At a review meeting with officials in Khammam, Vikramarka emphasised the need for inter-state coordination and urged police to work with the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure repeat offenders are permanently barred from selling seeds. He emphasised that while traditional terrorists pose a serious threat to the nation, economic terrorists disguised as politicians are even more dangerous to society. He pledged to rid the state of such elements through Operation Clean Politics. Recalling how previous YSRCP government plundered the state through scandals involving land, sand, liquor, and mining, Naidu condemned the public health crisis triggered by the proliferation of illegal brands and drugs, as well as the rampant encroachment of forests and water bodies. He accused the YSRCP of building an illegal empire, from palatial residences to massive estates, and warned them to change their ways. CM Naidu felicitates Dhulipudi Muneshwara Rao (70) from Koduru in Avanigadda Assembly constituency, who cycled over 400 km to attend the TDP Mahanadu in Kadapa I Express I am here for the future of our youth, says Naidu Highlighting the TDPs legacy, Naidu said his party serves as a case study in effective governance and political accountability, standing in stark contrast to the YSRCPs record of mismanagement. On regional development, Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to transform Rayalaseema from a neglected region into the necklace of Andhra Pradesh. Identifying factionalism as the primary barrier to progress, he pledged to maintain a firm stance against it. His comprehensive development blueprint includes education, irrigation, horticulture, industry, green energy, tourism, highways, industrial corridors, and industrial nodes. He noted that several key institutions were established during the TDPs tenure, including IIT Tirupati, IISER, the Indian Culinary Institute, National Sanskrit University, Urdu University in Kurnool, and the Central University and National Academy of Customs in Anantapur. Naidu criticized the previous YSRCP government for leaving the Haj House in Kadapa incomplete. We will finish it in six months, he assured. Under the Lepakshi-Orvakal corridor, major sectors such as defence, aerospace, electronics, automotive, drones, and green energy will be developed. A proposal for establishing a High Court bench in Kurnool has also been submitted. He reaffirmed the construction of the Kadapa Steel Plant, with work starting by June 12. The steel plant will be built in two phases costing Rs 4,500 crores each, creating 6,000 jobs. Development of industrial nodes at Kopparti and Orvakallu is underway with Rs 5,000 crore investments. Regarding water and agriculture, Naidu recalled that the TDP was the first to recognize the plight of farmers in Rayalaseema, launching key projects such as Telugu Ganga, KC Canal, Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, and Machameri lift irrigation. Additional initiatives like the Vedavati, Alaganur, and Gandikota lift schemes were also started by the TDP, but later neglected by the YSRCP. The Annamayya project, which suffered damage under the YSRCPs tenure, will be reconstructed. Naidu pointed out that the TDP spent Rs 12,441 crore on irrigation projects in Rayalaseema, compared to only Rs 2,000 crore by the YSRCP. His vision includes interlinking rivers from Vamsadhara to Penna and completing Phases 1 and 2 of the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project with a budget of Rs 3,873 crore. He announced the immediate release of Rs 1,000 crore to complete the Galeru-Nagari project to ensure water supply to Kadapa. He urged voters to evaluate parties based on their ability to deliver development. Naidu declared that empowering youth and decentralizing development are the core pillars of his administration. He credited the TDPs recent election victory largely to youth participation. I am here for the future of our youth. If we create opportunities, they will achieve miracles, he stated. He reiterated his promise to create 20 lakh jobs, revealing that Rs 7.5 lakh crore in investments have been attracted, resulting in employment for six lakh people. Citing improvements in investor confidence since his return to power in the State, Naidu said, Over Rs 4.95 lakh crore worth of MoUs have already been signed, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in domestic investments and the second-fastest growing state nationally. Major corporations such as Google, TCS, Reliance, ArcelorMittal, BPCL, NTPC, and LG are investing in the state. Diamond Hunters Descend On Kurnool: Here's Why Locals 'Treasure' First Monsoon Rainfall
Diamond fever grips Andhra's Kurnool as monsoon rains revive treasure hunt
KURNOOL: With the seasons first rainfall in Kurnool district, diamond seekers from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have started arriving in Maddikera and Tuggali mandals in search of precious stones. Villagers and fortune-seekers have flocked to areas such as Jonnagiri, Peravali, Pagidirayi, and Madanantapuram, driven by age-old legends linking the region to the buried treasures of Vijayanagara emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya and his minister Timmarusu. Local sources reported a few recent discoveries of valuable stones, further fuelling the rush. A rumour is spreading that a man from Tuggali found stones worth Rs 10 lakh, said Jonnagiri resident G Rama Krishna. We havent seen proof, but its enough to get people moving, he added. Currently, only local villagers are involved, but hundreds more from Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Prakasam, and Karnatakas Bellary district are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Many will set up makeshift tents and camp in nearby areas. Experts say the rainfall helps expose stones by washing away the topsoil. Locals estimate that diamonds worth Rs 4 to Rs 5 crore are found annually in these mandals. The impact on the local economy varies. While some villagers earn large sums overnight, others end up selling stones to middlemen, who resell them in trading hubs like Gootty in Anantapur district. A police official from Pathikonda police sub-division confirmed that the seasonal search has begun, although no official reports of significant finds have been received. He also noted that Goa Mysore Services Pvt. Ltd. is currently conducting authorised drilling operations in Pagidirayi to explore gold and other minerals.

Andhra government to implement free RTC bus travel for women from August 15
KURNOOL: The TDP-led NDA government has decided to implement the free travel scheme for women in RTC buses, one of its Super Six promises, from August 15. Addressing a public meeting in Panyam Assembly constituency of Kurnool district on Saturday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the free RTC bus travel scheme for women will be implemented from August 15, marking the Independence Day. Ours is a peoples government. We are ensuring the welfare of poor and downtrodden, while attracting major investments to the State. We have already brought 76 projects worth Rs 4.96 lakh crore, which will generate employment for 4.51 lakh people, he said. On NDA welfare schemes, Naidu said, We are providing social security pensions ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000 to the eligible people, something unparalleled in the country. With Anna Canteens, we are feeding the poor. Under Deepam 2.0, we are giving three LPG cylinders free per annum. Teacher posts will be filled through Mega DSC. A sum of Rs 15,000 will be credited into the bank accounts of women with schoolgoing children before the commencement of new academic year under Thalliki Vandanam scheme. During his visit to C-Camp Rythu Bazaar, Naidu interacted with farmers and sanitation workers. Highlighting the Swachh Andhra and Swarna Andhra initiative on third Saturday of every month, he said, Cleanliness is essential for everyone. We must keep our houses and surroundings clean. Clean space fosters clean thoughts. Many people suffer from health issues in the modern world. Everyone must practise yoga daily. On the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam. We will hold yoga programmes statewide from May 21 to June 21, he said. Aim is to make AP net-zero State environmentally The CM narrated a story of Gautama Buddha to highlight the importance of recycling. In the story, a disciple asks Buddha for a new robe as his old one is torn. Buddha gives him a new one. Later, when asked what happened to the old robe, the disciple says he used it as a bedsheet, later as a curtain, and finally as a cleaning cloth in the kitchen. Buddha praises the disciple for reusing it wisely. This story teaches us that nothing should go waste. Everything can be reused or recycled, he explained. Our goal is to make Andhra Pradesh a net-zero State environmentally. The previous government left 8.5 million metric tonnes of garbage in urban areas uncleared. I have instructed Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Narayana to clear all the garbage by October 2. So far, 5.5 million tonnes of waste has been removed, he mentioned. In Japan, not even a scrap of paper is thrown on the road. We must adopt such practices here. Two waste-to-energy projects are already functional in the State. Future projects will come up in Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Nellore and Kadapa converting 90% of urban waste into energy, Naidu revealed. I am a child of Rayalaseema, and its development is my responsibility. The region was once synonymous with drought and factionism. We have eradicated factionism and shielded the people from drought. Rayalaseema is being transformed into a horticulture hub now with an acreage of 1.8 million hectares. We will double the acreage of horticulture crops to 3.6 million hectares in next five years, he said.

Zero waste should be our goal: CM Chandrababu Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised the need for transforming Andhra Pradeshs villages into clean and sustainable hubs through effective waste management. Zero waste should be our goal. Every panchayat should implement an action plan to achieve it, he said. During a review meeting with officials at the State Secretariat on Thursday, he directed them to intensify efforts to ensure daily collection of waste from households, convert wet waste into compost, and hand over dry waste to agencies for processing. Naidu instructed the officials to invite tenders next month to engage agencies for dry waste collection, and to entrust DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) groups with managing wet waste, converting it into compost locally. He proposed the establishment of 52 waste management clusters across the State, with two per district, to grade and sell waste to agencies or transport it for further processing. No panchayat should dump waste on the roadside, he asserted. The Chief Minister advocated for a Circular Economy Policy to streamline waste management, suggesting a study of Rajasthans model, and the use of electric vehicles for waste collection. He directed the Panchayat Raj Department to coordinate with the Swachh Andhra Pradesh initiative, and the Pollution Control Board in this regard. Naidu also emphasised the need for studying agricultural and allied sector waste to support the circular economy. To incentivise progress, he announced awards for panchayats and individuals excelling in waste management, to be presented on October 2, 2025, with a goal to fully streamline the system by October 2, 2026. The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of Waste-to-Energy plants being set up in Nellore, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Kurnool, directing the officials to ensure timely completion.
