Insider track | A simple pat, big ripples in the BJP
A small gesture from Amit Shaha brief pat on the back of a Union Minister during a victory dinner at JP Naddas residencehas set BJP circles buzzing louder than the Bihar win itself. The pat came after Nadda offered the minister sweets in appreciation of his role in helping the BJP emerge as the single largest party. The moment was witnessed by MPs and MLAs who worked on the campaign, and many now see the minister as a serious contender to eventually succeed Nadda as BJP president. At the same dinner, Nadda hand-fed sweets to Dharmendra Pradhan, Vinod Tawde and Keshav Prasad Mauryasignalling bigger organisational roles ahead. The evening, insiders say, doubled as both celebration and subtle messaging. AICC media wing in the firing line The Congress high command may be publicly introspecting after the Bihar debacle, but insiders say the first head on the chopping block is the AICC communication and media department. Many in the party believe the unit completely misread the Bihar momentpress meets were irregular, messaging was unclear, and social media outreach was barely visible. For several leaders, the loss was less an electoral setback than the final confirmation that the communication strategy had been running on fumes. Jairam Rameshs three-year stint as general secretary in charge of communication is nearing its end. Pawan Khera and Supriya Shrinate have been working with him. Whether the leadership opts for a sweeping restructuring or a cautious course correction remains to be seen. A few got it all wrong Despite clear instructions from PM Narendra Modi and Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan urging secretaries to amplify government schemes and citizen-centric programmes, a few newly appointed secretaries seem more focused on promoting themselves than their ministries. Particularly in a ministry led by a non-BJP minister, three secretaries recently splashed their own pictures across X and LinkedIncourtesy outsourced social-media handlers armed with AI-written posts riddled with errorsshowcasing mundane internal meetings of no public consequence. This self-branding spree, observers say, has raised eyebrows within senior bureaucracy. Instead of highlighting public-facing initiatives, these officers appear busy building their post-retirement portfolios. The big question floating in North Block corridors: when did government communication turn into an exercise in personal PR? Buzz on Gujarat model on liquor The buzz in JDU circles is that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar may be preparing to ease the states nine-year liquor ban. JDU leaders in Delhi are already in celebratory mode, with one senior leader admitting that election expenses shot up after the ban because liquor still had to be procured illegally for workers and voters. Nitish, however, is believed to be wary of antagonising women voters, so a total rollback is unlikely. Instead, he may emulate Gujarats dry but flexible modelcontrolled permits, alcohol allowed in top hotels, and regulated wine-and-dine zones for visitors. Liquor for medical reasons and hospitality-linked permits may also return. A key JDU leader coordinating with the BJP claims he has already nudged Nitish toward the Gujarat-style relaxation. 43 Heritage Bye-laws for over 50 monuments likely to be tabled in Parliament Winter Session
NEW DELHI: Drafts of at least 43 Heritage Bye-laws (HBLs) covering over 50 monuments readied by the National Monument Authority (NMA) are likely to be laid in Parliament during the winter session starting Monday. The documents will subsequently be put in the public domain to seek feedback. So far, 124 HBLs covering about 178 heritage sites have been placed before the both Houses of Parliament. (450) The drafts are approved in Parliament. In this session, we are planning to lay 43 HBLs covering 54 sites. The process, obviously, depends upon the session of Parliament. We have limited days; two days in a week. One day is for Lok Sabha, that is Monday, and Thursday is for Rajya Sabha. So, according to the business of Parliament, it is done, said an official, aware of the matter. The laws are to ensure that new construction and activities around protected sites comply with regulations for heritage conservation. The NMA prepares the draft bye-laws, and once approved by it, they are submitted to Parliament for their final endorsement. The drafts of monuments prepared this year include Triple shrined Temple of Bhavani (Ahmednagar, Maharashtra), Temple of Amriteshwar (Ahmednagar, Maharashtra), Fort and gateway excluding the ancient buildings and tomb of Bismillah Shah Wali (Kadapa District or YSR Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh), Nahar Jharokha compound, Rupmati Pavilion, Baz Bahadurs Palace, Darya Khans Tomb, and Hathi Mahal (Dhar, Madhya Pradesh), Kailasanatha Swamy temple (Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu), Bhimesvara temple (East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh), St Francis Church, Fort Kochi (Ernakulam, Kerala) and Fort including ancient temples (Jaisalmer, Rajasthan). To ensure speedy and transparent approval of construction and repair works in the vicinity of the protected historical sites, the NMA has expedited finalisation of HBLs for 141 monuments. The process is expected to be over within the next six months. Following the directions of the culture ministry to prioritise preparation of HBLs for monuments attracting the highest number of applications seeking permission for construction-related applications, the NMA identified 294 such heritage sites across the country. Out of the 294 identified monuments, bye laws of 151 are already completed, prepared or have been submitted before the Parliament. Most applications are received from Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi, where rapid urbanisation is taking place. Fewer applications for approvals are from Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and parts of the northeast. As mandated by the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act 2010, there should be separate bye-laws for all 3,693 heritage sites or monuments under the jurisdiction of ASI to regulate development and construction around protected monuments. These rules were to be framed by 2012. However, till January 2020, by-laws for only five monuments or sites were cleared and presented before the Parliament.

DK Shivakumar: The go-to man for the grand old party
In the turbulent battleground of Karnataka politics, 63-year-old Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar doesnt just make news, he commands them. A master strategist and the Congress partys organisational backbone, Shivakumar embodies an assertive brand of leadership. As one of the partys most reliable trouble-shooters, his strength lies in sharp political acumen, unwavering loyalty and an ability to bolster organisation at every level. Shivakumar is currently navigating a challenging phase of his chequered political journey, balancing governance responsibilities with mounting pressures inside the Congress fold and growing speculation over leadership equations in Karnataka. His struggle reflects a tug-of-war between ambition and political realities, as he attempts to assert his place without unsettling the very party he helped grow as a strong force. While political circles remain abuzz with speculation over an internal push for a leadership transition, both Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have publicly projected unity, reiterating that they will abide by the Congress high commands decision. Shivakumars political journey, beginning in the student movement of the 1980s, and later the Youth Congress, has been marked by resilience, ambition and rise. Building a strong grassroots base in Ramanagara district of Karnataka, he emerged as one of the most influential organisers in the Congress. Contesting his first assembly election in 1989 from Sathanur, Shivakumar has since won eight elections consecutivelythe first four from Sathanur and the next four from Kanakapura. His growing electoral might was evident in the 2023 Assembly polls, where he secured a massive victory margin of 1,22,392 votes with a 75% vote share. Despite legal battles and stretches of political uncertainty, Shivakumar climbed the party ladder undeterred. He went on to become KPCC president in 2020 and the Deputy Chief Minister in 2023. Over the decades, he has held several key portfolios, entering the cabinet for the first time in 1990 as minister of prisons and home guards. He later served as minister of urban development (1999-2004), energy minister (2014-2018), and minister for major irrigation and medical education (2018-2019). Currently, as Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president, Shivakumar holds the pivotal portfolios of water resources and Bengaluru city development. His legal troubles began in 2017 when the income-tax department raided his premises, leading to an Enforcement Directorate probe into alleged money laundering and tax evasion. He was arrested by the ED in October 2019, a move he repeatedly termed politically motivated. In March 2024, the Supreme Court quashed the 2018 money laundering case, citing legal inconsistencies, handing him major relief. The relief has shifted both political momentum and perception, with many within the Congress rank-and-file viewing it as a turning point in his bid to get the top job. As KPCC chief, he steered the Congress to a resounding victory in the 2023 assembly polls, employing aggressive organisational rebuilding, micro-level booth management and crisis-handling strategies. His role in safeguarding Congress MLAs in Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra during political turbulence earned him a national reputation as the partys most reliable shield. Some of the leaders describe him as a master at reading complex political situations, managing crises and building alliances which makes him a pivotal figure in Karnatakas power dynamics. Shivakumar has a remarkable skill to mobilise party workers, strengthen grassroot networks and maintain unity in the party even during critical moments, they add. In governance, Shivakumar has sponsored several large-scale initiatives. As minister for water resources, he pushed major irrigation and drinking-water projects including the Yettinahole Drinking Water Project, Cauvery Phase-V expansion, and irrigation network expansion across Karnataka. As Bengaluru development minister, he is currently leading Indias first city tunnel mobility network, fixing over 2,700 potholes, strengthening storm-water systems to prevent flooding, and facilitating over 4,400 EV charging stations, positioning Bengaluru as Indias EV capital. Today, he stands as one of Karnatakas most prominent political figureshis journey defined by persistence, loyalty and a consistent ability to convert challenges into stepping stones. According to sources, momentum is building among a section of party legislators rallying behind him, with some travelling to Delhi to press for a change of guard. Several senior leaders have indicated they would support his elevation if the high command approves. With political developments accelerating, Shivakumar has emerged as the leading contender for the Chief Ministers post, backed both by a faction of the state legislature party and influential voices in Delhi. But his ascension rests entirely on the decision of the partys top leadership, mainly Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Rajasthan HC orders 15 per cent female drivers on ride apps, issues 35 directives to curb cybercrime
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court has directed the state government to substantially increase the number of women drivers on app-based ride-booking platforms, ordering that at least 15% of all such drivers must be women within the next six months, with the target rising to 25% over the following two to three years. The court also stated that ride-hailing apps should give women passengers the option to choose a woman driver as their first preference. The directive is part of a comprehensive set of 35 instructions issued by Justice Ravi Chirania, who described cybercrime as an unstoppable and rapidly escalating threat. The court has asked the government to establish a Rajasthan Cyber Crime Control Centre, similar to the Union governments Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). It noted that although the post of Director General, Cyber Crimes, was created in 2024, the state still does not have an adequate system to investigate or respond to cyber-related offences. The order came while the court was hearing bail pleas of two men from Gujarat, accused of posing as law-enforcement officers and cheating an elderly couple of 2.02 crore earlier this year. Both are currently lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail, and their bail applications were rejected. Among the major directives, the High Court instructed telecom authorities to introduce strict verification before issuing a fourth SIM card to any individual. It also asked the government to monitor dead or inactive bank accounts closely and to redo their KYC through physical verification. Banks and financial institutions have also been told to suspend or deny internet banking services to accounts flagged as suspicious or to those that have recorded less than 50,000 in annual transactions over the past three years. The court further ordered that all gig workers operating in Rajasthan be brought under a formal registration system with the office of the Director General, Cyber Crimes. From 1 February next year, gig workers will be required to wear a uniform or follow a dress code, carrying a QR-coded ID card, which they must present whenever demanded by authorities or customers. The court also made it mandatory for all gig workers to be registered with the state Transport Department and to operate using commercial number plates. Additionally, the sale and purchase of second-hand digital devices will come under tighter scrutiny, and schools have been asked to implement a clear standard operating procedure regarding mobile phone usage for students up to Class 9 or those below 16 years of age.

Myanmar nationals 'misused' GST credentials of Indians for cross-border drugs trafficking: ED
NEW DELHI: Investigation into a cross-border narcotics trafficking racket has found that Myanmarese nationals misused GST credentials of Indians to facilitate purchase of raw material required for manufacturing drugs, the ED said. The federal probe agency had conducted its first-ever searches along the India-Myanmar border on November 27 following registration of a money laundering case into a drugs trafficking case of Mizoram. Locations across Aizawl and Champhai (along India-Myanmar border) in Mizoram, Sribhumi (Karimganj) in Assam and Ahmedabad in Gujarat were raided under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). India shares a 1,643-km-long front with Myanmar on its eastern side. Evidence gathered during the searches indicated that Indians procured Pseudoephedrine tablets and Caffeine Anhydrous on behalf of Myanmar nationals, enabling trans-border drug production and trafficking apart from money laundering, the Enforcement Directorate said in a statement issued on Friday. Probe found, the ED said, the misuse of GST credentials belonging to Indian nationals by Myanmar nationals to facilitate the purchase of raw materials essential for the manufacture of Methamphetamine tablets. Additionally, evidence indicates that Indians procured Pseudoephedrine tablets and Caffeine Anhydrous on behalf of Myanmar nationals, enabling the cross-border drug production and trafficking network and laundered money in this process, it said. This scheme supported the supply chain of narcotics manufacturing, particularly affecting the porous Indo-Myanmar border regions like Mizoram, with financial and smuggling links spanning multiple Indian states and money laundering through these activities, according to the agency. Cash of Rs 46.7 lakh was seized from certain Hawala operatives and others and the agency froze 21 bank accounts during the raids. The ED case stems from a Mizoram Police FIR into the seizure of 4.72 kg of heroin worth Rs 1.41 crore from six people.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: The Womens Premier League (WPL) 2026 will kick off with a marquee clash between two-time champions Mumbai Indians and 2024 winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 9, announced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday. The Navi Mumbai leg will be held from January 9-17, and will host 11 matches before the action shifts to Vadodara for the remaining 11 fixtures, including the Playoffs. Gujarat Giants will open the Vadodara leg with a clash against RCB, followed by a rematch of the 2025 final between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. Once the league stage concludes on February 1, the Eliminator, contested by the second and third-placed sides, will be held on February 3, while the table topper advances directly to the final on February 5. It will cap off a crowded time, as the mens Under-19 World Cup will happen on February 6, while the mens T20 World Cup starts on February 7. Domestic dilemma: Not a November to remember for Keralas tourism industry
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Wake me up when November ends! With domestic arrivals remaining unusually low despite the onset of the traditional peak season, Keralas tourism industry has hit a sour note. According to stakeholders, bookings and occupancy have plunged by 40%, making this one of the worst Novembers for the sector in recent memory. Munnar, one of the states most sought after hill stations year round, mirrors the crisis. Insiders say vacationers are skipping Kerala this season, with occupancy hovering around 40% and picking up only on weekends. In previous years, November occupancy levels ranged from 70-75%, making the current slump particularly alarming as the sector heads into the Christmas-New Year rush. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat remain the key domestic source markets for Kerala. In 2024, Kerala received around 2.2 crore domestic tourists. I have been in the industry for 25 years, and this is one of the worst seasons ever. November is normally the peak, but this year there is a slump in both inbound and outbound arrivals, said Anish Kumar P K, executive committee member, Association of Tourism Trade Organisations, India. Last year, over three crore Indians travelled abroad, while only around 93 lakh foreign tourists visited India. This gap is hurting tourism. High airfares are a major reason, and both the Centre and state should take steps to address it, he said. Director of Stride Hotels Pvt Ltd Sudhish Nair said Munnar has never witnessed such a steep drop in occupancy. Munnar has never seen such subdued season There is no steady flow of tourists. We are getting bookings only on weekends. We have reservations for the week from December 24-31, but otherwise there is no consistent inflow. Munnar has never seen such a subdued season, he said. He added that occupancy in Munnar normally stays between 75% and 90% during this period, making the current slump unprecedented. Observers say this years dip in arrivals may be linked to the Kumbh Mela, with many travellers exhausting their annual outings. As per our analysis, the Kumbh Mela could be a reason for the decline in arrivals, as scores of people from across the country travelled for the event. Another major factor are the high airfares. Kerala is increasingly becoming an expensive destination. Hotel occupancy is now only around 50%. There are plenty of enquiries for the Christmas-New Year period, but they are not converting into bookings because of steep airfares, said Manu P V, member of the Tourism Advisory Board and the Kerala Travel Mart managing committee.

He also inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa, located in front of the Krishna sanctum, and dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha (golden cover) for the sacred Kanakana Kindi, a sacred window through which the saint Kanakadasa is believed to have had the divine darshan of Lord Krishna. During his address at the event, PM Modi hailed Bharatiya Janata Party's predecessor, Jan Sangh's good governance model in Udupi, after reciting shlokas from the Bhagwat Gita along with one lakh devotees at the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana event at Sri Krishna Matha here. Addressing the gathering, the prime minister recalled the work of former Karnataka MLA VS Acharya in Udupi. Coming to Udupi is very special for me. Udupi has been the karmabhoomi of the Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janta Party's model of good governance. In 1968, the people of Udupi elected VS Acharya of the Jana Sangh to the Udupi Municipal Corporation, he said, With this, Udupi laid the foundation of a new governance model. The cleanliness drive we are witnessing today was adopted by Udupi five decades ago. Udupi began to develop a model of water supply and drainage system in the 70s, he added. Modi said that the world witnessed India's divinity as one lakh people recited shlokas from the Bhagwat Gita. The world has witnessed India's divinity as one lakh people together recited shlokas from the Bhagwat Gita... When one lakh people recited the shlokas and divine words echo in one place, the energy released gives new strength to our minds and bodies. Drawing a connection between Udupi and Dwarka in Gujarat, PM Modi hailed the founder of the Math, Jagadguru Madhwaachaarya.

In his inaugural address, Governor of Haryana, Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh said, “ Private sector plays a pivotal role in elevating the standard of school education in our country. Of about 14.72 lakh schools in India, there are 3.40 lakh private schools which account for 23% of the total schools. I strongly feel that an organization like FAP must come forward in ensuring the children from weaker sections of society have their fair representation in private schools as well which will further promote equity and inclusiveness in education .” “ Our progress in education also reflects the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji under whom historic reforms have strengthened India's position as a global education hub. The PM Shree scheme has modernized over 4,500 schools providing world class infrastructure and access. The National Education Policy has placed research, innovation, and knowledge at the center of learning. As a result, India's ranking in the Global Innovation Index has improved from 81 in 2014 when Prime Minister Modi ji had come to power to 39 in 2025 which is a remarkable achievement. Patent filings have grown up by 31% and India now ranks 4th globally with 1.3 million academic research publications in the last five years. The government's decision to reduce patent application fee is by 80% for institutions has accelerated this change ,” the Governor added. Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh further said, “ Moreover, the education budget has risen from Rs 79,451 Crore in 2014 to a historic figure of Rs Rs 1,28,650 Crore in 2025-26. As we honor today's achievers let us reaffirm our collective commitment to shaping a brighter more innovative and inclusive future for India's children .” Commending the award recipients for their significant contributions in shaping the minds of the youth, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor of Chandigarh University, said, “ As an educationist, I can say that whatever change that has come in the society has come because of teachers. Our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s has given the vision of a Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat by 2047. I am sure the biggest role in realizing this vision will be played by the provided educational institutions and private school teachers because it is not possible for government to do everything or even fulfil the need of quality education which is being fulfilled by the private institutions for making this vision a reality. So today India has emerged from the 11th largest economy in the world to become the fourth largest economy. Even children from the poorest of the poor backgrounds can touch the heights of progress with the power of education. Five years ago, no one had thought that private schools would get the same honor and respect as government schools. Which has been possible through these FAP Awards. ” “ Children from the poorest of backgrounds can touch the skies of progress with the power of education. Affectionate and devoted teachers play the most important role in giving strength to the flight of children. The new National Education Policy 2020 aims to make India a Global Knowledge Superpower. Our educational institutions and teachers have to contribute actively in school education, higher education and skill education to achieve this goal. I am sure our teachers will establish India as a Global Knowledge Superpower with their crucial contribution ,” he added. Dr G Immanuel, Chairman of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) said, “ Now around the world now there is a lot of competition happening and every school education board is trying to compete from with other board. The best practices are being transferred easily. Most of the boards are going for STEAM education now. Earlier, STEM education which means Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education was followed. Now, to this we added Art. Art is very important because Art is part of everything. In STEM education, Art is being added to make it more collaborative, more useful for everybody .” Warning against the dangers of digital information, Dr G Immanuel said, “ Learning doesn't happen and only within the school premises in the schools, colleges or universities. It happens everywhere anyway with lots of information freely flowing. Now one has to regulate this. Unless we regulate this information to decide which information should be taken in and which information should not be taken in, it may affect and cause a problem. Therefore, as educators we need to reach out to the children and have some regulatory system as unregulated information may cause a lot of havoc for everybody. Now, digital information is causing problems for everybody. There are countries and universities around the world who are going back to physical books and physical way of teaching because e-books, smart boards, they are causing lot of problems. ” In his address, President of FAP Dr Jagjit Singh Dhuri said, “ Private schools are playing a pivotal role in school education. But despite this, the contribution of private schools in India’s transformation in the education sector was ignored and the teachers at private schools were not given due recognition for the crucial role they are playing in providing quality education with utmost dedication and hard work. So, the purpose of FAP awards is to give due recognition to private schools and their teachers in society with these awards. This initiative not only recognizes the efforts of private schools who have reached the pinnacles but also encourages other schools to compete for achievements in the fields of academics, sports, cultural heritage, infrastructure and facilities .” “ We are honoured that FAP has become the only educational federation in the world to award 11001 management members, principals, teaching and non-teaching staff and students from across India with FAP National Awards between 2021 to 2025 for achievements in academic, sports and cultural domains at no financial cots to any recipient. The award for this record was presented to us today by Dr Aravind Lakshminarayanan, CEO of Nobel World Records Private Limited, during inauguration of the 5th edition of the FAP National Awards 2025 which is matter of great joy and satisfaction for us ,” he added. NEW DELHI: A fresh round of onshore and offshore expeditions at ancient heritage sites in Gujarats Dwarka and Bet Dwarka has begun. A team of the Underwater Archaeology Wing (UAW) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), led by its Additional Director-General (ADG) Professor Alok Tripathi, is carrying out fieldwork near the 56 Seedhi (steps) in the vicinity of Gomti Ghat, an area known for its archaeological significance. Due to the unavailability of open space around the Dwarkadheesh Temple, the excavation is currently being undertaken in a limited area, said Tripathi. The team comprises officials of ASI from different states. 56 Seedhi is the flight of steps leading from the Gomti River to the Dwarkadhish Temple's rear entrance. The primary objective of this excavation is to document the archaeological remains and scientifically study the antiquity of the site, Tripathi added. Earlier in February-March, the team conducted initial surveys to examine the sites. Considering the significance of the site, a year-long permission was granted to the UAW for undertaking this investigation. The fresh attempt to study underwater archaeology in the state assumes significance as in February 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went scuba diving off the Panchkui beach coast to perform prayers at ancient Dwarka city, belonging to Lord Krishna, which is submerged in the waters. As part of the study, the plan included covering an extended area in Okhamandal. In February 2025, a five-member ASI team investigated south of the Gomti Creek, located on the eastern side of Dwarka. The fieldwork aimed to inspect previously explored locations and assess current conditions. Based on preliminary studies, potential areas were identified for further investigation, said Tripathi. Prior to this, in 2007, a small area near the northern gate of the Dwarkadheesh Temple was excavated. The excavation was carried out meticulously to document antiquities in situ. A deposit measuring 10 metres in depth, comprising 26 layers, was excavated. Antiquities recovered from this limited excavation included iron objects, beads, copper items, rings, and other artefacts. In addition, pottery recovered during the excavation was thoroughly examined.
RAIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of police on 29-30 November at the Indian Institute of Management, Nava Raipur. The three-day conference, scheduled to commence from November 28 (Friday) aims to review the progress achieved in addressing key policing challenges so far and to outline a forward-looking roadmap for building a Surakshit Bharat in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. Held under the overarching theme Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions, the conference will host detailed deliberations on key security issues such as left-wing extremism, counter terrorism, disaster management, womens safety, and the use of forensic science and artificial intelligence in policing. The PM will also confer the Presidents Police Medals for Distinguished Service. According to the senior officials, the M1 and M11 sections of the newly constructed Speaker House in Naya Raipur have been designated as the vital nerve centre, serving as the stay for the PM Modi and union home minister Amit Shah. The conference will be attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Ministers of State (Home Affairs), DGPs of States/UTs and Heads of Central Police Organisations. The conference will be a vital interactive platform for senior police officials and security administrators from across the country to engage in open and meaningful exchanges on a wide range of national security issues. It also facilitates the discussion of operational, infrastructural, and welfare-related challenges faced by the Police forces, along with the formulation and sharing of professional practices in addressing crime, maintaining law and order, and responding to internal security threats. PM Modi has consistently taken a keen interest in such annual conferences, encouraging candid discussions and fostering an environment where fresh ideas on policing can emerge. Business sessions, break-out interactions and thematic dining table discussions offer participants an opportunity to share their perspectives directly with the Prime Minister on critical internal security and policy matters. Since 2014, the format of the DGP/IG Conference has undergone continuous upgradation under the PMs guidance, including hosting it at diverse locations across the country. The conference has so far been held in Guwahati (Assam), Rann of Kutch (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Tekanpur (Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh), Statue of Unity (Kevadiya, Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), New Delhi and Jaipur (Rajasthan) and Bhubaneswar (Odisha). Continuing this tradition, the 60th Conference is being organized this year in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
