Kashmir University and the Central University of Kashmir have postponed all exams scheduled till 10th August. All Kashmir University examinations scheduled to be held from Aug 5 to Aug 10, 2019 have been postponed, said the spokespersons of both the varsities. They said fresh dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately, later.
Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, police said. An official said that two militants of JeM were killed in a gunfight in Malmanpora area of Warpora. He said their identities are being ascertained.
Militants set off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when an armoured vehicle of the army was passing through Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district early Friday morning. An official said the vehicle of 55 Rashtriya Rifles suffered minor damage in the blast. No injury or casualties were reported in the incident.
The government on Wednesday announced summer vacations for Government Degree Colleges in Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division from August 1 to August 10. “Government Degree Colleges in Kashmir Division and Winter Zone of Jammu division shall observe summer vacations from August 1 to August 10,” read a government order.
An eight-year-old boy died and a 13-year-old girl was injured in two house collapse incidents after heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said on Wednesday. Pawan Kumar died while Sunita was injured seriously in the incidents in Loundna and Udhampur areas late Tuesday night, they said. The girl has been hospitalised.
The Members of Parliament of the National Conference on Monday gave a notice to raise the current situation in Kashmir in the Lok Sabha. The MPs have also sought an appointment with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the current situation in Kashmir.
The armies of India and Pakistan on Sunday traded fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. An official said that the Pakistani army violated ceasefire in Saujiyan and Shahpur sectors of Poonch. Indian army, he said, was retaliating effectively and strongly.

An 18-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide at her home in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night. Reports said the girl (name withheld), a resident of Kralteng, allegedly hanged self at her home. She was rushed to sub district hospital Sopore by her family members. However, doctors there declared her dead on arrival.

Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday deputed 20 officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau for training at the CBI Academy, Ghaziabad. The ten-day training programme will be held from 22nd July to 2nd August.
The governor administration on Wednesday appointed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi as Honorary General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir State Branch of Indian Red Cross (IRC) Society for a period of three years. Rizvi has earlier served as commissioner/secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department Jammu and Kashmir.

A female tourist from Chattisgarh on Thursday died of cardiac arrest at tourist resort Gulmarg in Baramalla district of north Kashmir. The deceased was identified as Pallavi Khokle (69) wife of Prakash Khukle of Raipora area of Chhattisgarh.
