipal authorities for awarding the bridges repair work to the Oreva Group without a tender. It also questioned the government on how Oreva Groups Ajanta Manufacturing Limited was allowed to maintain the bridge between 2017 and 2022, even after the relevant agreement had ended.

According to reports, the Congress party has so far won 16 seats, while it is leading in 23. Whereas, BJP has won 12 seats and is leading in 14. Other candidates have won 2 seats and leading in one. Gujarat polls: BJPs Hardik Patel locked in tight contest with AAP candidate

Elections After trailing for a while, Patel had taken a slender lead of 2,371 votes over Amarsinh Thakor at the end of four rounds of counting. PTI Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and Patidar leader Hardik Patel was locked in a neck-and-neck contest with Amarsinh Thakor of the Aam Aadmi Party in urban Viramgram assembly, early trends showed. After trailing for a while, Patel had taken a slender lead of 2,371 votes over Thakor at the end of four rounds of counting. Vote count in favour of Patel stood at 14,304 votes, compared to 11,933 votes for Thakor. The sitting MLA of Viramgam, who hails from Congress party, was seen coming a distant third, with 3,921 votes in his bag. A native of Chandranagar village in Viramgam taluka, Hardik Patel was born and brought up in Viramgam town. He shot into prominence following the 2015 Patidar agitation for reservation in jobs, which he led. That agitation was widely credited for an impressive performance by the Congress party in 2017. Patel later joined the Congress party, but differences with the leadership of the party made him switch to BJP. Given the nature and caste composition of the Viramgam seat, it was never easy for 29-year-old Patel to get the voting arithmetic right. There are an estimated 3 lakh voters in Viramgam, including 65,000 Thakors (OBC), 50,000 Patidars, 35,000 Dalits, 20,000 Muslims and 20,000 from the Bharwad and Rabari castes (OBC). There are also 18,000 Kolis (OBC) members and 10,000 Karadia Rajputs, also an OBC caste. The constituency is considered insulated from caste politics as leaders from different segments of society and religions, including a minority community, have represented it so far. Viramgam segment, which comprises Viramgam, Mandal and Detroj talukas of Ahmedabad, has been with the Congress party since 2012. The last time BJP held Viramgam constituency was in the 2007 polls. While Bharwad relied on his past performance and work done for the people, Hardik, who joined BJP in June after spending some time in Congress, made a host of promises, including getting the status of a district for Viramgam. Other key promises included building a modern sports complex, schools, 50-bed hospitals each in Mandal taluka, Detroj taluka and near Nal Sarovar, 1,000 government houses in Viramgam town, an industrial estate, gardens etc.

'BJP trying to buy our councilors...', alleges Manish Sisodia

New Delhi: The results of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD Election) have been declared and Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has registered a landslide victory in this election. Results for all 250 wards are out and AAP has won 134 wards. Meanwhile, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made serious allegations against the BJP. Sisodia has alleged that the BJP is trying to take their corporators, but this will not happen. Sisodia said that no corporator of 'AAP' will come under the temptation of the BJP. Sisodia said that the newly elected councilors have been instructed to record any such phone call they receive. Meanwhile, even after the election defeat, a BJP leader has said that the post of mayor is an open race and whoever has the numbers can choose their mayor. On the other hand, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has said that the elected councilors will vote for the mayor's election and Chandigarh also has a BJP mayor. Although the Aam Aadmi Party became the largest party with 14 seats in the 35-seat Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, they could not elect their own mayor due to lack of a majority. On the other hand, another BJP leader Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga claimed that Delhi will once again have a BJP mayor. If Gilchrist, Sangakkara Could Do It, Why Can't KL Rahul, Asks Salman Butt On Keeper-opener Role

Mumbai, Dec 8, With Rohit Sharma injuring his thumb, India decided to send former skipper Virat Kohli to open with Shikhar Dhawan in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka. But both Kohli and Dhawan failed to give the team a good start and India went on to suffer a narrow five-run defeat against the hosts and lost the series 2-0. The decision to send Kohli instead of regular opener K.L Rahul, who is also discharging the role of the wicketkeeper as Rishabh Pant has been rested for the ODIs, surprised many including former Pakistan captain Salman Butt. Butt said Rahul should have opened for the side since he had been a specialist opener for the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. In an analysis of India's defeat to Bangladesh in the series on his official Youtube channel, Butt said the Indian team management should not have tried to shield Rahul as the keeper-opener role has been essayed quite successfully by the likes of Australia's Adam Gilchrist, Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara and currently Quinton de Kock does it for South Africa. Rohit Sharma ko injury hui, toh obviously Virat Kohli ne open kiya. Aapke paas KL Rahul regular opener hain, vo kyun nahi gaye open karne? Ispe behes ye hogi ki unhone wicketkeeping ki hui thi. Duniya me bohot saare players hain jo wicketkeeping ke saath open karte hain. Adam Gilchrist karte rahe, Kumar Sangakkara karte rahe, Quinton de Kock karte hain, kya ye utne fit nahi hain? Ajeeb si baat hai. (Rohit Sharma got injured and Virat Kohli opened. But you have a regular opener in KL Rahul, why did he not open? Some will argue that Rahul had kept wickets, but there have been a lot of players who have opened for the side after keeping wickets, like Gilchrist, Sangakkara and Quinton de Kock. Is Rahul not as fit as them? It's very weird), Butt said. Cheezein settled nahi hain. Aisa lagta hai ki practice chal rahi hai (things are not settled. It seems India were taking it as a practice match), the former Pakistan captain further added. Butt was not surprised at Bangladesh beating India in successive ODIs and taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series as they are quite a strong side in home conditions. Congress crosses half-way mark in Himachal; what about BJP?

SHIMLA : The Congress was leading the initial vote count in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly election. It crossed the half-way mark and was leading in 38 seats at around 11.45 a.m. The ruling BJP was leading in 33 seats earlier but, gradually slid to 26 and had won one seat, while the independents were leading in 3 constituencies. Hoshiyar Singh from Dehra, Hiteshwar Singh from Banjar in Kullu, and Ashish from Hamirpur Sadar, formerly the bastion of twice-elected chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, are independents and all BJP rebels. Early trends in the ballot count showed the Congress leading in the 68-member Assembly because Himachal Pradesh has not elected an incumbent administration to office in nearly 40 years. Jai Ram Thakur, the 57-year-old chief minister, triumphed in the Mandi district's Seraj, his stronghold. Mukesh Agnihotri, 60, and Sukhvinder Sukhu, 58, are two well-known Congress leaders who are in charge from the Haroli and Nadaun seats, respectively. The majority of exit polls indicated a close race between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is contesting the Assembly elections for the first time, has been absent from the state while its leaders concentrate on growing its support base in Gujarat. Rebels who had severed links with the mainstream parties have been holding in-door parleys with the conviction that there is no permanent enemy or friend in politics as they sense a neck-and-neck race between the BJP and the Congress. 'Hardik, Jignesh, Alpesh...', Will this young trio be able to succeed in Gujarat?

Ahmedabad: Today on Thursday, the results of the Gujarat assembly elections will come. The credibility of many political parties including BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party is at stake. In such a situation, the focus is on three young leaders of Gujarat. These leaders are Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor, and Jignesh Mevani. In the last elections, all these three leaders had become a challenge for the BJP, but this time the situation has changed. Of these, Alpesh and Hardik are contesting elections from BJP while Jignesh is trying his luck on the Congress ticket. In such a situation, it has to be seen whether the trio of young leaders of Gujarat can reach the assembly. Will Hardik Patel reach the assembly: Hardik Patel, who was the face of the Patidar reservation movement in Gujarat, left the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party just before the elections. Hardik Patel is contesting from his hometown Viramgam on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket, challenging Congress's sitting MLA Lakhabhai Bharwad. This is considered a strong seat of Congress and has been winning continuously for the last two elections. While Hardik is from the Patidar community, Lakhabhai Bharwad comes from a backward class. In such a situation, there is a close fight. Will Alpesh Thakor become an MLA again:- Alpesh Thakor, who made his identity as an anti-liquor agitator by forming the Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena, is contesting from the Gandhinagar South seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket, facing Himanshu Patel of the Congress and Devendra Patel of the AAP. In 2017, Alpesh Thakor became MLA from the Radhanpur seat of Banaskantha on a Congress ticket but later joined Bharatiya Janata Party. Contested the by-elections from Radhanpur in 2019, but could not win. PTI Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, December 7, thanked the people for AAP's victory in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls and sought the cooperation of the BJP and the Congress as well as the lessings of the Union Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve civic amenities here. He also cautioned party workers and new councillors to not be egoistic, saying ego ruins everything. And let everyone remember, don't live a life of ego and arrogance. Arrogance has caused the fall of the greatest empires, we have to live in reality, we have to work on the ground, we are all aam aadmis, we will live like aam aadmis, he added. The Aam Aadmi Party won the MCD polls with 134 seats, ending the 15-year rule of the BJP in the prestigious municipal corporation and reducing the Congress to just nine seats in a house of 250. The BJP, which was predicted to suffer a massive defeat in exit polls, put up a spirited fight, winning 104 municipal wards.I want to thank and congratulate all the people of Delhi from the bottom of my heart. This historic mandate is not ordinary, it is the advent of a huge 'badlaav' (change), a huge 'parivartan' in the MCD now, Kejriwal said at the party headquarters at the Rouse Avenue. Beaming with happiness, he said he had no words to express how blessed he felt seeing the faith of the people of Delhi in their son, in their brother.I will live up to your expectations now. We have all lived up to our words till date and will continue to do so in the times to come. Delhi gave us the responsibility of schools and hospitals, we transformed them, working day and night. We transformed the future of lakhs and lakhs of children through our hard work. Delhi gave us the responsibility of water and electricity, we gave them free water, free 24x7 electricity, he said. He said that now Delhi had entrusted their son with the job of cleaning this city's garbage, eradicating corruption from the municipality and putting all parks back in shape.I can't ever pay back for this love but I will do whatever it takes to fulfil every single responsibility with utmost care. I will not let you lose faith in us. I will work all day, all night, but I will live up to the mandate, he added. He congratulate the new councillors of not only AAP, but the independents, and those of the BJP and Congress too. We all have to now work together and serve Delhi. I appeal to all those candidates who have faced defeats to not get dejected today, we will solicit your cooperation in transforming Delhi, he added. Appealing to all candidates and parties to step aside from politics now that the elections are over, he said that everyone has to come together.I seek everyone's support for the cause of uplifting Delhi. Be it Congress, be it BJP, we will all work together so that we can build the Delhi of our dreams. The 250 councillors don't belong to any single party but to Delhi, it is upon your shoulders to carry the burdens of the common people now. I expect that all the parties will forget their divides and work in sync for Delhi to grow, he said. Among those who need to cooperate to help Delhi grow, the role of the central government is paramount, he said.Through this platform, I appeal to the Centre and the prime minister to cooperate with us and seek their blessings for our incoming government. We will depute every single Delhi'ite towards the cause of cleaning Delhi. We, the two crore people of Delhi, are one family. It is time to own up responsibility like a family. We have to also eradicate corruption, we will end the system of loot and 'lenter mafias' (illegal construction mafias). We will rid the MCD of all its problems, he added. Asserting that the people of Delhi have told the country loud and clear that the politics of honesty, education and healthcare can survive through this pool of muck, he said that they are a party of educated, well-meaning, honest deshbhakts. When I come across big politicians, they always tell me that this is not how you grow in politics, you need to abuse people, argue with everyone, live a hostile life. We don't have to indulge in negativity. We don't have to fall into their traps. They used to say building schools and hospitals doesn't convert into electoral wins, Delhi has shut everyone's mouths today, he added. Reiterating that India won't grow unless schools, hospitals are built, he said that no one will be able to stop the country from becoming number 1.We have won the fourth election today by talking about education, healthcare, electricity and water. Delhi has signalled the country that only positive politics can prosper going forward. We ran a positive campaign. We talked to the people about their issues. We took feedback on our work. We did not hurl abuses, hurt anyone or harm any sentiment. We talked about our merits. We walked the talk. I know for a fact that when the storm of positive politics takes over the nation, then no one will be able to stop India from becoming No 1. Hooliganism and violence won't serve the country, he added. Loud music and beats of dhol reverberated across the AAP office here which was decked up with colourful balloons as the party romped home victorious in the MCD polls. Workers danced to the beats of dhol and raised slogans hailing Kejriwal. As supporters and workers shouted 'Love You' to Kejriwal, he responded by saying I love you too. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia were also present at the victory celebrations of the party.

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud has given a big statement saying that India lives outside Delhi too. We have to understand that. He said We have to focus on district courts.'' He further said that an important component in realizing the Right to Justice is to ensure that there is a complete judicial infrastructure, starting from the district-level courts. He said that in colonial times, the architecture of our buildings was built with a sense of fear in the minds of those who seek justice and to create a division between the giver of justice and those for whom justice is done. This was done for partition. The Chief Justice further said that the understanding of justice has changed a lot now and now efforts are being made to ensure that people reach us, instead reach out to the people.
