The makers of Drishyam: The Conclusion have released the first song from the soundtrack, titled Vingansa, offering a musical preview of the tension and retribution at the core of Vijay Salgaonkars story. Arriving after a gripping trailer that reintroduced Ajay Devgn as Vijay and brought in Jaideep Ahlawat as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, the song underscores the mounting pressure around Vijays long-guarded secret. The title Vingansa draws from the Portuguese word vingana, meaning revenge, and the composition leans into that emotion with a dark, brooding soundscape. The track is built around themes of anger and confrontation, suggesting a world where old wounds remain raw and vengeance now runs parallel to the pursuit of truth. Composer Ravi Basrur said, With 'Vingansa', I wanted the music to feel like the pressure was slowly building. There is a lot happening beneath the surface in Vijay's world, and the music needed to carry that without becoming too loud or obvious. Siddharth's voice has that rawness and intensity which worked beautifully for the song. Aamil's words also gave me a strong emotional space to build the composition around. Lyricist Aamil Keeyan Khan said, This composition by Ravi Basrur ji was so catchy and yet so peculiar that it demanded an equally peculiar word. 'Vingansa' is a Goan word that comes from the Portuguese word for revenge or vengeance. Revenge in this story is not simply about anger; it comes from everything these characters have done and carried with them for years. I wanted the lyrics to have that weight. The song had to feel like it belonged to the world of Drishyam, where every action has an equally terrifying reaction. Singer Siddharth Basrur said, When I heard the composition, I immediately felt that this song needed a certain rawness. It couldn't sound too perfect or too controlled. There is a lot of aggression and emotion underneath 'Vingansa', and I tried to keep that feeling alive in the vocals. Ravi's music already had so much intensity that my job was really to get inside that emotion and let the voice carry it. With 'Vingansa', the franchise gives audiences its first musical window into the concluding chapter, where every secret carries a cost and every decision could tip the balance. The film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on October 2, 2026. Drishyam: The Conclusion is presented by Star Studio18 and directed by Abhishek Pathak. Produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, with Sanjeev Joshi as co-producer, the ensemble features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant. The song is available now across streaming platforms via Sony Music India. Amazon MGM Studios Phoolan, written and directed by International Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, received a standing ovation following its World Premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 17. The Hindi action drama was screened in the festivals Special Presentation section at the Princess of Wales Theatre before an audience of more than 2,000. Starring Sneha Kumari in the titular role, the film features Anurag Thakur, Vikram Pratap Singh, Aakash Dahiya, Prateek Pachouri and Dev Dutt Budholiya in pivotal roles. The film focuses on a defining period in the life of Phoolan Devi, with its story centred on a 48-hour siege involving an armed group of 2,000 men. Phoolan is based on Phoolan Devis autobiography, I, Phoolan Devi: The Autobiography of India's Bandit Queen, published by Editions Robert Laffont. Rather than covering her entire life, the film focuses on a specific chapter, exploring the experiences that shaped her before she became a widely known figure. Speaking about the World Premiere, writer-director and producer Richie Mehta said, Phoolan Devi's story is one that demands to be told with honesty, and without compromise. I was drawn to a very specific chapter of Phoolan's life, the formative years before the world knew her name, contrasted with the period where she was a misunderstood legend. It felt essential to me to strip away the mythology and reveal the human underneath. The themes at the heart of her story resilience in the face of adversity, the search for dignity, and the courage to claim one's own voice are timeless. They resonate just as strongly today as they did then, across cultures and geographies. That is why this felt like the right moment to bring her story to the screen. From Poacher to Phoolan, Amazon MGM Studios has been a true creative collaborator, one that backs a filmmaker's vision and gives stories like these the global canvas they deserve. To witness the audience at TIFF rise to their feet, visibly moved, tells me that Phoolan's story has connected in exactly the way we hoped it would. I hope I have done justice to her voice and her story, the way she wanted the world to know. Shilangi Mukherji, Director & Head of SVOD Business, Prime Video, India, said, Our relationship with Richie Mehta goes back to Poacher, a fiercely personal project that became one of our most critically acclaimed Indian Originals. What defines Richie is his unwavering commitment to truth. He doesn't sensationalize; he tells stories with a quiet, unflinching honesty that stays with you long after the credits roll. With Phoolan, backing his vision was instinctive. At Amazon MGM Studios, we believe in the conviction of our filmmakers and their creative freedom to tell stories honestly and Richie exemplifies exactly that. Phoolan is one of those stories carrying a universal theme that transcends borders and languages. We are excited for audiences to experience this film in an authentic way. Shareen Mantri, Producer, Namah Pictures, said, Phoolan is an incredibly special film for all of us at Namah Pictures, and seeing it premiere at TIFF is both emotional and a moment of immense pride. This is a story that has lived in our hearts for a long time, a story of courage and the strength of the human spirit. Richie Mehta has brought such honesty and sensitivity to every frame, and Sneha Kumari has delivered a truly remarkable performance as Phoolan that I believe will resonate deeply with audiences, said Shareen Mantri, Producer, Namah Pictures. What makes this collaboration special is how each partner brings something distinct to the table. Namah Pictures' deep connection to Indian stories, Richie Mehta's nuanced and sensitive filmmaking, and Amazon MGM Studios' ability to bring meaningful cinema to a global stage, together, creates the right home for a story like Phoolan's. Watching people at TIFF connect with her story reminded me why we made this film. There are stories that belong not just to one person, but to all of humanity. Phoolan's life, defined by courage, dignity, and an unbreakable will to survive, is one such story. It is this universality that drives us to carry her narrative forward, using her story as a guiding light for storytelling that truly matters. The premiere was attended by the films cast and creative team, including Sneha Kumari, Anurag Thakur, Aakash Dahiya and Vikram Pratap Singh. Richie Mehta was joined at the event by producers Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kanwal Kohli and Kishor Arora of Namah Pictures, along with Shilangi Mukherji representing Prime Video, India. Produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Kanwal Kohli and Richie Mehta, Phoolan is a Namah Pictures production. Following its TIFF premiere, the film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide at a later date. For Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, the writing of Hunkkaar: The Roar offered a fresh lens on a sensitive subject, shifting focus from surface-level narratives of abuse to deeper questions of accountability and systemic power. The actor was particularly drawn to the shows insistence that responsibility must rest with the perpetrator, while also interrogating the structures that enable such figures. Zeeshan plays a dedicated lawyer who finds himself pitted against a formidable spiritual leader, a dynamic that added layers to his interest in the role. What set the character apart for him was the vulnerability underpinning the fighta man with limitations who still dares to dream bigger than his stature and confront a mighty force. There is an underdog, but there is also vulnerability. There are quite a few stories that have an underdog, but the vulnerability within it. Someone who, despite being up against a very powerful force, dreams of something much bigger than their own stature and stands up to fight for it. I think that is something that made me excited, Zeeshan said. Set in a world shaped by power, faith and influence, Hunkkaar: The Roar follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat (Aneet Padda), who accuses renowned spiritual figure Sunil Baapji Chakosi (Raghubir Yadav) of sexual assault. As the allegation triggers public scrutiny, the series traces the ripple effects across police investigations, courtroom battles and media trials. ACP Jasleen Singh Soni (Fatima Sana Shaikh) leads the probe, supported by Zeeshans lawyer, while Ram Kapoor appears as the godmans defence counsel, and Arjun Mathur plays a reporter dissecting the high-stakes narrative. Directed by Karan D. Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia, the show is produced by Applause Entertainment and Birla Studios, in association with Priyanka Chopra Jonass Purple Pebble Pictures and Mangata Films. Blending socio-legal crime thriller elements with courtroom drama, Hunkkaar: The Roar examines how law enforcement, judicial processes and media coverage intersect in cases involving influential figures. The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on JioHotstar on September 25, 2026. Also Read: Fatima Sana Shaikh opens up on microaggressions and patriarchy in Bollywood: We have to fight it

Kalki Koechlin curates Max Fashions Festive 2026 line: Art, craft and purpose take centre stage
This festive season, actor Kalki Koechlin steps into the role of curator for Max Fashion, helming a new collection that merges original artwork, traditional hand-block printing and contemporary silhouettes. The launch marks the debut edition of MAX PROJECT NEW, the retailers purpose-led platform that seeks to push creativity beyond the design studio and into everyday wear. A key pillar of the collection is its collaboration with the Kairassi Foundation, Chennai, a design-inclusive organisation that empowers specially-abled artists. Max Fashion worked with three artistsSimron, Pavithra and Manastranslating their original paintings directly onto garments and accessories. Simrons watercolour landscapes lend a dreamlike quality to skirts, while Pavithras fluid, ocean-inspired blues feature across shirts. Manas, the youngest of the trio, creates his work using a straw instead of a brush, resulting in a spontaneous, playful aesthetic that now appears on a tote bag. According to the brand, these are not reinterpretations, but the artists original paintings moved from canvas to fabric. Parallel to the art-led pieces, the collection also spotlights craft. Working with artisans in Sanganer, Rajasthan, Max Fashion developed an exclusive design that blends Japanese floral motifs with the regions signature hand block printing. The process involved hand-carving wooden blocks, mixing colours and printing each fabric layer one shade at a time. The outcome is a festive range where paint and pigment, contemporary expression and traditional technique coexist, underlining the stories behind what people wear. Sumit Chandna, CEO, Max Fashion, said, Fashion, for us, has always been more than what we wear, its a form of expression, a way to tell stories, and a platform that can create real impact. Kalki shared a vision with us that we instantly connected with, and together we built on it, the idea that festive dressing could carry meaning, not just style. MAX PROJECT NEW brings that belief to life, whether through an artists brushstroke or an artisans hand-carved block. And this is only the beginning. Kalki Koechlin added, Ive always wanted festive fashion to feel like its saying something, not just selling something. Whether its a tiny painted detail on a bag or a hand-carved print on a dress, you put it on and youre carrying someone elses story with you. I think that makes what you wear feel much more special. The collection is styled with an effortless, contemporary sensibility, favouring fluid silhouettes and unexpected pairings that work for festive evenings as well as everyday wardrobes. Max Fashion has indicated that MAX PROJECT NEW will continue across seasons, inviting new artists, craftspeople and creative voices into the fashion ecosystem. The campaign encapsulates this approach with the line: HOW NEW IS YOUR NEW. Tia Bajpai and Arian Romal take the new music video of FANAA into darker unexplored horror territory
Tia Bajpai is returning to the horror genre with FANAA, a new music video featuring music by Arian Romal. Described by its makers as Indias first-ever horror music video, the project combines an atmospheric visual treatment with a narrative that draws from the horror genre. Known for her association with horror, Tia Bajpai takes on an intense and mysterious avatar in FANAA. Instead of following the conventional format of a performance-led music video, the project incorporates elements of a short-form horror narrative, with the visuals building suspense around the character and the story. Speaking about her experience of shooting the project, Tia Bajpai said, Shooting FANAA was a completely different experience for me because we were trying to create something that feels like more than just a music video. The atmosphere, the visuals and the emotions of the character required me to completely immerse myself in that world. There were moments on set that were genuinely intense, but that is also what made the experience exciting and memorable. I think audiences will connect with FANAA because beneath the horror and suspense, there is a strong emotional layer to the story. It keeps you curious, makes you feel something and hopefully stays with you even after the video ends. Arian Romals music forms an integral part of the video, creating a contrast between the soulful quality of the song and the unsettling visual world. The track brings together melody, suspense and horror while using the music-video format to tell a story. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tia Bajpai (@tiabajpai) The makers have also built an element of anticipation around the viewing experience, encouraging audiences to watch FANAA till the end. The promotional messaging around the video includes a keep the lights on warning, hinting at the disturbing moments and twists incorporated into the narrative. FANAA also reflects the growing experimentation within the Indian music-video space, with artistes and creators exploring formats that extend beyond conventional romantic tracks and performance-based videos. By combining music with a horror storyline, the project attempts to give the format a more cinematic treatment. With Tia Bajpai at the centre of its visual narrative and Arian Romal providing the music, FANAA brings together two distinct elements horror and music within a single project. The video is designed to unfold progressively, keeping the narrative and its darker elements at the centre of the viewing experience. A song, 10 men, golden finish: Harbinder relives India's 1966 Asiad victory
Sixty years after India scripted hockey history at the 1966 Asian Games in Bangkok, Harbinder Singh still gets goosebumps when he hears the song that became the team's companion on its journey to gold. Whenever we went to a match, Shankar Laxman (India goalkeeper at that time) would play 'Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujawan shaheed ho' in the team bus, and all the players would sing along. This would automatically motivate us, the 83-year-old three-time Olympic medallist told PTI in an exclusive interview. Even today, when I hear this song, I get goosebumps, he added. It also became a galvanising force before their Asian Games final against arch foes Pakistan, a match that India won to bring home their first ever gold at the continental showpiece. The song and the final remain etched in the memory of the legendary centre-forward, who was also a part of India's 1964 Tokyo Olympics gold-winning team. We had won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics just two years earlier, and s

Pankaj Tripathi has spoken about the way the success of Mirzapur: The Movie has been handled by its makers, particularly producer Ritesh Sidhwani. The actor appreciated Sidhwani for not putting pressure on the cast to regularly share box office figures on social media following the films theatrical release. Mirzapur: The Movie, based on the popular web series, opened in theatres to a strong response. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide during its opening weekend and has continued to add to its global collections. Despite the box office milestones, the makers did not make collection updates a constant part of the casts social media activity. Speaking about Sidhwanis approach after the films release, Pankaj Tripathi said, Once the film was released in theatres and the daily numbers started coming in, Riteshs approach was remarkable. Even as we crossed milestones, there was zero pressure from his end to project or showcase numbers across social media. Box office figures have increasingly become a part of film promotions, with actors and production houses often sharing daily or milestone collections online. According to Tripathi, Sidhwani chose a different approach with Mirzapur: The Movie, allowing the audience response and word of mouth to play a larger role in the films theatrical journey. Elaborating on the decision, Pankaj added, It was entirely his decision to let the films success spread organically through word of mouth instead of attempting to constantly project numbers. That mindset was really impressive and says a lot about him as a producer. The film continued its theatrical run after its opening, recording steady collections during the weekdays. It has reportedly crossed Rs 195 crore net in India and has also continued its run in overseas markets. Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers. The cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee and Rasika Dugal, among others. The trailer of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha has been launched ahead of the films simultaneous release in cinemas across India in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi on September 25, 2026. Starring Dev Sharma as Shri Ram, Anjali Arora as Mata Sita and Rajniesh Duggall as Ravan, alongside Sheel Verma as Lakshman and Nirbhay Wadhwa as Hanuman, the film brings the journey of Lord Ram to the big screen. The trailer moves through some of the defining moments and emotions of the Ramayan, from the bond between Shri Ram and Mata Sita and the journey of vanvas to Sita Haran, Hanuman jis Bhakti and the eventual confrontation between dharm and adharm. The trailer frames this central conflict through the thought, Adharm Ke Saamne Dharm Ka Naam, Shri Ram, placing Dharma and Maryada at the heart of the films telling. At the heart of the film is what the makers describe as its Katha Bhav, the emotional and devotional quality with which the Ramayan has been heard, watched and experienced within families over generations. The films larger thought has similarly viewed Shri Ram through Maryada, Mata Sita through Sankalp, Hanuman ji through Bhakti and Lakshman through Kartavya. While recent big-screen interpretations have often been defined by scale and spectacle, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha takes a more intimate route, drawing its strength from the katha, its music and its emotional core. Director Abhishek Singh said, Every filmmaker will have a different way of approaching the Ramayan. For us, the first question was what feeling we wanted the audience to carry with them. We kept returning to the Katha Bhav, the Prem between Shri Ram and Mata Sita, Hanuman jis Bhakti, Lakshmans Kartavya and the Maryada with which Shri Ram faces every circumstance. That bhav had to remain at the centre of our telling. For producers Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, the decision to make the film also came from a deeply personal connection with the katha. They said, The Ramayan has travelled from one generation to another in so many ways, through kathas, bhajans, families sitting together and through the screen. What stays with us is not only the events, but the bhav with which we receive them. We were not setting out to make the biggest or most expensive interpretation. We wanted to make the film with shraddha and create an experience that families across generations could watch together. Dev Sharma, who plays Lord Ram, said, For me, Shri Rams strength lies not only in what he can do, but in the restraint, compassion, duty and Maryada with which he makes every choice. That became the starting point for me. There is a different responsibility when you portray someone who is not merely a character for people, but someone they revere. Even saying Jai Shri Ram creates an aura around you that, in itself, reminds you to stay on the right path. Anjali Arora, who makes her feature-film debut as Mata Sita, said, What stayed closest to my heart about Mata Sita was her unwavering resolve. There is immense grace and gentleness within her, but behind that gentleness lies an extraordinary inner strength. Even through the most difficult circumstances and periods of separation, she never let go of her dignity, her faith or her values. For me, the most important part of portraying her was to bring that inner strength and dignity into my performance with complete sensitivity. Rajniesh Duggall, who plays Ravan, said, Ravan possessed immense knowledge, power and stature, but ultimately his aham became greater than his wisdom. Raavan had ten heads, but it was the one called I that destroyed him. We all have a Ravan within us. We just need to make sure we dont feed him. That, for me, is also what makes the conflict between Dharma and Adharma so deeply relevant even today. Among the notable voices associated with the films music are Kailash Kher, Javed Ali, Farhad Bhiwandiwala, Anurag Sharma and Sunil Soni across its Hindi and Chhattisgarhi songs, with Shaan also lending his voice to an upcoming song. The films connection with Chhattisgarh extends beyond language. Parts of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha were filmed at real locations across the state, allowing the natural terrain to become part of the world of the katha. Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is directed by Abhishek Singh, produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, co-produced by Honey Kuldeep Agarwal and Monika Sen, and presented by Ajay Kanojia of AJ Film Entertainment World. The film is a Mahobiya Films Production. Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha releases simultaneously in cinemas across India in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi on September 25, 2026. Ali Zafar has spoken against the body-shaming faced by his Mere Brother Ki Dulhan co-star Katrina Kaif following her recent public appearance. The Pakistani actor-singer addressed social media comments about Katrinas post-pregnancy appearance and urged people, particularly men, to reconsider the beauty standards they place on women. In a video circulating online, Ali said he had come across posts comparing Katrinas appearance before and after pregnancy. He noted that he has spoken against such trolling in the past as well, including when Pakistani actors such as Mahira Khan faced similar comments. Speaking about the issue, Ali said, We all need to look within ourselves. Especially as a man, if I am speaking about this, I think it is very important for us to look within ourselves and make the necessary corrections. We have all made mistakes in life; no one is perfect. But it is important to recognise those mistakes and correct them. But if we talk man to man, the privilege we assume comes with being a man, and the way we perceive a woman, her body, the way she thinks and the way she lives if she does not fit the standards that we have created, we immediately put that woman down. Ali also spoke about the unrealistic expectations surrounding physical appearance for both women and men. He said, This is wrong; this is not the right way to look at things. Every person is going through their own struggles, and we do not know what someone else might be dealing with. So, we should be kind to people, compassionate, understanding, accepting and appreciative. If you study the renaissance, in the earlier era, concepts about womens bodies were different. Then came a time when women were expected to have a zero figure, and even towards men, the expectations about six-pack abs are not realistic. They are not healthy. Its not healthy to always criticise other people. They are all human beings and we have the potential to be nice to each other. He concluded, We all have a past. I will feel ashamed if I ever criticise someone on the basis of their looks. We all must look inside and, as men, we should correct ourselves that we shouldnt do this. Every woman has their life, what she has gone through, what her past, present or future, let her live, and you live your life. Katrina, who welcomed her son Vihaan with husband Vicky Kaushal in November last year, recently made a rare public appearance with him at Mukesh and Nita Ambanis Ganpati celebration. Following the appearance, some social media users shared her pre- and post-pregnancy pictures while commenting on her appearance. The actor had also faced similar comments after she was spotted at filmmaker Kuku Kohlis prayer meet in August. Actor Shivaleeka Oberoi had then supported Katrina on social media, writing, Kya ho gaya hai (What happened) means?! This is Motherhood! Ali made his Bollywood debut with Tere Bin Laden in 2010 and later appeared in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, London, Paris, New York and Chashme Baddoor. He also contributed songs to Hindi films, including Ullu Da Pattha, Madhubala and Nahi Re Nahi. His Bollywood career was later affected by tensions in India-Pakistan relations. Following the 2016 Uri attack, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena called for a ban on Pakistani artistes working in India. Singer-composer Vishal Mishra is bringing the cultural and devotional traditions of Bihars Chhath festival to mainstream Hindi cinema with Chhathi Maiya, the latest song from Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest. The song brings the festival to the big screen, with Tamannaah performing Chhath rituals alongside Sidharth. For Vishal Mishra, Chhathi Maiya holds significance beyond being another addition to a film soundtrack. The song gives him an opportunity to introduce the faith, traditions and cultural identity associated with Chhath to a wider audience through mainstream Bollywood cinema. Vishal has sung and composed the track, while the lyrics have been penned by Kaushal Kishore. The collaboration also marks a reunion between the two artistes, who previously worked together on the 2021 devotional song Chhathi Maiya Bulaye. The song went on to garner over 16 million views on YouTube, making their collaboration on the new track a continuation of their association with music rooted in Bhojpuri culture. Speaking about the cultural relevance of Chhathi Maiya, Vishal highlighted his personal connection with the traditions represented by the song. He has described Bhojpuri as more than just a language, calling it a reflection of the soil, folk traditions and cultural identity of Bihar and Purvanchal. It is truly an honour and a blessing for me to bring the faith and sacred tradition of Chhath, deeply rooted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, to Hindi cinema for the first time, Vishal has said, adding that his wish is for the beauty and fragrance of the culture to travel to every corner of the world. The song brings the rituals and devotional atmosphere of Chhath to the screen, with Tamannaah Bhatia seen performing the rituals alongside Sidharth Malhotra. The release has also connected with audiences who share a personal and cultural association with the festival. Chhathi Maiya thus marks a move from Vishals earlier independent devotional work into a mainstream Hindi film setting, while retaining the cultural roots at the centre of the song. Through the track, the makers have incorporated an important festival associated with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand into the narrative and musical world of The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest. Directed by Deepak Mishra, The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 25.
