Badshah debuts in Marathi hip hop, unleashes celebratory anthem Chimna
Hitmaker Badshah has officially expanded his sonic empire with the release of his first-ever Marathi hip-hop record, Chimna. The track delivers a high-octane celebration of culture and community, engineered to bridge cross-generational demographics by seamlessly reimagining traditional Marathi folk textures into a fresh, contemporary global soundscape. The rapper-entrepreneur grounded the rollout in raw, regional realism. The accompanying music video was filmed entirely on location in the heart of Maharashtra- Kolhapur, capturing the vivid pulse of local everyday lifefrom bustling wedding processions to street-level daily wage earners and the gritty spectacle of mud wrestlers training in a traditional akhada. Elevating the video's star power, Marathi actress Neha Khan makes a high-energy feature appearance. To guarantee absolute cultural authenticity for his grand regional debut, Badshah assembled a powerhouse cross-genre coalition. The track enlists Bollywood playback mainstay Divya Kumar alongside renowned Marathi folk icon Nagesh Morwekar. Backed by a dynamic musical ensemble and steered by hit-making producer Hiten, the collaborative effort masterfully fuses raw, indigenous folk elements with Badshahs signature, stadium-ready commercial energy. Musically, the song cleverly intertwines traditional folk poetry with explosive hip-hop bars. The track opens with the classic rural hookline, Ek chimna chiv chivla / majha sajan jaga zhala ho / surya ugavla (A sparrow chirped, my beloved woke up, the sun has risen). Badshah then seamlessly blends it into explosive hip-hop bars packed with localized flavour, dropping verses like dance kar rahi dekho maushi maushi /nacho jab tak subah chidiya bole. Proudly claiming his new regional identity and making his stamp on the space official, Badshah brings the track to a climax by signing off with a direct nod to his local fans: Tumcha mulga Badshah (Your boy Badshah). Badshah states, India's regional music is a goldmine and I want to celebrate every corner of it. 'Chimna' is my love letter to Maharashtras rich creative canvas. I am incredibly grateful for how this project turned out, and this ones dedicated to all my day one Maharashtrian fans! Moving seamlessly from the terrain of Himachal and Haryana straight into the heartbeat of Western India now, Badshahs latest rollout doubles down on a unifying, cross-market thesis: different roots, one culture. Crafted as the ultimate celebratory anthem, Chimna is an infectious release built around the spirit of community and celebration. The accompanying larger-than-life music video elevates the track further, serving as a colourful pop visual spectacle that presents a vibrant Maharashtrian authentic way of life in a sleek contemporary fashion. Chimna is now available on all major streaming platforms. Also Read: Badshah celebrates Hustle Season 5s record Rs 1 crore winner prize: Its a reflection of how far the culture has come
The much-awaited emotional drama Om Ka Hari, starring Anshuman Jha and Raghubir Yadav in the titular roles, is set to release theatrically on September 18, 2026. Directed by Harish Vyas, the film also stars Soni Razdan, Samta Sudiksha and Ayesha Kapur in key roles and brings to the screen one of the oldest rivalries known to mankind, father vs son. At its heart, Om Ka Hari is a story about a relationship where love is often the hardest thing to say out loud. This is First Ray Film's 5th production and it tells the narrative about a stubborn father (Hari Prasad Sharma) in Bhopal and his independent minded son (Om Prasad Sharma) - their conflicts which begins in Bhopal and culminate in Varanasi. The father-son dynamic is as old as family itself: the son who wants to break free, the father who believes he knows what is best - generational divide. And about irrespective of which one of them wins, the rest of the family loses. Om Ka Hari finds its emotional core in that timeless tug-of-war, the oldest rivalry of them all, father vs son, and asks a simple but deeply difficult question: What if we could finally tell our fathers that we love them? And what if they could tell us too? For Harish Vyas, the film also brings a larger cinematic journey to its emotional conclusion. Om Ka Hari completes his trilogy of films exploring love and the importance of expressing it. His debut feature, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain with Sanjay Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi, Ekavali Khanna and Anshuman Jha, explored the importance of saying I love you to your partner, even after decades of marriage, reminding us that love cannot simply be assumed; it needs to be expressed. Speaking about the film and completing this trilogy, director Harish Vyas says, I think all three of my films have been about love, but about different kinds of love and, more importantly, about the things we struggle to say. Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain was about reminding a husband and wife that after 30 years of marriage, you still need to say I love you. Hum Bhi Akele-Tum Bhi Akele was about discovering love in friendship. And Om Ka Hari is perhaps the most personal and universal of the three about a father and son who love each other deeply but have forgotten how to say it. There is no rivalry older than father vs son. And I have two of the finest actors from their respective generations take on the title roles. We fight, we challenge each other, we carry expectations and hurt, but underneath all of that is love. Sometimes, all it takes is saying it. The film marks the third collaboration between Harish Vyas and Anshuman Jha, following their previous films, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain and Hum Bhi Akele-Tum Bhi Akele. This further strengthens their actor-director partnership. With Jha and Raghubir Yadav at its centre, Om Ka Hari brings together two generations of performers for a story that moves seamlessly between conflict, humour, tenderness and reconciliation. Adding to the films emotional and nostalgic appeal is its music soundtrack, which features songs by the legendary late Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Paresh Pahuja and other celebrated voices. The music forms an integral part of the films world, complementing its themes of memory, relationships and the passage of time. The film has also had an encouraging festival journey, with its World Premiere at Stuttgart in 2025, followed by its Australian Premiere at IFFM Melbourne, North American Premiere at CSAFF, and its Indian Premiere at the Closing Gala at Red Lorry Film Festival. Produced by First Ray Films, Om Ka Hari releases theatrically on September 18, 2026. Excel Entertainments Mirzapur The Movie is one of the most keenly-awaited films of the year. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, it stars Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Pankaj Tripathi, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, among others. The film is special since it is based on the web series Mirzapur, which is a big hit on OTT. It has had three successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video. The film is expected to take a strong opening. It is widely believed that Mirzapur The Movie is the first film in India to be based on a web series that will have a release in theatres. However, that is not quite the case. The Bengali web show Eken Babu, which streams on HoiChoi, has so far had nine seasons from 2018 to 2026. In between, the makers also came up with three theatrical films based on the series named, The Eken (2022), The Eken: Ruddhaswas Rajasthan (2023) and The Eken: Benaras E Bidhishika (2025). The fourth film The Eken: Keralay Kurukkhetro is scheduled to release this year. This isnt the only Indian web series to have been made into a theatrical film. In 2018, the Punjabi web series Yaar Jigree Kasooti Degree became one of the most loved shows in the language after it streamed on YouTube. Following the success and popularity of its two seasons, the makers of the show announced a theatrical film on the show also titled Yaar Jigree Kasooti Degree in 2025. Interestingly, the film released in theatres just earlier this month on August 7. Therefore, web shows like Eken Babu and Yaar Jigree Kasooti Degree had theatrical films based on them much before Mirzapur The Movie, which is slated to release on September 4. Television fiction is a daily companion, bringing into homes aspirational characters whose dreams, dilemmas and journeys often feel deeply personal. It is this unique relationship between audiences and storytelling that brings ZEE and Google together to introduce fiction-led AI Search integration, bringing Google Searchs AI Mode into the storytelling worlds of Zee TV's popular fiction show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan among others. Launching on Independence Day, the collaboration moves beyond conventional product placement, weaving Google Searchs AI Mode organically into the journeys of key characters and making it a natural part of the storytelling experience. Across relatable moments and everyday dilemmas, audiences will experience how Google Search AI Mode can process complex queries and help people easily discover the information they need to make confident decisions. The collaboration leverages ZEE's Dilfluencer Moments, a bespoke solution that weaves brand ethos into real and authentic storytelling that travels across screens and formats, leading to community engagement. Built on the belief that audiences connect most deeply with stories, characters and moments they trust, Dilfluencer Moments lets brands become a meaningful part of the narrative itself, originating within Zee TV's trusted fiction ecosystem and extending across multiple touchpoints. In this collaboration, Google Searchs AI Mode becomes a natural part of those moments, assisting characters as they navigate challenges, explore possibilities and make informed choices in ways that feel authentic to the story. As part of the collaboration, ZEE and Google have also launched a brand film featuring Amandeep Sidhu who plays the role of Sneha from Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan. Set in a candid behind-the-scenes moment, the film begins with an ordinary conversation between Amandeep and her makeup artist, Aarti played by Rajsi Bhave. When Aarti reveals that she is leaving to pursue her long-held dream of opening her own beauty salon, Amandeep is both surprised and curious. As the conversation unfolds, Aarti shares how she navigated the many questions, uncertainties and decisions involved in starting a business, with a helpful guide by her side: Google Searchs AI Mode. Through a warm, relatable and aspirational exchange, the film demonstrates how AI Mode can understand context, simplify complex situations and help individuals with the information they need. Built around the campaign thought, Google Search ka Naya AI Mode, Samjhe, Samjhaye aur Raah Dikhaye, the initiative showcases how Google Searchs AI Mode adds a more conversational layer to the trusted Search experience. While the brand film introduces audiences to the proposition, the storytelling continues across upcoming episodes of Tumm Se Tumm Takk and Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, where viewers will see AI Mode play a meaningful role at key moments in the characters' journeys, helping them with their everyday questions and situations, explore possibilities and make informed decisions with greater clarity and confidence. Through the upcoming story arcs, audiences will witness how Google Search's new AI Mode provides intuitive, contextual assistance, becoming a reliable tool in the characters' journeys as they navigate aspirations, dilemmas and everyday decisions. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Zee TV (@zeetv) The film culminates with Amandeep breaking the fourth wall and inviting viewers to experience Google Searchs AI Mode for themselves. The film also serves as a gateway to the larger story fiction integration, where audiences will continue to see Google Search AI Mode woven not only into upcoming storylines but also the further narrative across Zee TV's fiction shows. Reflecting on the collaboration, Kanika Kalra, Director, Platforms & Ecosystems, Consumer Marketing, India, said: With the introduction of AI Mode, we are redefining what Search can do for the Indian consumer. This is a fundamental shift toward advanced thinking, reasoning, and personalisation built directly into Search. With Zee as our partner, this is our attempt to bring Google Search's AI intelligence to the world of Drama. Speaking about the partnership, Sandeep Mehrotra, Chief Operating Officer, Advertisement Revenue, ZEEL, said: Advertisers today are looking for more than visibility; they are looking for meaningful ways to connect with consumers in environments they trust. This collaboration with Google Search AI Mode demonstrates how entertainment can create that connection by integrating brands naturally into stories that audiences are already emotionally invested in. Through Dilfluencer Moments, we have been building new storytelling-led solutions for marketers, and this partnership showcases how even a technology product can be woven seamlessly into a narrative to drive both relevance and engagement at scale. Speaking about the announcement film, Kartik Mahadev, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, said: The most powerful integrations are those that become part of the story world, moving naturally with its characters. That was our ambition with Google Search in AI Mode, and this first film sets the tone for whats to come. Launching around Independence Day with our Dilfluencer, Sneha from Zee TV, the story gives the idea of independence a contemporary, everyday meaning, one that can remain relevant well beyond the occasion. At ZEE, our characters and storytelling have the ability to build empathy at scale. Dilfluencer Moments harnesses that influence to go a step further in helping audiences discover new possibilities, build confidence in new behaviours, and turn cultural moments into meaningful adoption. Rohit Saraf takes on three distinct roles with The Revolutionaries, Mismatched Season 4 and Mahakali
Rohit Saraf is set for a diverse line-up of projects this year, with the actor moving across genres and characters in The Revolutionaries, Mismatched Season 4 and the upcoming Telugu film Mahakali. The projects see Saraf take on roles that are markedly different in tone, allowing him to explore both intense and romantic spaces on screen. The actor will next be seen in The Revolutionaries, directed by Nikkhil Advani. Saraf plays Sachindranath Sanyal in the period series, which is set against the backdrop of Indias revolutionary movement in the 1920s. The role reportedly required the actor to undergo a physical transformation and perform high-energy action sequences as part of the character. The Revolutionaries is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 11. Following the period drama, Saraf will return to the romantic space with Mismatched Season 4. The upcoming season marks the conclusion of the story of Rishi and Dimple, played by Saraf and Prajakta Koli respectively. Since its debut, the series has developed a sizeable audience, with the fourth season expected to bring the central love story to its conclusion. Saraf is also expanding his work into Telugu cinema with Mahakali. Directed by Puja Kolluru, the film features Saraf alongside Akshaye Khanna and marks his Telugu debut. While details about his character and look are currently under wraps, the project is expected to present the actor in another new avatar. The three projects place Rohit Saraf in distinctly different worlds a historical action drama with The Revolutionaries, a coming-of-age romance with Mismatched Season 4 and a Telugu film with Mahakali. With the releases spanning different genres and languages, the actors upcoming slate reflects a conscious move towards varied roles rather than staying within one particular on-screen image. Concerns over fake and synthetic paneer have reportedly made their way into celebrity kitchens, with Twinkle Khanna revealing that she and her mother, actor Dimple Kapadia, have started making the popular dairy product at home. Twinkle opened up about the change in her latest Mrs Funnybones column, published on August 30, while adding her trademark humour to the ongoing food-safety conversation. According to Twinkle, reports surrounding allegedly fake paneer prompted the mother-daughter duo to reconsider their dependence on store-bought paneer. However, making it at home has also revived an old competition between the two over how much paneer they can produce from the same quantity of milk. Since this fake paneer scam hit the headlines, my mother and I have started making paneer at home. Our old argument continues. In her house, one litre of milk yields 250 grams of paneer. I get 180 grams from the same amount of milk. Now, its also about whose paneer is tastier. Next, I suspect she will start asking whose paneer is whiter, and I may start putting detergent in mine, she wrote. Twinkle then linked her joke to another food-safety incident from Bihars Nalanda district, where students reportedly fell ill after detergent was allegedly used instead of salt. The reference allowed her to continue exploring the sometimes unsettling ways in which concerns about food adulteration intersect with everyday life. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Twinkle Khanna (@twinklerkhanna) Her column also touched upon the food-safety inspections being carried out across India. Taking inspiration from the strict approach associated with Maharashtra FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, Twinkle imagined conducting her own tongue-in-cheek inspection at home. During her fictional Mundhe-inspired raid, she joked about finding an expired packet of Shahi Masala that had seemingly been lying around in her kitchen for an unusually long period. Twinkle wrote, Those who want to erase the Mughals from our history books should first start with lunch. Give up your koftas, kormas, kebabs... You cant have your Mughlai paneer, real or analogue, and eat it too. Through humour and personal anecdotes, Twinkle highlighted how wider food-safety concerns can quickly become part of ordinary household conversations. Her column blends the national debate over food adulteration with the familiar realities of cooking, family disagreements and kitchen habits. Shweta Tripathi and Chaitnya Sharma head to Vienna for Chet Faker concert during European getaway
Shweta Tripathi recently took a break from her professional commitments and travelled across Europe with her husband, rapper Chaitnya Sharma, and a group of close friends. The getaway included a stop in Vienna, where the couple attended Australian singer-songwriter Chet Fakers live concert at Arena Wien as part of his A Love for Strangers tour. The Vienna concert became one of the highlights of the trip for Shweta, with the journey being planned around Chaitnyas fondness for Chet Fakers music. The actor revealed that the group had been looking for an opportunity to travel together after being unable to do so for some time due to their respective schedules. This trip was actually planned because Cheeta is a huge fan of Chet Faker. I started listening to his music because of him and our friends. The moment we found out Chet Faker was performing in Vienna, one of our friends booked six tickets, and we immediately began planning the trip. We hadn't travelled together in a long time because of our busy schedules, so it became the perfect excuse for all of us to get away, Shweta said. For Shweta, music has remained an important part of her life, and she credited Chaitnya with introducing her to several artists and sounds. She also spoke about the role music plays alongside books and other creative influences. She went on to add, Music has always been one of my greatest sources of joy. Books transport me into different worlds, and music does the same in an entirely different way. It sparks emotions that are difficult to put into words and allows you to be completely present in the moment. Cheeta has played a huge role in shaping my relationship with music. Because he's a musician himself, he's constantly introducing me to artists, albums and sounds that I may never have discovered on my own. I love how passionate he is about music, and that passion naturally rubs off on me. The couples European holiday extended beyond Vienna. They travelled to Lake Fuschl in Austria before heading to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berlin. The itinerary also included experiences centred around cinema and art. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Shweta Tripathi (@battatawada) Berlin, in particular, holds a special place for Shweta, who had previously visited the city for the Berlinale. During this visit, she also spent time with a close friend and attended an open-air Queer Film Festival screening featuring six short films. Berlin is one of my favourite cities. I had been there earlier for Berlinale, and every time I return, it feels just as exciting. Berlin always makes me want to create. Every street, every gallery and every conversation feels like it invites curiosity. One of my closest friends also lives there, so it was wonderful to spend time together. We also watched six short films at an open-air Queer Film Festival screening, and experiences like these stay with you long after the trip is over, she shared. The Masaan actor also reflected on how travelling and experiencing different cultures influence her as an artist. According to Shweta, such journeys offer opportunities to learn and return with fresh creative inspiration. Travelling reminds you how much there is still to see, learn and feel. As an artist, that's incredibly enriching. My father always told me to spend money on experiences because they shape the person you become, and every time I travel I understand that a little more. Concerts end, holidays end, but the memories, friendships and inspiration stay with you. I always return from trips like these wanting to create something new. That's the biggest gift travel gives me, she concluded. The European getaway thus brought together Shweta Tripathi and Chaitnya Sharmas shared interest in music, travel and the arts, while also giving the couple an opportunity to spend time with their friends away from their professional schedules. Priyadarshans upcoming thriller Haiwaan is among the films generating considerable anticipation ahead of its September 11 release. The dark thriller features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher. While the trailer has already sparked interest, Boman Irani says that the perception of comedy continues to follow both him and Priyadarshan, despite the filmmaker having explored multiple genres throughout his career. The comedy stamp always chases me, Boman said during an exclusive interview with SCREEN. Boman was discussing Priyadarshans diverse body of work, which has included action, romance and drama alongside comedy. Although the filmmaker has ventured into different genres, his comic films remain among the works he is most closely associated with. The actor also opened up about his reunion with Priyadarshan after a gap of 12 years. Boman and the filmmaker had previously collaborated on the 2012 film Tezz, which also starred Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut. When asked why the duo took so long to work together again despite being described as a deadly combination of talent, Boman pointed to the filmmakers established group of collaborators. I think he had his own group of people whom he was comfortable with. Its like asking Raju Hirani, Why didnt you work with so-and-so actor? It becomes a family kind of situation, and I think thats great. But somehow, I was made to believe that I was the first choice for this role, Boman said. Haiwaan also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on the big screen after more than three decades. The actors last appeared together in Main Khiladi Tu Anari in 1994. With Akshay portraying a dark character in the upcoming film, Boman was asked whether audiences would accept him in a different kind of role. You watch 3 Idiots. Imagine 3 Idiots was not a good movie. Think about it. What would the acceptance of a character like Virus be? They would say, Irritating. But when the movie is good, everything gets accepted. You say, Oh well, that was very interesting. It was pretty good advice. Think of Munna Bhai MBBS. Sanjay Dutt was 44 years old, hardly a college-going student. Why did they accept it? The movie was good. The story was good, said the 66-year-old actor. Boman believes the same applies to Akshay and Saifs return as co-stars. He said audiences are likely to accept them if their performances and the overall film work. But if the movie was bad, then people would have questioned, How could they have cast Sanju? But the movie was great. So, there was no question of age. Having said that, they (Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan) will be accepted because they are good in the film. But the movie has to be good, and the movie is good, he concluded. Haiwaan is the official remake of Priyadarshans 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, which starred Mohanlal. Subhash Ghai has opened up about his past fallout with Salman Khan and revealed how the actors father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, intervened after the two had a scuffle. Ghai recalled the incident while discussing his collaboration with Salman in the 2008 film Yuvvraaj. According to Ghai, his professional association with Salman came after an unpleasant incident at a party. The filmmaker said that Salman was under the influence of alcohol during the gathering when an argument broke out between them. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, but the matter was eventually resolved after Salim Khan stepped in. Before the film, we had a fight. Hatha paai hui (we had a scuffle). Then his father scolded him, Ghai recalled in a recent interview with Times Now. Explaining the circumstances, Ghai said, We were at a party. Salman was high. He was saying something wrong when I told him, Dont say that. He had some issue with me. He asked me, Why did you do this or that? I said it is my decision as a director. He started abusing [me], I asked him not to do that. We had a spat there. Ghai revealed that Salim Khan contacted him the following morning and told him that he had reprimanded his son. He then sent Salman to the filmmakers home to apologise. The very next morning, Salim saheb called me and told me that Salman told all of these things to his mother. He said, I have scolded him. He sent Salman to my house to apologise to me. And he came. He politely apologised, after which I fell in love with him because he respected his father so much. I let go of that issue. We often visited each other. After that, we did a film together, Ghai recalled. Their reconciliation eventually led to Yuvvraaj, which also starred Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. However, the 2008 film did not perform strongly at the box office. Ghai has also spoken positively about Salmans personality in the past, saying, Salman Khan never gets nervous no matter what. No matter the number of crises and problems in his life, he might become sad, but never nervous. The filmmaker further recalled Salmans decision to stay away from media interviews during Yuvvraaj promotions. Salman had explained, If you are saying, I will do it, but I usually dont because media interviews expect us to be politically correct. And if I end up uttering something incorrect about the film, people or myself, it will become a huge controversy. I am happy alone and I like to stay away from the media.
