Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty underwent a successful surgical procedure at a private hospital in Kolkata on Thursday. According to hospital sources, the actor is currently in stable condition and is recovering well following the surgery. Chakraborty underwent the procedure to remove a metal plate that had been implanted after an earlier injury. The surgery was completed successfully, and the actor continues to remain under medical observation at the hospital. Sources have also stated that there have been no complications following the procedure. Amid the actors hospitalisation, actor and TMC politician Dev Adhikari visited him to check on his health. Netflix marked 10 years of its presence in India with the grand premiere of Operation Safed Sagar at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event brought together top Indian defence officials, war veterans, members of the real Golden Arrows Squadron, and the cast and crew of the series. In a first for a premiere red carpet, the Chiefs of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force came together for the event. Twenty-five years after Dil Chahta Hai made its mark on Hindi cinema, Farhan Akhtar has opened up about the challenges he faced while making the 2001 film. The filmmaker revealed that convincing actors to be part of a story centred on three friends was not easy, especially at a time when romantic dramas and love triangles were popular in Bollywood. Speaking to The Juggernaut, Akhtar recalled the difficulties he faced while casting the film, particularly Aamir Khan. Casting Aamir Khan wasn't an easy task. Everyone said, 'I don't want to do a multi-hero film' ... At the time, everyone wanted to do a love triangle. According to Akhtar, he was clear from the beginning that Dil Chahta Hai would not rely on the familiar storyline of two men competing for the same woman. Instead, friendship was intended to remain at the heart of the film. For me, the core of the film was about friendship and I wouldn't have two guys fighting over a girl, he said. Akhtar also spoke about his efforts to get Aamir Khan to hear the script. Despite his father Javed Akhtar having previously worked with the actor on Lagaan, Farhan chose not to seek a special introduction. Instead, he continued approaching the actor and waited for months for an opportunity to narrate the complete story. I didn't ask for any special introduction. I kept knocking on doors and waited eight months before Aamir agreed to hear the full script, Akhtar recalled. He added that Aamir later told him he appreciated how determined Farhan had been to cast him, as it demonstrated how strongly the filmmaker wanted him for the role. Released in 2001, Dil Chahta Hai went on to establish a new portrayal of friendship in mainstream Hindi cinema. Khanna spoke about the experience during an appearance on Shekhar Sumans talk show Shekhar Tonite, where he discussed the idea behind Bungalow and how Khan reacted to the space. His voice. His patience. His confidence. His compassion. His friendship. The chef also recalled becoming emotional during the meeting. He looked towards the glass ceiling to hold back his tears and noticed a crescent moon. He later connected the moment with memories of loved ones he had lost. The news has now been confirmed, as the three actors will be seen sharing the hot seat with Amitabh Bachchan in the opening episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18. The much-awaited new season of the popular quiz-based reality show is set to begin with a star-studded premiere featuring Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta, along with Sunny Deol, who will make his debut on the KBC hot seat. The trio will be joined by the show's legendary host Amitabh Bachchan. Season 18 of KBC has been designed around the theme 'Sochna Padega', which focuses on the importance of applied knowledge, thought and quick thinking. National Award-winning actress Kriti Sanon has opened up about the importance of maintaining mental and emotional well-being while working in the film industry. Known for taking on a wide range of roles across genres, the actress revealed that her approach towards acting and her own emotions changed after working on films such as Mimi and Do Patti. Speaking in an exclusive interview with TOI, Kriti explained that she once believed the characters she portrayed did not have any impact on her personal life. However, her experience with certain emotionally intense roles made her reconsider that belief. She said, Before Mimi and Do Patti, I used to believe that the characters I played never affected me in real life. But those two films made me realise that, even if you think you're unaffected, your characters always leave a subconscious impact. Kriti further explained that the effect of an intense character may not always be immediately noticeable. According to the actress, emotions or behavioural changes can sometimes emerge days or even a week after completing a role. Sometimes you notice it a week later, sometimes just a few days later, through the way you're feeling or reacting. That's when I understood how important it is to switch off from your character consciously. The actress also pointed out that actors need to learn how to separate their personal emotions from their professional responsibilities. She recalled instances when she had been emotionally low or dealing with difficult circumstances in her personal life but still had to perform in a comedy project. There have been many instances when I've been emotionally low or dealing with something difficult in my life, yet I've had to shoot for a comedy. That has happened to me quite often, she added. Emphasising the need to prioritise mental health, Kriti said, As actors, we're constantly tapping into and playing with our emotions, so I believe it's essential to take care of your mental and emotional well-being. She also suggested finding the right form of support, whether through meditation, therapy or other practices. Whether it's meditation, therapy, or anything else that helps you stay balanced, it's important to have that support. I meditate on and off, and that's something I personally find very helpful.
