Less than three months are left for the release of Ramayana and the excitement is tremendous thanks to its casting, subject and never-before-seen visuals. The film is produced by Namit Malhotra and not many are aware that he belongs to an illustrious film family. As per a post by senior industry member Rajesh Vasani of Paras Publicity, Namit Malhotra is the son of producer Naresh Malhotra, who in turn was the son of ace cinematographer and National Film Award winner Mahendra Nath Malhotra. Rajesh Vasani wrote, Having worked with the legendary B R Chopra, Naresh ji has also served as an assistant director to the acclaimed filmmaker Asit Sen, Naresh Malhotra developed a profound understanding of filmmaking from both the creative and business perspectives. He continued, He later became actively involved with the renowned Mushir-Riaz banner and ventured into film production. Along with Rishi Kapoor and Bittu Anand, the son of celebrated writer Inder Raj Anand, brother of filmmaker Tinu Anand, and father of director Siddharth Anand, he co-produced films such as Duniya Meri Jeb Mein (1979) and Yeh Ishq Nahin Aasan (1984). While these films did not achieve the desired commercial success, history has often shown that setbacks are merely stepping stones to greater achievements. Naresh Malhotra then got the opportunity to produce the much-remembered Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Shahenshah (1988). As per the post, The film emerged as a blockbuster, restoring confidence and momentum to the team. Shri Naresh Malhotra would thereafter be widely recognized as the producer of this iconic Amitabh Bachchan starrer, a film that remains a milestone in Indian cinema. Interestingly, Naresh Malhotra worked from modest office operating out of a building garage in Santacruz, Mumbai. It was given on rent by producer-director Naresh Kumar Tuli, brother of Rajendra Kumar aka Jubilee Kumar. Rajesh Vasani said, Always ahead of the curve, Naresh Malhotra ventured into post-production and, together with filmmaker Rahul Rawail and associates, established a dubbing studio at Pali Hill, Bandra. Close friends of Rishi Kapoor, they were among the early visionaries who recognized the immense potential of professional post-production services in India. Then, in 1997, Namit Malhotra founded Prime Focus from the same garage in Mumbai, carrying forward the familys cinematic legacy while embracing the future through technology and innovation. The Facebook post reveals, He was supported by a dedicated team, including professionals such as Anshul Doshi, who would later play a significant role in the companys international expansion, Prime Focus steadily broadened its horizons beyond India. What began as a modest post-production venture evolved into Indias first listed visual entertainment services company and eventually one of the worlds most respected integrated media services groups. The acquisition and integration of DNEG transformed the enterprise into a global leader in visual effects, animation, and creative technology, contributing to multiple Academy Award-winning productions and some of the most celebrated films in the world. Today, Prime Focus and DNEG stand as symbols of Indian excellence on the global stage. He continued, And now, Namit Malhotras dream has come full circle. Look closely at India's biggest horror hits of the last few years and a pattern emerges: reviews have been mixed, sometimes outright polarising, and it hasn't mattered. Audiences have shown up anyway, packing houseful shows for weeks on the strength of premise and atmosphere rather than a marquee name at the top of the poster. Hollywood has been running the same playbook for over a decade. The Conjuring universe, The Nun, Obsession - none of them lean on A-list star power. Their pull is the idea: the haunted object, the possessed house, the thing waiting behind the door. Horror may be the only genre left where the concept sells the ticket, not the cast. Insidious is arguably the franchise that proved this first. Across five films and thirteen years, it built one of Hollywood's most reliable box-office engines without ever leaning on a single above-the-title star, instead trading on a self-contained mythology (The Further, astral projection, the red door) that audiences return to, film after film, purely because they trust the universe. Directed by Aditya Datt, the action-romance drama will feature Singh alongside Emraan Hashmi, Genelia DSouza and Aparshakti Khurana. Singh, who recently made his acting debut with the historical drama 1946: Direct Action Day, said his experience in public service helped him approach the role differently. Having worked as an IAS officer, he believes his understanding of authority and responsibility gave him a personal reference point while portraying a police officer on screen. Most actors step in front of the camera to play authority; Ive had the privilege of living it in the real world first. Having served on the ground as an IAS officer, I understand the weight, discipline, and split-second decisions that come with holding responsibility, Singh said. He added that his previous career also influenced the way he approached the character in Gunmaaster G9. Bringing that lived experience into the reel world for Gunmaaster G9 gave my character a raw, authentic edge. In public service, governance taught me conviction; in cinema, this role allowed me to channel that exact mindset into high-octane action, he said. For Singh, playing a police officer was not simply about wearing the uniform. Stepping into the boots of a fearless cop wasnt just about putting on a uniform. It was about bridging real-life duty with reel-life intensity, he added. Abhishek Singh takes on a different role after debut Singh's upcoming role comes shortly after his acting debut in 1946: Direct Action Day, where he stepped into a demanding historical setting. With Gunmaaster G9, he will move into a contemporary action-driven world and explore a character defined by courage and determination. Ajay Bijli is known as the founder of PVR and the Managing Director of PVR INOX. But he also has a musical side to him. He has been the voice behind tracks like Beparwah and Wahe Guru in the past; the latter eventually became a part of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki (2023). He has now come up with his own EP titled On Another Note. The three songs from the same Rab Rakhda, Shukriya and Dil Kare Haye Haye released today. Sharing his reaction on the release, Ajay Bijli told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, It is very exciting. I have done a couple of songs before this. One was, of course, a rendition of Wahe Guru. The music was done by Sheykhar Ravjiani. That was exciting. Then it got picked up in a movie called Dunki in 2023. That gave me confidence that I can sing. I have always been very fond of singing since childhood. But I have always done covers. He added, When I was 16, I cut an album of English songs. I used to travel to England a lot. And I had made a small group called Photonics. I and my sister used to write poetry. I made 5-6 English songs. But after that I started doing covers only. I had a band in college called Modus Operandi. Of course, then I started PVR, so there was no singing (laughs) for a long time. He reconnected with singing during COVID and found a band called Random Order, which still exists. Again, we were doing covers, he said. But somewhere I was surrounded by singers, musicians and my own band members; they all said that I should do originals now. I thought I should do an English original as all my covers were in English. I also had a teacher who was American. But I also had a Hindi teacher. I thought if I am in India and I love independent music, then I should do original Indian music. Bijli has been fond of the music created by Sheykhar Ravjiani and Amit Trivedi. He made the film Aisha (2010), in which he liked Amits music. I told him I wish to do something original, he said. So, he came out with this song Beparwah. When the song came out, he said that it has come out very well and he liked the way I sang it. He said that he is coming up with an album Azaad Collab where he is collaborating with established singers like Javed Ali and Armaan Malik. He said, I dont mind if you also get included in that if you are okay. I said I dont mind. I said I am a businessman who is very fond of singing, so he if he likes my song, I am very happy to do that. That album and song did very well. When it came to On Another Note, Bijli thought about the first song Dil Kare Haye Haye when he was in Delhi for a wedding of his friends son. My friend asked me to sing some Hindi songs. At that time, I thought there is another Punjabi song on wedding that can be made. It completely exemplifies how an Indian wedding happens. So, I spoke to Shellee (Shailender Singh), the writer of Udta Punjab. He is a brilliant writer. I spoke to him and Amit and said that we should do a Punjabi song for a wedding. When asked if he is more inclined towards divine and spiritual numbers, he said, I am spiritual and I do recite Gods name, like everyone. But Rab Rakhda was never thought to be a divine song. It was always a love song. It has Rab ka naam but it is like Rab is looking at your love story as well. It is not a prayer. It is still a love song. Shukriya is not a divine song. But a sufi song can be divine and love song. But you are right in both the songs there is a divine angle. But that was not the intention. If you watch the video, it is not about God. Ektaa Kapoor takes popular Naagin franchise from TV to Cinema
Ektaa Kapoor has officially confirmed that her popular supernatural franchise Naagin is set to make its way from television to the big screen. The filmmaker-producer made the announcement on the occasion of Nag Panchami, putting an end to speculation surrounding the future of the long-running franchise. According to Ektaa, a Naagin movie is currently in the works. The announcement came on August 17, when Ektaa shared a cryptic social media post wishing fans on Nag Panchami and teasing that something exciting was on the way. She later confirmed that Naagin would not return to television in the same format at this point, instead hinting at a cinematic adaptation of the popular shape-shifting serpent franchise. Since its television debut in 2015, Naagin has become one of Indian televisions most recognisable supernatural properties. Created by Ektaa Kapoor and produced under Balaji Telefilms, the franchise has explored stories involving shape-shifting serpents, revenge, romance, family conflicts and supernatural powers.
