He further praised the film for allowing its supporting characters to exist independently of the protagonist. The politician, the cop, the cousin, the juice shop friend none of them feel hired to decorate the star. They feel like people who would still be there whether the hero was there or not, he said. Excel Entertainment co-founder and producer Ritesh Sidhwani has opened up about the challenges of bringing Mirzapur from streaming to the big screen with Mirzapur: The Movie. The upcoming film marks the theatrical transition of the popular franchise and is set to bring its established characters and world to cinemas on September 4, 2026. With the series having already completed three seasons, one of the key challenges for the makers was creating a feature film that could offer something new to existing fans while also functioning as a standalone cinematic experience. During an interview, Sidhwani was asked what Mirzapur: The Movie could do in a theatre that the series could not, particularly given the challenge of fitting the franchises extensive story into a three-hour feature. Explaining the approach, he said, We are taking an IP created as a series and turning it into a feature film. We have seen the reverse happen many times, where films are turned into series. So, in a way, we are breaking the format again and trying something different. Mirzapur has a very loyal fan base, and we are giving those fans something new to experience in theatres. We are essentially saying, You already love these characters. Now come and experience them in a completely different way. Sidhwani further explained that the film does not attempt to compress the three seasons of the series into one theatrical outing. Instead, the makers developed an untold chapter set within the timeline of the first season. He said, The idea was to take an untold chapter from Season 1 (between two or three episodes) and bring it to the big screen. We also wanted to bring back beloved characters, including Munna Bhaiya and others who were no longer around by Season 3. The first challenge was to tell a story without affecting the narrative of the later seasons. Secondly, we had to ensure the film didn't feel like three stitched-together episodes of the series. It had to work as a film, with its own beginning, middle and end. It needed its own midpoint, emotional journey and payoff so that audiences could enjoy it as a complete story without affecting Season 4, which will follow. However, if anyone has not watched any season of the series, he/she would still be able to enjoy the film. The films theatrical format is being positioned as a new way for audiences to revisit the Mirzapur universe, while retaining its established characters and tone. The return of characters such as Munna Bhaiya has further added to the anticipation surrounding the film. Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. Actress Avika Gor has opened up about her experience on Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 15 days after her elimination from the stunt-based reality show. Reflecting on the experience, Avika said the show has changed the way she looks at life, fear, challenges and situations beyond her control. Taking to Instagram, the Balika Vadhu actor spoke about the difference between watching a stunt from the comfort of home and actually being in the middle of a high-pressure challenge. She admitted that she sometimes finds herself wondering whether she could have performed better had she been in the same situation. Theres something Ive realised about myself while watching Khatron Ke Khiladi after my elimination. I catch myself thinking, If I were there, I wouldnt have given up. I would have pushed harder. I would have done better. Basically, sitting comfortably on my sofa, suddenly Im an expert Khatron contestant. And then I remind myself: Im watching from the comfort of my own life. I know the outcome. I know what happens next. Im not actually in that moment, with the pressure, the fear, the adrenaline, and a stunt staring me in the face. She had previously participated in the ninth season at the age of 21. Comparing both experiences, she said the show had a different lesson for her this time. I went in thinking I was there to face fears and perform stunts, but I came out understanding myself a little differently. Coming back this time meant so much because, perhaps, a part of me wanted to meet that younger version of myself again and maybe finish something that had always felt unfinished. But this time, Khatron is teaching me something very different. Avika further reflected on accepting outcomes that cannot be changed. The first time, Khatron changed my perspective on who I was and what I wanted to become. This time, it is teaching me how to live with what I cannot control. He says, It was a very well-written script, which is rare to find. The script was like gold, something so good coming from Amita Vyas. But what really set this cop story apart from the other cop stories Ive done was that, while it is about a female cop, more importantly, it is about her as a person and as an individual. Babita has so many roles in her life- she is a wife, a daughter-in-law, and she has always put those roles ahead of her own professional ambitions and goals, choosing to think about herself later. What I found beautiful about her journey was watching her take that first step towards listening to herself and making decisions based on what she believes is right, irrespective of what others think. These may seem like small steps, but they are incredibly important because, with each one, she moves closer to understanding herself. That balance between wanting to find the truth and, in the process, finding yourself was what I found so powerful and beautiful about the story. But when Meghna Gulzar asks for a meeting, I presume any actor in this country would definitely meet her! Hence, I met her and prepared myself to very politely decline her offer. I am worried as a husband, as a friend to someone, as a responsible citizen of this country and yes, as a father as well. Unfortunately, as citizens, what can we do other than get worried and be hopeful? Yes, the film speaks about a very ugly truth within which society today exists, and we are all part of that society. Prithviraj added, I have an 11-year-old daughter. I am at that uncomfortable stage as a parent where now I have to start talking to her and letting her know about what is safe and what is unsafe. If we were to live in an ideal world, we would never have that conversation. But we do not live in an ideal world. But what can we do as citizens other than talking to our children? He continued, Make no mistake, the conversation should not just be with your girl children. It should be equally and vociferously with boys as well. I strongly feel that if theres an extra ounce of responsibility on any side, it is with us, the men. We are the ones who should carry the torch to make sure that this conversation is spoken about. Daayra is about two characters on opposite sides. On this, he opined, You really cant take a side. The side is just that of justice. We are having this conversation because theres a problem with the deliverance of justice. We are living in a system where the deliverance of justice is so cumbersome, so slow and so drawn out that it is humanly understandable that we sometimes lose hope in it. That needs to be addressed. In terms of justice, there are no two sides to it. He exulted, I just hope for a day and time when the deliverance of justice is faster, more coherent and does not come with years and years of waiting for it to arrive.
