'Not Easy To Set Field For Her, Says Saba Karim After Harmanpreet's Knock Vs GG
DY Patil Stadium: Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim praised Harmanpreet Kaur's competitive spirit and match awareness, saying that its a difficult job for the opposition to set the field for her, after the Mumbai Indians pulled off a thrilling seven-wicket win against the Gujarat Giants in the Womens Premier League 2026 on Tuesday at the DY Patil Stadium. Reflecting on Harmanpreets innings, Karim described the Mumbai Indians captain as one of the most adaptable and difficult batters to contain in modern womens cricket. Its always a pleasure to watch Harmanpreet bat like this. The secret to her success, longevity and consistency is her ability to adapt very quickly. That comes from her awareness of the match situation and her early assessment of conditions, he told Jiostar. She plays the field extremely well. Its not easy to set a field for Harmanpreet. She exploits the offside with ease and is equally strong on the leg side. Her ability to coil and uncoil at the right moment, combined with her back lift and downswing, makes it very difficult for bowlers to contain her, he added. Karim acknowledged that although the innings had imperfections, the 36-year-old captain's clarity and understanding of the game once again distinguished him. She finds gaps against both pace and spin and reads the game exceptionally well. Her WPL record speaks for itself. More than 1,000 runs batting at number four, along with several fifties, shows the immense value she brings every time she walks out to bat, Karim said. Former New Zealand cricketer Katey Martin also shared similar views, emphasising the Indian batters skill in managing the pace of a chase and leveraging her strengths at key moments. I think Harmanpreet never wants to leave this ground. She turned up here on the first day with a massive smile on her face. Before that, she had taken the World Cup home as well, and she continues, said Martin. She commits to her strengths, but the way she paces her innings is so crucial. She started off slowly, eight off eight, looked for her match up, which was Ashleigh Gardner, and then went after her. When you see shots like her drives over extra cover and mid-wicket, you wonder how someone can hit all around the ground with such power and precision. You want your best player to stand up in chases, and Harmanpreet did exactly that, she added. Martin also commended Amanjot Kaurs role and her partnership with Harmanpreet, which was crucial in turning the momentum back in the Mumbai Indians' favour. WPL: Amanjot Feels Blessed To Witness 'the Harmanpreet Kaur Era'
DY Patil Stadium: Mumbai Indians all-rounder Amanjot Kaur praised her skipper Harmanpreet Kaur after the latters match-winning knock against the Gujarat Giants on Tuesday at the DY Patil Stadium as the two-time champions handed the Ashleigh Gardner-led side their first defeat of the season. Amanjot unleashed the beast within during the clash against GG, notched up a 26-ball 40, and contributed brilliantly during her teams chase before Harmanpreet finished off with an unbeaten 43-ball 71 and took her team over the finish line. The duo put on a 72-run stand and anchored Mumbais innings after G Kamalini and Hayley Matthews were sent packing in the powerplay. I am blessed. In fact, we are all blessed to witness the Harmanpreet Kaur era, Amanjot said about batting with Harmanpreet during the post-match press conference. As long as she is on the ground, nobody feels like switching off even for a second. Last year, she played a superb knock as well. You dont feel the pressure while batting with her. Although I havent batted a lot with Harman di, but I knew that because she was around, I didnt have to worry about boundaries because she would create them. I have learnt a lot of game awareness from here. She hit an inswinger over the covers, which was very difficult. When it hits the middle of her bat, you dont have to look, it is a six for sure, she added. On getting to bat at number three, she stated, Unfortunately, Nat had to miss out because she had food poisoning. I was asked if I wanted to bat at number three, and I said I was happy to bat wherever the team needed me to bat. When asked about her thoughts before going in to bat during a big chase, Amanjot stated, That depends on the situation. We were chasing a big and Kamalini got out early. With Hayley, the discussion was to capitalise on the powerplay. When Harry di (Harmanpreet) came in, we discussed me going after the bat balls. Since it was a big total, we planned that one of us would stay till the end, which she did and finished the game. The all-rounder has been playing a finishers role of late, and she credited the Mumbai Indians for helping her evolve in the role. MI has played a huge role in my role evolving. In domestic cricket, I would always play as an opener. I had never batted at number eight. God has been very kind to me. My debuts have been very good. This was my first World Cup as well. After injuries as well, my comebacks have been really good. It took me some time to get into this role. Before the WPLs, we would have these camps where the coaches would tell us where they see us and what they expect from us. That really helped us. I knew I would get 10-15 balls to face only and I would have to make an impact in that. MI has had a huge role for me, she said. MI has played a huge role in my role evolving. 'Can't Say Anything Bad About Our Effort,' GG Coach Klinger Reflects On Dropped Catches Vs MI
After Sophie Devine: Gujarat Giants head coach Michael Klinger admitted his side paid a heavy price for repeated lapses in the field but stressed that the teams overall commitment and preparation remain strong despite defeat against Mumbai Indians. GG suffered their first loss of the WPL 2026 season, with an uncharacteristically untidy fielding display undoing much of the good work they had shown earlier in the tournament. MI skipper Harmanpreet was dropped on three occasions, and several misfields and overthrows compounded their problems, a stark contrast to the sharp standards they had set in their opening two matches. Reflecting on the performance, Klinger noted that the Giants were largely solid for most of the innings before things unravelled late on. We fielded really well in the first couple of games. And probably in the first 14-15 overs we fielded quite well and then all those dropped catches came in the back end in the last five-six overs, Klinger said at the post-match press conference. He acknowledged how costly such mistakes can be against world-class batters, but he was careful not to question his players work ethic. It's difficult when you give a player as good as Harmanpreet three chances, but at the same time, the effort I can't say anything bad about our effort in the field and our work with training. They've been working extremely hard with our fielding coach Sarah Taylor and all the other coaches. So certainly no issue with the effort. It's difficult when you put good players down, catches down, and so it's something we'll keep working on. We've worked on our fielding really hard and we've had two good performances and probably one performance that's not quite at our best. Earlier, GG made a tactical adjustment to their batting order after all-rounder Anushka Sharma was ruled out with a hand injury sustained in the win over Delhi Capitals. With Anushka unavailable, Kanika Ahuja was promoted to No. 3, a significant change given that she had batted as low as No. 8 in the previous match and hadnt featured in the season opener. The decision proved inspired. After Sophie Devines early dismissal, Ahuja counterattacked with a fluent 35 off 18 deliveries, striking four boundaries and two sixes to inject momentum into the innings. Klinger explained the rationale for the move and praised Ahujas execution. We probably had a couple of options in that (No. 3) spot. Once we realised that Anushka was going to be unavailable for a game or two, and we felt Kanika had been training really well. (She's) another left-hander up the top who can play pace and spin well, and I thought she played brilliantly today, Klinger said. He added that clarity about her role had helped her play with freedom. We spoke to her about playing some strong shots, not trying to over-hit the ball, and I felt she did that really well, both to pace and spin, hitting through and over the field brilliantly. She started so well and still had about 19 (17.2) overs left to bat, and I think there's even a lot of upside there and she can get some even bigger scores for us if she gets that opportunity down the track. We spoke to her about playing some strong shots, not trying to over-hit the ball, and I felt she did that really well, both to pace and spin, hitting through and over the field brilliantly. WPL 2026: Gujarat Giants Rue 'dropped Catches' After Big Loss To Mumbai Indians
DY Patil Stadium: Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner rued missed chances in the field and dropped catches of est player in the world as Harmanpreet Kaur guided Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket victory at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. Chasing a daunting target of 193, the Mumbai Indians showed composure and firepower in equal measure, with Harmanpreet (73 not out) finishing the game in style to cap a dominant batting display from the Kaurs Amanjot (40) and Harmanpreet. Harmanpreet, who enjoyed three lives during her innings, went on to register her fifth half-century against the Giants and became only the second player in WPL history, after Nat Sciver-Brunt, to cross the 1000-run mark. Nicola Carey then provided the finishing touches with a fluent unbeaten 38 off 23 balls, laced with six boundaries. Harmanpreet sealed the chase with the winning boundary in the final over, finishing on a superb 71 off 43 deliveries, which included seven fours and two sixes. Yeah, we did. It's a cliche, but catches win you matches. We pride ourselves on how we fielded. And tonight, you can't drop the best players in the world. We have played three close games so far and are disappointed to finish on the losing side, said Ashleigh Gardner, Gujarat Giants Women captain. The Giants captain was candid about her tactical choices, acknowledging Harmanpreet Kaurs dominance against her and reflecting that she could have used herself more with the ball despite having multiple bowling options. I don't have a good match-up over Harmanpreet. She has a wood over me. I thought I under-utilised myself when I'm the captain, and it happens when you have eight bowling options. In hindsight, I was the best option. I can say that standing here. But I could have bowled more overs. But I wasn't a good match against her. Gardner highlighted the Giants middle-order firepower, praising Georgia Wareham and others for consistently delivering at the back end and backing 193 as a total that should have been enough to win. We have a lot of firepower in the middle. Wareham, we have seen what she's been able to do at the back end. It's a pleasing thing to see them do their thing. 193 is a winning target. Gardner highlighted the Giants middle-order firepower, praising Georgia Wareham and others for consistently delivering at the back end and backing 193 as a total that should have been enough to win. WPL 2026: January 14-15 Matches To Be Played Behind Closed Doors Due To Civic Polls
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation: The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 matches scheduled for January 14 and 15 at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, will be conducted behind closed doors, without spectators, due to elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body for Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the state. However, the spectators will be allowed to attend the Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru game on January 16, with the BCCI secretary informing that the counting day is not being taken into account. This decision has been taken in light of the Municipal Corporation Elections in Navi Mumbai on January 15, 2026. Spectators will be permitted entry into the stadium from January 16, 2026, onwards, and all subsequent matches will be played with crowds in attendance. TATA WPL 2026 accredited media will be allowed entry on both days - January 14, 2026, and January 15, 2026 in the stadium, BCCI, the organising body, said in a statement. Earlier, Devajit Saikia told IANS that two of the upcoming league stage matches of the ongoing Womens Premier League (WPL) 2026 will likely be held behind closed doors due to elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body for Mumbai, and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the state. With most security personnel deployed for elections, it may be difficult to manage the crowd on the day of the polling, January 15, and the day before, January 14. Hence, the Indian cricket board decided not to allow spectators into the DY Patil stadium for the Delhi Capitals vs UP Warriorz fixture and the Mumbai Indians vs UP Warriorz contest, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. WPL 2026: Wareham's Unbeaten 43, Late Fireworks From Fulmali Help GG Post 192/5 Against MI
DY Patil Sports Academy: Georgia Wareham's unbeaten 43 and late fireworks by Bharti Fulmali (36 not out off 15 balls) helped Gujarat Giants post 192/5 in 20 overs against Mumbai Indians in the sixth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. Asked to bat first, Gujarat Giants got off to an amazing start, scoring 62 for 1 in the Power-play and taking control of the early momentum. Leading the charge, Beth Mooney made the most of an early reprieve when G. Kamalini missed a chance off Shabnim Ismail in the first over. With a series of powerful blows, she made the reigning champions pay. Hayley Matthews and Nicola Carey, on the other hand, proved costly as they were unable to stop the run flow. Kamalini made amends with a deft catch behind the stumps after Ismail gave MI a breakthrough by dismissing Sophie Devine, but the Giants maintained their lead. Kanika Ahuja, who was promoted up the order to No. 3, contributed with a constructive attitude, guaranteeing Gujarat finished the powerplay firmly in control. Ahuja took charge against Ismail and got a boundary before she smashed Matthews for a maximum and a boundary in the next over. However, Amelia Kerr pulled things back for Mumbai, getting rid of the well-set Beth Mooney (33) in her first over, breaking the key partnership of 42 runs. Amelia Kerr was taken apart in her second over after a tidy first, conceding 14 runs as the momentum swung back Gujarats way. Kanika and Ashleigh Gardner were in full flow, finding boundaries with ease and keeping the pressure on the bowlers. Skipper Ashleigh started positively and scored 11-ball 20 before getting trapped right in front of the stumps. After the halfway mark, the Gujarat Giants found themselves in a very good position at 99 for 3, but after the dismissal of Kanika (35 runs off 18 balls) in the 11th over, the Mumbai Indians were able to regain some control. The Mumbai bowlers clawed their way back and put pressure on the Giants batters. In a bold tactical decision, Ayushi was retired by the Giants management in the 16th over after scoring just 11 runs off the bat -- the decision, which shaped the outcome of the innings. Fulmali came to the crease and was responsible for the turnaround of the Gujarat innings. After being given two close LBW shouts on consecutive balls, she unleashed an incredible show of power-hitting in the latter part of the innings and blasted an unbelievably impressive 36 runs off just 15 balls, including three fours and three sixes, in the final overs. Wareham provided key support with an easy batting performance of 43 not out. The last over alone added 23 runs to the team, and they totalled 62 runs in the last five overs. Ultimately, the Giants finished their innings with a massive score of 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, enabling the team to have an extremely difficult time back at home with 192 runs to chase. For the Mumbai Indians, a fit-again Hayley Matthews is back in the playing eleven as Nat Sciver Brunt is unwell. Giants have handed a debut to Ayushi Soni as Anushka Sharma is out with an injury. Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, We are going to bowl first. I believe, in T20 cricket, especially when you are playing night games, its better to chase. We are ticking all the areas we discussed in the team meetings. The bowlers are executing their plans. We are looking to bat positively in the first six overs. Hayley is fit, and she is back. Unfortunately, Nat is unwell today. Hayley does well with bat and ball, and hopefully, she can take the responsibility for the team. Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Head coach Abhishek Nayar explained that UP Warriorz's batting order change was due to opposition strategies after Kiran Navgire was moved down to No. 4, admitting that sending Harleen Deol to open against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was a mistake, and he takes full responsibility for that. Harleens struggles with the bat have been evident in the past two games. She batted in the middle order in the teams campaign opener against Gujarat Giants, and was dismissed for a two-ball duck. In the recently concluded clash against RCB, she opened alongside skipper Meg Lanning and could manage only 11 runs off 14 deliveries before being sent packing by Lauren Bell. We felt that with the moving ball at that point, Harleen could add a bit of value in the powerplay. She's obviously technically correct. It didn't work out today. I felt it turned out to be the wrong decision. I take complete responsibility for it. But I think the thought process behind it was having some solidity up top and then hopefully having that power later on as the pitch gets better, because we anticipated a bit of swing initially. I thought those match-ups for Kiran Navgire in the middle would work. [But they] didn't work today. So I look foolish, Nayar told reporters at the post-match press conference. Navgire scored 1 run off 4 balls in UPW's 208-run chase against Gujarat Giants, while Deol was out for a duck in two balls. However, Phoebe Litchfield's 78, along with lower-order cameos, kept UPW competitive as they lost by only ten runs. One notable cameo was from Shweta Sehrawat, who made a 17-ball 25 with three sixes and a four. Batting at No. 6, she hit her first ball, bowled by Renuka Singh, for a six over extra cover. Speaking of Sehrawat, a top-order batter by nature, being slotted in the middle over while also being handed the wicketkeeping duties, Nayar said, For her career, I think it's a great step moving forward. Giving her the gloves, in my head, was a KL Rahul sort of move, where it brightens her chances of making it to the India squad, especially seeing that there aren't a lot of options. She's a tremendous batter with a lot of capability, power and flair. She has been working on a couple of shots, and we've seen that in practice matches and during her preparation. But it was good to see a sample size of it in a game. I have a lot more expectations from her through the season because I truly believe she has the potential to don the India colours and do exceedingly well. In 15 days of practice, she has been keeping to Sophie Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma and Asha. So with a little more keeping under her belt, I really feel she can be a great prospect for the Indian women's team. Against RCB, Deol struggled to score against Lauren Bell, facing nine dot balls during her 14-ball innings before mistiming a shot to mid-off. Navgire scored five off three balls before losing her wicket at deep midwicket. Her dismissal contributed to a collapse where UPW lost four wickets for 11 runs, dropping to 50/5. Deepti Sharma and Deandra Dottin then played carefully to carry the innings to a total of 143/5. The top three today was a call based on the opposition. Although I believe in having players play set roles, I also felt that today it didn't work out. But that doesn't mean Harleen can't do it, or that Kiran can't do it. It just didn't work out today. If she had scored 100, we'd be having a different conversation, Nayad added. Article Source: IANS

WPL 2026: Deepti, Dottin Rescue Act Helps UP Warriorz Post 143/5 Against RCB
DY Patil Sports Academy: Former captain Deepti Sharma's rescue act of unbeaten 45 and Deandra Dottin's 40 not out helped UP Warriorz Women put up a score of 143/5 in 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the fifth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. UP Warriorz produced a remarkable recovery to reach 143 for 5 in 20 overs, clawing their way back from a precarious 50 for 5, thanks to a superb, unbeaten 93-run sixth-wicket partnership between Dottin and Deepti. After being asked to bat first, the Meg Lanning-led side started well with the bat but suffered an early setback courtesy of tight bowling from RCB bowlers. Harleen Deol (11), who was pushed up to open the innings with Meg Lanning (14), was unable to get going, while their captain also struggled early on to get into her innings. Phoebe Litchfield (20) batted with great intent early on, but then repeated last match's mistake and didn't match her quick start with more runs. The wheels came off quickly for UPW. Poor shot selection by Kiran Navgire (5) and Shweta Sehrawat (0) in the middle caused the team to lose its momentum, as they fell from 50/3 down to 50/5 and looked to be heading for an embarrassing total. However, momentum changed in Warriorz' favour as both Dottin (40 not out) and Deepti (45 not out) were able to absorb the pressure and counterattack in a controlled manner. Early in their innings, the two players took turns rotating the strike and punishing anything that wasn't on line before adding an unbeaten 93 runs together for the sixth wicket, which left UPW in a solid position to get a competitive total with 143/5 and something to bowl at for their bowlers. The stand also etched its place in WPL history. It became the second-highest sixth-wicket partnership in the league, behind only the 109-run unbroken stand between Poonam Khemnar and Deepti Sharma against Gujarat Giants in Delhi in 2024, and ahead of the 69-run partnership between Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma against RCB at the same venue in 2023. For RCB, Lauren Bell once again impressed with the new ball, returning figures of 1 for 16. Shreyanka Patil provided key breakthroughs by dismissing Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield in the same over, though she proved expensive at the death to finish with 2 for 50. Nadine de Klerk created history by becoming the first bowler in WPL to take wickets with her first two deliveries, but she went wicketless thereafter and ended with 2 for 28. Linsey Smith and Arundhati Reddy were economical in their spells, rounding off an otherwise solid bowling effort. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS that two of the upcoming league stage matches of the ongoing Womens Premier League (WPL) 2026 will likely be held behind closed doors due to elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the civic body for Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the state. With most security personnel deployed for elections, it may be difficult to manage the crowd on the day of the polling, January 15, and the day before, January 14. Hence, the Indian cricket board is contemplating whether to allow spectators into the DY Patil stadium for the Delhi Capitals vs UP Warriorz fixture and the Mumbai Indians vs UP Warriorz contest, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. However, spectators will be allowed to attend the Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru game on January 16, with the BCCI secretary informing that the counting day is not being taken into account. There are going to be polls on January 15, so on January 14 and on the day of the polling, we are discussing whether the WPL matches can go on without any crowd. Once we finalise it, we will give a public notice. We're still contemplating that. Matches will be held as scheduled, but we're still discussing whether there will be a crowd. It does not include the 16th because the election is on the 15th. I think the 16th will be the counting day, so we are not factoring that in, Saikia told IANS. McDonald's Merry Meal's Socks Sparked Festive FOMO
McDonald's India (West & South), owned and operated by Westlife Foodworld, witnessed an overwhelming consumer response to its limited-edition Santa Socks, launched as part of the Merry Meal. The festive merchandise was completely sold out across West and South India before Christmas, turning a seasonal collectible into one of the most talked-about festive drops of the year. McDonald’s India’s Christmas Special Santa Socks Sold Out in 5 Days Demand surged rapidly, led by Mumbai as the fastest-selling city, followed closely by Ahmedabad. The campaign saw 1,50,000 socks sold just within five days, reflecting the speed and scale at which consumer excitement translated into action. The buzz around the Santa socks was driven by consumers themselves. More than 200+ organic social media reels featuring the Socks appeared across platforms, creating a strong sense of FOMO and urgency around the collectible. Some went a step further and created their own versions of the socks, wearing lookalikes simply to feel part of the moment. A key factor behind this response was the creative approach. Instead of releasing a traditional festive brand film, the brand chose to tell the story through a Gen Z–forward, lifestyle film that felt authentic to the way people consume and share content today. The film helped position the Merry Meal as a cultural moment that felt fun, relatable, and worth sharing. As the year turns and festive moments linger, the McDonald’s India Socks story stands as proof that when cultural insight meets organic consumer love, even a small festive detail can leave a lasting impression! www.instagram.com/reel/DSPnAHjkc1u/?hl=en Over the years, McDonald’s has delighted fans across ages with iconic toys, novelties and seasonal keepsakes. Building on this legacy, the Merry Meal brought that excitement back with a collectible and limited edition pair of Christmas Socks, available in two unique festive designs, which fans could wear, gift, and swap or add to their growing McDonald’s memorabilia. Lavdeep Walia, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, McDonald’s India (W&S) , said, “ For decades, we have been part of countless family moments. The Merry Meal was designed to bring families and friends together over great food, festive fun and a little extra cheer, because nothing says celebration like a delicious meal with a surprise that warms your heart (and your feet!). This initiative was our way of strengthening everyday occasions and creating touchpoints that keep people coming together at our restaurants. Our intent is to continue shaping occasions wherein communities gather, celebrate and create memories that last beyond the meal.” About Westlife Westlife Foodworld Limited (BSE: 505533) (WFL), formerly known as Westlife Development Ltd (WDL), focuses on setting up and operating Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) in India through its subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. WPL: 'We Stayed In The Contest Till The Very End,' Says Nandini Sharma After DCs Narrow Loss To GG
Nandini Sharma: After the Delhi Capitals narrowly missed victory by four runs against the Gujarat Giants, pacer Nandini Sharma hailed the team's spirited all-round performance, saying the way the team fought till the end was commendable. Chasing a formidable target of 210, Delhi Capitals finished at 205 for 5 in 20 overs, remaining competitive until the last ball. The chase was led by Lizelle Lees 86 off 54 balls and a quick 77 off 38 balls from Laura Wolvaardt. Earlier, DCs bowling was highlighted by pacer Nandni Sharma, who posted impressive figures of 5 for 33. In only her second WPL game, Nandni became the first Indian uncapped player to take a hat-trick and the first Indian to achieve a five-wicket haul in the Womens Premier League, taking four wickets in the final over. Reflecting on the close contest, Delhi Capitals pacer Nandni Sharma said, We stayed in the contest till the very end. Everyone gave their best and we were very close. These things happen in cricket, but the way the team fought was very positive. She acknowledged the support from skipper Jemimah Rodrigues on the field and added, Jemi kept telling me to do my best. She was guiding me ball by ball and that helped me a lot, and it allowed me to stay calm. Speaking about the guidance she has received from experienced players within the setup, Nandni said, Marizanne Kapp has helped me a lot. She talks to me about the pitch, situations and what length to bowl. Having someone with that experience guiding you makes things much easier. Speaking about her journey and how she developed her bowling, Nandni said, My elder brother used to play cricket and go to the academy every day, and thats how I started. I joined when I was eight years old, but I was very young and didnt get many opportunities initially. I left for some time, but after six months I started again. I practiced with a coach who taught me a lot, especially about bowling bouncers. After the lockdown, I changed my coach and started playing with boys. They used to pick the ball very easily, so I realised I needed to improve my pace and work on variations. For the last one year, I have been practising mostly with my parents and my brother, and they have given me a lot of time and support. Highlighting the lessons she has gained at this level, the young pacer added, At this level, batters will hit good balls as well, so you have to stay calm and focus on execution. I have learned to bowl according to the batter and the situation, and every match gives you something new to learn.
