Duleep Trophy Goes Back To Zonal Format, Indias Schedule Announced For White-ball Series Against NZ

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: After a meeting on Saturday, the Apex Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the 2025/26 domestic will begin with the Duleep Trophy on August 28 and conclude with the Senior Womens Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy on April 3, 2026. As per changes announced by the Apex Council, the Duleep Trophy and Senior Womens Challenger tournaments will now be contested between six zonal teams selected by zonal selectors. The format is a departure from the last time when the national selection committee picked the squads, and for the upcoming season, teams will be picked by the Zonal Selection Committee as per the previous tradition. The Apex Council also said the Plate Group restructuring has been introduced across age categories. As per this, the bottom 6 teams (based on the previous seasons rankings) will be placed in the plate group for limited-overs tournaments, adding that only one team will be promoted/relegated between Elite and Plate groups going forward. In the 2025/26 domestic schedule, the prestigious Ranji Trophy will continue to be held in two phases. The first phase of the tournament will begin on October 15 and run till November 19, while the second phase begins on January 22. Regarding the tournament updates, the Apex Council said the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Womens T20 Trophy will now include a Super League stage instead of a traditional knockout. In this, each team will play three games in the league, following which the top team from Groups A and B will feature in the final. As far as new tournament grouping formats are concerned, major tournaments such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Senior Womens One Day Trophy, and Mens U23 State A Trophy will follow a four Elite Groups + one Plate Group model. On the other hand, most junior and womens tournaments (U16, U19, U23) have been moved to a five Elite + one Plate group structure. Meanwhile, the BCCI Apex Council has also approved the venues for Indias upcoming white-ball home series against New Zealand, scheduled to be held in early 2026. Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore will host ODIs on January 11, 14 and 18, respectively. Nagpur, Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram are the hosts for the five T20Is to be held from January 21 to 31. The five T20I matches will serve as vital preparation games for India and New Zealand ahead of the 2026 Mens T20 World Cup, to be played in India and Sri Lanka. Ranji Trophy Groups for 2025-26 season Elite A: Tamil Nadu, Baroda, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra, Nagaland Elite B: Saurashtra, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Goa Elite C: Gujarat, Haryana, Services, Bengal, Railways, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Assam Elite D: Mumbai, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Puducherry Plate: Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Arunachal India vs New Zealand mens white-ball series schedule: ODIs: - Vadodara (January 11), Rajkot (January 14) and Indore (January 18) India vs New Zealand mens white-ball series schedule: Also Read: LIVE Cricket Score Article Source: IANS

Dont think there is a goldmine: SC warns petitioner over repeated pleas against Ambanis Z+ security cover

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday criticised the petitioner for repeatedly challenging the Z+ security cover provided to Reliance Industries Chairman and billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani and his family. The application, filed by one Bikash Saha, sought a direction from the top court to revoke the Z+ security cover given to Ambani and his family members. The top court not only dismissed Shah's plea but also warned him of imposing exemplary costs if he continued to pursue this matter or file similar petitions in the future. The applicant (Bikash Shah) has no locus standi to challenge the security provided by the State after duly evaluating the threat inputs, and we warned that any further proceedings will lead to the Court imposing exemplary costs on him, said, a two-judge vacation bench of the top court, headed by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan. While passing the order on Friday, the apex court bench reiterated that the Z+ security cover provided to Mukesh Ambani, his wife Neeta Ambani and children Anant, Aakash and Isha should continue to be given. Rjecting Saha's plea, the top court observed, is it the Supreme Court to decide who is to be given what security? This is something new which has popped up. New genre of jurisprudence. Is this our domain?. Coming down heavily on Saha, the court further added, Who are you to decide the threat perception? Government of India will decide that, no? Tomorrow, if some mishap happens, will you take responsibility? Or will the Court take responsibility for it? Don't do this, this is very serious and we are warning you. Don't think there is a goldmine to be snatched over here and we are not here to facilitate your process, the court opined. During the course of the hearing, senior advocate and former Attorney General (AG) of India, Mukul Rohatgi, for Mukesh Ambani and his family, objected to the plea. The security is granted by the government, considering the threat perception. This gentleman (Saha) has nothing to do with it, he said. Rohatgi further added that Saha had first filed a PIL in Tripura against the security which we get from the Government of India, for which we pay. That matter came here, the Union brought it here, the Supreme Court passed strictures saying he has no business in doing all this, and the order of the Tripura High Court was set aside.

Politics not a business, but service: Dattatreya

HYDERABAD: In a rare display of cross-party camaraderie, a host of political heavyweights and dignitaries gathered in the city on Sunday for the release of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreyas autobiography, Prajala Kathe Naa Atmakatha (The Peoples Story is My Autobiography). Speaking at the event, the Haryana Governor stated: Politics is neither a profession nor a business. It is selfless service to society. Politicians must stay rooted while upholding moral and ethical values. Recalling his time in the Sangh, Dattatreya, who represented Secunderabad multiple times in the Lok Sabha while in the BJP, said, The RSS is my life, my soul, my everything. The book release saw the presence of a distinguished line-up of leaders, including former president Ram Nath Kovind, former vice president M Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and several Governors from across the country. In a lighter vein, CM Revanth likened the gathering to a parade of Governors and quipped that he could even convene a Cabinet meeting given the ministerial presence. Sharing an anecdote from a NITI Aayog meeting, Revanth recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointing at Chandrababu Naidu and saying, Your friend is here. To which Revanth replied, Sir, I did my schooling with you and my college with Chandrababu Naidu. My current job is with Rahul Gandhi! The audience erupted in laughter. Revanth recalled how Dattatreya would sign stacks of letters recommending train tickets and essential services, reflecting his accessibility. He praised the Haryana Governors journey from the narrow lanes of Gowliguda to the high constitutional office, noting, Despite holding several key positions, Dattatreya never distanced himself from the common people. Former president Kovind praised Dattatreyas humility and work ethic, while AP Chief Minister Naidu hailed him as a secular, people-first leader who promoted inclusive initiatives like Alai Balai. He is a true gentleman in politics, Naidu said. Former vice president Venkaiah Naidu used the occasion to call for a restoration of civility in public discourse. Abusive language is polluting politics. People must teach such leaders a lesson at the ballot box, he said. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Tripura Governor N Indrasena Reddy, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and AP Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav also attended the event.
