Chahatt Khanna makes OTT debut with Hasratein on Hungama OTT
Actress and entrepreneur Chahatt Khanna is making her web series debut with Hasratein, set to premiere on Hungama OTT in August this year. Hasratein marks Khannas first project in the digital space and follows the journey of a single mother. Speaking about her OTT debut, Khanna said, My debut web series, Hasratein, is releasing on Hungama OTT. The show has had successful seasons in the past, and I really loved the concept when I first heard the script. It revolves around a single mother and her journey, and I found the story extremely relatable. I believe many single mothers will be able to connect with the emotions, challenges, and experiences portrayed through the show. Khanna added that the show holds special significance for her as her first web series. She said, Since Hasratein is going to be my debut web series, Im really excited about it. I am genuinely looking forward to doing more and more work in the digital space. I feel this is a format that really suits me and, in many ways, is my niche. I find web content more relatable, contemporary, and entertaining, and there is so much scope for actors to explore different kinds of characters and stories. Khannas entry into the web space comes at a point in her career where she is looking to explore roles and stories beyond traditional television. Through Hasratein, she aims to connect with audiences on themes of relationships, emotions, resilience and the realities of a single mothers journey. Pratibha Ranta is set to explore a new side of her acting range with her upcoming series The Revolutionaries. The makers have unveiled a new promo introducing her character, Pratibha Lahiri, presenting her as a determined and fearless revolutionary in director Nikkhil Advanis period drama. The series is among the much-awaited titles scheduled to premiere in September. Set against the backdrop of Indias freedom struggle, The Revolutionaries follows a group of young Indian freedom fighters who believed that armed resistance was essential in their fight against British rule. Rantas character is portrayed as one of the individuals who refuses to step back, with the promo highlighting her strength, determination and commitment to the revolutionary cause. The character is introduced in the promo with the lines, Aandhiyon se datt kar ladi, pahaad bann kar khadi rahi, inquilaab ki awaaz bani! Gadar machaane sabse aage - Sarfire, The Revolutionaries. The introduction sets the tone for Pratibha Lahiri, who is shown as an unwavering figure willing to take a stand despite the challenges around her. For Ranta, the role also marks an opportunity to move beyond familiar territory as a performer. Her restrained expressions, period-inspired styling and composed screen presence reflect the characters strength without relying solely on dialogue. The promo focuses on allowing Lahiris personality and convictions to come through. Director Nikkhil Advani has also expressed his belief in Rantas performance, telling the actor, The world will see your heart and soul. His words further add to the anticipation surrounding her portrayal in the series. The Revolutionaries also stars Rohit Saraf, Bhuvan Bam, Gurfateh Pirzada and Jason Shah, among others. Ajay Bijli is known as the founder of PVR and the Managing Director of PVR INOX. But he also has a musical side to him. He has been the voice behind tracks like Beparwah and Wahe Guru in the past; the latter eventually became a part of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki (2023). He has now come up with his own EP titled On Another Note. The three songs from the same Rab Rakhda, Shukriya and Dil Kare Haye Haye released today. Sharing his reaction on the release, Ajay Bijli told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, It is very exciting. I have done a couple of songs before this. One was, of course, a rendition of Wahe Guru. The music was done by Sheykhar Ravjiani. That was exciting. Then it got picked up in a movie called Dunki in 2023. That gave me confidence that I can sing. I have always been very fond of singing since childhood. But I have always done covers. He added, When I was 16, I cut an album of English songs. I used to travel to England a lot. And I had made a small group called Photonics. I and my sister used to write poetry. I made 5-6 English songs. But after that I started doing covers only. I had a band in college called Modus Operandi. Of course, then I started PVR, so there was no singing (laughs) for a long time. He reconnected with singing during COVID and found a band called Random Order, which still exists. Again, we were doing covers, he said. But somewhere I was surrounded by singers, musicians and my own band members; they all said that I should do originals now. I thought I should do an English original as all my covers were in English. I also had a teacher who was American. But I also had a Hindi teacher. I thought if I am in India and I love independent music, then I should do original Indian music. Bijli has been fond of the music created by Sheykhar Ravjiani and Amit Trivedi. He made the film Aisha (2010), in which he liked Amits music. I told him I wish to do something original, he said. So, he came out with this song Beparwah. When the song came out, he said that it has come out very well and he liked the way I sang it. He said that he is coming up with an album Azaad Collab where he is collaborating with established singers like Javed Ali and Armaan Malik. He said, I dont mind if you also get included in that if you are okay. I said I dont mind. I said I am a businessman who is very fond of singing, so he if he likes my song, I am very happy to do that. That album and song did very well. When it came to On Another Note, Bijli thought about the first song Dil Kare Haye Haye when he was in Delhi for a wedding of his friends son. My friend asked me to sing some Hindi songs. At that time, I thought there is another Punjabi song on wedding that can be made. It completely exemplifies how an Indian wedding happens. So, I spoke to Shellee (Shailender Singh), the writer of Udta Punjab. He is a brilliant writer. I spoke to him and Amit and said that we should do a Punjabi song for a wedding. When I sang, it turned out be well. We then added more tadka to it. We then made a video, which will come out after 15-20 days. Ganesh Acharya did the choreography, he said. Both Shellee and Amit suggested that they should keep this one as the second or third song. Thats because I have an image of running a company; a corporate image. So, they said let us come out with something sober to begin with. Thats how Rab Rakhda came. It turned out to be well. Warner Music said that we should make a video of this. But I am not an actor from any stretch of imagination (laughs). I dont mind being portrayed as a singer in a video. Even in my Wahe Guru video, I am there only 10-20% of the times. The song is a love triangle. But I am only there for 10-20%, just to establish that I am a singer, said Bijli. Sharing the thought behind Shukriya, he said, I believe in a lot of gratitude and I see a lot of people who are not thankful for what they have. Koi thankful hi nahin hai aaj ki duniya mein. I spoke to Shellee and Amit and all the light bulbs lit up. Amit turned up with an amazing composition and beautiful lyrics in not even seven days. I then suggested adding a Sufi touch to it. Then it became even bigger. We will make a video of this too. It will be a very big video. Rab Rakhda has the word Rab, which means God. Shukriya is about being grateful for what one has while Bijlis earlier song Wahe Guru was also about God. When asked if he is more inclined towards divine and spiritual numbers, he said, I am spiritual and I do recite Gods name, like everyone. But Rab Rakhda was never thought to be a divine song. It was always a love song. It has Rab ka naam but it is like Rab is looking at your love story as well. It is not a prayer. It is still a love song. Shukriya is not a divine song. But a sufi song can be divine and love song. But you are right in both the songs there is a divine angle. But that was not the intention. If you watch the video, it is not about God. It is about so many people you can be grateful to. Signing off, Ajay Bijli said about On Another Note, I have put my heart and soul into it and given as much passion as I do when I open a PVR cinema. Ektaa Kapoor takes popular Naagin franchise from TV to Cinema
Ektaa Kapoor has officially confirmed that her popular supernatural franchise Naagin is set to make its way from television to the big screen. The filmmaker-producer made the announcement on the occasion of Nag Panchami, putting an end to speculation surrounding the future of the long-running franchise. According to Ektaa, a Naagin movie is currently in the works. Shah Rukh Khans iconic Mumbai residence Mannat witnessed an unexpected incident on Monday evening when two snakes were spotted on the property. The sighting prompted a rescue operation at the Bandra bungalow, with a snake rescuer and Forest Department officials being alerted. Fortunately, one of the snakes was identified as a non-venomous Dhaman, also known as the Indian rat snake, and was safely rescued. According to Hindustan Times, snake rescuer Vicky Dubey received a call around 8 pm after the two snakes were noticed moving around the premises. Dubey immediately informed Forest Department officials and the Mumbai Range Office, Thane, before making his way to Mannat. Upon reaching the residence, the rescuer found one Dhaman hiding underneath a staircase in the courtyard. The snake appeared frightened and stayed coiled as the rescue team approached. It was eventually rescued and later released into its natural habitat in accordance with Forest Department guidelines. Dubey also reassured those present that there was no need to panic. While one snake was successfully rescued, the second managed to escape from the property after being startled by the movement of people around it. The incident at Mannat comes months after a similar snake sighting at Salman Khans Galaxy Apartment. Earlier this year, a snake was reportedly spotted at the residence, following which a snake wrangler was called to safely capture the reptile and hand it over to the authorities. As the director works on the trailer and reviews the films rushes, he has spoken about the experience of working with both actors and their contrasting characters. Saif Ali Khan plays a blind man in the film, a role that Priyadarshan says required no formal training. The filmmaker revealed that he gave Saif a simple instruction to understand the characters condition. No training, nothing, Priyadarshan said, explaining that when Saif asked how he should approach the role, he told him that he would explain it on the first day of shooting. Priyadarshan further highlighted the actors ability to understand the character and deliver naturally, he said, Saif made the character his own. I didnt have to explain much. He just listened, understood, and delivered beyond expectation. When he came to me, I told him to open his eyes, and without blinking, to think that he cannot see. The filmmaker is also exploring a different side of Akshay Kumar in Haiwaan. Unlike their earlier collaborations, many of which were comedies, the upcoming thriller features Kumar as a ruthless antagonist. Priyadarshan clarified that the character is not morally ambiguous but is a dangerous psychopath. Akshays character is not grey; he is a psycho in Haiwaan, Priyadarshan said. He added that their long-standing professional relationship has created a strong level of trust, allowing Akshay to perform without repeatedly questioning his direction. Khymsar said, Anurag Kashyap introduced me to Nawazuddin nearly eight years ago on the sets of Sacred Games and since then Nawaz and I have become close friends and creative collaborators. Kumar shared his story during a recent appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati. Kumar said he contracted polio at the age of five but did not let the condition define his life. He credited Khans film, released in 2010, with playing a pivotal role in shaping the course of his fitness journey. Kumar said, Sir, Salman Khans film Dabangg was released around 2010. In the climax scene of that film, when Salman Khans shirt tears and his physique is revealed, I felt a different kind of enthusiasm. I felt like I wanted to build a body like that, with biceps, triceps, and a chest. Thats when my gym routine began. Kumars account adds to a growing list of instances in which Khans on-screen presence has motivated fans to take up fitness. I was shooting a chocolate commercial with him, and I was very new to the industry, I had hardly done any work before that, she said. The commercial was shot at the Inorbit Mall parking lot in Malad, on a particularly hot and sunny day. While the set was being arranged, Sukhani stood to the side, unaware that Bachchan had noticed her standing in the heat. He sent an umbrella with his assistant and told him to give it to me. So, he stood there holding the umbrella and brought a chair for me to sit on, she shared. For someone who was still new to the industry, the gesture stood out to Sukhani, particularly because it came from someone of Bachchans stature. For Sukhani, the gesture meant far more than comfort from the heat, it was a reflection of who Bachchan is. He didnt need to do that. He is Mr. Bachchan, I am nobody. Even now, I am nothing compared to him. But that gesture, showing such care while I was standing in the sun, he sent a chair over. I think that speaks to his greatness. Only someone like him would do that, she explained. Sukhani also recalled a brief conversation with the actor after the commercial had been shot. When they met on a flight, he asked her whether she had seen the advertisement, which was about to air. At first, I thought, He recognized me, thats a big deal! Then he said it turned out really well, she recalled. Their paths crossed again years later on the sets of Department, where she watched him share the screen with Sanjay Dutt in a wedding dance sequence. Looking back at it all, Sukhani summed up what working alongside Bachchan has meant to her. I think once youve worked with him, or even just worked in his vicinity, I think your life is a success, she said. The actor, who has enjoyed a major career resurgence following the success of Gadar 2, recalled how changing dynamics in the film industry affected the kind of work coming his way. Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, Sunny reflected on the success of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Indian, both released in 2001. He pointed out that Indian had performed strongly at the box office, while Gadar went on to become an even bigger success. Along with Gadar, I also delivered Indian, which was a much bigger hit than Lagaan and all the other films of that time. It did two to three times of Lagaans business. Gadar did much more than that, Sunny said. However, the actor said his career trajectory changed soon after. According to him, the arrival of corporate studios also coincided with a shift in the way films were being made and cast. Suddenly, corporates came in, and the film industrys format began changing. But after that, I dont know why I wasnt getting the right subjects and makers, he recalled. Sunny Deol on the difficult phase of his career The actor subsequently appeared in several films that failed to make a significant impact at the box office. He also recalled the controversy surrounding his 2005 film Jo Bole So Nihaal, which was directed by Rahul Rawail. That film didnt go too far because of politics. So, we had to withdraw it because of certain issues. These days, when politics is entering films, that should not happen. Were not doing anything. Were just entertainers. Anyone says anything rubbish outside of India, but theres no censorship on that, Sunny said. The difficult professional period was accompanied by financial pressure. In 2023, reports emerged that a bank had issued an e-auction notice for his Juhu property, Sunny Villa, over alleged outstanding dues and interest amounting to around 55.99 crores. The loan was reportedly linked to his 2016 film Ghayal Returns, which Sunny produced. Looking back at the situation, the actor said he did not owe money to other individuals. The money I owed was all mine. I didnt borrow it from anyone. I didnt owe anyone anything. I just had to sell my own asset and pay back, he said. The bank subsequently withdrew the auction notice after the dues were addressed. Sunny's fortunes changed dramatically with Gadar 2, which released in 2023 and brought him back into the spotlight. The Anil Sharma directorial became one of the year's biggest Hindi hits. The success also helped Sunny navigate the financial difficulties he had spoken about. Despite the challenges, the actor said he never wanted to compromise on his personal choices simply for money. I cant do so many things for money. But to be very honest, Im very happy. Even when I was in debt, I was very happy. I was living my life, he said. Sunny is currently seen in his latest release, Batwara 1947, which hit theatres on August 14.
