The recently released Mirzapur The Movie has several memorable scenes. But one sequence that truly stands out is the moment when Mumtaz (Sonal Chauhan) gets shot, that too unexpectedly by none other than Chandu Puncture (Satendra Soni). The reactions from the audience were one of a kind some were shocked, some couldnt stop laughing and some laughed in sheer disbelief! In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mirzapur The Movie director Gurmmeet Singh opened up about this sequence and the challenges associated with it. Gurmmeet Singh said, Ravi Kishans character Babban was being loved a lot. Also, in Mirzapur, theres no concept of a hero or villain. Everyone is grey and you understand their motivations. Aisa nahin hai ki koi aadmi ekdum bura hai. You do get attached to them. We were very scared because we didnt want the scales to tip in favour of Babban. Then, the audiences would not have been happy that our heroes won. So, we kept wondering what would happen, as so many emotions were riding on him. He continued, Thankfully, the balance was achieved. Audiences took them as larger-than-life characters. They wanted Guddu (Ali Fazal), Munna (Divyenndu) and Kaleen Bhaiyya (Pankaj Tripathi) to win. Also, that scene was the very purpose behind the character of Chandu Puncture. We knew that we wanted someone innocent to kill Mumtaz and that it needed to happen by mistake. It wasnt out of aggression. So, Chandu killing her felt a little bittersweet. Audiences were left wondering whether they should enjoy Chandus humour or feel bad for Mumtaz. It was a bizarre dichotomy that played out in the film. Gurmmeet Singh further remarked, In fact, the emotion landed most strongly when Chandu dies. Thats when audiences either gasped or went completely silent. Nevertheless, it was magical, almost like the olden days, when until we saw the audience reacting, we didnt know what to expect from a scene. When asked about working with Ravi Kishan and whether he dropped any gems, Gurmmeet replied, Ravi sir is absolutely entertaining. His public persona right now is that hes all about fun and games. But hes also a deep thinker. No wonder he plays dramatic scenes so beautifully. He has done more than 700 films and hence, hes an institution in himself. He has seen so many ups and downs and has had such a vast journey. If you sit with him and listen to his conversations, kahan 3-3, 4-4 ghante nikal jaate hain, pata hi nahin chalta! Swara Bhasker has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, revealing that she underwent two unsuccessful rounds of IVF with an anonymous donor before she married Fahad Ahmad and later became a mother. The actor shared the details during a conversation with fellow contestants on Rise And Fall Season 2. Swara recalled a time when she had begun to believe that marriage might not happen for her, but she remained certain about one thing: she wanted to become a mother. Rather than waiting for marriage to happen before starting a family, Swara said she had considered pursuing motherhood independently. She also discussed the decision with her parents and eventually received their support. I was okay to do IVF, I had convinced my parents, Meri shaadi toh hone se rahi, main IVF se bacha karungi. Swara said. Swara Bhasker discusses IVF with her parents Swara recalled that her parents were initially surprised when she brought up the idea. However, after understanding how seriously she felt about becoming a mother, they chose to support her while also making her aware of the challenges she could face. First they were like, Hain? And then bechare mere parents yaar, bade sweet log hain. They were like, Okay, but of course talked to me and said, Listen, it will be very challenging in a country like India. But its okay if thats what you want, Swara then revealed that she did not stop at discussing the possibility of IVF. She went ahead with the treatment and underwent two attempts using an anonymous donor. However, neither attempt resulted in a successful pregnancy. You know, I did two rounds of IVF, anonymous donor, and hua nahi, she said. How did Swara and Fahad Ahmad meet? Swaras personal life later took an unexpected turn when she met Fahad Ahmad at a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in New Delhi in January 2020. The meeting eventually developed into a relationship, with Swara recalling how quickly their equation progressed: We hooked up like immediately it was insane. We got married in a court, we had a court wedding. Like basically 2-3 khushkhabri humein saath mein mil gayi. Swara and Fahad registered their marriage in Mumbai on February 16, 2023. The couple subsequently celebrated their wedding with their family and friends in a traditional ceremony. Husne Shabnam said, It is among the best memories of my life. When I learned that I was going to coach Amitabh sir, I knew that he is very punctual. So, I reached well before time. Following the incident, Shehzads team stated on social media, addressing the events and defending his conduct during the confrontation. Rise And Fall Season 2 premiered on September 26, 2026. The clash took place during the Ultimate Ruler race in the Penthouse, after tensions between the two contestants had already been building. During the race, the Rulers were asked to identify the contestant they considered the weakest decision-maker. Several contestants named Siwet, resulting in him being eliminated from that particular race. Siwet subsequently used his remaining power to name Shehzad as the weakest decision-maker. The situation escalated later when Shehzad questioned Siwet about his interaction with Swara Bhasker. Siwet had earlier said that he would not speak to Swara following her comments surrounding Rajput women and the Padmaavat Jauhar scene. Shehzad questioned the apparent contradiction, leading to an argument between the two. The confrontation eventually turned physical, with Siwet grabbing Shehzad by the neck and pushing him down. Shehzad was left injured, with his clothes also torn during the altercation. Siwet was subsequently ejected from the show. Shehzads team issues statement Following the incident, Shehzads team shared a statement on social media, highlighting what they described as the contestants decision to remain composed despite being subjected to verbal provocation before the confrontation. The statement read, THEY ABUSED HIM, HE WAS SILENT THEY MOCKED HIM, HE WAS SILENT THEN THEY HIT HIM, HE WAS SILENT. The statement further read, Shehzad lost his father when he was just a child. His mother is growing older, and he doesnt share an easy relationship with his brother because of their ideological differences. He came to the show to play, work and earn his livelihood, yet you chose to abuse and attack him physically from behind. Lyricist Mehboob has carved a distinct niche for himself, having penned some of the finest songs of the 1990s and 2000s for films such as Rangeela (1995), Bombay (1995), Daud (1997), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Thakshak (1999) and Yuva (2004), among others. In the mid-2000s, he suffered from multiple slipped discs, as a result of which lyric writing took a backseat. He made a comeback with Heropanti 2 (2022) and, more recently, penned Adnan Sami's much-loved single, 'Ishq Tamasha'. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mehboob spoke about 'Ishq Tamasha' and shared fascinating anecdotes and trivia as he went down memory lane. 'Ishq Tamasha' was recently released and has been quite loved. How has the feedback been? The response has been very heartwarming. Whenever you write something, you obviously hope that people will connect with it, and it feels wonderful when they do. I have always believed that emotions don't really change with time. Love, heartbreak, longing - these feelings remain the same. 'Ishq Tamasha' comes from that emotional space, so seeing people connect with the words and the song has made me very happy. How did you get associated with the song and how was it working with Adnan Sami? Adnan and I have known each other and worked together earlier as well. He had sung Baadal in Yuva (2004), which I had written, and we had also worked together on Aaja Aaja from Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke (2001). So, this wasn't our first association, but we were coming together after a long time. When Adnan got this tune, we started working on it and during that process, the phrase 'Ishq Tamasha' came about. We liked the thought and decided to build the song around it. The idea was that when outside voices, circumstances or misunderstandings enter a relationship, love itself can become a tamasha. Working with Adnan again after so many years felt very natural. It's a pleasure to have you back and I believe you were away due to health reasons. How are you doing now and did you miss songwriting during your sabbatical? I am doing much better now, Alhamdulillah, and I am happy to be writing again. Of course, I missed writing. Writing has been such an important part of my life that you cannot really separate yourself from it completely. Even when you aren't sitting down to write a song, you are observing life, feeling things and collecting experiences somewhere within you. What surprised me when I returned was that creatively, I didn't feel that I had changed. The emotions are still the same - romance, sadness, pathos, melancholy. You still have a tune, a situation and an emotion, and you try to find the right words for them. A film whose music is timeless is Rangeela (1995), one of your earliest films. Most lyricists in our industry are from the North, but you are an exception as you were born in Mumbai. Do you think this factor also played a part in writing lyrics of Rangeela, especially the lines sung by a tapori character like Aamir Khan? Absolutely, growing up in Mumbai gives you an ear for the city. You hear the language spoken on the streets - its rhythm, humour, slang and attitude. Munna (Aamir Khan) wasn't somebody who could suddenly start speaking very polished, literary Hindi in a song. His words had to sound like they belonged to the same person you had just seen speaking on screen. For me, lyrics have to belong to the character and the situation. So, with Rangeela, particularly Munna's songs, the challenge was to retain that Mumbai flavour while still making the words musical. If the audience felt that Munna was speaking even when he was singing, then I think the writing did its job. I saw the making video of the song 'Kya Karein Ya Na Karein' and realized that the lyrics were different initially. What led to the change of lyrics? The lyrics did go through a change before we arrived at the final version that everyone knows today. Initially, the first antara I wrote was a bit poetic. After the recording, Ramu ji (Ram Gopal Varma) and I felt that it was not suitable for Munna's character. He wouldn't use such poetic and literary language and hence, I changed it to what you hear today. Your songs in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) are also legendary. Interestingly, I read in an interview that 'Tadap Tadap Ke' was finalized for another film which eventually got shelved. Which film was it, who was making it and who starred in it? Yes, 'Tadap Tadap Ke' existed even before Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Ismail Darbar and I used to create songs and keep them in our song bank, and this was one of them. It had actually been finalised for a film titled Dus. It was supposed to be directed by the late Mukul Anand ji, but unfortunately Mukul ji passed away and the film was shelved. In that film, Dilip Kumar Sahab was playing the character of a Sufi qawwal. So, we had actually made the song for him. Later, it became the first song Sanjay Leela Bhansali heard from us. He loved it, and eventually that very song became one of the reasons we got Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Sometimes a song has its own destiny.

Thirty years after Diljale released, Harman Baweja has revisited memories from the films sets, recalling an early experience that shaped his understanding of filmmaking. The actor, producer and writer was 15 when he visited the sets of the film, directed by his father and filmmaker Harry Baweja, and found himself trying to understand what exactly a director does while every department on a film set appeared to have a defined role. Harman remembers watching the shoot of Shaam Hai Dhuan Dhuan, with Saroj Khan choreographing the song, Veeru Devgan handling the action and Naidu working on the camera. Observing the different departments at work, he eventually asked his father about his role as a director. I remember sitting and having lunch and then looking at my father and saying, I'm very confused, what do you do on set? Everybody on that lunch table laughed. I was like, Veeruji is doing the action, Sarojji is doing the choreography, Naidu uncle is doing the camera work. All the actors are doing their job. So, I was like, what are you doing as a director? Because everybody's doing their job, Harman recalled. According to Harman, Harry Bawejas response became an early lesson in how different departments come together to serve a films overall vision. He just looked at me and said, You're absolutely right. He told me the job of a director is to effectively tell and narrate a story in the audiovisual medium. These HODs, these technicians, these crews they're a plethora of talent, but eventually they all have to fall into the vision of what the director wants to say, Harman said. Another memory from the same shoot involved Shaam Hai Dhuan Dhuan. Harman recalls that after the song was initially recorded, both Harry Baweja and composer Anu Malik were not completely convinced with the result. The song was subsequently revisited before the team decided to go ahead with it. For Harman, the experience became an early example of trusting creative instinct and revisiting a piece of work when it did not feel right initially. Today, I feel so blessed that I had the chance to witness my father and all these great actors, technicians and choreographers doing their magic. Being around them at that age and seeing how a film comes together has definitely helped me become a better filmmaker. I carry those learnings with me as I continue to build my own journey and carry forward my father's legacy, he added. Three decades later, Harman has expanded his work across acting, production and writing. Following his acting comeback with Scoop, he took on a larger role at Baweja Studios as Managing Director and producer. He has also co-written and produced projects including Mrs. and System. His current slate includes Haq, Kaptaan, Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, Dil Ka Darwaja and Jugaddu, while Captain India is currently on floors. For Harman, looking back at Diljale brings him back to an early set experience that introduced him to the collaborative nature of filmmaking. The lessons he recalls from watching his father work continue to inform his approach as he builds his own career across different aspects of the film industry.
