Ambition, focus: A navy mans tireless march to movie stardom
KOLLAM: Jayan is a Malayali movie icon who continues to live on in the hearts of millions, even 41 years after his untimely demise. Yet, few are aware of the legendary actors stint as a navyman a chapter of his life that remains largely unexplored. Speaking to TNIE, former chief petty officer G K Pillai, Jayans fellow seaman for nearly four years, offered a rare glimpse into this lesser-known side of the famed thespian. M Krishnan Nair or M K Nair to his naval colleagues, Jayan joined the Navy through the cadet entry scheme in the 1950s. According to Pillai, Jayan aspired to be a commissioned officer a dream he pursued relentlessly but was unable to fulfil. Jayan worked hard towards becoming a commissioned officer. However, the Navys rules at the time did not permit sailors in the engineering, electrical and electronics department to rise to the commissioned ranks. His attempts to switch to the executive branch, where such promotions were possible, proved unsuccessful. Yet, Jayan never lost hope and remained focused on building a successful life for himself. He was also a smart NCC cadet during his school days, Pillai recalls. Pillai remembers Jayan as a multifaceted individual with exceptional talents. He was a sharp shooter, a fitness enthusiast, and an accomplished athlete who won prizes in Navy competitions. Jayan also excelled as a forward in the Navigation and Direction Schools football team. The competition was fierce due to the Navys policy of directly recruiting engineering graduates as trainee officers in the engineering, electrical, and electronics branches. This disappointment eventually pushed him to pursue a career in cinema. While posted at INS Venduruthy in Kochi during the late 1960s, Jayan made several attempts to break into Malayalam cinema. Though initially unsuccessful, he persisted, recounts Pillai. Jayan reached out to Pillai for help. Pillai facilitated a meeting with legendary actor Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair, who introduced Jayan to Malayalam cinema. I took him to Thikkurissys home at Jawahar Nagar, in Thiruvananthapuram, and introduced him. Thikkurissy promised to recommend Jayan to cinema producers. A few days later, he took Jayan to Merryland Studios and requested the late Subramaniam to offer him a role. Jayans persistence paid off, and he eventually achieved his dream of becoming an actor, Pillai reminisced. Jayan underwent two years of initial training at INS Circars, Visakhapatnam, followed by professional training at INS Valsura, Jamnagar, specialising in electrical and electronics equipment. He was trained in radio, radar, sonar, and wireless systems in the radio branch. Upon completing his EMR course, Jayan was posted at the Navigation and Direction Training School at INS Venduruthy. He later served on board INS Rana and INS Mysore. Before retiring as a master chief petty officer in 1972, he was stationed at the TAS School at INS Venduruthy.

Union government sanctions first all-women reserve battalion for CISF
NEW DEKHI: A first-ever all-women CISF reserve battalion comprising more than 1,000 personnel has been sanctioned by the Union government keeping in mind the burgeoning duties of the force at airports and other vital installations. Officials told PTI that the unit will be raised from within the sanctioned manpower of the force of about two lakh personnel. The Union home ministry issued a sanction order this week approving an exclusive women reserve unit in the force with a total strength of 1,025 personnel led by a senior commandant-rank officer, they said. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has 12 reserve battalions under its establishment at present. As the name suggests, these units are kept in reserve and used as reinforcement when the force gets a new job like temporary duties of conducting elections and permanent tasks of guarding an installation like the Parliament House complex that came under CISF cover this year, an official said. The force has a huge women interface at facilities like the 68 civil airports that it guards, the Delhi Metro and historical monuments like the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. The force had projected a requirement of having an all-women reserve battalion which has been recently sanctioned, a home ministry official said. Apart from these installations, the 1969-raised CISF provides a counter-terrorist security cover to a number of facilities in the nuclear and aerospace domain apart from those in the private sector like the Infosys offices in Bengaluru and Pune, Reliance refinery in Jamnagar (Gujarat), among others.

Temple theft cases surge in Gujarat
AHMEDABAD: In Gujarat, a surge in burglaries is hitting not only homes left vacant during Diwali vacations but also temples, according to government data. Over the past three years, thieves have stolen a total of Rs 4.93 crore in cash and valuables from temples across the state. Gujarat reported 501 temple theft incidents: 151 temples were targeted in 2020-21, 178 in 2021-22, and 172 in 2022-23. In addition, there were five armed robberies in temples, intensifying concerns over temple security statewide. Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hiren Banker criticized the government, saying the incidents of looting and theft in temples, which hold deep significance for Gujaratis, are being met with little more than promises of CCTV installations by the home department. Is the BJP, which campaigns in Gods name, only concerned with securing votes? he asked. Even during Navratri, incidents of assault on women occur and illegal activities like bootlegging and drug trade operate openly. The reality is the state police is facing a severe shortage of personnel, with the number of police personnel falling below the national average, Banker said. Private residential homes too are the target. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Gujarat has witnessed a troubling surge in home burglaries and robberies over recent years, underscoring persistent challenges in crime prevention. Nighttime burglaries have consistently overshadowed daytime incidents. In 2017, there were 3,957 burglaries reported at night, but by 2022, that number fell to 2,936. Daytime burglaries also saw a decrease, from 440 cases in 2017 to 359 in 2022. However, the overall burglary rate per lakh population fluctuated, peaking at 6.9 in 2017, dropping to 3.9 in 2020, and rising again to 4.6 in 2022. Robberies showed a mixed pattern, with 1,277 cases in 2017, which dropped significantly to 498 in 2020, before stabilizing at around 575 cases in 2022. Over the six-year period from 2017 to 2022, Gujarat recorded a total of 18,453 night burglaries, 2,489 day burglaries, and 5,428 robberies, reflecting ongoing security concerns for residents across the state. The state government at present controls 13 temples in Gandhinagar district,13 in Valsad district, eight in Rajkot district, 16 in Porbandar district, four of Surat district and one temple each in Junagadh, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Mehsana and Banaskantha districts. These include the ancient temples at Somnath, Dwarkadhish and Akshardham. The security of the temples is a tricky task given the strength of the police force as well as encroachments around such places. The Somnath temple in Veraval, Gujarat is one of the richest temples in India, with a net worth of around Rs 100 crore: The Somnath temple in Gujarat is heavily protected by police and has a Z+ security grade. Non-Hindus need prior permission to enter the temple due to security concerns and to protect the sanctity of the religious place.

Gujarat emerges as key avian biodiversity hub with over 50,000 birds, reveals 2023-24 report
AHMEDABAD: Gujarat has emerged as a significant hub for avian biodiversity, hosting over 50,000 local and migratory birds, as revealed in the recently released 'Bird Diversity Report: 2023-24.' The report highlights Devbhoomi Dwarka as the top region in terms of species diversity, with an impressive 456 bird species recorded. Meanwhile, Kutch leads in bird population, with more than 4.56 lakh birds flocking to the region. Nal Sarovar, a major attraction, has been identified as the top hotspot, drawing over 3.62 lakh birds. In total, the survey documented over 300 distinct bird species across the state. The Gujarat government on Monday unveiled the 'Bird Diversity Report: 2023-24,' revealing that the state is home to an estimated 18 to 20 lakh birds. The report underscores Gujarat's status as a key destination for avian species, showcasing the region's rich biodiversity. Other notable regions contributing significantly to the state's bird population include Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, and Banaskantha. The release of the report comes as India gears up for Wildlife Conservation Week, set to be observed from October 2 to 8. The timing highlights the nation's focus on biodiversity conservation ahead of the upcoming week of celebrations and initiatives. The findings further cement Gujarats pivotal role in bird conservation. The report underscored the significance of regions like Jamnagar, Kutch, and Ahmedabad as key areas for bird conservation, with wetlands such as Nal Sarovar and Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary playing pivotal roles in sustaining avian populations. The extensive bird survey, conducted in collaboration with the eBird platform, documented over 300 species. Data from 398 eBird checklists contributed to the comprehensive findings, highlighting the states rich avian diversity. The report reveals that Kutch recorded 161 bird species with a total population of 4.56 lakh birds, while Jamnagar reported 221 species and 4.11 lakh birds. Ahmedabad also made a notable contribution, documenting 256 species and 3.65 lakh birds. These figures emphasize the critical role these regions play in sustaining Gujarat's bird population.
Gujarat Administration Demolishes Illegal Religious Structures Near Somnath Temple
Somnath: On September 28, 2024, the Gujarat administration conducted a demolition operation that targeted illegal religious structures, including a mosque, graveyard, and dargah, located near the revered Somnath Temple. The operation involved the deployment of 36 JCBs, 70 tractors, 5 Hitachi machines, 10 dumpers, and a force of 1,400 policemen, as reported by Desh Gujarat, a local news organization. This initiative was taken in response to illegal encroachments and unlawfully constructed religious structures in Prabhas Patan, Gir Somnath district, in proximity to the Somnath Mandir. A significant gathering of members from the minority community witnessed the operation as heavy machinery moved to dismantle the structures. Although the operation proceeded peacefully, authorities detained over 70 individuals for protesting and moving into restricted areas. Key officials present included the district collector, the Inspector General, three Superintendents of Police, six Deputy Superintendents of Police, and fifty police inspectors and sub-inspectors. An independent media organization, The Observer Post, circulated a video claiming that bulldozers were used to demolish mosques, graveyards, and dargahs in Prabhas Patan Veraval in Somnath. The demolition began early in the morning, around 4 AM. Illegal religious structures on government lands have become a common sight in Gujarat, particularly in coastal regions like Somnath. Historically, Somnath faced repeated raids by Mahmud of Ghazni, who aimed to humiliate Hindus by destroying the presiding deitys idol and dispersing its fragments to various locations. The infamous plunder of the Somnath Temple attracted other Islamic invaders, leading to the construction of illegal structures alongside these religious shrines over time. Past demolition drives by the Gujarat administration in coastal areas such as Bet Dwarka, Porbandar, and Jamnagar have targeted encroachments, land grabbing, and activities posing threats to national security, including drug trafficking and smuggling. Rise in fake officials, fraudulent organisations in Gujarat: A growing concern
AHMEDABAD: Recent reports indicate a troubling rise in incidents involving fake organisations and counterfeit officials in Gujarat. Over the past 24 months, more than 19 such cases have been uncovered, with Suratoften referred to as Gujarat's diamond cityemerging as a hotspot for these fraudulent activities. In just the last two months, three individuals were apprehended in Surat for impersonating officials: Himanshu Rai, posing as a customs officer; Pradeep Patel, who claimed to be an IPS officer; and Tarun Bhatt, identified as a fake CID officer. In a revealing report released by the Gujarat Congress, it has been alleged that over 19 cases of fake officials and fraudulent institutions have surfaced in the state over the past 24 months. The findings highlight a concerning trend of impersonation and deceit among various individuals posing as legitimate authorities, particularly in regions like Surat and beyond. Among the notable incidents, Himanshu Rai, a fake customs officer from Varachha in Surat, was apprehended in September 2024. Other arrests included Prakash Nayak, a fraudulent Deputy Collector from Bayad Taluka in Aravalli District, and Hiteshwarsinh Mori, a BJP corporator from Surendranagar Municipality, who was caught impersonating a CBI officer. In August 2024, Bharat Chhabda, posing as a Central Agency officer, was reported to have scammed individuals by showcasing photos with BJP leaders. Additionally, in Surat, Pradeep Patel was arrested for impersonating an IPS officer, while Tarun Bhatt was identified as a fake CID officer, harassing women in the area. In April 2024, Suresh Ghosh was arrested for impersonating a Home Ministry official. Congress Spokesperson Hiren Banker said, The report also highlights various other scams, including a fake school in Maliyasan village of Kuwadwa Taluka, Rajkot, which came to light in July 2024. Other cases include a fake PSI named Mayur Tadvi training at Karai in March 2023, and Kiran Patel and Sanjay Serpuria, a fraudulent PMO officer who exploited connections with high-ranking BJP officials. In August 2023, multiple cases of impersonation came to light involving individuals posing as officials from various governmental agencies. Lavkush Dwivedi, who claimed to be a CMO officer, was found to have photos circulating with prominent BJP leaders, raising questions about his legitimacy. Additionally, Nikunj Patel, also masquerading as a CMO officer, was implicated in recommending the release of an accused individual to the Jamnagar police, further complicating the investigation, Banker claimed. The report also highlighted the fraudulent activities of Omveer Singh, who posed as an officer from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Gunjan Kantaria, impersonating a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer. These alarming incidents illustrate a growing trend of deception within Gujarat, undermining the trust in legitimate government institutions. Notably, in October, it was revealed that a massive embezzlement of 21.15 crore occurred through a fake administrative office in Bodeli, Dahod district. The alarming trend of fake officials, such as Neha Patel, a fake Deputy Collector in Mandvi Taluka, and Viraj Patel, came to light. In November 2023, Punyadev Rai was arrested for impersonating an officer of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Gandhinagar. A fraudulent CMO officer, accused of raping a woman in Vadodara, underscores a systemic issue in Gujarat where innocent citizens are being victimised by these scams. Extensive urban development, altered elevations worsened flooding in Gujarat: IIT-GN study
AHMEDABAD: An analysis of recent flooding in parts of Gujarat showed that it was caused by severe weather conditions and exacerbated by extensive urban development, altered elevations and compromised drainage patterns, researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) have said. Parts of Gujarat witnessed flooding due to heavy rains between August 20 and 29. During this period, 15 out of the 33 districts in the state recorded three-day rainfall totals exceeding their 10-year return period - a statistical measure indicating the average interval between such intense events - with Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Rajkot experiencing levels above their 50-year thresholds, the analysis showed. The recurrence of unusual weather events along India's western coast, such as the one witnessed last week, highlights the urgent need to reassess urban planning and infrastructure resilience. Gujarat floods a man-made disaster, says research centre This scenario underscores the need for robust and scalable emergency response strategies that can handle the complexities of concurrent extreme events, researchers at IIT Gandhinagar's Machine Intelligence and Resilience Laboratory (MIR Lab) said. As rapid urbanisation continues to modify regional and local hydrology, placing greater strain on drainage systems, it is crucial to keep hydrology at the core of urban development strategies, the researchers observed. Vadodara, which grappled with severe flooding after heavy rains last week, suffered from the situation despite rains not being unprecedented in magnitude, the IIT-GN research said. However, the flooding was likely exacerbated by extensive urban development in flood-prone areas, altered elevations, and drainage patterns compromised due to rapid urbanisation and clogged drainage systems, it said. This situation is a classic example of concurrent extreme events, where multiple regions experience severe weather simultaneously. Such concurrence complicates emergency response and evacuation efforts as resources become stretched across multiple affected areas, the study said. Demands for rescue, relief, and evacuation operations in such a scenario can overwhelm emergency services, making it more challenging to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs of those impacted by the floods, it said. This underscores the need for robust and scalable emergency response strategies that can handle the complexities of concurrent extreme events, it added. The analysis of maximum rainfall during this period revealed that Gujarat's Devbhumi Dwarka and Morbi in the state's Saurashtra region experienced rainfall over a one-day period last week that surpassed their 50-year eturn period (with Dwarka exceeding 100-year period). Twelve of the state's 33 districts experienced one-day rainfall totals that exceeded the 10-year return period, it said. The situation became even more critical over two-day periods, with 17 districts exceeding the 10-year return period, including Jamnagar, Morbi, and Devbhumi Dwarka, where rainfall surpassed 50-year return levels, according to the researchers. Additionally, 15 districts recorded three-day rainfall totals exceeding the 10-year return period, with Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Rajkot all experiencing levels above their 50-year thresholds. MHA constitutes central team to assess damage caused by floods in Gujarat Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar, Udit Bhatia, said the granularity of the available data may not fully capture the nuances of urban flooding, which often results from short-duration, high-intensity rainfalls that overwhelm city drainage systems. When rainfall persists for longer durations, the soil becomes saturated during the initial spells, and subsequent rainfall is more likely to contribute directly to surface runoff. This runoff exacerbates flooding, especially when drainage systems are either incapacitated or unhealthy, said Bhatia, who is the Principal Investigator at the MIR Lab.
IMD predicts above-normal rainfall in September
NEW DELHI: Like in August, the country is likely to experience above normal rainfall in September with heavy to very heavy precipitation expected in the northwest and surrounding areas, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. Most parts of the country will also record above normal temperature in September. There is an indication of delay in monsoon retreat as multiple systems are likely to emerge which will cause heavy rainfall, the IMD said. The met department predicted September rainfall at 109% of the long-period average. However, below-normal rainfall is likely in some parts of extreme northwest India, south peninsula, north Bihar, northeast UP and most parts of northeast. India received 7% above normal rainfall between June and August. Except for the east and northeast, the rest of the country received above normal rainfall in the three months. IMD said neutral conditions of El Nino and emergence of La Nina conditions are possible reasons behind the above normal rainfall. In India, El Nino is synonymous with poor monsoon whereas La Nina symbolises bountiful rain. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in the northwest region, including Uttarakhand, parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and the adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh. There could be episodes of extremely heavy rainfall in these areas, potentially leading to floods. We should remain cautious of landslides, mudslides, and landslips, IMD said. We anticipate a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal each week of the month, which will result in significant rainfall across the country, it added. In addition to the expected rainfall, September is likely to bring warmer-than-usual temperatures to most regions of India. Maximum temperatures are predicted to remain above normal across much of the country. However, some areas, including northwest India, the southern peninsular region, and parts of east-central India, might experience temperatures that are closer to or slightly below normal. Minimum temperatures are also anticipated to stay above normal in most parts of the country, indicating warmer nights. Exceptions include isolated areas in northwest India, the Himalayan foothills, and southern Peninsular regions, where temperatures may remain normal to below-normal. Analysing the August rainfall, IMD said the country received second highest extremely heavy rainfall events in the past five years. These events mostly took place in Gujarat, western coasts, eastern India and in east Rajasthan. IMD recorded some exceptionally heavy rainfall in Karauli in Rajasthan (380 mm), Bagafa in Tripura (494 mm), Khambhalia (430 mm) and Jamnagar (380 mm) in Gujarat. IMDs subdivision map shows that except Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and J&K , the rest of the country received normal to excess rainfall.

PM Modi to Visit Poland and Ukraine Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict
New Delhi : The government finally made the much-awaited announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit to Poland that will take place on August 21 and 22, followed by the landmark and historic visit to war-torn Ukraine on August 23. On Monday, India said the visit to Ukraine was not a zero-sum game and that it has substantive and independent engagement with both Russia and Ukraine. New Delhi also said it was willing to provide all support and contribution to help find a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and also for Ukraines economic reconstruction. The conflict will figure in the talks between Prime Minister Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and is almost certainly expected to figure in the talks with the Polish leadership as well. At a special media briefing on Monday evening, MEA secretary (west) Tanmaya Lal reiterated Indias position that a resolution to the conflict can only be through dialogue and diplomacy, which was absolutely essential, adding that any proposal for a lasting peace can only succeed if it was acceptable to both sides. He reiterated Mr Modis remark (in Moscow last month) that a solution cannot be found on the battlefield and his statement (two years ago) that this was not a time for war. While India has time-tested strategic and defence ties with Russia, Mr Lal told reporters that defence cooperation would be one of the areas in bilateral ties to be discussed with Ukraine, apart from other aspects like economic ties, agriculture, health, pharma, and culture. He also detailed the aid consignments comprising materials such as medicines and power generators sent to Ukraine in the past two and a half years. This will be the first such visit by Mr Modi to Ukraine since the outbreak of the conflict and the first by an Indian Prime Minister to that country in more than three decades. Mr Modi had visited Russia just last month, which was also his first visit to Moscow since the war began between the two neighbours. The visit signifies that India continues to strike a delicate balance in its ties with both nations. It may also be noted that every other world leader, who has visited Ukraine since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began nearly two and a half years ago, has entered the country from its western border through Poland. This will also be the first time in 45 years that an Indian Prime Minister will visit Poland. The MEA detailed the robust trade ties that India has with Poland. Mr Lal also pointed out that India and Poland had signed a defence cooperation pact over two decades ago in 2003 and that New Delhi had also recently re-opened its defence wing at the embassy in Polands capital Warsaw. The two nations also have strong historical ties dating back to the Second World War when two Indian erstwhile princely states -- Jamnagar (now in Gujarat) and Kolhapur (Maharashtra) -- had provided refuge to thousands of Polish women and children. It may be recalled that Ukraines President had just last month termed the meeting between Mr Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin as a huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the worlds largest democracy hug the worlds most bloody criminal in Moscow. Mr Modi had in June this year met President Zelenskyy in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in the Apulia region of Italy during which the Ukrainian President had raised the possibility of exchanging experience in the use of new technologies in agriculture, and also spoke about the functioning of the Black Sea transport corridor which makes it possible to increase exports of sunflower oil to India and turnover of other categories of goods.

NEW DELHI: India has committed US$ 85 million over 10 years to support the programming of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre, a knowledge hub dedicated to advancing traditional medicine, in Gujarat. Indias 10-year financial contribution will support a cross-sectoral program of work to strengthen the evidence base for traditional medicine by providing data and evidence on traditional medicine policies, practices, products, and public use. According to the WHO, worldwide, traditional medicine is used by billions of people for their health and well-being. The WHO-India donor agreement is part of a US$ 250 million investment from India in support of the establishment of the WHO Global Centre of Traditional Medicine in 2022, which includes financial support for the work plan of the centre, interim premises, and a new building. This support will scale up WHOs capacities on traditional medicine across technical divisions and regions in the spirit of global collaboration and solidarity. Part of this substantial contribution from the Indian government will also be included in WHOs Investment Round to resource WHOs core work during 20252028. Indias commitment and leadership in expanding the evidence-based contribution of traditional medicine to the health and well-being of all people and the planet, comes at an opportune moment, said Dr Bruce Aylward, Assistant Director-General of the Universal Health Coverage and Life Course division of WHO. Traditional medicine, supported within national health systems, can allow us to reach those most often left behind. Integration of traditional practice and knowledge is critical to achieving health for all, Aylward added. At the signing ceremony in Geneva, Ayush Secretary, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, said the signing of the donor agreement is a major milestone towards achieving the shared vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and WHO Director-General Tedros for the development of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre at Jamnagar, Gujarat. India remains committed to supporting WHO in its work to strengthen traditional medicine systems globally for achieving universal health coverage and serving the entire humanity, especially through this Global Centre in Jamnagar, which would help focus these efforts to benefit all Member States, said Ambassador Arindam Bagchi, Permanent Representative of India to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva. The WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre focuses on five inter-connectedareas of work: research and evidence; primary health care and universal health coverage; Indigenous Knowledge and biodiversity; digital health applications; and the biennial WHO Global Traditional Medicine Summit and collaborations. The first WHO traditional medicine global summit was held in August 2023 in Gujarat, resulting in a multistakeholder action agenda, the Gujarat Declaration. The next WHO Global Summit is planned for November 2025, following up on the anticipated launch of the 20252034 Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine at the 78th World Health Assembly in May 2025, the WHO said. Indias support for traditional medicine has been expressed through a variety of long-standing partnerships with WHO.In 2023, India signed a five-year agreement to support the technical work of WHOs Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCI) unit. The unit is supporting the development of the Member State-requested new WHO traditional medicine global strategy (2025 - 2034), and publishes key benchmark documents, standardized terminologies, and other evidence-informed technical products to support the safe and effective integration of traditional medicine in national health systems. The Centre and TCI collaborate closely with teams across WHO to advance WHOs multisectoral agenda on traditional medicine, including through regular meetings of the WHO Technical Expert Network, coordinated by the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre and TCI, to promote a One WHO approach on traditional medicine across headquarters, regional and countryoffice.
