Ahead of the trailer release on August 31, Meghna has spoken about Kareenas performance, describing it as an entirely unseen facet of the actor. Daayra brings Kareena together with Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The two portray police officers who have contrasting approaches to their profession, justice and the situations they encounter. Their opposing personalities form a key part of the films narrative. Sharing her thoughts on Kareenas role, Meghna wrote in an Instagram note, Daayra unveils an entirely unseen facet of the actor that is Kareena Kapoor. Kareena as Ajooni, is stoic, unreadable. She cracks open situations and people with a smile. Meghna also described how Prithvirajs character Raman complements Ajooni. She wrote, Prithviraj Sukumaran as Raman, is the hinge to Kareena's Ajooni. Seething with a caged rage. And almost never smiles. The two are the Ying and Yang of Daayra. And that's just one of the many dualities that Daayra navigates. The filmmaker said bringing together Kareena, who represents Hindi cinema, and Prithviraj, known for his work in Malayalam cinema, was a significant casting opportunity for her. As a casting opportunity, it was a dream come true for me. To get two prolific actors from the Hindi and Malayalam film industry to face each other off, she wrote. Meghna Gulzar Explores the Grey Areas in Daayra Inspired by several true events from different parts of India, Daayra does not focus on a single location. Instead, the film explores circumstances that can unfold across the country. Meghna has previously explored morally complex situations in films such as Talvar, Raazi, Chhapaak and Sam Bahadur. She said her interest in such stories comes from her understanding that life cannot always be divided into simple categories. As a student of Sociology, I learned that our life and our society is not binary. It's not just black and white. There is a spectrum of grey that we exist in. In my journey as a filmmaker through Talvar, Raazi, Chhapaak and Sam Bahadur, I have cherished exploring that very grey - within characters and within the world they, and we live in. It invades it... it attempts to dismantle it. At the heart of the story are Ajooni and Raman, two law enforcement officers who often find themselves on opposite sides of challenging situations. Meghna described Ajooni as fiercely righteous and Raman as righteously fierce. In it, the main protagonists Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran are both officers of law enforcement; and yet, they often find themselves on opposite sides of a delicate line. Daayra trailer is scheduled to release on August 31, giving audiences their first detailed glimpse at the central conflict and the performances. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is co-written by her along with Yash Keswani and Sima Agarwal. Sidharth Malhotra is set to explore the world of Indian folklore with The Vvaan, an upcoming fantasy adventure also starring Tamannaah Bhatia. For the actor, preparing for the role involved more than achieving a particular physique. He focused on developing the physicality required for a character navigating the film's demanding world. Speaking about his approach to preparing for physically demanding roles, Sidharth said, For me, the physical preparation always starts with understanding the character and what the world demands of him. I don't believe you can just arrive on set and expect the physicality to come together. It has to become part of the character. The actor explained that he distinguishes between simply looking fit and being physically ready for the requirements of a role. For The Vvaan, this meant considering how his character moves and responds to different situations. There is a difference between looking fit and being physically prepared for a role. For Vvaan, I had to think about how this character moves, how he reacts, how he carries himself and how he physically survives everything the story puts him through. The training has to support all of that, he said. Sidharth has previously undergone specialised training for action-oriented roles. For Yodha, he worked on close-quarter and hand-to-hand combat with Craig Macrae and his team, while also focusing on his overall conditioning. His preparation for The Vvaan similarly involved developing functional strength and agility suited to the character. The actor said he enjoys the physical aspect of preparing for his films, particularly when it allows him to learn something new for a role. I actually enjoy the physical side of preparing for a film. I like being active, and I like pushing myself to learn something new for every character, Sidharth said. He added, The goal isn't to make the training visible. The goal is for the audience to believe the character when they see him on screen. According to Sidharth, maintaining a sense of realism was particularly important for The Vvaan, given its fantastical setting. The world of Vvaan is unlike anything I've done before. So the responsibility was to make sure that even within this fantastical setting, the character always feels grounded and believable, he said. The Vvaan is rooted in folklore and combines elements of fantasy, adventure, mystery and humour. The film is written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The project also marks a collaboration between TVF, Balaji Motion Pictures and 11.11 Production. I became a film producer at 26; I wrote articles; I worked on the ground with multiple NGOs. I have such a full-body, textured, nuanced existence that I thrive in. And its all self-created. No one told me to do these things. I do them because they give me joy, and they deepen my purpose. And yes, I was anxious; I didnt have the vocabulary to define it at the time. Dia also acknowledged that anxiety remains a part of her life even today. Speaking about her current experiences, she said, I get anxious even now. I work in climate and gender parity. I feel all levels of anxiety practically daily, while adding that she has become better at recognising those feelings and working through them. The actress believes that understanding her own emotions and physical responses has also helped her in her personal life. I think I am a better mother because Im able to recognise whats happening with my body, she said. For Dia, identifying anxiety and learning how to navigate it has been an important part of finding a more grounded way of living. Rather than allowing pressure to define her, she has focused on creating a life driven by purpose and activities that bring her joy. On the professional front, Dia has recently been seen in projects including Ikka and Operation Safed Sagar. As she approaches 25 years in the film industry, the actress continues to explore varied roles and projects, with audiences looking forward to seeing more of her work. As anticipation builds around Tumbbad 2, actor-producer Sohum Shah has revisited one of the most recognisable locations from the original film. Shah recently shared pictures from the iconic wada where the 2018 horror film was shot, taking fans back to the setting that played a key role in the story. In the pictures, Sohum Shah can be seen sitting on the stairs near the front door of the wada. The location holds particular significance for the Tumbbad franchise, as several important events from the first film unfolded there. The wada was also central to the mythology established in Tumbbad, with the Goddesss womb and Hastar forming an important part of the story. The original film concluded at the same location, making its return especially relevant as the makers work on the sequel. Released in 2018, Tumbbad starred Sohum Shah and gained a cult following for its folklore-inspired narrative, distinctive visual world and atmospheric horror. The film received renewed attention after its theatrical re-release in 2024, when it reached a wider audience and performed strongly at the box office. The sequel has also expanded its cast. Nawazuddin Siddiqui joined Tumbbad 2, while Alia Bhatt has come on board in a pivotal role. The casting announcements were made by Sohum Shah in July, bringing Shah, Bhatt and Siddiqui together for the next instalment of the franchise. Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The shift immediately changed the dynamics inside the palace, with Rida joining Krystle in the murder of Tanya. The game then took another turn during a task involving curses, coffins and fire. The Innocents made a wrong decision, resulting in Ikka becoming the latest casualty. Prish trusts Rida despite new developments Ridas move went unnoticed by Prish, who continued to consider her the only contestant he could completely trust. While discussing possible Traitors, Prish named several players but ruled out Rida.
