Gurdeep Mehndi is slowly and steadily making his mark as a singer and composer. Recently, he released his latest single as a singer, Chan Mahi. He also features in the music video alongside Aditi Sharma, and its unique, cinematic visuals have been widely appreciated. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gurdeep opened up about his father, Daler Mehndi, and uncle, Mika Singh. Recently, Daler Mehndi was seen as an actor in Welcome To The Jungle, fronted by Akshay Kumar. In the past, Daler appeared solely as a musical performer or in special promotional appearances. Hence, Welcome To The Jungle marked his acting debut, where he played a character, though it was an exaggerated, meta-version of himself. On this, Gurdeep Mehndi said, It was a surprisingly, shockingly, magical performance! He has received several offers to act in films in the past, but he refused them all because he was fully devoted to music. Ahmed Khan, who directed Welcome To The Jungle, is a very good friend of papaji. He offered him the role in the film. My dad liked the idea of a fake army creating comedy. When we saw him in the film, toh hum bhi ekdum hairaan hue. It was very nice and good (smiles). When asked about his bond with his uncle, Mika Singh, Gurdeep replied, Hes an amazing person whos full of talent and knowledge. Hes someone who knows how to deal with the industry. Hes from the 90s Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag was released way back in 1997. To still have that sustainability and connect in 2026 is nothing short of magical. How many artists from the 90s are still relatable today? You can count them on your fingers, and hes one of them. I really learned a lot of good things about the industry and dealing with people thanks to him. A few years ago, Gurdeep Mehndi expressed a desire of organizing a concert featuring him, Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh. Is that a possibility it can become a reality in the upcoming concert season? Gurdeep replied, Only one man was able to bring three of us together Mr Mukesh Ambani! It was not a concert; it was a wedding (of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant). They wanted all three of us on stage. Now what happens is that everyone has their management team and they are all comfortable with their musicians. My management team said, We have no problem. Pay our fees and itll be done! The fees of all artists were paid and then, we had to reduce the number of musicians because itne saare musicians ek stage pe khade nahin ho sakte the. Its wonderful to see all 3 on one stage, but it is very difficult to handle the tech rider and the stuff. He added, So, until now only the Ambanis have managed to pull it off. But I am really looking forward to this concert, if this happens, where we all 3 are standing in one podium. Like his father, Gurdeep Mehndi also acted in a film Meri Shaadi Karao (2013). Does he have any more plans to act? Gurdeep Mehndi explained, It all depends on the script. I would really like to have a little bit of me in the character that I play. Hence, I would prefer a musical film or musical show and if I get such an offer, I would love to give it a try. Komal Nahta, one of Indias prominent trade analysts, has returned with a new season of his podcast Game Changers: The Music Series, which features conversations with singers, composers and musicians about their journeys, influences and experiences in the music industry. The latest episode featured musician Adnan Sami, who reflected on his early years in music and how his identity as a pianist gradually expanded to include singing. Speaking about whether he considers himself a musician or a pianist, Adnan Sami said that he has always primarily viewed himself as a pianist. He recalled developing an interest in music at a young age and beginning his journey with the instrument when he was five. Adnan said, I consider myself a pianist first. I always had a dream, since childhood, to be a pianist and a music composer. I started playing the piano at the age of five, and by the age of seven, I had composed my first piece of music. At the age of 15, I started making music and demos. I used to think, If Kishore Kumar and Rafi Sahab could sing my music, it would be so great. After a while, people started saying that the music sounded good in my voice. I never took it seriously, but when more people, apart from my parents, started complimenting me, especially my cousins, I started believing it. Adnan further explained that his transition into singing was initially driven by circumstance rather than a deliberate decision to pursue another musical identity. He said that he began lending his voice to his own compositions because he could not find other singers willing to record them. I started singing my songs because no one else wanted to sing them. Necessity is the mother of invention. In the beginning, when people introduced me as a singer; I felt weird, as I still considered myself a pianist. Then, with time, I got used to it, he added. Over the course of his career, Adnan Sami has established himself as a pianist, composer and singer, with his work spanning Indian film music and independent music. His conversation with Komal Nahta offers insight into the early stages of that journey and the circumstances that shaped his eventual career as a singer. Game Changers: The Music Series features conversations with personalities from the Indian music industry, exploring their creative processes, influences and career experiences. The latest episode featuring Adnan Sami is available on the YouTube channel for Game Changers: The Music Series. Kajol can own any silhouette: Here are 5 power-dressing looks that prove it
Kajol has been experimenting with her fashion choices, moving between structured tailoring, flowing silhouettes and layered ensembles that bring a distinctive personality to power dressing. Her recent style outings showcase how classic wardrobe staples can be reworked through interesting proportions, unexpected combinations and statement accessories. From sharply cinched blazers to monochrome layers, here are five looks that highlight Kajols evolving approach to power dressing. 1. The Classic White Power Suit View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) Kajol gives the classic white power suit a polished update with a sharply structured blazer that defines her waist. The fitted silhouette creates a sculpted shape, while the clean-cut trousers maintain the formal appeal of the ensemble. The combination keeps the outfit sophisticated without appearing overly elaborate, allowing the tailoring to remain the focus. 2. A Festive Take On Power Dressing View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) Kajol brings together deep green and rich red tones for an ensemble that carries a festive appeal while retaining the structure associated with power dressing. The fitted blazer paired with a long skirt creates an elongated vertical silhouette, giving the outfit a striking finish. The combination of colour, tailoring and feminine proportions gives the look a distinctive edge. 3. Where Grace Meets Structure View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) An ivory ensemble sees Kajol move away from sharply defined tailoring and embrace softer layers. Flowing details and an elongated silhouette introduce movement, while the feminine construction keeps the look elegant. A statement necklace adds contrast to the monochrome palette and becomes a focal point without overpowering the outfit. 4. Monochrome With A Playful Edge View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) Kajol continues her experimentation with tonal dressing in a layered look featuring a trench-coat-inspired silhouette over a tailored vest and trouser co-ord. The monochrome palette keeps the ensemble refined, while the neckline introduces a playful element. The look demonstrates how layering can add personality to otherwise classic tailoring. 5. The Boss-Lady Look With A Twist View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kajol Devgan (@kajol) For her final look, Kajol embraces an all-black ensemble that puts a fresh spin on conventional power dressing. Embellished studs on the blazer and statement accessories add a playful dimension, while the skirt replaces the expected tailored trousers. The unexpected pairing gives the outfit a more distinctive silhouette while retaining its commanding appeal. Kajols recent fashion choices highlight her willingness to experiment with traditional elements of power dressing rather than sticking to a single formula. Whether through structured suits, flowing layers, monochrome styling or unexpected separates, the actor continues to explore silhouettes that balance sophistication with individuality. Manoj Bajpayee praises Tukaram Mundhes dedication; says, Honesty makes you a celebrity
Manoj Bajpayee has praised Maharashtra food safety commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for his commitment to duty and public service. Mundhe has been receiving attention for his strict approach to food safety since taking charge of the department, with his inspections and action against businesses violating safety regulations drawing public notice. Speaking to ANI, Bajpayee reflected on how society perceives people who perform their responsibilities with honesty and dedication. According to the actor, it is surprising that individuals who simply carry out their assigned duties sincerely often end up becoming widely recognised. A police officer, or, lets say, Tukaram, is appointed to do a certain job. When he performs his duties with complete honesty and dedication, people find it surprising that he starts going viral. Have you realised this? Bajpayee said. The actor further pointed out that the popularity such officials receive says something about the current state of society. He added, This simply means that when someone is performing their duty with complete honesty, he becomes a celebrity. And that itself tells us where we, as a society, have reached. Mundhe, who recently took charge as commissioner of Maharashtras food safety body, has been conducting inspections and taking action against food establishments found to be flouting food safety rules. His strict working style has brought increased attention to the importance of maintaining food safety standards. Meanwhile, Bajpayee is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Last Man in Tower. Directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubatis Spirit Media, the film is based on Aravind Adigas novel of the same name. The movie also stars Divya Dutta and Boman Irani. In the film, Bajpayee plays Masterji, a retired schoolteacher whose decision to oppose the wishes of his community creates tension among the residents of his building. The story explores the choices, relationships and conflicts that emerge when the residents are confronted with a major change. Last Man in Tower is scheduled to arrive in cinemas across India on September 11. Also Read : Manoj Bajpayee buys 4.45-acre land parcel in Punes Mulshi for Rs 1.37 crore: Report
Kanika Dhillon has revealed the thought behind naming her film Gandhari, starring Taapsee Pannu. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the writer explained how the Mahabharata character became the inspiration for the film and why she wanted to reinterpret Gandhari beyond the way she has traditionally been portrayed in the epic. According to Kanika, Gandhari has often been seen as a character who remains on the sidelines of the larger events of the Mahabharata. For her upcoming film, however, the writer wanted to bring the character to the forefront and explore what would happen if she actively entered a battlefield of her own in pursuit of justice for her child. See my whole idea of merging this mother's quest with Gandhari was to reimagine Gandhari in this scenario because usually she has always been on the sidelines and of the periphery when we see her in the whole context of Mahabharata, she told Bollywood Hungama. Kanika Dhillon further explained that Gandharis iconic blindfold, traditionally associated with her decision to blindfold herself after marrying Dhritarashtra, became an important element of her reinterpretation. She wanted to explore the symbolism of the blindfold beyond her relationship with her husband. She went on to continue, Because she's blindfolded because for her love for her husband - her world begins and ends there. So, I wanted to expand that. She wanted to follow the path of dharma, did not want the fights to happen. But they say that putra moh mein (for the love of her children) she could not take the right decision or do the right thing. In the film, the idea of Gandhari entering the battlefield takes on a different meaning. Kanika wanted to imagine the character using her perceived limitation as a source of strength while fighting to find justice for her daughter. But in this story setting, I wanted to push that and I wanted to see what happens when Gandhari will enter the battlefield and play a very crucial role with her blindfold and fight this war for justice for finding her daughter, she added. Elaborating on the idea exclusively, Kanika said that the film allows her to move the character away from the periphery and give her a stronger voice and greater agency. The blindfold, she explained, is not merely a symbol of Gandharis devotion to her husband but becomes something that can be weaponised in her fight. Dhillon shared, So, the whole idea was to reimagine a character, which looked like is relegated to the periphery and is sometimes also judged harshly, in a different Kurukshetra, in a different battle and give her more agency, give her more voice, give her more strength. How the blindfold is a symbolism of not only for a husband but far beyond right and how she will even weaponize that to get justice for her child. Through Gandhari, Kanika Dhillon thus draws a parallel between the mythological characters complicated journey and a contemporary mothers fight for justice. Rather than presenting a direct retelling of the Mahabharata, the film uses Gandhari as a thematic reference point to explore motherhood, justice, strength and agency in a new setting.
