EAC seeks report on Rayalaseema lift irrigaton scheme from Andhra Pradesh
HYDERABAD: The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) has recommended that the Andhra Pradesh government submit a comprehensive report detailing the restoration efforts for the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS). The report must include photographic evidence, restoration methods and a timeline of activities. This recommendation follows a case brought before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in Govinolla Srinivas vs Union of India. According to a statement from the office of Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the EACs 25th meeting, held virtually on February 27, discussed the issue and agreed with the concerns raised by Telangana. During the meeting, it was suggested that the project proponent submit an affidavit with the Environmental Clearance (EC) application. This affidavit, to be authorised by a competent authority, must confirm that no work has been carried out beyond the preparation of the Detailed Project Report. Authorities have been warned that any false or misleading information could result in legal action under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
BRS MLA Harish blames Telangana Congress for Andhra Pradesh drawing excess Krishna water
HYDERABAD: BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government diverted Krishna waters after Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy met AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. In an informal interaction with reporters at the Assembly, Harish held the Congress responsible for the injustice to Telangana in sharing Krishna waters. When the Congress was in power in undivided Andhra Pradesh, it did not construct projects in Telangana. Due to this, after the formation of Telangana, the Union government, on an interim basis, allocated only 299 tmcft, out of the 811 tmcft available in the Krishna, to Telangana. Due to the negligence of the Congress, Telangana has been losing its due share of Krishna water, the former minister alleged. He further alleged that in undivided Andhra Pradesh, while Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy opposed the Pothireddypadu project, Uttam remained silent as he was eyeing posts and positions. Harish accused the Telangana government of not restraining the AP government from constructing projects. He said that the previous government secured stay orders from courts on the Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme. The Congress government is cooperating with the AP government to withdraw excess water from Krishna. Uttam has betrayed the people of Telangana. Due to the negligence of Uttam Kumar Reddy, crops are withering in the state, Harish alleged.
BRS surrendered Krishna river water rights to Andhra Pradesh: Telangana minister Uttam
HYDERABAD: Emphasising his deep connection to the Krishna river as a seven-time legislator from the Krishna Basin, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday stated that the state government has ensured the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) curtails Andhra Pradeshs excessive use of Krishna waters. He criticised the previous BRS government for not challenging the unfair water allocation, accusing it of settling for 299 tmcft while allowing AP to withdraw 512 tmcft for a decade. Intervening in the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governors Address in the Assembly, Uttam accused the BRS regime of surrendering Telanganas water rights to AP and failing to prevent illegal withdrawals. He urged BRS leaders to avoid criticism for the sake of opposition. The minister also held the previous government responsible for enabling Andhra Pradesh to proceed with tenders for the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS) by delaying the Apex Council meeting, which could have challenged the project. Despite blatant violations, the BRS government remained passive, failing to approach the Supreme Court or KWDT-II (Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal) to contest APs illegal withdrawals, Uttam alleged. He added that the Congress government is now taking corrective measures, including installing telemetry instruments at Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam dams to monitor water levels and prevent unauthorised diversions by AP. Drawing from his personal experience as a six-time MLA and former MP representing the Krishna Basin, Uttam reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Telanganas water rights. Unlike the previous government, we have reopened the Krishna water dispute and will fight to secure justice for Telangana, he asserted.
Two TDP men murdered in Kurnool, Chittoor
KURNOOL/CHITTOOR: Two shocking murders of TDP leaders over the weekend have sparked political tensions and public outrage in Kurnool and Chittoor districts. On Friday night, 55-year-old Kasepogu Sanjanna, a former corporator from Sharin Nagar, Kurnool, was ambushed and killed by rivals while walking home after attending a ritual at a nearby Dharga. Sanjanna, a prominent figure in politics, had previously been with CPM and YSRCP before switching to TDP in 2024 due to differences with former MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy. Sanjanna had ongoing disputes with rowdy sheeter Vadde Ramanjaneyulu. Following the attack, Sanjanna was rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital, where he was declared dead. TDP supporters gathered at the hospital, and tensions escalated when they pelted stones at Vadde Anjis vehicle. The police have initiated a manhunt for the suspects. In a separate incident on Saturday in Chittoor, 55-year-old TDP activist Ramakrishna from Krishnapuram village was hacked to death by former village volunteer Venkataramana. Ramakrishnas son, Suresh, was severely injured in the attack, which occurred as they were heading to their farm. The assailant reportedly used a sickle. Police suspect the murder is politically motivated, linked to ongoing land disputes and rivalry with YSRCP-aligned figures. An investigation has been launched, and Punganur CI Srinivasulu and Head Constable Subramanyam were suspended for their negligence in responding to the situation. Investigations in both the cases are ongoing.
SSA officials shock-proof Polymer Pump a boon to farmers
VIZIANAGARAM: Dr A Rama Rao, Additional Project Coordinator of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Vizianagaram, has been granted a 20-year patent by the Intellectual Property of India for his Polymer Pulley Driven Centrifugal Pump. He conducted extensive research on the design, development, and performance evaluation of a polymer-cast centrifugal pump at Dr NTR College of Agricultural Engineering under Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University for the past ten years. Vizianagaram District Collector BR Ambedkar and SSA State officials congratulated Ramarao and his team on securing the patent and encouraged them to commence large-scale manufacturing of the pumps for agricultural, domestic, and industrial applications. Rama Rao, a native of Konisa village in Gajapathinagaram mandal, previously served as an assistant professor at the College of Horticulture, Parvathipuram, under Dr YSR Horticulture University. He did his PhD on polymer-cast centrifugal pumps in 2017. The idea for the innovation stemmed from electrocution of farmers while operating centrifugal pumps. Determined to develop a lightweight, cost-effective, corrosion-resistant, and electric shock-proof pump, he embarked on his research in 2013. As part of his study, Rama Rao and his team selected a 5.7 kg cast iron pump worth Rs 1,200 and analysed over 400 types of plastics with mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties comparable to cast iron. They identified seven engineering plastics capable of replacing iron in centrifugal pumps and ultimately selected three: cast nylon, Delrin, and UHMWF. With assistance from the Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad, they designed and fabricated the polymer-based pump. Further collaboration with the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology facilitated the mold development and fabrication. The team then simulated the pumps performance using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and conducted 310 hours of field testing at Dr NTR College of Agricultural Engineering, Palakollu and Rajahmundry. The results demonstrated that the polymer pump achieved discharge, pressure, and velocity levels equivalent to those of metal pumps while significantly reducing weight by 70% and cost by 60%. The pump also exhibited zero corrosion and consumed less electrical power. In 2018, Rama Rao and his team filed a patent application for their polymer pump with the Intellectual Property Government of India. He received his patent on March 4. Speaking to TNIE , he said, I come from an agricultural family, so I understand the challenges of buying and operating motor pumps for both agricultural and domestic purposes. I was disturbed by media reports of farmers dying from electric shocks while using pumps. That motivated me to develop an electric shock-proof, low-cost, and corrosion-free motor pump. Additionally, the pump consumes less electrical power and has increased durability compared to cast iron pumps. I hope this invention helps farmers by lowering input costs and preventing fatalities due to electric shocks. With this patent, Rama Raos innovation holds the potential to revolutionise the use of centrifugal pumps in various sectors, making them safer, cheap and efficient.
AP govt expresses readiness to set up small nuclear power plants
VIJAYAWADA/SRIKAKULAM: The Andhra Pradesh government has expressed its readiness to establish small nuclear power plants in the State, citing their cost-effectiveness. During a brief discussion on the Energy Sector in the State Assembly on Thursday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the States willingness to exploring future technologies like small nuclear power plants. Mentioning the Kovvada nuclear power plant, Naidu felt that opting for one or two small units would be more practical than big ones. He revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently discussed this matter with him. The State government is also contemplating a joint venture with NTPC in this regard. Recently, NTPC, which identified several potential locations across India for small nuclear power plants, including one near Anakapalle in Andhra Pradesh, submitted a proposal to the State government. The nuclear power plant at Kovvada was envisaged to generate 6,600 megawatt of power through six reactors, which would be constructed and commissioned in a phased manner. The project was first conceptualised in 1990 at the coastal village of Kovvada in Srikakulam district, but remained dormant until 2009. Between 2009 and 2012, the government revived its interest, conducting detailed surveys and feasibility studies to assess the project viability. In November 2012, the State issued GO No. 42, authorising the acquisition of 1,916 acres of land for the nuclear power plant. Of the total, 1,300 acres are classified as government-owned land, while the remaining 616 acres fall under Zeroyati land. Compensation was paid under the R&R package to 1,863 affected families, except for two. The payment of compensation for land is pending to 21 people as they only have occupational rights on the land, Ranastalam Tahasildar Nandigam Prasada Rao told TNIE.

Tirupati stampede: Panel examines queue system
TIRUMALA: Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, M Satyanarayana Murthy, visited the Tirumala shrine to investigate the queue management system, following a tragic stampede in Tirupati that claimed the lives of six devotees. The incident, which occurred in a small park at Bairagi Patteda, raised concerns among intellectuals and devotees about the effectiveness of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) queue system and the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan process. In response to the tragedy, the Commission of Inquiry undertook a review of the existing queue arrangements to assess both permanent and procedural systems that handle the daily influx of at least 80,000 devotees. The goal is to ensure the safety and satisfaction of pilgrims without undue hardship. During his visit, Murthy sought detailed insights into how the TTD manages pilgrim intake into the queue system. The staff at the Vaikuntam Queue Complex briefed him on the entry process, which is based on time slots, tickets, or tokens. The Commission also inspected newly constructed queue lines at Narayanagiri Garden, noting the automated segregation process, where devotees are directed to their designated queues without manual intervention. The inquiry is primarily focused on improving crowd management and ensuring the safety and comfort of devotees. As part of this probe, the panel has scheduled two additional visits to Tirumala on March 17 and 18. The TTD executive officer, along with the Tirupati Collector and SP, have been summoned to appear before the Commission during this phase of the inquiry.

Six years on, former minister Vivekanandas daughter seeks justice for his murder
KADAPA: Sunitha Reddy, daughter of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, expressed her deep anguish over the lack of justice in her fathers murder case, which remains unresolved even after six years. Marking his sixth death anniversary, she, along with her husband N Rajasekhar Reddy, Vivekas brother-in-law N Shivaprakash Reddy, and other family members, paid homage and offered special prayers at his memorial in Pulivendula on Saturday. Speaking to the media, Sunitha Reddy voiced her frustration over the stalled investigation and the failure to initiate the trial. It has been six years, and despite our relentless fight, justice remains elusive. While the accused are freely roaming outside, we are the ones suffering the punishment, she lamented. She raised serious concerns about the mysterious deaths of key witnesses, emphasising that it is the governments responsibility to ensure their safety. If a leader like YS Vivekananda Reddy cannot get justice, how can common people expect fairness? The investigation was flawed, and the accused seem to know how to manipulate the system to their advantage, she alleged. Sunitha Reddy urged the CBI to restart the probe and expressed hope that the courts would take decisive action. She also called upon the State government to protect both witnesses and victims.
Guntur Mayor Kavati Naidu quits, alleges political humiliation
GUNTUR: Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu resigned, citing severe humiliation by the coalition government. At a press conference, he revealed that his chamber was locked and the standing committee was formed without his involvement. He accused TDP leaders of purchasing corporators and threatening them. Naidu also alleged that the commissioner deliberately sidelined him in key decisions, worsening tensions. Both the mayor and the municipal commissioner traded corruption allegations, deepening the crisis. Naidu stated that officials scheduled a standing committee meeting on the 17th without informing him, despite his role as chairman. It is my duty to decide the agenda, but they are proceeding without me. Officials even engage in theatrics when I attempt to acces s my chamber, he lamented. He also claimed no other mayor in Gunturs history had faced such humiliation. They are trying to file cases against me. I became mayor thanks to former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddys grace. We will not remain silent if they attempt to rename PVK vegetable market, he warned.
Branded liquor sales drop 99 per cent in five years
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradeshs liquor revenue gap with Telangana surged from Rs 4,186.70 crore to Rs 42,762.15 crore over five years due to the previous YSRCP regimes policy failure, the State government claimed on Saturday. According to a note tabled in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Scams during 2019-24, reduced legal liquor availability reportedly increased the prevalence of illicit liquor, resulting in significant losses to the State Exchequer. The report stated that the previous government made misleading promises about liquor prohibition but failed to implement effective measures. After promising to phase out liquor outlets and restrict sales to five-star hotels, the government reduced the number of liquor shops from 4,380 to 2,934 in 2020. However, the count later increased to 3,392 with the addition of 459 Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) shops. Regarding bars, the report noted that all 840 bars operating in 2019 remained functional. The previous governments prohibition pledge allegedly resulted in personal profiteering, increased crime, black market activities, and public health concerns due to inadequate liquor regulation. The report highlighted that maximum retail price (MRP) hikes of up to 75%, intended to reduce alcohol consumption, had backfired. The policy missteps reportedly led to a 66% increase in non-duty paid liquor, a 64% rise in crime, a 161% surge in arrests, and worsening public health conditions. New players seised production through intimidation, while multinational corporations (MNCs) faced delayed payments and order cancellations. Transparent procurement (2014-19) was replaced by discretionary methods that benefited select players. Supply chains were monopolized to favour certain brands, excluding MNCs, the report stated. The report further revealed that affordable liquor options had dwindled from 31 brands before 2019 to just two, resulting in a 99.97% drop in legal sales and an increase in illicit consumption. Between 2019 and 2024, 60% of the States 20 IMFL (Indian-Made Foreign Liquor) distilleries reportedly shifted to subleases. New entrants including Adan, Graysons, Leela, JR Associates, and PV Spirits operated at 2,000 lakh proof litres, generating Rs 20,356 crore in sales. Automated procurement systems were abandoned in favour of manual selection, benefiting 38 new brands from seven firms, which reportedly earned Rs 15,843 crore. The report also claimed that liquor and beer supply orders were linked to extortion, with an estimated Rs 3,113 crore collected illicitly over five years. Additionally, 99.38% of the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limiteds (APSBCL) Rs 99,413.5 crore liquor sales were conducted in cash, leaving no digital trail of transactions. The report highlighted that Rs 13,148.82 crore was raised through high-interest non-convertible debentures.
I never opposed Hindi as a language, says Dy CM Pawan Kalyan
VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena Party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan asserted that both imposing a language forcibly and opposing a language blindly do not contribute to achieving national and cultural integration. His remarks followed criticism from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders over his statements on the National Education Policy (NEP) and the alleged imposition of Hindi. Clarifying his stance, Pawan Kalyan asserted that while he never opposed Hindi as a language, he firmly opposed making it compulsory. When the NEP 2020 itself does not enforce Hindi, spreading false narratives about its imposition is nothing but an attempt to mislead the public, he said. Taking to social media platform X on Saturday, Pawan Kalyan wrote, As per NEP 2020, students have the flexibility to learn any two Indian languages (including their mother tongue) along with a foreign language. If they do not wish to study Hindi, they can opt for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Assamese, Kashmiri, Odia, Bengali, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Meitei, Nepali, Santali, Urdu, or any other Indian language. He further emphasised that the multi-language policy is designed to empower students with choice, promote national unity, and preserve Indias rich linguistic diversity. Misinterpreting this policy for political agendas and claiming that Pawan Kalyan changed his stance only reflects a lack of understanding. Jana Sena Party firmly stands by the principle of linguistic freedom and educational choice for every Indian, he said.

YSRCP left 85l tonnes of garbage as legacy, says CM Chandrababu Naidu
TANUKU (WEST GODAVARI): Asserting that his government accords top priority to the welfare of citizens and the development of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu squarely blamed the previous YSRCP regime for widespread devastation in every sector of the state. Addressing a large gathering at the Swarnandhra - Swachhandhra programme at Tanuku on Saturday, Naidu painted a stark contrast between his proactive governance, and what he described as the YSRCPs ruinous five-year tenure, which he claimed saddled the state with a staggering debt of Rs 10 lakh crore. Naidu minced no words in his critique, accusing the YSRCP of looting the states resources, suppressing free speech, and leaving behind a legacy of neglect and mismanagement. They imposed taxes on garbage, stamped their pictures on land ownership documents, and introduced the Land Titling Act to seize lakhs of acres of private land, he charged. He alleged that the previous rulers tampered with records, placed private properties under Section 22A, and turned Andhra Pradesh into the lowest per capita income state in south India a sharp fall from its past glory under his earlier leadership. For five years, they hid behind curtains, cut trees for helicopter landings and left 85 lakh metric tonnes of garbage as their parting gift, Naidu said, describing his government as a corrective force. Criticising the previous administration for inaction, Naidu said, They didnt move a handful of soil in five years, leaving us with 85 lakh metric tonnes of garbage as a legacy. He urged citizens to commit to the cause, emphasising collective responsibility. Naidu lauded Tanuku MLA A Radha Krishna and pledged funds, reinforcing grassroots ties with sanitation workers.

Never opposed Hindi as language: Pawan Kalyan amid row over 'Tamil movie dub' remark
Amid growing tensions over his comment about Tamil movies being dubbed in Hindi, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan issued a clarification on Saturday, stating that he ever opposed the Hindi language. The JSP leader said neither forcibly imposing a language nor blindly opposing one helps achieve national and cultural integration. He asserted that he had ever opposed Hindi as a language but only opposed making it compulsory. Either imposing a language forcibly or opposing it blindly; both don't help achieve the objective of national and cultural integration in our Bharat (sic), said Janasena chief in a post on 'X'. , Pawan Kalyan (@PawanKalyan) March 15, 2025 He said that since the National Education Policy 2020 does not mandate Hindi, spreading false narratives about its imposition is merely an attempt to mislead the public. When the NEP-2020 itself does not make Hindi compulsory, then making false statements about its implementation is nothing but misleading the public, he wrote in Hindi in his X post. He further explained that under the NEP, students have an option to learn any two Indian languages (including their mother tongue) along with a foreign language. If they don't want to study Hindi, they can choose Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Assamese, Kashmiri, Odia, Bengali, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Meitei, Nepali, Santhali, Urdu or any other Indian language, he added. Kalyan said that the purpose of the multilingual (three-language) policy is to provide a wider range of choice to students, promoting national integration and preserving the country's rich linguistic diversity. Misinterpreting this policy for a political agenda and claiming that I have changed my stand on it only shows a lack of mutual understanding. Additionally, he reiterated that Janasena firmly upholds the principle of linguistic freedom and educational choice for every Indian. On Friday, Pawan Kalyan's comments on the Hindi language have sparked widespread criticism from both the opposition and social media users. Speaking at the Jana Sena formation day, Pawan Kalyan raised concerns about what he perceived as a contradiction in Tamil Nadu's stance on Hindi. Tamil Nadu continuously rejects Hindi, stating that they do not want it. However, a thought crossed my mindif that is the case, why do they dub Tamil films in Hindi? They seek revenue from Hindi-speaking states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh and rely on workers from Bihar. Yet, they claim to despise Hindi. How is this fair? he questioned. He further stated, Is India a piece of cake to be divided whenever someone is displeased? If anyone attempts to undermine the integrity of India, there are crores of people like me who will rise to protect it. DMK rejects Pawan Kalyans remarks on language row, calls it a hollow understanding of policy
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Saturday responded to remarks by actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan regarding the ongoing language debate . The Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister had questioned Tamil Nadu politicians' stance on Hindi, asking why they opposed its imposition while allowing Tamil films to be dubbed into Hindi for commercial purposes. DMK spokesperson Dr. Syed Hafeezullah countered Kalyan's statement, describing it as a hollow understanding of Tamil Nadu's stance on linguistic policies. He clarified that Tamil Nadu has never opposed individuals learning Hindi or any other language but stands against the imposition of Hindi or any language on its people. Speaking at Jana Sena formation day, Pawan Kalyan raised concerns over what he perceived as a contradiction in Tamil Nadu's stance. Tamil Nadu continuously rejects Hindi, stating that they do not want it. However, a thought crossed my mindif that is the case, then why do they dub Tamil films in Hindi? They seek money from Hindi-speaking states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, and they rely on workers from Bihar. Yet, they claim to despise Hindi. How is this fair? he said. Reflecting on his own experiences, Kalyan shared that he had faced discrimination while studying in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, adding a personal dimension to his comments. He asked, Is India a piece of cake to be divided whenever someone gets angry? If anyone attempts to undermine the integrity of India, there are crores of people like me who will rise to protect it. Adding to the response, senior DMK leader TKS Elangovan reiterated Tamil Nadus longstanding opposition to Hindi imposition, stating, We have been opposing Hindi since 1938... We passed legislation in the state assembly that Tamil Nadu will always follow the two-language formula based on the advice and suggestions of education experts, not actors. The bill was passed way back in 1968, when Pawan Kalyan was not even born. He doesnt know the politics of Tamil Nadu. This is not the first time we have opposed Hindi because we believe education in the mother tongue is the best way to train people. Mr. Elangovan further alleged that Pawan Kalyans remarks were politically motivated, stating, He wants to somehow support the BJP so that he can gain something out of the BJP government. #WATCH | Chennai, Tamil Nadu: On the statement of Andhra Pradesh DCM Pawan Kalyan, DMK leader TKS Elangovan says, We have been opposing Hindi since 1938...We had passed legislation in the state assembly that Tamil Nadu will always follow the two-language formula because of the pic.twitter.com/bHvjKZgDF1 ANI (@ANI) March 15, 2025 Meanwhile, BJP leader Vikram Randhawa backed Pawan Kalyans remarks and asserted that Hindi is the national language, emphasizing the government's efforts to promote it across the country. He alleged that previous governments had attempted to suppress the culture of nationalism and insisted that the use of Hindi should be strongly implemented in southern India. Echoing Kalyans sentiment, he remarked, People living in South India should think that they are earning crores of rupees from North India by dubbing movies in Hindi, but when it comes to speaking and teaching Hindi, they have problems. Kalyan's remarks follow Tamil Nadu CM Stalin's comments on March 13, in which he labelled the NEP as a saffronized policy designed to promote Hindi rather than develop India. He alleged that the policy threatens to destroy Tamil Nadu's education system. National Education Policy is not education policy, it is saffronise policy. The policy was not created to develop India but to develop Hindi. We are opposing the Policy as that would destroy the Tamil Nadu education system completely, Stalin said in Tiruvallur. Stalin further accused the central government of withholding funds to pressure the state into implementing the NEP. We are asking for your tax share, which we paid with our efforts. What is the problem with this? Is it fair to threaten without releasing funds for the welfare of 43 lakh schools? As we didn't accept NEP, they are refusing to release funds that belong to Tamil Nadu, he said. We would have welcomed the scheme if it brought everyone into education. But is NEP like that? NEP has all the factors that remove people from education. This is how this policy is, and that's why we are opposing it, he added. (With inputs from ANI)

Will groom 100 young changemakers to lead India: Pawan Kalyans Vision 2047
VIJAYAWADA/ KAKINADA: Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modis slogan Viksit Bharat by 2047, and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidus vision of Swarna Andhra by 2047, Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan set his own goal. I aim to nurture 100 youths from each village in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ensuring that at least 100 capable leaders guide the country in the right direction by 2047, said Pawan Kalyan during his powerful speech at the 12th JSP Foundation Day celebrations at Chitrada in Pithapuram Assembly constituency on Friday. Addressing the huge gathering of the grand event Jaya Ketanam, he asserted that the party had taken crucial steps toward success after electoral losses in the past. The meeting drew over five lakh Janasainiks and JSP supporters from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. We stood firm. We stood by the party. We stood by the TDP. When we lost in 2019, they grew arrogant. The previous rulers insulted our women, harassed the people, and sentenced those who questioned them. Brave women who demanded justice were jailed. Even a leader with four decades of experience was imprisoned. Many conspiracies were hatched to suppress me. They tried to keep me away, even from the Assembly gates. But we did not back down. Today, we have entered the Assembly with 21 MLAs, and Parliament with 2 MPs, achieving a 100% strike rate because we are fearless, he declared. My political ideology is clear, not confused Reflecting on his journey, Pawan Kalyan credited his political entry to cinema, but stressed that films are only a tool for a larger mission. He revealed that revolutionary singer Gaddar encouraged him after watching his movie Khushi, while Central University Professor Sripati Ramulu influenced his ideology. My aspiration is always to live like an average middle-class man. I was raised like Meena in Chanti film. No one expected my transition to politics from films. My father wanted me to complete my degree, and become an SI. Our family was always cautious about stepping outside, fearing the unknown, he said. Pawan Kalyan attributed the JSPs political success to its seven guiding principles, which he formulated after deep contemplation. Running the party for a decade is a sacrifice. But this victory is fulfilling. I entered politics not for votes, but for a societal change. My ideology is about unity among diverse people, he asserted. Mentioning misconceptions about his political ideology, Pawan Kalyan said, Some say I am confused regarding my ideology. I was inspired by Che Guevara for his humanitarian values, but I have followed Sanatana Dharma since childhood. My home used to echoe with the chant of Lord Sri Ram. The JSP chief explained that his partys ideology was shaped by the speeches of seven influential leaders from around the world. Urging young leaders to rise, Pawan Kalyan warned against the corrupt political practices of using power for personal gain. We cannot ignore history, where 450 people sacrificed their lives for their beliefs, power should be used to uplift people, not for violence and looting. We will not divide castes or exploit communities for personal gain. We have struggled hard to reach this stage, and that should be understood. If we want a strong nation, we need strong individuals. The country will only change when young leaders stand for its future. This is the time to lead. Sanatana Dharma is in my blood, I dont need to prove it, he averred. On Tamil Nadu leaders stiff opposition to the three-language formula of the National Education Policy, Pawan Kalyan asked them not to dub Tamil films into Hindi merely to earn revenue from Hindi-speaking States like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, when they are raising a hue and cry over imposition of Hindi. You need money and workforce from Hindi-speaking States, but oppose Hindi itself. That is not acceptable. All languages are essential for communication and fostering brotherhood, he observed. Not just for Tamil Nadu but for the entire country, we need multiple languages. Not just for the integrity of the country, but also to understand one another and share love, multiple languages are good for India, he said. Pawan Kalyan reaffirmed his deep connection to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, calling Telangana the birthplace of JSP, and Andhra Pradesh his Karmabhoomi, and stressed the power of linguistic and cultural unity. He questioned pseudo secularism and asked the people to follow true secularism. True secularism should be applied with the true spirit, not for dam convenient vote bank politics. Jana Sena is not for that, he asserted. He thanked the TDP and BJP leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh for their greetings on the occasion of the 12th Formation Day of the JSP. All eligible for welfare schemes will get welfare benefits without any bias: CM Chandrababu Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that the NDA government will implement the welfare schemes without any discrimination, and all the eligible people will get the benefits irrespective of their political affiliations. Holding a teleconference with TDP Ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs on Friday, Naidu said TDP activists should not develop any rapport with YSRCP leaders. My intention is that all the eligible people should get the welfare schemes. But TDP activists should not develop any rapport with YSRCP leaders. I am clear on it. But YSRCP leaders have twisted the fact, and resorted to a false propaganda that I stated that not to extend welfare schemes to those who voted to the YSRCP, the TDP supremo explained. Mentioning that the exercise to fill nominated posts is going on, Naidu said some TDP leaders are delaying the process without submitting their recommendations. Only the names of committed and loyal TDP activists should be recommended for the nominated posts at the earliest, he said. Informing that chairpersons of 21 temple trusts across the State will be appointed, he said right persons will be given right posts. About 60,000 applications have been received for the nominated posts, and they are being scrutinised. Those who failed to get the nominated posts now, will be given opportunities after the completion of two year tenure of those appointed. The performance of all those who got nominated posts, is being closely monitored, he said. Suggesting that TDP activists maintain dignity, and should be cautious like when in opposition, Naidu is of the firm opinion that the governance should be acceptable to all the people. Mingle with NDA leaders, says CM We have rolled out several welfare schemes and development programmes in the last nine months. Clear changes are visible in the administration now, Naidu said. Instructing the In-charge Ministers to visit their respective districts, and review the implementation of the development programmes and welfare schemes, the Chief Minister urged them to give prior intimation to the district coordinators, MLAs and MPs about their visits. The Ministers should also visit the district TDP offices. Group politics in the party should not be tolerated, he asserted. Promoting solar energy is our policy. TDP MLAs should take the initiative to ensure effective implement of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana in every constituency. They should realise the target of installing 10,000 rooftop solar panels under the scheme in each Assembly segment. BCs will get a total subsidy of Rs 80,000 for installing 2 kilowatt rooftop solar panel. SCs and STs will get rooftop solar panels free of cost, explained. Suggesting the MLAs and MPs to raise the issues related to their constituencies in the Assembly and Parliament, the TDP supremo urged them mingle with the rank and file of TDP allies.
