Prime Video has unveiled the trailer of its upcoming Original movie Dont Be Shy, a young adult romantic comedy centred on friendship, first love, heartbreak and the complications of navigating life in the early years of adulthood. The film features newcomers Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal in the lead roles, alongside Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik in pivotal parts. The trailer introduces Shyamili Shy Das, played by Aarushi Bajaj, as a young woman whose carefully planned life takes an unexpected turn. As she attempts to regain control of her life, Shy finds herself navigating complicated feelings involving Mayank, played by Piyush Khati, and her estranged childhood friend Dhruv, portrayed by Ansh Duggal. The arrival of Tara, played by Bianca Arora, adds another layer to Shys increasingly complicated circumstances. What begins as an attempt to put things back in order gradually turns into a series of unexpected situations, new relationships and difficult choices, setting up the films romantic-comedy premise. Talking about the film, writer and director Sreeti Mukerji said, Dont Be Shy came from a place of missing the movies I watched growing upmovies I still return to when I want to feel safe, comforted, and entertained. This is my tribute to that time in our lives, when were on the brink of adulthood but still young in so many ways. Its about that feeling of being reminded that, no matter how weird or wild life gets, we can always find our way back home to ourselves. Im extremely grateful to Alia and Shaheen for trusting me to write this story and helping me build it. Of course, none of it would have been possible without Prime Video, who believed in this story and in me to bring it to life, and the incredible cast of Aarushi, Ansh, Bianca, and Piyush, who took the words on paper and turned them into living, breathing, beautiful characters. I cant wait for audiences everywhere to meet the gang on September 25! View this post on Instagram A post shared by prime video IN (@primevideoin) Aarushi Bajaj said, Playing a character so different from who I am was both challenging and exciting, and stepping into Shys shoes pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. Playing the role of Shy also came with a sense of responsibilityI wanted to give her everything I had and do justice to her journey. I cant wait for audiences to finally meet her and experience the world through her eyes. Bianca Arora added, My character has a very different way of looking at things, and thats what made this role so much fun for me. Tara almost felt like she gave me permission to be my most expressive self on camera, and I found a lot of joy in discovering that side of her and myself. After everything weve put into Dont Be Shy, Im beyond excited for audiences to finally watch it. For Ansh Duggal, the project marks his first film. He said, Theres something surreal about knowing that my very first film is about to be watched by audiences around the world. Im nervous, excited, and just incredibly grateful to be starting this journey with Dont Be Shy. Its a feeling I dont think Ill ever forget. Piyush Khati said, Mayank is a character with so many layers, and getting into his shoes was both a challenge and a really fun exercise. I found little parts of myself in him that surprised me along the way. And what makes this film even more special is the journey weve had as a group, from being four newcomers figuring things out together to now seeing our film ready for the world to experience. Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions, Dont Be Shy will premiere on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on September 25, 2026. B.R. Chopras Mahabharat to air on Shemaroo TV from September 14
B.R. Chopras television adaptation Mahabharat is set to return to television as Shemaroo TV brings the series to its viewers from September 14. The show will air daily at 7:00 PM on the channel. First televised decades ago, Mahabharat became a widely recognised adaptation of the Indian epic, with its characters and storylines becoming familiar to generations of television audiences. The series explored themes including dharma, family, loyalty, duty, ambition, sacrifice and the conflict between good and evil. The return of the series comes amid continued interest in television classics and shows that audiences can watch with their families. Through its portrayal of the Mahabharat, the B.R. Chopra series introduced viewers to characters including Bhishma Pitamah, Arjun, Karna and Yudhishthir, among others, while focusing on their relationships and individual conflicts. Mukesh Khanna, who played Bhishma Pitamah in the series, recalled how the role came about and its impact on his career. He said, I never imagined that a character I played decades ago would become something people would still discuss with me today. I remember, I was actually offered Duryodhan first, but I refused because I wanted to play Arjun or Karna, and somehow, I ended up becoming Bhishma Pitamah. Looking back, that decision changed my life completely; Bhishma became the role people remember me for even today. The most amazing part was that everyone would watch the show with their families. That is when we realised this was no longer just a television show; the characters had become a part of peoples lives. Im delighted that Shemaroo TV is bringing B.R. Chopras Mahabharat to its viewers, giving us all a chance to revisit those unforgettable memories. Im looking forward to seeing these characters live on TV once again and experiencing that same affection from audiences all over again Gajendra Chauhan, who portrayed Yudhishthir, also reflected on his association with the series. He said, The best part about playing Yudhishthir was that he was such an important character that whether he was present in a scene or not, he was always being discussed. That made the character incredibly significant to the story and made the journey very special for me. Today, seeing B.R. Chopras Mahabharat find its way to Shemaroo TV feels special because it brings back not just a legendary story, but the characters and memories that audiences have held close for so many years. For viewers familiar with the original series, the telecast offers an opportunity to revisit a popular television adaptation, while younger audiences will get a chance to discover the series and its interpretation of the epic. The shows return also brings its ensemble of characters and its narrative around family, relationships and duty back to television. Shemaroo TV has positioned the telecast as part of its programming aimed at audiences across age groups. The channel will begin airing B.R. Chopras Mahabharat daily at 7:00 PM from September 14. Alia Bhatt, Nikhil Madhok of Prime Video, director Sreeti Mukerji and producer Shaheen Bhatt attended the trailer launch of their film Don't Be Shy at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The venue was designed like a college festival, complete with fun activities and stalls serving gola, candy floss and more. However, the event began nearly two hours late, leaving the media waiting for a considerable time. To add to the disappointment, the proceedings wrapped up in just around 30 minutes. Thankfully, Alia Bhatt made the wait worthwhile with a hilarious childhood anecdote involving her sister, Shaheen. Alia began by saying, 14 years ago, I made my debut as an actor. And 14 years later, I am today introducing four new actors and a debutant director. I am way more nervous than they are right now (laughs)! I really have butterflies in my stomach. She was asked if she ever had the desire to work in this film as an actor as well. She replied, No, I don't think I ever felt that. I love being an actor and being in front of the camera. But being a producer has another sort of fulfilment; it gives me another level of joy. We have been involved in building the world and the story from the word 'Go', since Sreeti came to us with an idea. She expressed the desire to make the film on it. We said, 'Yes, let's do it together'. It took two years to build it out, after which we took it to our lovely partners at Amazon. On Friday, we sent over the material to them and on Saturday morning, Nikhil messaged, 'Alia, let's speak' (smiles). The host then asked Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, Nikhil Madhok and Sreeti Mukerji the meaning of Gen Z terms like Aura farming, breadcrumbing, side quest, brainrot, ragebait, etc. Alia raised laughs as she shared, Ragebait was what Shaheen used to do to me as a kid. She used to say to me that I came free with Parle-G! Like I was not really my mom's and my dad's (child) and that I came free with Parle-G (laughs). So, that was Shaheen ragebaiting me when I was 4. Then, the trailer of Don't Be Shy was shown to the attendees, followed by the films leading actors Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora, and Ansh Duggal coming on stage. Don't Be Shy releases on Amazon Prime Video on September 25. Also Read: Alia Bhatt REACTS to Ajay Devgns Drishyam The Conclusion trailer: Hat-trick incoming

Virender Sehwag to make streaming debut as host of Rise and Fall Season 2
Virender Sehwag is set to take on a new role as the host of Rise and Fall Season 2, marking his streaming debut as a reality show host. Prime Video has unveiled the first glimpse of the upcoming season, which follows the power-driven format introduced in its first season. Known for his cricket career and outspoken personality, Sehwag will now step into a reality game where contestants have to navigate changing alliances, strategies and positions. The newly released promo features Sehwag reflecting on the ups and downs of life before entering the world of Rise and Fall. The second season will once again revolve around the contrasting worlds of a penthouse and a basement. Fifteen celebrities will be divided into two groups the Rulers and the Workers. While the Rulers have access to the privileges of the penthouse, the Workers will operate from the basement. The contestants will have to make strategic decisions as money, influence and alliances become important parts of the game. Their positions can change based on their choices, making strategy and timing key factors in their journey. Speaking about the new season, Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of AVOD Content, Prime Video India, said, The love and excitement audiences showed for Rise and Fall in its first season gave us the perfect reason to take this unique power game forward. Season 2 brings a fresh set of personalities into a format where power is always in motion, and every decision carries a consequence. With Virender Sehwag stepping in as host, were bringing a whole new energy to the show; his wit, spontaneity, and fearless personality make him an exciting fit for the game. Were excited for audiences to experience the drama, strategy and entertainment in Rise and Fall Season 2, and watch it on Prime Video for free. Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO of Banijay Asia said, The overwhelming response that Rise and Fall received in its debut season reaffirmed the strength of its unique premise, where power, strategy and human behaviour come together to create an unpredictable game. With Season 2, we are taking that experience one step ahead with a new mix of personalities, fresh dynamics and even higher stakes, where every decision can change the course of the game. We are delighted to collaborate with Prime Video and look forward to bringing audiences a season filled with unexpected turns, strategic gameplay and moments that keep them invested till the very end. Speaking about his first reality-show hosting stint on a streaming platform, Virender Sehwag said, Cricket has taught me one thingno match is won before the final ball, and Rise and Fall Season 2 takes that unpredictability to another level. As a host, what excites me about this game is that there are no easy wins and no fixed positions. The biggest challenge isnt just getting to the top but knowing how to stay there. You have to know when to attack, when to defend, and, most importantly, when to read the game before it reads you. With money, strategy, and shifting equations in play, theres no room for complacency. Im looking forward to watching the contestants navigate the game, take risks, make alliances and show what theyre really made of. Rise and Fall Season 2 is an MX Original produced by Banijay Asia and originally created by Studio Lambert in the UK. Amitabh Bachchan reveals his unfulfilled passion on KBC 18: I still regret not learning music
Amitabh Bachchan recently opened up about an unfulfilled passion from his life during an upcoming episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18. The veteran actor spoke about his desire to learn music and expressed his regret over never having pursued it, offering viewers a rare glimpse into a more personal side of his life. The conversation took place when contestant Kritagya Nayyar, who is also a content creator, requested Amitabh Bachchan to participate in a fun game of This or That. Introducing his request, Kritagya said, Sir, meri ek request hai. Maine bataya tha ki main content banata hoon. Sir, aapse bada content creator koi bhi nahi hain iss country mein. (Sir, I have a request. I had told you that I make content. Sir, there is no bigger content creator than you in this country) Amitabh Bachchan responded with his characteristic humour, asking, Sir, kisne kaha aapko ye? (Sir, who told you this?) Kritagya then spoke about the actors contribution to cinema and the country before explaining that he wanted to play the game to create a reel and gain a few followers. During the interaction, Kritagya asked Amitabh Bachchan whether he would prefer to relive a day from his past or experience a day that he has never lived but always wanted to. The actor replied, Sir sahi mamle mai hamare jeevan mai itne ghatneye hue hai ke pata nahi konsa ho, aur dusra part na jeeya ho. (Sir, truly, so many incidents have happened in our life that we do not know which one it would be, and the second part, one that has not been lived) He then revealed that learning music has been one of his long-standing wishes. Amitabh Bachchan said, Sir sangeet hamne nahi sikha hai aur uske bahut khwaahish the. Ye log jo baja bajate hai, sitar hai, peti hai, gayeke jo hote hai vo bahot humko dhukh hota hai kyunki ke hum jab sunte hai kehte hai itna badhiya kaise gaa le, ye sab hota hai, ye hamne kabhi sikha nahi. Ghar mai sir jitne yantra hone chahiye sangeet sikhne ke liye voh sab ikkhatha kar ke rakha hua hai. Uske upar phool mala hum chadhate hai ke ek din ayega jab hum kuch sikhenge. Ab 84 varsh ho gaye hain, kuch nahi aaya hamein, tho iss baat ka humko bahut dukh hai. (Sir, we have not learnt music and we had a great desire for it. These people who play instruments, there is the sitar, there is the peti, those who are singers, it makes us very sad because when we hear them, we say how can one sing so beautifully, all this happens, we have never learnt this. At home, sir, all the instruments that should be there to learn music have been collected and kept. On top of them, we put a flower garland, that one day will come when we will learn something. Now 84 years have passed, nothing has come to us, so we are very sad about this.) The revelation comes as a candid admission from the 84-year-old actor, who has spent decades at the forefront of Indian cinema. While Amitabh Bachchan has explored several creative avenues throughout his career, his comments on Kaun Banega Crorepati revealed that learning music remains one passion he has never been able to fulfil. What began as Kritagya Nayyars attempt to get Amitabh Bachchan to participate in a social media-friendly game consequently turned into a more personal conversation. The megastars admiration for musicians and singers, along with his regret at never learning music himself, offered a different perspective on the legendary actor. Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 airs every Monday to Friday at 9 PM on Sony Entertainment Television. In an earlier interaction with Rediff, he recalled how his physical appearance influenced the kind of roles he received. He said, I came to Bombay. I started going to various offices, trying to find work. Slowly and surely, I got small roles in films. Because I was a muscular person, I used to get work as an action character. I used to do a lot of fights. I used to get beaten up by the heroes. In Kaala Patthar, I was in the introduction sequence for three heroes (Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha). Every hero would come, beat me up, establish himself as the hero and carry on with the film. I was a punching bag of the film, and that was the story of my life for the first 35 years of my career. Sayani Guptas US feature film debut Arya adds Ross Butler and Marc Evan Jackson as co-stars
Just weeks after her directorial debut Aasmani, a deeply personal short film about a 60-year-old grandmother and her 10-year-old granddaughter and their precious powder blue fiat, that marked her first outing behind the camera, was selected across ten film festivals on multiple continents within a span of two months, Sayani Guptas US feature film debut Arya has added two significant names to its cast. Ross Butler (Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why) and Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), have been roped in to play key roles alongside Gupta. The dual milestones underline just how expansive her presence has become this year, moving fluidly between acting, directing and producing across Indian and American cinema. In Arya, written and directed by Neil Tuli, Sayani plays the title role, that of a disciplined piano teacher from a well-known and prestigious Indian conservatory who reluctantly takes on an assignment in northern Minnesota, with hopes of rescuing a struggling band program while also fuelling her own career ambitions back home. But her arrival leads to some chaos, and Arya is forced to deal with her own personal insecurities. It's a role that continues Sayani Gupta's pattern of choosing layered, culturally specific characters. Only this time, she carries an entire American indie feature as its lead. Ross Butler and Marc Evan Jackson join a rounded-out cast that includes well-known artists like Arjun Gupta, Adi Roy, Kyra Leroux and Iqbal Theba. Sayani also serves as an executive producer on it as well, alongside Ross Butler. Written and directed by Neil Tuli, Arya serves as his feature directorial debut as well. However, what makes this moment a particularly significant is that it has arrived just as Sayani's directorial debut Aasmani, which she also wrote and produced, began its positive festival run, stretching from Washington DC to Tokyo to Kerala. Taken together, the two projects capture an actor who has spent over a decade building a reputation for depth on Indian OTT and is now stepping into new territory, both as a director whose first film is being appreciated globally and as a lead carrying her first American feature. Amar Upadhyay returns as Mihir Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi new promo unveiled!
Star Plus has officially confirmed one of television's most speculated comebacks Amar Upadhyay is set to return as Mihir Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The channel dropped a new promo announcing the development, putting an end to weeks of fan theories and speculation about whether the character would make a comeback to the show. The timing of the announcement coincides with Ganesh Chaturthi, adding a symbolic touch to the storyline, as the makers frame Mihir's return as an answer to Tulsi's prayers within the narrative. Speaking about his return, Amar Upadhyay said, Mihir mere liye sirf ek character nahi hai (is not just a character). He has been such a huge part of my journey, and the love audiences have given him over the years is something I have always carried with me. There has been so much chatter around whether Mihir is coming back. My fans have been eagerly waiting for my return and haven't stopped asking when I would be back on the show. Honestly, seeing their excitement has made this homecoming even more special. Shantiniketan mein wapas aana, Tulsi aur Virani parivaar ke beech Mihir bankar khade hona, brings back so many memories. It genuinely feels like coming home. But a lot has happened, equations have changed, and Mihir is returning to a family that has been through its own journey. I'm excited to see how audiences react when he finally walks back into their lives. View this post on Instagram A post shared by StarPlus (@starplus) Mihir's return isn't the only reunion in store for viewers. The show also marks the comeback of another original cast member as Aman Verma will be returning to his role as Anupam Kapadia, the brother of the iconic Mandira. For the unversed, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2 features several cast from the first season which includes Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan as Karan Virani and Nandini Virani, Sumeet Sachdev and Ravee Gupta as Gautam Virani and Damini Virani, Ritu Chaudhary as Shobha Virani Choudhary, Sandeep Baswana as Sahil Virani, and Suvarna Jha as the antagonist Tripti. With the Virani family set for a major reunion of sorts, the upcoming track promises to bring fresh drama to Shantiniketan. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi airs every day at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and is also available to stream anytime on JioHotstar. As period dramas continue to captivate audiences with their blend of history and storytelling, actors are increasingly becoming aware of the responsibility that comes with portraying characters from defining moments of the past. Saiee M Manjrekar has said that for her, authenticity goes beyond costumes and grand setsit lies in respecting the people, emotions, and historical context that inspired the story. The actor will next be seen in India House, an ambitious Telugu period drama produced by Ram Charan. Set against a significant historical backdrop, the film has given Saiee an opportunity to immerse herself in a world shaped by real events, reminding her that every creative decision carries the responsibility of doing justice to history while creating an emotionally engaging cinematic experience. Speaking about working on a film inspired by a real historical period, Saiee M Manjrekar said, There is something incredibly humbling about being part of a film that draws inspiration from a real chapter in history. When you're working on a contemporary story, you have a certain creative freedom in interpreting a character, but when the narrative is rooted in actual events or a specific historical period, you feel a much deeper sense of responsibility. You're not just playing a role; you are representing a time, a culture, and people whose stories deserve to be told with honesty and respect. That awareness naturally influences the way you prepare. You become more curious, you read more, you observe more, and you try to understand not just how people looked or spoke, but how they thought, what they believed in, and what shaped their lives. I think audiences today are incredibly informed, and rightly so. They appreciate authenticity, and they can immediately recognise when a film has been made with sincerity and care. She further added, What I loved about India House is that while it is mounted on a grand scale, its emotional core remains deeply human. The historical setting provides the backdrop, but at the heart of the film are people, relationships, dreams, sacrifices and choices that continue to feel relevant even today. As actors, our responsibility is to make those emotions feel truthful without losing sight of the historical context. Every detail from the body language and dialogue to the costumes and the world around us contributes to creating that authenticity. Being part of this project has been an enriching learning experience because it reminded me that cinema has the power not only to entertain but also to encourage audiences to reconnect with important moments from our past. I hope viewers are immersed in the world we've created, while also leaving the theatre with a deeper appreciation for the history that inspired it. That's the kind of storytelling I feel privileged to be associated with. With India House, Saiee M Manjrekar continues to explore challenging and meaningful roles while expanding her presence in multilingual cinema. Backed by producer Ram Charan, the period drama aims to bring together compelling storytelling, historical depth, and cinematic scale. Farah Khan has opened up about her early experiences working with Akshaye Khanna, recalling a time when the actors behaviour made him challenging to choreograph. The filmmaker and choreographer also acknowledged the change she noticed in Akshaye after Dil Chahta Hai and praised his dancing abilities. During a conversation on choreographers Bosco and Caesars podcast Dance Masti, Farah spoke about her experience of working with Akshaye in the earlier phase of his career. Recalling those days, she said, At one time, Akshaye Khanna used to be very difficult to work with. Farah went on to mention some of the projects where they worked together, including Doli Saja Ke Rakhna and Laawaris. She said, I have done Doli Saja Ke Rakhna with him, then a couple of other movies, Laawaris and something else. He, I think, himself has confessed in interviews that he was very difficult. He was very irritable and wouldn't want to stand. The choreographer admitted that the experience eventually led her to decide against working on Akshayes songs. I said if it is Akshaye Khannas song, I dont want to choreograph it, she recalled. However, Farah also pointed out that she noticed a transformation in the actor after Dil Chahta Hai. According to her, Akshaye became more comfortable with dance and performance over time. After Dil Chahta Hai, he had a transformation, I think. In Tees Maar Khan, he was too good. He is actually a very good dancer. But I was very clear that I don't want to work with artists who are irritating, she said. Meanwhile, Akshaye has continued to remain selective about his public appearances. He was recently spotted in Mumbai having lunch with filmmaker and friend Rajat Rawail. His appearance came around the time of the Drishyam 3 trailer launch. Akshaye had reportedly exited the third instalment following a disagreement with the makers over his look and fees, with Jaideep Ahlawat subsequently taking over the role. Akshaye was also seen in Aditya Dhars Dhurandhar, which released in December 2025 and featured Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. The actor is now set to appear as Shukracharya in Mahakali. The makers have released a nearly three-minute glimpse titled Shukracharyas War Cry, giving audiences a look at his portrayal of the powerful guru of the Asuras. Celina Jaitly remembers late son Shamsher on his birthday: Im heartbroken
Celina Jaitly remembered her late son Shamsher on his birthday on Thursday with an emotional post on social media. The actor shared a video she had recorded during a visit to Austria earlier this year, explaining that she was unsure when she would be able to return and wanted to preserve the moment as a memory. In her Instagram post, Celina spoke about her wish as a mother and shared that she hopes to be reunited with her son even after her lifetime. She wrote, My wish is that when my life reaches its natural end, I be cremated in my homeland, India, & my ashes be laid to rest with my son, Shamsher, in Austria. A mother's wish to be close to the child she could not hold for long enough. Addressing Shamsher, Celina explained why she had recorded the video during her Austria visit. She wrote, I did not get to see your brothers during that visit. Mummy is heartbroken, my son, but Mummy is strong. I keep going & keep living for your brothers, carrying all four of you in my heart, adding, Today, you were born alongside Arthu. You left us so soon afterwards, but you have never left me. She also reflected on the bond between Shamsher and his brothers, writing, I have seen the longing for you in Arthu's eyes & heard it in his words. I believe you watch over him. And somehow, through everything, I feel you watching over me too. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Celina Jaitly (@celinajaitlyofficial) Celina further spoke about the personal and legal difficulties she has faced while trying to navigate her family life. She wrote, I left my country, my parents, my work & everything familiar to build a life with my family. Today, I sometimes feel as though I must explain in words & documents what has lived in every breath of me since becoming a mother. How does a mother put a lifetime of love in front of a court?\ The actor also apologised to Shamsher for having to express her feelings through a recording rather than speaking directly to his brothers. She concluded her message by saying, I am sorry, my darling, that I have to say this through a recording. I wish I could speak to your brothers directly & remind them myself: Mummy is always here. My love has never moved away from you. None of you has to do anything to earn it. It is yours, forever. Happy birthday, my darling Shamsher & my darling Arthu. I will always be the mother of both the babies I brought into this world that day. Watch over Winston, Viraaj & Arthu, my son, while Mummy keeps finding the strength to move forward. Until we meet again, my darling Shamsher. Until we meet again. Forever your Mummy, she concluded. Celina is married to Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag. The couple welcomed twin boys in March 2012. In 2017, they welcomed another set of twin boys, but Shamsher died shortly after birth due to a heart defect. Celina has also been involved in legal proceedings concerning her family. In November 2025, she filed a case under the Domestic Violence Act against her husband in a Mumbai court, alleging emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse. She reportedly sought damages of Rs 50 crores, monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh and custody of their children. Her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly, was detained in the UAE in September 2024 in connection with an alleged national security matter. Celina later approached the Delhi High Court, which in November 2025 directed the Ministry of External Affairs to extend legal assistance to him. Shobhaa De calls Mirzapur: The Movie Monotonous; says, Maybe, Its meant for men
Shobhaa De has shared her reaction to Mirzapur: The Movie, admitting that the film did not work for her despite the popularity of the franchise. Shobhaa revealed that she had never watched the Amazon Prime Video series Mirzapur before deciding to watch its big-screen spin-off, directed by Gurmeet Singh. After watching the film, she said she was left questioning the decision to make it. In an Instagram Reel shared on Thursday, Shobhaa said, All I can say is Mirzapur: The Movie maybe should not have been made at all. She explained that she went into the theatre with expectations because of the franchises popularity and the buildup around the film. I went here with a lot of expectations, given the whole hype and the whole buildup to the brand Mirzapur. I came away feeling, What the hell is going on?, she said. While Shobhaa was critical of several aspects of the film, she praised its ensemble cast. She particularly highlighted Ravi Kishans performance as Babban Babua Yadav, calling it brilliant, while describing Ali Fazals portrayal of Guddu as unbelievably good. However, she was less impressed with Pankaj Tripathis performance as Kaleen Bhaiya. Mr. Tripathi playing Mr. Tripathi has become a bit too monotonous, Shobhaa said, adding, The same old expressions, the same old delivery. She also commented on the intimate scene between Pankaj Tripathi and Rasika Dugal, who plays Beena Tripathi. Shobhaa said she was surprised to see Tripathi, whom she referred to as Mr. Goodie-Goodie, doing a full-on sex scene. She described Dugals character as Lady Macbeth and vamp-ish. Among her other concerns were the films violence and storyline. Shobhaa described it as Otherwise violence of every conceivable kind for no reason and complained about a story that goes nowhere. The columnist also admitted that she fell asleep during the film for something like 15 minutes. According to her, two women sitting behind her were also snoring. Summing up her reaction, she said, Maybe, its meant for men. It wasnt meant for me. In her caption, Shobhaa revealed that she spent Rs 900 on the ticket and another Rs 260 on bhelpuri. She said she spent close to four hours wondering why I was watching a movie which had multiple set pieces randomly strung together. Mirzapur premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 and has completed three seasons. Meghna Gulzar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Gulzar attended the song launch of Daayra at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The event started very late but Kareena took the cake with her answers. Kareena Kapoor Khan began by saying, I am actually nervous for the first time because sharing the stage with Gulzar saab is a very, very, very big moment for any actor. Since childhood, I have seen his films. My mother-in-law, Sharmila ji (Sharmila Tagore), had the opportunity to work in so many films with him. The circle is complete because her daughter-in-law got to work with his daughter! Woh career hi kya hai agar uss career mein ek Gulzar saab ka gaana na ho! For me, its a full circle. I am just really happy that I got to work, sit next to you and under your blessings and wings, I got this opportunity to work with Meghna! A touched Gulzar replied, Bahut, bahut shukriya, beta, and all my blessings to all of you. Kareena is said to be the queen of expressions and she was asked about it. She said, Meghna is a taskmaster! She knows how to keep everyone in control. Her personality is such that she is loving and kind and yet she has that command on the set. I have worked with many directors in 26 years of my career. I have had great relationships with them. But with Meghna, it was like I had to always be in check. Even when I would be coming to shoot, I was like, No, no, we have to reach half an hour before! I dont want Meghna to get upset about anything (laughs). So, after 26 years, to have that makes me feel like a newcomer. It keeps us going as actors. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Bollywood Hungama (@realbollywoodhungama) She raised laughs as she said, My character Ajooni is very restrained. As you guys know, I am very expressive. Trailer launch pe maine sau expressions diye. Mujhe film mein mauka nahin mila; isliye maine trailer launch pe kar diya! She joked, In many shots, the camera was always on my face. But my legs were always shaking as I would wonder woh Bebo wala expression kab aayega! And shed be like No! Then, on an emotional note, Kareena Kapoor Khan added, I cant wait for September 18, the day Daayra releases. I want the audience to give me a birthday present as my birthday is on September 21. Hence, I am sure it's going to be amazing (smiles).
