Sidharth Malhotra has opened up about his experience of fatherhood, describing raising his daughter Saraayah as the most amazing experience of his life. The actor revealed that becoming a parent has brought a new sense of meaning, value and learning to his life, while also changing the way he looks at his priorities. Sidharth spoke about fatherhood at the IAA Leadership Awards 2026, where he was honoured with the Brand Endorser of the Year award. The Shershaah actor and his wife, actress Kiara Advani, welcomed their daughter Saraayah in July last year. Their daughter recently turned one, marking an important milestone for the couple. Reflecting on the experience, Sidharth said, We have been fortunate enough to be the parents of a young baby girl, who just turned one year old last month. It's been the most amazing experience of my life, and so many learnings. The actor also explained how watching his daughter grow has added a new dimension to his life. It adds so much more content to your life; it adds so much more value to what you do in this world that we live in. It is very tough to describe, he said. Sidharth further shared that he and Saraayah are discovering each other as she grows and develops her own personality. We are exploring each other every month, and I hope this wonderful relationship only flourishes, and I get to learn so much from my little daughter, he added. Talking about his approach to parenting, Sidharth compared raising a child to nurturing a plant. I am trying to be a good gardener so she can flourish into a wonderful human being, he said. Meanwhile, Sidharth continues to balance fatherhood with his busy professional schedule. He will next be seen in The Vvaan, co-starring Tamannaah Bhatia. The film, earlier scheduled for August 28, has been postponed to September to avoid a box-office clash with Yash-starrer Toxic. Punjabi singer and songwriter Guru Randhawa has expanded his humanitarian efforts to support families severely affected by the Assam floods. The singer has partnered with the Sikh Aid Foundation to contribute Rs 7 lakhs towards the construction of 35 permanent, flood-proof homes for affected families in Sivasagar, Jorhat and Nepali Khuti regions of Upper Assam. With the initiative, Randhawa has joined a growing group of public figures who have extended support to relief and rehabilitation efforts in Assam. Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Randeep Hooda, along with digital creators Fukra Insaan and Triggered Insaan, are also among those who have contributed to efforts aimed at assisting communities in some of the worst-hit areas. As anticipation builds around Mirzapur - The Movie, Rasika Dugal has opened up about the evolution of female characters in Indian storytelling and why she believes women should be written with the same complexity traditionally afforded to male characters. The actor, who reprises her role as the enigmatic Beena Tripathi, says the conversation around the strong female character trope needs to move towards portraying women as layered and deeply human individuals. Over the years, the rise of strong female characters has been widely celebrated as an important shift from the passive or ornamental roles women were often limited to on screen. However, Rasika believes that strength alone should not become the defining characteristic of female representation. Sharing her thoughts, Rasika Dugal said, For the longest time, we celebrated the arrival of the strong female character because it was a necessary correction to decades of women being written as passive or ornamental. But strength, by itself, cannot be the only defining trait of a woman. Real women are contradictory. They can be vulnerable one moment and strategic the next. They can be nurturing and fiercely ambitious, or deeply compassionate and capable of making morally questionable choices, all at the same time.I think it's interesting when women are allowed to exist in all their complexity. Rasika also explains that it was precisely this unpredictability that made Beena Tripathi an interesting character for her to portray. Beena has consistently operated within a complicated web of power, survival and personal choices, refusing to fit neatly into the conventional categories of victim or hero. She further added, What drew me to Beena is that she refuses to fit into a neat box. She's neither entirely a victim nor a conventional hero. She constantly adapts, negotiates power, makes difficult decisions, and often surprises both the audience and herself. She is trying to survive, to reclaim agency in whatever way she can. As an actor, I'm far more excited by characters who have contradictions, silences, insecurities, and uncomfortable truths. I hope we're moving towards a time where women on screen are no longer expected to carry the burden of representing an ideal and are simply allowed to be human. Revisiting Beena in Mirzapur The Movie has been incredibly rewarding because I feel the writing gives audiences the opportunity to see her beyond binaries. That's the kind of evolution actors wait for, she shared. With Mirzapur - The Movie taking the popular fictional universe to the big screen, Rasika's return as Beena Tripathi is expected to be one of the key elements for fans of the franchise. Siddharth is receiving attention for his portrayal of Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja in Netflixs Operation Safed Sagar. The actor has now opened up about the responsibility of portraying a real-life martyr, the extensive research behind the series and the support he received from Ahujas wife, Alka Ahuja, during his preparation for the role. Siddharth revealed that he was initially cautious about taking on the role, particularly because he has generally avoided portraying real-life heroes. However, the research that went into Operation Safed Sagar and the involvement of the Indian Air Force, pilots and their families gave him confidence in the project. I was chosen by the universe to play Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja. I have never played real-life heroes, except in Rang De Basanti where I played Shaheed Bhagat Singh. 20 years after playing a martyr, to be chosen to play Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, explains why I was destined to play, he said and mentioned that he usually does not like to play real-life heroes because of the way their lives are placed on commercial grounds. He went on to add, Having said that, I don't like to approach real-life heroes; usually in India, we take the lives of martyrs, and we commercialise them for our own benefit to make money. I was worried before I signed Safed Sagar that this should have the intent that previous films have shown in this regard. The actor eventually decided to come on board after learning about the extensive groundwork undertaken for the series. When they told me the entire research that had gone into the entire creation, six years of research, the complete blessing of the Indian Airforce and the personal accounts of real pilots, real heroes and their families, is what has gone into creating Operation Safed Sagar, he revealed. Siddharth also spoke about his experience of exploring Squadron Leader Ajay Ahujas life, both as an officer and as an individual. In terms of Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja's life, he was a very inspiring man in the face of war and in peacetime. I have tremendously enjoyed the privilege of being allowed to discover and explore his life, he added. For his preparation, Siddharth said he primarily relied on the military research provided to him to understand Ahujas professional journey in the Indian Air Force, including his association with the Golden Arrows and Squadron 17. He went on to share, Primarily, I have leaned only on the military research that was provided to me, which helps me to understand the beats that he had to follow when he was in the Indian Air Force and squadron leader of the Golden Arrows and Squadron 17. A significant part of his preparation came from Alka Ahuja, who not only gave him permission to portray her husband but also shared something deeply personal with the actor. More importantly, his wife, Alka Ahuja, gave me not just the permission to play Ahuja sir but also gave me the spiritual understanding and strength I needed to wear his uniform and his shoes, he shared. Siddharth recalled writing to Alka during his preparation and asking whether she had any personal recordings or belongings of the late officer that could help him understand him better. I am happy to share that I wrote to her when I started the preparation for the performance. I asked her, 'Ma'am, can you send me any video or audio recordings? I know it was not common in 99 and before to have audio and video recordings of our lives the way it is today. I am sure today's youngsters can't even imagine a different time from what it is today. I also asked her if she could give me any personal artefacts, maybe shoelaces or a handkerchief. Alkas response and the item she eventually sent became an important moment for Siddharth and the team. She wrote back to me saying, I don't have any audio or video recordings, but whatever you create in Safed Sagar will be my memories of him going forward. That broke the entire team and me for days. Alka Ma'am went a step further and sent me his flying patches known as Wings. Pilots consider them an extension of themselves. The wings are the badges you wear as an Airforce pilot. It is considered an extension of a pilot's soul. That's what she sent me to wear through the show. Filmmaker Karan Johar marked 20 years of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna on Monday, August 10, by revisiting some of the unusual and often uncomfortable reactions he encountered around the film's release. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta, the 2006 film explored marriage, infidelity, loneliness and relationships, subjects that sparked considerable debate among audiences. Taking to social media on the eve of the anniversary, Karan shared a long note recalling what happened when he quietly attended a paid preview of the film before its theatrical release. He remembered sitting behind a traditionally dressed middle-aged couple who appeared increasingly uncomfortable during the sequence involving Dev (Khan) and Maya (Mukerji) in a hotel elevator. Recalling the couple's reaction, Karan wrote, At one point in the film, Dev and Maya enter the elevator of a hotel and what proceeds is the two characters succumbing to their love and desire. At that point Lady Saree looked at Sir Kurta in shock and dropped her popcorn. He turned back and said (in Gujarati) - Dream sequence che! According to Karan, the man eventually realised that the sequence was not a dream and decided to leave the theatre with his wife. The filmmaker said the incident left him worried about how the film would be received. However, another encounter outside the theatre left an even stronger impression on him. Karan recalled meeting a woman accompanied by her daughter, who questioned him about the film. She said, I took my daughter to see a happy film with songs and dances and family values because its YOUR film. The DAY she got her DIVORCE and this is what I saw!! Shame on you, he wrote. Karan admitted that Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna received hugely polarising reviews and audience feedback, with reactions ranging from calling it brave and his best work to accusing the film of going against traditional values. I dont deny the flaws of the film It was over bloated in scale and had opulent (and some unnecessary) songs to pander to my understanding of the mainstream but I always felt it had its heart in the right place, he wrote. The filmmaker also clarified his intention behind portraying extramarital relationships in the film. The film did not endorse infidelity (that was never ever my intention) but it did show that stepping out of the boundary of marriage to seek love or desire can destroy your very foundation and family, Karan stated. He further noted that the film was meant to present a complicated reality rather than offer straightforward answers about relationships. According to him, every relationship and circumstance is different, and cinema can encourage audiences to think about those complexities. Karan observed that several people have told him over the years that they could not relate to Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna when it released but understand it differently today. Reflecting on that shift, he wrote, 20 years later, I meet many people who tell me they couldnt relate to it then but understand it better todayPerhaps life itself gives us answers we never ever wanted to question.
