WPL 2026: Theyve Basically Qualified, Couldnt Ask For A Better Start, Says Kate Cross On RCBs Form

DY Patil Sports Academy: 2024 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are in red-hot form in the 2026 edition of the Womens Premier League (WPL), and the teams former pacer Kate Cross believes that theyre just moments away from qualifying for the playoffs heading into the Vadodara leg of the tournament. Smriti Mandhana fell heartbreakingly short of a maiden WPL century, but her commanding 96 set up Royal Challengers Bengalurus (RCB) emphatic eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals, as RCB made it four wins in as many matches to remain unbeaten at the top of the WPL 2026 points table at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. With action now shifting to Vadodara and all teams eyeing to finish in the top three, RCB sit comfortably at the top of the points table with a good lead over their competitors. That first win against MI was a bit scratchy for RCB, as they found a way of almost losing that game, if it wasnt for Nadine de Klerk. But since then, theyve been a class above every other team in this tournament. To start the Navi Mumbai leg unbeaten and then head to Vadodara puts Smriti Mandhana and Co in a perfect position. Theyve basically qualified, and you couldnt ask for a better start to the tournament, especially with a new group. They lost Ellyse Perry after she pulled out, obviously, so Smriti Mandhana must be thinking this is the easiest job in the world, Cross said of RCB's dream start to the WPL. Speaking on Mandhana's match-winning 96-run knock against Delhi Capitals in the recently concluded game, Cross said, Ive always said a strong RCB is when Smriti is scoring runs, and shes had a good start to the tournament. Im so disappointed she couldnt get that hundred in this match and finally put to bed that jinx around the first hundred. But when it does come, its going to be special. She played her best innings today. She looked comfortable at the crease; even after they lost Grace Harris quite early, it didnt faze her. She just went about her business and put on a masterclass. She was outstanding. WPL 2026: Kranthi Earns Debut As MI Elect To Bowl Against Unchanged UPW

DY Patil Stadium: Defending champions Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first against an unchanged UP Warriorz in the 10th match of the Womens Premier League (WPL) here at the DY Patil Stadium on Saturday. While the Warriorz kept their starting lineup unchanged from the previous game, the Mumbai Indians made two changes, with Hayley Matthews returning and Nalla Kranthi Reddy making her debut. UP Warriorz faced an unlucky start with three straight losses but made a strong comeback by securing a seven-wicket victory over defending champions MI on Thursday. The win was powered by Harleen Deols energetic 64 off 39 balls, showcasing both strength and steadiness. Despite this uplifting win, Warriorz remain at the bottom of the points standings. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians, who had been aiming to regain momentum with consecutive wins after a close opening-game loss, dropped to second place in the points table following their defeat against the Warriorz in their most recent match. After winning the toss, MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said, Were going to bowl first today. As a team, we decided to chase because chasing has always been our strength, and we just want to go back to our strengths. Looking at the conditions today, weve brought Matthews back into the side, and Ismail is resting. It is mainly because of the conditions and because were playing a day match. We feel Matthews is going to play a very big role on this pitch, so weve made one change. Apart from that, we have another change. Poonam is not playing today, and Kanchan is going to make her debut. Conditions are going to play a very big role in this tournament, and at the same time, we want to give equal chances to all the players. Were heading into the main part of the tournament, and hopefully everyone will get used to these conditions and give their best, she added. Warriorz captain Meg Lanning, meanwhile, stated, We would have bowled first as well. That seems to be the trend. But in the day games at the start of the tournament, Gujarat batted well first up, so theres certainly an opportunity there with the bat. Looking forward to it. I think youve got to be able to do it well. Were really looking forward to coming up against Mumbai again. I know theyll be looking to bounce back, but were ready for that. We feel we can improve a few things as well, so excited to go out there and do it. Were going with the same team as the last game. RCB Have Found A Way Again To Win This WPL Season: Deep Dasgupta

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta lauded the Royal Challengers Bengalurus (RCB) efforts and their performance against the Gujarat Giants in the recently concluded Womens Premier League (WPL) 2026 game and stated that the 2024 champions have found a way to win again this year. RCB delivered a commanding performance against GG on Friday, demonstrating impressive resilience by bouncing back from 40/4 to reach 182, then effectively defending it through disciplined bowling. Speaking on JioHotstar, Dasgupta analysed RCBs comeback victory, stating, Just at the start of the game, RCB was 40 for 4, and were thinking, oh my God, whats happening with RCB? But then again, RCB this year, this season, have found a way to win. In the first game they were struggling and found a way; in this game they were struggling and found a way again. First, it was that batting performance from Radha Yadav and Richa Ghosh, and then the bowlers. Because it was never going to be easy defending 182. Gujarat Giants have these big hitters and theyve been scoring freely. Also, this was the first time RCB were bowling in the second half, which is a whole new factor. But a top performance from RCB, and this should give them a lot of confidence, he added. Katey Martin also joined the bandwagon and spoke about Shreyanka Patils inspiring journey, saying, Shes such an intelligent player and an intelligent person as well, and it comes through in the way she speaks and the way she bowls. I think she had six or seven different types of injuries over the last two years, so it wasnt just one thing shed come back and then something else would happen. I love the fact that were seeing traditional off-spinners come back into the T20 game. Theres so much focus on spinners who dont spin it at all, and theres a place for that too, but to be able to sum up the conditions, slow the pace down, bowl off-spin and let the wicket do the work is special. I remember she said that she was in tears standing at the top of her mark because she was just so proud to be back playing cricket. To think that in the space of three or four months to now in the WPL, picking up 5 for 4 against a team she absolutely loves what a special moment, the former New Zealand cricketer added. RCBs new-ball pacer Lauren Bell has put up impressive performances so far and has been a crucial cog in the teams victories this season. Former India wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim commented on the tall fast-bowlers impact, stating, Shes really enjoying her outings at the D.Y. Patil Stadium. Shes able to generate that kind of pace and, if you recall that delivery to Sophie Devine, extract extra bounce. It was good to see her come back strongly. Also Read: Live Cricket Score Lauren Bell has been not only economical but also effective with the new ball, in the middle overs, and at the death. Overall, this was an impressive win for RCB a win built on self-belief and resilience. At one stage, they were tottering at 40 for 4 without Smriti Mandhana, with the top order back in the hut. To recover from there and post 182 shows this team refuses to lie down. They believe they can always come back from a precarious situation, and that belief was on full display, he said. WPL 2026: Radhas 66, Shreyankas Five-for Helps RCB Beat GG, Become Table Toppers (ld)

Dr DY Patil Stadium: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) maintained their perfect start to 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 with a 32-run victory over Gujarat Giants and moved to the top of the points table after a standout maiden five-wicket haul from off-spin bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had recovered from a shaky start after losing four wickets in the Power-play, with Radha Yadav emerging as the unlikely saviour by hitting 66 off 42 balls -- her maiden WPL fifty and adding 105 runs for the fifth wicket with Richa Ghosh, who hit 44 off 28 deliveries, while Nadine de Klerks late cameo of 26 lifted the total to 182/7. In reply, Gujarat Giants raced to 32 in three overs, but lost five wickets in the next eight overs. Despite Bharti Fulmali and Kashvee Gautam threatening to complete the chase with big hits, RCB closed out a comfortable win as GG were bowled out for 150 in 18.5 overs, with Shreyanka taking 5-23 and Lauren Bell picking 3-29. Beth Mooney gave Gujarat Giants a brisk start by flicking Lauren for four, and was followed by a slash off Linsey Smith through square leg while Sophie Devine heaved her over mid-wicket. Beth cut loose against Lauren in the third over - lofting and pulling for two fours, while lofting over mid-off for six. RCB struck back in the fourth over when Arundhati Reddy removed Sophie for eight by holding a sharp return catch off her own bowling. In the next over, Shreyanka delivered a key breakthrough by trapping Beth lbw for 27 after a successful review. GGs slide continued when Ashleigh Gardner edged a cut behind to Richa Ghosh off Lauren, while Kanika Ahuja was trapped lbw by Shreyanka for 16 on review, and Georgia Wareham attempted to heave a short delivery off Nadine de Klerk, but miscued it and Radha Yadav sprinted across from deep mid-wicket to complete a sharp catch. Bharti offered some resistance by cutting Nadine through backward point for four, before edging a low full toss past Richa for another boundary, and then launched a towering six over long-off. She was reprieved on 12 when Smriti Mandhana dropped her catch at mid-off. Bharti punished RCB for that dropped chance by walloping Linsey for two monstrous sixes and keeping GGs hopes alive by cutting Nadine past point for four and lofting a slower ball over cover for six. But RCB continued to chip away as Kashvee, after surviving a dropped chance at long-off, holed out to long-on off a slower ball from Shreyanka. Though Tanuja Kanwer hit a four and six off Shreyanka and Lauren, Bharti mistimed a pull off the latter, and long-on ran in to take a diving catch. A ball later, Lauren had her third wicket when debutante Shivani Singh holed out to long-on. Tanuja hit two boundaries off Arundhati, but holed out to cover off Shreyanka, who completed her five-for with Renuka Singh Thakur holing out to mid-off, and completed a phenomenal win for RCB. Previously, after being four down in power-play, Radha produced her finest knock in the competition, while combining with Richa and Nadine to lift the total beyond 180. For GG, Sophie Devine was the standout by claiming three wickets, while dropped chances again hurt GG. RCB made a flying start after being put in to bat, with Grace Harris taking Renuka apart in the opening over, striking four boundaries as 23 runs came off it. But GG bounced back when Kashvees big inswinger trapped Grace lbw for 17, while Dayalan Hemalatha miscued a hook off the all-rounder and Shivani pulled off a sharp one-handed catch at short fine leg. Smritis struggle continued as she fell cheaply to Renuka after edging to Rajeshwari Gayakwad at short third. Sophie added to the pressure by trapping Gautami Naik lbw to leave the visitors reeling at 45/4. But Radha and Richa steadied the innings, counter-attacking with boundaries against Georgia and Ashleigh. Radha cleared long-on for six and carved fours through point, while Richa found the fence with a late cut and a slap through cover. After Radha survived an lbw review, she leaned into a pitched-up delivery from Renuka to pierce backward point for four, while Richa carved another boundary to raise the fifty of the partnership. Richa left the crowd thrilled by lofting a loopy delivery from Georgia over deep mid-wicket for six and was dropped by deep mid-off. Kashvees reintroduction saw Radha pull confidently over long-on for six, before Richa showcased her power by driving Sophie straight into the sight screen for a towering six. Radha reached her maiden fifty emphatically, pulling Sophie over deep square leg for six, before carving Ashleigh through cover for a crisp boundary, and was then reprieved when a chance was put down by Bharti on the final ball of the over. Richa, meanwhile, showcased her touch with a deft late cut past third man for four, before holing out to long-on off Georgia. Nadine brought out a blistering assault by smashing Kashvee for two sixes and two fours in the 19th over, worth 22 runs. Though she and Radha fell in the final over, RCB managed to cross the 180-run mark, which was enough to get a win. Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) staged a remarkable recovery after being in tatters in the Power-play to post 182/7 in 20 overs against Gujarat Giants in Match 9 of the Womens Premier League (WPL) 2026 clash at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday. The Ashleigh Gardner-led Gujarat Giants, who have four points currently, are seeking a win after suffering their first defeat of the season to MI. It was probably one of those games where we certainly werent at our best, particularly in the field. But to think that we pushed the Mumbai Indians so closely and nearly snuck across the line again in that final over, there are still plenty of positives, said Sophie in a chat with the broadcasters, ahead of the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the DY Patil Stadium here on Friday. I think the batting has been outstanding. We actually spoke about it post-game - weve been able to score big totals, but theyve all come in slightly different ways. Weve had real strengths in different phases, and different people keep standing up, which is a huge positive, she added. She also said the challenge of containing opposition line-ups on high-scoring surfaces is huge, but added that GG were building confidence within the group. With the ball, we know its always going to be tough on these kinds of wickets, quick outfield and short boundaries. So weve got to keep finding ways to restrict teams. It would be nice to have an easier game, but we know thats not going to be the case against RCB tonight. It really grows confidence within the group, she added. Devine singled out Anushka Sharmas composure at number three in the opening match as a boost to the squad and spoke of the enjoyment of opening the batting alongside Australia batter Beth Mooney. Even in the first game, the way Anushka went out there at No.3, it gives other players confidence that theyre good enough to be here and can perform at this level by backing their strengths. Im really enjoying batting with Moons (Mooney) again. Ive played a lot of cricket with her at the Perth Scorchers, and having someone at the other end youre really familiar with brings a lot of confidence and calmness to my game, she said. WPL 2026: Retire Out Is A Great Strategic Tool For Teams To Use In Terms Of Gaining Momentum, Says Devine

DY Patil Stadium: Gujarat Giants (GG) all-rounder Sophie Devine has thrown her weight behind the recent surge in retire out dismissals, which allows teams to strategically withdraw batters during an innings, adding that the rule should be viewed as a legitimate tactical weapon for teams to gain momentum in the match. The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 has seen GG batter Ayushi Soni and UP Warriorz's Harleen Deol being retired out. In 2026, eight retire-outs have been recorded across mens and womens T20 leagues so far. It's going to spark a fair bit of debate in terms of how people view it. For me, it's just another tool and another strategic option to use to be able to retire people out. At the end of the day, those decisions are always made with the team coming first and what's going to be best for the team to be able to gain momentum. So some people will love it, some people will hate it. I think it's a great option to be able to use, Devine told reporters in a virtual interaction on Thursday. She also emphasised the importance of players understanding the team-first philosophy behind such decisions. I hope that players who do get retired out can see that and see it in a positive light that they want to be able to contribute to the team, and they're doing what's best for the team. So it's a really tricky one because I guess it's never nice, but we will see more of it. We're obviously starting to see a little bit more in the men's game as well, and I think the women's game will follow suit. In saying that, if players are able to play at a good strike rate, you probably don't need to use it as much. So it is really interesting to see how different teams will use it, but I think to have that as an option is something that should only be seen as a positive, she said. Acknowledging that not every retire out decision would prove to be correct, Sophie said, You're not always going to get it right, and that's just like any decision in cricket, whether that be the bowler that you bring on or the shot that you choose to play, there's always going to be times where it comes off and it doesn't come off, and that's I guess just part and parcel of playing a game. We will see it come into the game more and more. But that's the great thing in seeing how teams use it and how they see it being of benefit to them is going to alter slightly, and that's, I guess, the exciting thing is how teams want to use it. Sophie further revealed her preference for the retire-out rule over the Impact Player rule used in mens T20 leagues. We don't have the impact player, which I'm probably more of a fan of being able to retire people out rather than having an impact player, because I like the idea that you can do all skills, or certainly bat, and still be able to go on the field. So it will be something that will become more and more common. When asked about the best approach to handling players who are retired out, Sophie stressed the critical role of clear communication before and after such decisions are taken. If I knew the best way to do it, I'm sure there'd be a lot of other people who would take it up absolutely. I think communication is really important, and understanding the reasoning behind why you would have retired someone out. I think that's what Maxy Klinger did, go up and speak to Ayushi about the reasoning why he made that decision. For me, as I said earlier, it's for the benefit of the team and putting the team first and what the team requires. So I think that needs to be really well communicated and making sure that there's some follow-up later on after the game or the next day, to explain again what can be done differently and opportunities to continue to be better. But I just think communication is so key, and it's not just in retiring players out. There are a lot of areas where I feel like clear communication can certainly help players have clarity around their role and what's required for them at different game situations, she said. Sophie also made a compelling case for adjusting fielding restrictions and boundary dimensions in women's cricket, arguing that current conditions have tilted the balance too far in favour of batters. There needs to be a serious look at the four fielders out rule. We are pretty close to going in line with the men and having five fielders out on the boundary. We've all seen the power that the women's game has now, and that I don't think having five fielders out would be a hindrance to the possibility and opportunities to score more runs. I also think the same about boundary sizes. Here they're fractionally too small. I mean, people are clearing the road by a long, long way, and the balance is distorted towards batters, especially when you're playing on wickets that are so flat and offering not too much for the bowlers. Acknowledging her dual perspective as both batter and bowler, Devine feels the aforementioned specific changes would benefit the format. So it's a hard one because I'm an all-rounder and as a batter, I love it - short boundaries and only four fielders out playing on absolute roads. But as a bowler, it's extremely challenging. So I do think that there needs to be a shift, and there are really easy wins that you can get there in terms of the five fielders out making a minimum boundary size, which should be around at least the 60-yard distance for me. Also Read: Live Cricket Score It sort of just becomes a bit of a highlights reel. So, there are some real opportunities there to make a little bit of a shift and ensure that it's still something that people want to watch. Yes, scoring boundaries is exciting, but I think cricket's a bit more nuanced than that, she concluded. Article Source: IANS

WPL 2026: Devine Credits Match-up Awareness And Execution In Smashing Rana For 32 Runs

DY Patil Stadium: Gujarat Giants (GG) all-rounder Sophie Devine has attributed her record-breaking smash of Delhi Capitals (DC) off-spinner Sneh Rana for 32 runs in the 2026 WPL to favourable match-ups and keeping things simple. In the WPL 2026 match between DC and GG at the DY Patil Stadium, which the latter won narrowly, Sophie smacked Sneh for two fours and four sixes to claim the record for the most expensive over in WPLs history. Incidentally, Sophie herself had scored 32 runs in an over off Sneh back in a T20I in Bengaluru in 2015. No, not at all. I think we've spoken a bit as a group around match-ups and who our best targets are. For me, off-spin was certainly the case. I guess the way that we started the innings and being able to be really aggressive and take them on, there was no set plan prior to that that we were going to have a real crack. I think that's the thing -- when I know I'm batting well, there's probably not too much thinking going on. So it's a plain thing of playing each ball on its merit. The over obviously went for a few, but for me, it's keeping things really simple. I know off-spin's a better match-up for me than it is to Beth, obviously, as a left-hander and the ball turning away. So unfortunately, it's as simple as that. There's no great magic trick to it. It was literally just a good match-up, and it came off on the day, said Sophie, while replying to a query from IANS, in a virtual roundtable by the franchise on Thursday. Sophie's impact wasn't limited to her explosive 95 off 42 balls with the bat. She returned to bowl the final over with DCC needing just seven runs, and took two crucial wickets to seal a thrilling victory for GG. You've always got to believe that you can achieve that and defend any total. For me, I felt like the pressure was probably not on us. I thought the game was in the bag for them, the way that they chased and got so close that they were the ones who needed to score the run. So for me, I knew if I kept things really simple -- attacking the stumps, taking pace off, and we were in with a shot. Obviously, a full toss first ball wasn't probably what I initially intended, trying to go for a yorker. But again, that's where it's so awesome, these competitions and being put in pressure situations, being able to work with Ash and having really clear plans of what we wanted to try and do. At the end of the day, I mean, you can plan, and you can try and do things, but unless you execute it. So I guess I was just really fortunate that I was able to execute that day. I mean, I was in a similar position last game and wasn't able to do it, and I think that's the great thing about cricket. It's a real leveller and can humble you pretty quickly. So it was certainly an exciting game for us. I mean, it would have been nice to have wrapped it up a little bit sooner, but I'm sure everyone hopefully enjoyed the entertainment, she explained about her mindset in that final over. Despite falling five runs short of what would have been the WPL's first century for the second time in the competition, Sophie remained characteristically focused on team objectives rather than personal landmarks. For me, milestones aren't as important as putting the team in a strong position to win. It doesn't make sense to slow down and play for numbers; it's about doing what's best for the team in that situation, she said. Sophie, who has scored 141 runs and picked up five wickets in GGs opening three matches, further praised several Indian players stepping up to be match-winners for the franchise in the ongoing competition. Franchise cricket is so fantastic for the world game. Overseas players love coming and experiencing, particularly here, the WPL, the conditions, and I guess the challenges that present themselves over here. But equally, the domestic and, I guess, the international players are key to it. In any franchise, it's the domestic players that can really make the difference. Overseas players cancel each other out; it's the local players who can be match-winners. Back to the game, Anushka and that brilliant piece of fielding, for her to be able to do that was, I think, a match-winning moment for us. So the importance of local players is huge. You've seen over the course of the WPL, not just this year, but the last couple of years, as the standard continues to improve. The domestic players have got the most room to grow and to be able to rub shoulders with overseas players. That's one of the great things about these tournaments, everyone is here to learn. It's not just experienced players sharing knowledge; it works both ways. A lot of these players have played far more cricket in Indian conditions than I have, she said. So the importance of local players is huge. You've seen over the course of the WPL, not just this year, but the last couple of years, as the standard continues to improve. The domestic players have got the most room to grow and to be able to rub shoulders with overseas players. Also Read: Live Cricket Score Renuka is world-class. She brings so much control and clarity with the new ball and in pressure overs. When you have someone like her leading the attack, it gives the rest of the bowling group a lot of confidence. She's calm, she understands her plans really well, and she's been a huge asset for us. Article Source: IANS

Gujarat Titans To Roll Out Junior Titans Programme In Five Cities Starting From Saturday

Indian Premier League: Even as Gujarat Titans (GT) kickstarted their preparations to grab the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 trophy through a camp in Nathdwara, the franchise is rolling out the third edition of Junior Titans, their flagship grassroots initiative starting from Saturday. Colonel Arvinder Singh, the franchises Chief Operating Officer (COO), said the initiative, which has engaged more than 10,000 children so far in 11 cities, will help more and more kids to get into more outdoor sporting activities. Singh also clarified that it should not be seen as a talent hunt to unearth the next Shubman Gill, Smriti Mandhana or Harmanpreet Kaur. It is purely aimed as a concept at motivating children - boys and girls - to come out and play, and not just play cricket. Play whatever you want, but do some physical activity. So it's not that we're not reaching out in the small cities to look for the next Shubman Gill. Certainly not - that's not our aim. Nor are we trying to teach them how to play cricket, nor are we telling them that you should play only cricket. We are just telling them to come out, do physical activity and play whichever sport. In doing so, we create a curator event for them in their own city, in one of the schools, where, in turn, children from various schools, both boys and girls, come. We encourage every school to send an equal number of boys and girls as far as possible to these events of ours, and provide those kinds of facilities there. Again, the intention is not that we're not trying to look for the next Shubman or Harman or Smriti, Singh told IANS in an exclusive conversation on Thursday. This year, the initiative will be in five cities Surendranagar (January 17), Morbi (January 24), Amreli (January 31), Anand (February 7), and before concluding in Ahmedabad on February 14. The idea is very simple to try and cover various regions of Gujarat every year. So if you kind of plot where we started from in the 2023 season, and where we are today, and what we will be covering this year, you will find that we like to go to different parts of Gujarat and not leave any part of Gujarat untouched. Like, at least the cities that feature in that tier one, two, three kind of nomenclature. So our intention is to cover every city in Gujarat as we move forward, added Singh. The idea is very simple to try and cover various regions of Gujarat every year. It's not just enough for you to just study and play on your gadgets. Physical activity is good for you in the overall scheme of things, and that's what we try to do, concluded Singh. IPL 2026: GT Camp In Nathdwara Crucial kickstart From A Cricketing Perspective, Says COO

Madan Paliwal Miraj Sports Centre: Gujarat Titans (GT) have begun their IPL 2026 preparations with an ongoing camp led by head coach Ashish Nehra and assistant coach Parthiv Patel at the Madan Paliwal Miraj Sports Centre in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Colonel Arvinder Singh, the franchises Chief Operating Officer (COO), said the ongoing camps purpose is to serve as a crucial cricketing kickstart for coaches and players free from their Vijay Hazare Trophy commitments. The likes of R Sai Kishore and Ashok Sharma have been spotted putting in the hard yards at GTs camp. That is purely a camp for our cricketers, like whoever was available at this point. We had 13 players available from teams who either did not qualify for the later stages of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, or after having finished that, came for the camp, maybe even just for a day or two. This is like the kickstart from a cricketing perspective for the team - the coaching staff and players getting together, and trying to get them to start thinking as GT all over again, Singh told IANS in an exclusive conversation on Thursday. GT sprung a surprise by winning the IPL in their debut season in 2022 and have established themselves as a consistent side, as seen from their entering the playoffs three times. The sides relaxed team environment has earned praise from former and current players, who have noted it as a refreshing change compared to the set-ups of other teams. GT came into being 14 years after the original eight franchises were already in place. Whether it's me, others, and on the management side, and even on the coaching side, we have a whole host of experienced people who have seen how this ecosystem called the IPL has grown from the beginning itself. Part of our learning was the fact that every team is good and everybody has the same amount of money to spend in the auction. Everybody tries to do their best on the field once you have a team in place. But how do you get the best out of these players, or at least create the conditions where they have nothing else to look at? The fact that they need to go out, practice, play, practice, play, repeat, play, and try and win for the franchise - in so doing, our collective intention as a franchise is to ensure that we make them feel a part of Gujarat Titans. Now, some call it, like we pamper them or things like that. But I can assure you, there's nothing like that. We just like to make them feel part of the franchise by taking care of anything big or small, which creates the right conditions for them not to have to worry about anything else. But also, make them be motivated enough to ensure that they're putting their best foot forward. Beyond that, there are no guarantees in sport; you can only create those conditions and put together a group of like-minded players and people to try and get the best out of them, explained Singh. He further spoke about the never give up attitude, defining GTs play in the IPL so far. Again, at the cost of being a little boastful, GT has been the most consistent team in the last four seasons. If you look at it from the time we came into being, we made the playoffs thrice, including being runners-up and champions once. We missed out on the playoffs only once in the last four years. There is no other franchise that has been as consistent as GT during this period. Again, it only speaks volumes of how the franchise conducts itself, and the players become part of the ecosystem of Gujarat Titans, as well as the entire support staff - that's all you can do at the end of the day. He further spoke about the never give up attitude, defining GTs play in the IPL so far. Again, at the cost of being a little boastful, GT has been the most consistent team in the last four seasons. If you look at it from the time we came into being, we made the playoffs thrice, including being runners-up and champions once. Also Read: Live Cricket Score That's how we also look at it - it's never over till it's over. So you put in your best and then, fortunately, this system has worked for us, and I see no reason why it should not continue to work for us, concluded Singh. Article Source: IANS
