Saiyami Kher completes third Ironman 70.3 in Italy, 20 minutes faster than before
Saiyami Kher has completed her third Ironman 70.3 after participating in the endurance race in Cervia, Italy, on September 19, 2026. With this achievement, the actor has continued her endurance sports journey and become the first Indian actress to participate in three Ironman 70.3 races. Saiyami first took part in an Ironman 70.3 in 2024 in Erkner-Brandenburg, Germany, where she successfully completed the race. She returned for her second event in Jnkping, Sweden, in July 2025. With that participation, she became the first Indian actress to successfully complete the endurance race twice. A year later, Saiyami participated in her third Ironman 70.3 in Cervia, Italy. Having already completed the race twice, she entered the event with more experience and a better understanding of the demands involved. Her preparation included swimming, cycling, running and strength training, which she continued alongside her professional commitments. Speaking about participating in the race for the third time, Saiyami Kher said, The first Ironman was about discovering whether I could actually do it, and the second one was about understanding what it really takes. This time, I felt much more experienced and aware of my body, my training and the demands of the race. I knew it was going to be challenging, but I also knew how much preparation went into it. Every Ironman taught me something different, and I was looking forward to taking everything I had learnt into Cervia. It felt special to be doing this for the third time, and I was excited to see how far I could push myself this time. Saiyami later took to social media to share details of her experience. She spoke about the challenges she faced before and during the race, including travel-related difficulties, high temperatures and the conditions on race day. She wrote, 3 x Ironman 70.3. Hattrick done. Probably the toughest one yet. Two rough months leading up to the race. Then theres never any shortage of drama when it comes to me and races. @klm refused us from boarding because of an error from their end, our bike bags hadnt been updated in their system. Hours of calls, uncertainty and stress, just days before the race. We finally made it to Italy, only to be welcomed by 30C heat. A brutally hot race day, an ocean full of jellyfish, and a body that had already been through a lot. But somewhere between the chaos, the heat and the jellyfish, ! found a little more fight. 20 minutes faster than my previous 70.3. Thats what I love about this sport. You cant control everything that happens around you. You can only control how you respond. Three 70.3s. Three very different stories. And a whole lot of lessons in between. Digital Desk | New Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan on Thursday proposed a strategy of Mutually Assured Disruption to help India reduce its vulnerability to technology denial and disruptions in global supply chains, while maintaining access to cutting-edge technologies from around the world. Speaking at an event organised by the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) in the national capital, Krishnan said India must build sufficient domestic capabilities in critical technologies so that it can continue operating even if access to foreign technologies or supplies is restricted. At the same time, he stressed that the country should remain open to global technology and innovation. Krishnan said it would be unrealistic for India to manufacture every component across the entire technology value chain domestically. Instead, the country should focus on developing substantial capabilities in strategically important segments of global supply chains, making itself an indispensable participant in key technology ecosystems. According to him, India needs to establish a significant presence in critical parts of global value chains rather than attempting complete self-sufficiency. Such a strategy would ensure that the country retains influence within supply chains and strengthens its ability to withstand external disruptions. From a strategic perspective, I think having a presence in the semiconductor space is very important. We are already, and we will keep growing as a consumer of these devices. Our per capita incomes are reaching that point of inflection where consumption will rise faster. So, electronics may be an important item of consumption, and this essentially means we need to make enough of these inputs, Krishnan stated. A significant shift has taken place since the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside other global developments, with businesses and governments increasingly recognising the risks of excessive dependence on a single market, country, or source of supply. Rather than concentrating manufacturing solely in the most cost-competitive location, there is now greater emphasis on diversification as a means of building resilience, he added.

Digital Desk | New Delhi/Manesar, Sep 24 (IANS) Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Thursday announced the commissioning of a 300 kW green hydrogen electrolyzer plant at its Manesar manufacturing facility in Haryana, marking a significant step in the company's efforts to adopt cleaner energy solutions and reduce carbon emissions from its production operations. The pilot project will produce green hydrogen using renewable energy and blend it with natural gas for use as process fuel in manufacturing activities. The automaker said the facility will also help maximize the utilization of solar power generated at the Manesar plant, particularly during holidays when electricity generation would otherwise remain underutilised. According to the company, excess solar energy generated at the facility will be used to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis. The hydrogen will then be stored and supplied for manufacturing operations when required. Maruti Suzuki said the project will serve as a learning platform for wider deployment of green hydrogen technology across its manufacturing facilities in Haryana and Gujarat. The initiative is aligned with the Government of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and forms part of the company's broader strategy to diversify renewable energy sources used in its operations. Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the company has adopted a multi-pathway approach not only for its products but also for its manufacturing operations. He noted that the green hydrogen project, alongside investments in solar energy, biogas and battery energy storage systems, reflects the company's commitment to transitioning towards cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. Takeuchi said India is increasingly emerging as a global manufacturing hub, where competitiveness will be determined not only by cost and quality but also by carbon intensity. He added that Maruti Suzuki is building capabilities today to support a low-carbon and energy-efficient manufacturing ecosystem in the future. The company aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions from its manufacturing operations, targeting a decline from the current 615,000 tonnes to 266,000 tonnes by FY31 through the adoption of multiple clean energy technologies.
