Shahid Kapoor is set to return to the IIFA stage with a performance at the 27th edition of the IIFA Weekend & Awards, scheduled to take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, on January 22 and 23, 2027. The actor is among the performers announced for the upcoming edition, which will bring together several names from Indian cinema for a two-day celebration. Vedika Pinto is getting noticed for her turn as Sudha in Netflix's Musafir Cafe, and the actor has now opened up about how the role came to her at a time when her attention was elsewhere. She was busy promoting Nishaanchi, directed by Anurag Kashyap, when she got a call to audition for what she was told was a love story. That love story turned out to be Musafir Cafe. Recalling the sequence of events, Vedika said, Musafir Cafe happened very fast for me. I was in the middle of promoting Nishaanchi (directed by Anurag Kashyap) when I got a call to audition for a love story, which turned out to be Musafir Cafe. I went for a couple of rounds, but I didn't do well initially because my mind was too preoccupied with Nishaanchi. But the casting director, Karan Mally, felt I was perfect for the role of Sudha and he pushed the makers to give me another chance. I was going through that phase when I got a call saying I had landed Musafir Cafe, and I honestly believe it was divine intervention because up until then, I was questioning myself and having existential moments about my place in the industry and whether I was doing the right thing or deluding myself. His settled life is shaken when Sudha, his past love, resurfaces, forcing him to confront unresolved feelings, missed chances and life-altering choices. The climax of Drishyam The Conclusion has been one of the key talking points around the upcoming film, with the makers positioning it as the final chapter of the Drishyam franchise. As Vijay Salgaonkar aka Ajay Devgn returns for what is expected to be the concluding chapter of his story, director Abhishek Pathak has opened up about the process of developing and protecting the films climax from fan speculation. In an interview, Pathak revealed that he went through several theories shared online by fans while working on the conclusion. He explained that the team was conscious of avoiding ideas that had already been widely discussed. I actually went through a lot of fan theories on Reddit and the Internet. We were like, Four people are talking about this, five people are talking about that... so it cannot happen. We were trying to stay away from the obvious, and come with something that people weren't expecting at all. The director also discussed how the team approached the final stages of the shoot and edit to retain certain information. According to Pathak, even after the film had reached the editing stage, some portions were still pending to be filmed. He explained that the team used voice-overs and additional editing during this process to control how certain details were presented to audiences. We shot the film, came on the edit, and there was maybe a 10-day shoot pending. In the pending shoot, we actually recorded voice-overs and put everything on the edit to make it better... to hide information and reveal certain things in a way that people enjoy it much better, he shared. Pathak further hinted at the importance of the climax without revealing details about what audiences can expect. He added, The climax is the real (star of the) show, If the big reveal can be held for as long as possible, that's the best thing. Drishyam The Conclusion brings back the franchises central character, Vijay Salgaonkar, while introducing new developments in his ongoing battle with the authorities. The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony was held last week, on September 22, and among the proud attendees was Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani. Her production house, Chalk N Cheese Films, produced Srikanth (2024) with T-Series, and the Rajkummar Rao-starrer went on to win the Best Hindi Feature Film award. Understandably, Nidhi is on cloud nine. Chalk N Cheese Films has carved a distinct niche for itself. All three of its films so far Saand Ki Aankh (2019), Srikanth and the Marathi film Ata Thambaycha Naay (2025) have been inspired by remarkable real-life stories and presented in a mainstream, entertaining manner. Saand Ki Aankh and Srikanth, incidentally, were directed by Tushar Hiranandani, who is also Nidhi Parmar Hiranandanis husband. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, conducted just before her birthday, the enterprising producer opened up about Srikanths National Award win, her journey into films, her working equation with Tushar, her fascination with Karan Johar and a lot more. Where were you when you learned that Srikanth won the National Award? We were in Goa at my cousins place to celebrate Tushars birthday. I was sitting by the pool with a friend while he was sleeping inside. Suddenly, he came running out and said, Nidhi, we won the National Award. I thought he was dreaming! I told him, You must have dreamt about it. Go back to sleep. He replied, No, really, I just got a call from someone. We were staying in a remote area and neither of us had network on our phones. However, my friend did. She switched on the live stream of the announcement and thats when we saw that Srikanth had indeed won the National Award. It took us a minute to believe it. Soon, we were flooded with congratulatory calls. With Srikanth, an important point has been proven, or rather, disproven, that you need to lobby to win an award. We didnt do anything of that sort. The National Award jury did its job. They saw the film, liked it and awarded us. Even now, people ask us, How did you guys win? or Did you know so-and-so? When we went for the ceremony, we got a chance to meet people from different film industries across the country. Several of them told us that Srikanth deserved the National Award. Two encounters particularly stood out. Aanand L Rais wife told Tushar that the film really deserved to win. Shashwat Sachdevs father hugged Tushar and said that Srikanth was one of his favourite films. That felt really nice. How did the real Srikanth Bolla react to the National Award honour? He has been expecting this award from the very beginning (laughs). Ever since the day we narrated the final script to him, he kept saying, Our film will win the National Award. During the promotions, we literally had to tell him, Please dont say such things! He also dreamt of an Oscar. And he wasnt too far off, because Srikanth was among the films considered to be Indias official entry to the Oscars. It even made it to the top five! So, when we won the National Award, he was his usual nonchalant self. He simply said, I told you we would win! Often, films enjoy strong word of mouth but still struggle to find an audience because of the sheer number of releases. Srikanth, however, arrived at a time when there was hardly any major competition for almost three weeks. Do you think that worked in the films favour? The film had been ready for a while and we were looking for the right release window. The date shifted two or three times. Rajkummar Raos Mr & Mrs Mahi (2024) was also being planned for release around the same time, but it eventually arrived three weeks after our film. May 10, 2024, looked like a great date to us. We met Bhushan Kumar ji and requested him to release the film on May 10 because we felt it was an ideal window. He agreed, and thats how we announced the date. And yes, it turned out to be a dream release for us. What changes for you from here on? I feel we must have done something right to win the National Award, and wed like to continue on that path. At the same time, as makers, we want to evolve. We do want to explore more commercial cinema, but content will always come first for us. Even if we make something more commercial, it still has to have a strong story at its core. After Srikanth, we made Ata Thambaycha Naay, which was a small Marathi film. Its been a year since that film and two years since Srikanth, but its not as if we havent received offers or come across subjects to make. We did try going down the route of putting together a more commercial package, but we realised thats not really how we function. We need to connect with the script. So, even when we do make a commercial film, it will have to be something that genuinely speaks to us. How challenging was it to make Srikanth within a certain budget? I feel I was a very lucky producer because Tushar was the director. I would give him 100 out of 100. Hes a dream director for any producer because hes extremely mindful of the budget. Hes also a master at making a film mounted on a modest budget look beautiful. His DOP is very important to him, so he takes his time finalising the cinematographer. Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti shot Saand Ki Aankh, while Srikanth was shot by Pratham Mehta. Pratham gave it his absolute best as well, and full marks to him. I dont understand the technical aspects too much. My only brief to Pratham was, Every shot should look like this is a Rs. 50 crore film, even though our COP was Rs. 20 crores! He and all our HODs worked within the budget and still delivered their A-game. Why is your production house called Chalk N Cheese Films? (Smiles) Thats because Tushar and I are like chalk and cheese! We are complete opposites as personalities, right from the kind of food we like and the way we dress to the places we like to visit. So, whenever we make a movie, both of us have to like it, which is actually very difficult! We have to meet somewhere in the middle and find common ground. Even our approach to filmmaking and shooting is very different. How did you get into this profession? I am from Chandigarh and I came to Mumbai to become a director. I was studying to become a CA, although I hated every bit of it. I hated accounts! I was a scholarship student and had topped Economics, which is why I was studying Commerce. Then, I went to watch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) with my mother and I went mad over the person who had made the movie (Karan Johar)! I didnt go crazy over Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol or Rani Mukerji. Instead, I kept wondering, Who is this person who has created this world? Thats when I started trying to understand what a director actually does. In the process, I became obsessed with KJo. He opened my mind to a medium that I had never taken seriously before. It completely changed my world, and that was the day I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in cinema. I left everything and came to Mumbai. I did a course at XIC (Xavier Institute of Communications) and started working. Later, I even got the opportunity to work at Karans company, Dharma Productions! So, in a way, he is the reason I came to Mumbai from Chandigarh. Are you still in touch with him? Of course. Karan will always have the warmest place in my heart (smiles). Kapil was the far superior boxer in the bout, winning all five judges' votes, with four giving him a 30-27 ruling and one a 30-26 card. Kapil's dominance secured India's sixth boxing medal at the ongoing game. The Indian pugilist clinched the first round 5-0 with his fierce punches landing on target. Kapil kept bossing the second round too with his hits and also inflicted a standing count against Kim to take it 5-0. Kapil made some clever and occasional hits in the third round, knowing that he had done enough in the previous two rounds to win the bout and move into the semis. The women's team, seeded third and bronze medallists at the previous Asian Games, had to dig deep after world No. 6 Satomi Watanabe defeated India's Anahat Singh in a five-game battle. The experienced Joshna Chinappa, who is making his seventh appearance at the Asian Games, put India in the lead by defeating Erisa Sano 11-1, 11-8, 11-9. Anahat then played against Watanabe, someone she had beaten in the individual semifinals earlier in the competition, and subsequently won a historic silver medal. This time Watanabe turned the situation around, coming back from a 12 disadvantage to win against Anahat 118, 811, 711, 118 and 119 in a match that lasted 43 minutes and thus level the series. Digital Desk | New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a pan-India gold smuggling syndicate that allegedly used courier networks to transport smuggled gold across the country, seizing 6.61 kg of foreign-origin gold worth about Rs 10.36 crore and arresting 11 persons, including one of the alleged masterminds, according to an official statement on Monday. The operation which was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs, targeted a network involved in smuggling gold through the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal and Assam before distributing it to major markets through courier consignments, according to the Finance Ministry. The ministry further noted that coordinated searches and interceptions were conducted simultaneously in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Guwahati. During the operation, DRI officials intercepted live courier consignments containing smuggled gold that had been booked from Guwahati and Kolkata for delivery in Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad. Seven recipients were apprehended, while searches at the premises of consignors in Kolkata led to the arrest of three more persons. Moreover, a subsequent operation in Mumbai resulted in the arrest of one of the key coordinators of the network. Investigators found that the syndicate had adopted a strategy of splitting smuggled gold into multiple small consignments and dispatching them through courier channels to recipients in different cities for disposal in the domestic market. The investigation also showed that both the shippers and the recipients were acting as paper companies or private individuals without engaging in any legal gold trading, suggesting a conscious effort to hide the source and flow of gold that was smuggled through courier services. DRI recovered and seized a total of 6.61 kg of foreign-origin gold bars valued at around Rs 10.36 crore under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. In a significant development, preliminary examination of documentary evidence suggested that the syndicate had transported and delivered nearly 318 kg of smuggled gold worth around Rs 475 crore through the same courier-based network during the first nine months of the current calendar year, the ministry said. Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and trace the proceeds and distribution channels linked to the smuggled gold, it added.

It features Geeta Agrawal Sharma, known for Laapataa Ladies (2024) and 12th Fail (2023), as a mother displaying the early signs of dementia, while Priyanshu Painyuli plays her son and primary caregiver. The seven-minute film is touching and, more importantly, conveys its message in an innovative and impactful manner. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Geeta Agrawal Sharma and Vajood Rahe Maujoods Creative Chief, Writer and Director, Keigan Pinto, also a veteran advertising and creative professional, spoke about the film, its important message and a lot more. How has been the response to Vajood Rahe Maujood? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: Its been very positive. The film tackles a sensitive subject. The interesting thing about short films like these, which last just five to six minutes, is that one can watch them instantly. Many people even watch them on repeat. Hence, they reach a lot of people very quickly. With feature films, many feel, Time nikal ke dekhenge. We dont have that disadvantage here. Moreover, the subject of a short film also manages to reach people faster. The subject was great and it was written beautifully. Im glad its getting its due! The idea is fascinating a son reciting a poem to her mother about her condition. How did you lock the concept? Keigan Pinto: Loss of identity, or vajood, is a scientific reality in dementia. For campaigns like these, the ideas usually come through a strategy team. I am, of course, on the creative side; hum log science ko art mein badalte hain. The scientific insights tell us what we need to write and create. One of the key insights we received was that dementia is vajood aur pehchaan ka mudda hain. We have all heard about Alzheimers and how it involves a particular kind of memory loss. Dementia can affect your abilities and your sense of identity as well. You are unable to hold on to your own self-image. So, I was asked to explore this idea of identity. As for the characters in the film, show me one mummy in the world who is not stubborn! Duniya ki saari mummyiyan adiyal hain (laughs). I was also inspired by my own mother. By Gods grace, her vajood is intact. In the film, the son chooses his mothers birthday to recite the poem to her. What he is saying is actually quite serious and terrifying. He knows that her symptoms have begun; he is scared for her, but at the same time, he loves her dearly. We also deliberately chose to make the caregiver a man. Usually, when we think of a caregiver at home, we imagine the beti or the bahu. Men often find it more difficult to express their emotions, and that was something we wanted to explore. Even in our film, he is struggling emotionally. He is shedding tears, but he continues reciting the poem. That dichotomy helped us create a stronger impact. Theres a lovely as well as a heartbreaking scene in the film, where your character forgets the word mic while narrating a story. Your performance is spot-on, as always. How did you prep for the part? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: I am seeing it around me. Kuch logon ko main khote hue dekh rahi hoon. Also, I myself forget things (laughs). I have crossed 50 and I misplace a lot of stuff. At times, I also forget certain words or names. As a result, it becomes embarrassing for me. You meet somebody and you cant tell that person that you dont remember who he or she is. So, you have to greet them warmly! This is one of the reasons why I hesitate to go to parties, kyunki mujhe log yaad nahin hain. Hence, I prefer to avoid them. If I have no option but to attend, I usually take someone along with me taaki woh mujhe bata de ki, Yeh hai kaun? (laughs). So, I do experience these things myself, even though I dont have dementia. But for those who have the condition, its embarrassing and even heartbreaking for them. It stops you. You want to be around people, but you cant because one of your abilities is gradually failing. Failing to remember words is one thing. Slowly, you deteriorate even more. How was it working with Tata Trusts? Keigan Pinto: Tata Trusts is the oldest formal philanthropic organisation in India. They are also among the very best when it comes to creating awareness around philanthropic causes. They undertake a wide range of projects and initiatives, whether in health or in other areas of philanthropy, and their approach is extremely scientific. Geeta ji, youve been a part of so many memorable and successful projects in the last few years like 12th Fail, Laapataa Ladies, OMG 2 (2023), Fighter (2024), Saiyara (2025), Ohh My Dog (2026), Satluj (2026), etc. Has life changed ever since? Do people now recognize you on the streets? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: Yes, it keeps happening. However, people tend to take your name and remember your name when you have a strong PR at play. Otherwise, what happens is that people do recognize me and my films, but they dont know my name. Nevertheless, its good that dheere dheere thodi bahut pehchaan ban toh rahi hain. Keigan Pinto: Id like to add that Geeta ji doesnt need a PR. When I decided to cast her and when I showed the film to people, let me tell you that everyone recognizes you. I didnt know how much content my mother consumes but she knew her. Though Geeta ji is in the world of mass media, I truly believe that quality doesnt need a PR. Even if she has a few hundred people on Instagram, it doesnt matter. Everybody knows Geeta ji. I humbly rank her as the number one female actor. She is the Bachchan saab of female actor today! What next from here on with regards to Vajood Rahe Maujood? Keigan Pinto: From the video perspective, there are still a few assets that havent come out yet. We also have some static communication planned, including posters. These will inform people about how dementia can be prevented and what they can do if they notice signs of the condition in a family member. As for the film, we hope it continues to grow and reach as many homes as possible. If it manages to bring about even some change, that is all we expect from it.

Reflecting on the difficulty of dealing with the loss of someone close, Shweta said that forgiveness can become particularly difficult when something happens to a loved one. She added that she did not want to allow anger or resentment to take over her life. But if it happens to your own somebody whom you love, you just somehow take a lot more courage to forgive. But look, I don't want to be consumed by hatred, by revenge, by resentment. I think the purpose of my life is to stand for love, for faith, for goodness and for God. Shweta further urged people not to lose their faith despite the unfairness and pain they may experience. And I don't want you guys to lose faith on God or in goodness. Please, please don't lose faith in God. There is unfairness in the world. Okay, I accept that. And maybe good people do have to go through a lot of pain. But pain is your way to transformation. Concluding her message, Shweta emphasised healing through love and said, So, let not your heart be consumed with negativity. And healing comes from love. I stand for love. And I hope you can stand with me for love, for God, for goodness. Sushant Singh Rajput died at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. Sandeepa Dhar recently spoke about what attracted her to Chumbak, saying that the way women are portrayed in the series was among the reasons she chose to be part of it. According to the actor, the show takes a different approach to comedy by giving its female characters an active role instead of limiting them to supporting parts. Talking about her decision to choose the show, Sandeepa said, I was interested in the show because women were not shown as stereotypical beings. Usually, in a comedy, the men have all the comic parts while women are just supporting characters. But that is not the case here at all. She pointed to Twinkle, played by Helly Shah, as an example of the series approach to its female characters. Here, we have Twinkle (Helly Shah), who is the forerunner of comedy in the show, Sandeepa shared. The actor also spoke about the effort to move away from conventional gender roles in the narrative. Were not showing women sitting and cooking or serving food to men. In fact, that is something Aatish has done very purposefully. Lyricist Sameer Anjaan recently spoke about his experience of working with composer A.R. Rahman on The Legend of Bhagat Singh during an episode of Komal Nahtas Game Changers: The Music Series. The conversation focused on Sameers career, his approach to songwriting and some of the challenges he encountered while working on memorable film soundtracks. In the latest episode, Sameer Anjaan discussed his work across several decades and recalled his collaboration with A.R. Rahman. Sameer, who holds a Guinness World Record for being one of the most prolific lyricists in Indian cinema, revealed that writing for Rahman came with its own set of challenges. He worked with the composer on only one film, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, which was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and released in 2002. Recalling the experience, Sameer said, I found it difficult to write for AR Rahman. I have only worked with him on one movie, The Legend of Bhagat Singh. If you listen to the songs, you'll understand how difficult they were to write. The movie has become a legendary film, and there were some lines taken from the original words of the 'Shaheeds'. Reimagining and writing them was very difficult for me. It was a fun memory. The lyricist also explained that some portions of the songs were based on the original words associated with the martyrs depicted in the film. Adapting those words into songs while retaining their essence presented a creative challenge for him. His appearance on Game Changers: The Music Series offered a glimpse into the process behind the songs of The Legend of Bhagat Singh and his experience of collaborating with Rahman.
