The revolutionaries Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan and Thakur Roshan Singh were hanged by the Britishers on 19 th December, 1927. 99 years of the famous Kakori conspiracy and 97 years of the martyrdom of the freedom fighters. Bismil hanged at the Gorakhpur jail, Khan at the Faizabad jail and Roshan Singh at the Naini jail of Allahabad. The hot headed young men were well prepared with their plans and their deaths toowith a grin that sparked patriotism. Today we recall this date, the Kakori incident and the British play involved. The Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) or the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association The HRA was a radical left wing organization that operated from underground. It was founded by Sachindranath Sanyal. The manifesto was titled as The Revolutionary. After the sudden suspension of the Non- cooperation movement by Mahatma Gandhi in 1919, the youth leaders felt it was early. Moreover, the ideologies differed at a certain level. Leaders like Bismil were revolutionary in their approach and believed in overthrowing the British Raj through violence. They opposed Gandhi in the 37th session of the INC held in Bihar (1922). The INC was then divided into two groups one of the liberals and the other of rebels. The latter was the HRA, that adopted violent revolutionary means against the Britishers. They wanted to attain freedom through armed revolutions. HRA became The Hindustan Socialist Republican Association under the influence of Bhagat Singh. The Kakori train robbery case: Call it the Kakori conspiracy, Kakori incident, Kakori loot or the Kakori train robbery case. It was on Aug 9, 1925 when members of the Hindustan Republican Association (later known as the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) executed a train robbery at the Kakori train station near Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The mastermind behind is said to be Ram Prasad Bismil, the others who were majorly involved were Asfaqullah Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajendra Lahiri and Roshan Singh. Apart from the key attackers, there were Sachindra Bakshi, Manmathnath Gupta, Mukundi Lal, Keshab Chakravorty, Banwari Lal and Murali Lal. There was a need of arms and ammunition to carry out the organizations activities, thus in order to arrange for the funds members of the HRA decided to loot the government treasury. As the Sahranpur Lucknow train approached Kakori station, the revolutionaries stormed inside it. It was believed that the Kakori mail was transporting the British treasury. Overthrowing the guards, they could loot Rs. 8000. No passenger was robbed or caused any harm (except for one). What followed after: The incident spurred horror around. However, it even encouraged more such revolutionaries to carry on such acts. The British Raj called for a manhunt against those involved in the tragic robbery. Nearly 40 people were arrested, all the key strategists except for Chandrashekhar Azad. They were arrested under multiple charges, including theft and attempted murder. The trial started in May 1926. In its final verdict, the court sentenced Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Roshan Singh and Lahiri to death. In jail, they went on a hunger strike demanding to be treated alike political prisoners. While outside, there was public dissatisfaction against the verdict. 78 members of the Central Legislative Assembly filed a petition to the Viceroy of India for the death sentence to be turned to life term. The Privy council and the British monarch were also sent the final appeal in this regard. But of no use. The three youth were hanged on the cold early morning of 19 th Dec 1927. Rajendra Lahiri was hanged two days earlier at the Gonda jail on 17 th Dec 1927. Other facts: It is also believed that the money looted was not to purchase arms and ammunition, rather for establishing printing press. They wanted to publish socialist literature for the youth. HRA was working towards uniting the country. Asfaqullah Khan even addressed the countrymen to stay united when all the Britishers were trying to do was divide them on communal lines. 40 people were arrested when only 10 people were involved in the incident. Know the leaders Ram Prasad Bismil The poet, writer and great revolutionary of India was born on 11 th June 1897. He belonged to Shahjahanpur district of then North western province of India. A Tomar Rajput, Bismil was associated with Arya Samaj at an early age. He was one of the initial members of the HRA. Bismil composed his poems in Hindi and Urdu, his pen names were Ram, Agyat and Bismil. He published a pamphlet called Deshvasiyon ke naam sandesh and a poem Mainpuri ki Pratigya. He carried out various underground activities, a poem titled Mann ki Lahar and translated two Bengali works. He drafted the yellow paper constitution of the HRA in 1923. Another work Kranti Geetanjali was published after his death in 1929. Not to forget the immortal poem- Sarfaroshi ki tamanna. In his honor, The Amar Shaheed Bismil Smarak has been established. The Pt. Ram Prasad Bismil Railway station 11 kms away from Shahjahanpur. A memorial that honors the Kakori conspirists at Kakori which was inaugurated by then PM Indira Gandhi. Asfaqullah Khan The revolutionary leader was born on 22 nd October 1900 in a Muslim Pathan family of Khyber tribe in Shahjahanpur. Khan met Ram Prasad Bismil and started working with him closely. He was an Urdu writer, writing in the name of Hasrat. He was inspired by the Lenin and Bolshevik revolutions in Russia. He firmly believed in socialist ideology. The freedom fighter was against religious communalism. Along with the others, he also got involved in the Kakori conspiracy. Out of his many writings in the jail, what catches attention is Brave dies once, cowards daily. you must read the proceedings of my case, then you will come to know to what extent I loved my motherland as a true Muslim. Aye mere paak khuda, Hindustan ki sarzameen par Azadi ka suraj ab jald tulu farma. (Oh Almighty let the Sun of Independence shine over Hindustan soon. Thakur Roshan Singh The revolutionary was born in Nabadi village of Shahjahanpur district on 22 nd January 1892. During the Non cooperation movement, he was sentenced for the Bareilly shooting case in 1921-22. After coming back from jail, he went on to join the HRA. It is said that he didnt participate in the Kakori robbery case, but was still arrested. He faced the trial in the murder that happened during the robbery. He was hanged alongside the other martyrs on 19 th January 1927. The three revolutionaries have been forgotten over time. They martyred for the nation when they were mere youths. And even before, when a young boy has dreams for himself, they had the dreams of freeing the nation from the shackles of the British. Now we can say that their means were unlawful, but how will you justify for the sacrifice they made. Leaving back bereaved families and loved ones. But a Bismil and an Ashfaqullah Khan taught us How to work for the betterment of the nation by standing united, rising above communal differences.

Teenager pushes mother to death, leaves her unattended for five days
LUCKNOW: A 17-year-old boy was held by Gorakhpur police on Wednesday for pushing his mother during a heated exchange leading her to fall and get a fatal head injury. During the interrogation, the teenager not only admitted to his crime but also explained the series of events which resulted in the death of his mother Aarti. The boy revealed that when his mother turned unconscious after getting the head injury, he left for school leaving her behind in the same condition. Even on his return, he left her unattended and went to stay with his friend. This ordeal continued for the next five days before his father Ram Milan, an assistant scientist in the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) unit of Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, became suspicious of the explanation given by the boy. Ram Milan asked his sister-in-law Gyanti Devi, to check and she found the house locked and his son unreachable on the phone. Later, Ram Milan decided to visit his family in Gorakhpur himself. The revelation came to light during a two-hour interrogation by Additional SP (North) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava of the teenager who confessed that he had pushed his mother during an argument. The sequence of events began when Ram Milan from BARC called his wife, Aarti, on the evening of December 3. After he couldnt reach her as her mobile remained switched off for two days, on December 7, he sent his sister-in-law, to their house, which was locked from the outside. Ram Milan, on reaching Gorakhpur, found Aartis body in the house. Their son, who was found sitting on a bench in a nearby Shiva temple, initially tried to misguide both police and his father by telling them that Aarti died after a fall. He claimed panic led him to lock the house from the outside and wander for four days. However, the autopsy report contradicted the minors account, said the cops. Further investigation raised suspicions. Bloodstains were found at two different spots, indicating the body was dragged, and CCTV footage confirmed no outsiders entered the house. While searching the boys room, large amounts of cash were recovered in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100, added police. During interrogation on Wednesday, the boy confessed how he pushed his mother who died of the fall. Meanwhile, the altercation between the boy and his mother took off on December 3 morning when Aarti asked the boy, a student of class XI, to go to school and he refused. Instead, he asked for some money and a dispute ensued. Finally, the mother threw cash at him in frustration and in a fit of rage, the boy pushed her leading her to fall and getting a fatal head injury, SP Srivastava told the media persons. As per the police authorities, the boy and his mother were at loggerheads since December 1, when Aarti visited the school of her son and discovered that he rarely attended school but was involved in other activities. His mother scolded him badly in front of his classmates and teachers. SSP Gorakhpur, Gaurav Grover, said that the boy was sent to a shelter home.
Lok Sabha Approves Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to Boost Railway Administration
The Lok Sabha on Wednesday, December 11, passed the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, amid disruptions during the Winter Session of Parliament. Introduced on August 9 by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Bill aims to provide statutory powers to the Railway Board, enhancing its functioning and independence. Key Amendments and Objectives The Bill empowers the Central Government to determine the composition of the Railway Board, specifying the number of members, their qualifications, experience, and terms of service. By granting this authority, the amendment seeks to improve the administrative capabilities of the Railway Board, streamlining its operations and decision-making processes. In addition, the amendment help make feasible for the approval, expansion, and re-routing of super-fast trains through Thawe Junction in Bihar. This includes changes to the route of the Arunachal Express (Train No. 22411/22412), which will now pass through Siwan, Thawe, Kaptanganj, and Gorakhpur. The adjustment addresses long-standing demands for improved connectivity between Thawe Junction and major cities like Delhi, benefiting local residents, including migrant workers and pilgrims. Historical Context and Legal Simplification Explaining the significance of the amendments, Vaishnaw noted that provisions from the Indian Railway Board Act, 1905, are being integrated into the Railways Act, 1989. This unification aims to simplify the legal framework governing railways by eliminating the need to refer to two separate laws. The minister highlighted the historical evolution of network of the railway. Initially, part of the Public Works Department before independence, the Indian Railways Act, 1890, was introduced to manage railway operations. The Railway Board Act of 1905 was later enacted when the railway organisation was separated from the Public Works Department. Although the Railways Act, 1989, replaced the earlier law, the Railway Board continued to function without statutory backing. Addressing Regional Needs The amendment holds particular significance for Bihars Thawe Junction, which has long faced a lack of direct train connections to major cities. By expediting approvals for superfast train operations and rerouting, the government aims to enhance connectivity, fostering regional development and fulfilling local demands. Broader Impact With its focus on strengthening the Railway Board and addressing regional connectivity challenges, the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, marks a significant step in modernising Indias railway administration. The amendments are expected to pave the way for more efficient governance and improved services across the country.

Talcher fertiliser plant revival delayed; only 63.75% work completed after a decade
BHUBANESWAR: More than a decade after the Centre initiated steps to revive the Talcher Fertiliser plant and redevelop it as the countrys largest and first coal gasification-based urea unit, it continues to remain non-operational due to inordinate delay in execution of the project. Talcher Fertiliser Ltd (TFL) was among the five fertiliser plants in the country taken up for revival in 2014. The revival of four other plants at Sindri (Jharkhand), Barauni (Bihar), Ramagundam (Telangana) and Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) announced during the same time have been completed and the units are now functional. Sources said TFL, a consortium of four state-run companies, was established in December 2014 to revive the Talcher unit at an estimated cost of over Rs 13,270 crore to produce 12.7 lakh tonne urea per annum by leveraging coal gasification technology. The contracts for coal gasification and ammonia urea package were awarded to Wuhan Engineering Company Ltd (WECL), China by TFL in September 2019. The project was severely affected as Covid-19 pandemic struck in December the same year, having its epicentre at Wuhan. Locals and former employees of the plant are displeased with the prolonged delay in execution of the project which was to be completed by September this year. The revival of Talcher Fertiliser Ltd is a beacon of hope for industrial and economic growth in the region. We were rendered jobless after the sudden closure of the plant more than 20 years back. We were hopeful after the revival plan was announced. But the delay is disappointing, said Bijay Mallick, an ex-employee. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers recently acknowledged that the progress of the project was affected due to Covid pandemic that led to a backlog in procurement, construction and equipment erection by WECL. Around 63.75 per cent of the project has been completed so far. The outside pipe rack, renovation of non-plant buildings, boiler-1 and raw water treatment plant are in advanced stages of completion, Union minister Anupriya Patel informed this in the Parliament. The minister said efforts are being made by TFL for completion of the project with regular reviews with WECL, China engineering team to resolve the pending engineering issues. The TFL has also started deducting mutually-agreed damages from bills of WECL since July under the existing contract provisions due to slow progress and delays in project completion, she added. In 1971, FCIL had set up the Talcher unit over an area of 902 acre to produce urea using coal as feedstock and the production commenced in 1980. The unit, which was once producing 900 tonne ammonia and 1,500 tonne urea a day, fell sick in 1992 due to frequent power restriction, obsolete and mismatch of technology and was closed by 2002.

BJP gears up for campaigning efforts in Ayodhya's Milkipur ahead of by-poll
LUCKNOW: After sweeping seven out of nine seats in the recently held by-poll, BJP has intensified its efforts to wrest the high-stake Milkipur seat in Ayodhya where the bypoll is scheduled soon. The party has deputed two more key organisational functionaries UP minister JPS Rathore and MLC Dharmendra Singh who led the party win in Kundarki (Moradabad) and Katehari (Ambedkarnagar) assembly bypolls, respectively where the lotus bloomed after three decades. Both Rathore and Dharmendra Singh are mandated to work alongside state ministers Surya Pratap Shahi, Mayankeshwar Singh, Girish Jatav, and Satish Sharma. Rathore, a known strategist in the party, is an MLC and UP cooperative minister in Yogi cabinet. He joined the state government after the BJP returned to office in 2022. He was tasked with ramping up BJP poll preparation in the Kundarki seat which has over 50 per cent of Muslim voters. Kundarki also faced a bypoll following the election of SP MLA Zia-Ur-Rehman Barq to Lok Sabha from Sambhal. BJPs victory in Kundarki consolidated Rathores position in the party. On the other, Dharmendra Singh being entrusted with Milkipur bypoll is equally significant. Singh has been a key organisational leader in the Gorakhpur region, the turf of Yogi Adityanath. Just over a year ago, Singh was anointed partys state vice-president while being nominated for the legislative council. Singh, an OBC, was deployed in Katehari, which has a sizable population of OBC and Dalits. As per the political experts, the BJP wants to capitalise on its victory in the bypolls. Milkipur, the reserved seat had fallen vacant following the election of SP nine-time MLA Awadhesh Prasad who had emerged as the master killer by defeating BJPs sitting MP Lallu Singh in Faizabad (Ayodhya) seat in recent Lok Sabha elections. However, the EC had postponed the bypoll since an election petition concerning Milkipur in Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court. The HC dismissed the pending petition last week, thereby clearing the decks for bypoll in Milkipur. Milkipur may well turn out to be another battle of prestige between the BJP and the SP since the BSP has opted out and Congress has decided to back SP. A per the party sources, ground-level preparation have already intensified in Ayodhya while revamping its organisational structure at the booth and mandal level. The Milkipur assembly seat has 414 booths and five divisions, which are scheduled to have a new set of functionaries. Analysts said that the BJP is expected to play on its tried and tested Hindutva pitch with a focus on Yogis Batenge toh katenge call to counter SPs caste narrative of Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (PDA).

People across India revel in Diwali; Delhi defies firecracker ban
NEW DELHI: Colourful lights decked up buildings and diyas (earthen lamps) dotted houses as people across the country celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm on Thursday. In the national capital, Delhiites defied the firecracker ban as the city's air quality remained in the 'very poor' category with an AQI of 327 at 9 pm. Keeping up his tradition of celebrating the festival with soldiers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sir Creek near the Indo-Pak border in Gujarat's Kutch district and offered sweets to jawans. Modi said India cannot compromise on even an inch of land on its borders, adding the people believe in the strength of its armed forces for defending the country. Our enemy also knows it well, he asserted. People of India feel their country is safe because of you; when the world sees you, it sees India's strength, when enemies see you, they see the end of their sinister plans, the prime minister said, addressing personnel of the Border Security Force, Army, Navy and Air Force. The BJP has made Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, a prabhari for BJP Maharashtra for elections, but every week there are some incidents and accidents that occur with the railways. Such a shame that our country has been forced under such incapable ministers, he added. Meanwhile, taking a swipe at the BJP, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said such railway accidents are happening in Maharashtra despite the state having a double-engine government. There is 'jungle raj' in Maharashtra. They say that everything will be good in a double-engine government. There is a double-engine government in Maharashtra. Railways are under them, and law and order are under them, despite that such incidents are happening with passengers. Who will trust railways and Maharashtra? I condemn this incompetent government of Maharashtra, Alvi told ANI. The killing of the last wolf has brought relief to around three dozen villages in the Mahasi Block of the district at the Indo-Nepal border. The possible last wolf, reportedly killed by villagers while preying on a goat, was found deadoutside of Tamajpur village of Mahsi block. The pack killed eight people including seven children and injured more than 50 people in the past few months. The forest department had deployed a 16-team consisting of over 200 staff, community members, wildlife enthusiasts, and daily wage labourers to nab the pack. According to State officials, three months long operation costs over Rs 50 lakh where main expenses were for roping in of thermal drones, food of local staff and community members, daily wage labourers and arrangement of prey such as goats and others. Experts say flooding in nearby rivers have flooded their habitats which pushed these wolves near to human habitats. According tothe Divisional Forest Officer of Bahraich district, Ajeet Pratap Singh, the rest of the five wolves have already been nabbed. Out of which one died during the operation and rest of the four were kept in Lucknow and Gorakhpur zoo. We got information late evening on October 5 that the possible lone wolf, which was also injured, is in a field along with its dead prey goat outside of Tamajpur village, said Singh. Fourth wolf captured after pack killed nine people in 45 days in UP's Bahraich Fifth wolf from 'killer' pack captured in UP's Bahraich, one more at large According to officials, the dead wolf injured neck with a sharp weapon and blood profusely oozed out. We reached the site and sent the body of the wolf for postmortem to know the cause of death and an FIR will be filed after that, he further adds. Meanwhile, Wolf is protected under Schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act and Globally, it is also prominently listed under CITES Appendix 1. Yellowish brown in colour with black patches, Indian wolves weigh around 17 to 25 kg, prefer to live in open forests and scrubland and their numbers range between 2000-3000. They prey upon mid-sized animals such as chinkara, black buck, rabbits, rodents and sometimes they try to steal sheep and goats from human settlements. The pack is always led by alpha males and females to raise their kids and protect their territory. Dr Abhishek Ghoshal of Wildlife Trust of India said human persecution of wolves due to misconceptions like howling is considered as bad omens. Culturally, wolves were always presented in a negative light despite knowing the fact that their natural prey was reduced which made them attracted to domesticated animals in villages, said Ghosal. He further adds that there is no dedicated programme in India for the conservation of wolves. UP CM Yogi calls Pakistan cancer to humanity, advocates surgical intervention
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday referred to Pakistan as a cancer to humanity, describing it as a festering wound for the world that requires a surgical intervention to be cured. CM Yogi made these remarks while addressing a gathering during the consecration ceremony of the Siddheshwari Temple in Tripura. The event was inaugurated by CM Yogi alongside his Tripura counterpart, Dr Manik Saha. In his speech, the Uttar Pradesh CM referred to the partition of India in 1947 along religious lines, stating that the public should be aware of those responsible for dividing the country. He remarked, We should not forget how the then social order had blunted the British plot to divide Bengal in 1905. Similarly, if the Congress leadership, along with Jogendra Nath Mandal, had thwarted the conspiracy of the Muslim League at the time of independence, Pakistan would never have come into being. Adityanath asserted that resolving the issue of Pakistan requires decisive action, adding, The process has already begun. People of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) wish to join India, and Balochistan is also seeking independence from Pakistan. The Chief Minister highlighted the role of saints in protecting the nation and religion, calling them epresentatives of divine power on earth. He emphasised the importance of unity among saints from various sects, saying, When such a significant number of saints get united for any cause, success is inevitable. He stressed that collective effort is necessary to prevent destructive forces from gaining a foothold and urged the nation to eliminate 'anti-religion' powers to avoid a situation similar to that of Bangladesh from arising in India. Both the nation and religion must be safeguarded, CM Yogi said, adding that if religion is protected, it will also protect its followers. Referring to the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Krishna, he stated, Only the 'Murali' (flute) will not serve the purpose. The 'Sudarshan Chakra' must also be used to protect religion when required. He also drew attention to the plight of Hindus in neighbouring Bangladesh. CM Yogi commended the strength and unity of Tripuras rulers, noting how they kept the state independent and secure by protecting it from heretics and foreign invaders. He remarked, Those leaders who demonstrate strength and make their enemies aware of it will always remain safe. However, those who lose their strength and fail to distinguish between friends and foes will face consequences, as we see in Bangladesh today. The Chief Minister also praised the services of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), highlighting their selfless service. RSS and VHP are engaged in selfless service without resorting to any propaganda, he said. He noted that RSS operates thousands of educational institutions and service initiatives worldwide through Vidya Bharati, while the VHP runs Ekal Vidyalayas in over 100,000 villages across India's tribal areas. Back in 1984, the VHP also established a tribal hostel in Gorakhpur through the Shri Ram Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, providing education to children from the North East, CM Yogi added. Touching on the construction of the grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya, Adityanath said the long wait of five centuries had finally come to an end. While acknowledging that some may oppose the temple's construction, he stated, There is little that can be done about those who feel discontented. He emphasised that the government is respecting the faith of the majority of Indians. He also reiterated that Ayodhya, Mathura, and Kashi are the three major pillars of Sanatan Dharma, and these sacred places would continue to flourish as revered centres of the Sanatan faith. The newly-built temple in Barkathal is part of the network of 24 temples managed by the Shanti Kali Ashram in the northeastern region.
CM Yogi Adityanath says unfortunate to call Gyanvapi a mosque
LUCKNOW: Creating ripples, UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday called Gyanvapi the real embodiment of Lord Vishwanath himself. He said that it was unfortunate that people associated the name with a mosque, referring to the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. Unfortunately, people call Gyanvapi a mosque, but it is actually Baba Vishwanath (Lord Shiva) himself, said Yogi while addressing the inaugural session of an international seminar at Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University. The CMs statement has come close on the heels of an order of a Varanasi court on the Gyanvapi case on Thursday. The court rejected a petition from the Hindu side seeking repairs to the basement of Vyas Ji ka Thekhana on the Gyanvapi mosque premises. Later, the CMs remarks were posted on his official social media handle as: Today people call Gyanvapi a mosque in other words, but Gyanvapi is actually Lord Vishwanath personified. The CM said the confusion about its true identity or name was the biggest obstacle not only to worship and offering prayers but also to national unity and integrity. Meanwhile, the first reaction to Adityanaths statement came from Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi of All India Muslim Jamat. He said the statement was against the decorum of the chair of the CM. He said that Gyanvapi is a historical mosque and that he did not agree with the CMs statement. He is the CM for the entire state irrespective of section which supports him and those who do not, said Razvi. The cleric said that Namaz was being offered at Gyanvapi for ages and it was a well know mosque. However, earlier during the discourse, the CM recounted a legend about Lord Shiva testing the spiritual evolution of Adi Shankaracharya, who was visiting Kashi after establishing spiritual centres in all four corners of India. When Adi Shankaracharya arrived in Kashi, Lord Vishwanath sought to test him. As the sage went to bathe in the Ganga during Brahma Muhurta, Lord Vishwanath appeared before him disguised as an untouchable. When Adi Shankaracharya asked him to step aside, Lord Vishwanath, still in that form, challenged him, saying if the hermit was truly full of Advaita knowledge, he should not see people only as the physical body. If Brahma is the ultimate truth, then the same brahma resides in me also as he is there in you, Yogi said. When Adi Shankara asked the untouchable for his real identity, Lord Shiva came into his real being revealing to him that he was the one for whose worship (Adi Shankara) had gone to Gyanvapi in Kashi, the CM said. The CM then concluded that Gyanvapi was a real embodiment of Lord Vishwanath.

The cleric said that Namaz was being offered at Gyanvapi for ages and it was a well-known mosque. However, earlier during the discourse, CM Yogi recounted a legend about Lord Shiva testing the spiritual evolution of Adi Shankaracharya, who was visiting Kashi after establishing spiritual centres in all four corners of India. Elaborating on the tradition of saints and sages and describing them as a force that united society and the nation, Yogi delved in detail about Adi Shankaracharya, who was born in Kerala and established key Peethas for the expansion of religion and spirituality across the country. When Adi Shankaracharya arrived in Kashi, Lord Vishwanath sought to test him. As the sage and spiritual guru went to bathe in holy river Ganga during Brahma Muhurta, Lord Vishwanath appeared before him disguised as an untouchable. When Adi Shankaracharya asked him to step aside, Lord Vishwanath, still in that form, challenged him, saying that if the hermit was truly full of Advaita knowledge, he should not see people only as the physical body. If Brahma is the ultimate truth, then the same brahma resides in me also as he is there in you, said Lord Shiva disguised as an untouchable. CM Yogi added: When stunned Adi Shankara asked the untouchable for his real identity, Lord Shiva came into his real being revealing to him that he was the one for whose worship (Adi Shankara) had gone to Gyanvapi in Kashi. The CM then concluded that Gyanvapi was a real embodiment of Lord Vishwanath. Stating that the tradition of Indian sages and saints with special reference to Nathpanth to which Yogi Adityanath himself belongs, had valued an egalitarian and harmonious society since ancient times, the UP CM said: Our saints and sages have consistently emphasized that physical untouchability is not only a barrier to spiritual practice but also an obstacle to national unity and integrity. The Chief Minister further noted that if more attention had been paid to eliminate untouchability, the country would have never been enslaved. The tradition of saints never prioritized untouchability within society, and this is also the ethos of the Nathpanth. The Nathpanth respects all castes, sects, religions, and regions, striving to bring everyone together. He added that the Nath sect, on one hand, focused on spiritual elevation through physical purification, while on the other, it would make efforts to unify every section of society. He noted that the enduring influence of Nathpanth was evident not only across India but also internationally. He recounted his meeting with a prominent saint from Tamil Nadu in Ayodhya, who provided manuscripts of Nathpanth from remote areas of Tamil Nadu. Many places of worship and traditions linked to Gorakhnath Ji still exist, remarked Yogi Adityanath on the occasion which also marked the memorial of his Guru Mahant Awaidyanath who had left for his heavenly abode on September 12, 2014. He observed that Nathpanth tradition was expanding in states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Sindh, Tripura, Assam, Bengal, and beyond Greater India, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Tibet, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
It's Unfortunate' to Call Gyanvapi as mosque: UP CM Adityanath
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his disapproval on Saturday over the labeling of the Gyanvapi site as a mosque, stating it is Lord Vishwanath himself. His comments were made during a speech in Gorakhpur to mark Hindi Diwas. People unfortunately refer to Gyanvapi as a mosque, but it is actually 'Vishwanath' (Lord Shiva), Adityanath said. His statement follows a recent court decision rejecting a request from Hindu petitioners who had sought repairs to the basement of Vyas Ji within the Gyanvapi mosque complex. The Chief Minister also shared his views on social media, emphasizing: Today people call Gyanvapi a mosque, but in truth, Gyanvapi is Vishwanath. Adityanath further remarked, Had our society recognized and addressed this issue earlier, our country might have avoided colonization. Hindu activists argue that a temple existed at the site before it was allegedly demolished by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century. This claim is contested by the Muslim side. In February, a Varanasi court allowed Hindu worshippers to access the sealed basement of the Gyanvapi mosque, specifically the area known as 'Vyas Ka Tekhana.' Recently, the Hindu side has requested that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conduct a survey of the mosque complex. The next court hearing on this matter is scheduled for September 18, where the petition for an ASI survey will be addressed. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for an encyclopedia of the Nath Sampradaya with collections from literature from all over the world including Afghanistan and Pakistan to be compiled. Artefacts from all over the world should also be collected; and where they no longer exist, replicas be made and displayed in a museum, he said. He was speaking at the inaugural session of an international conference which will discuss the contributions of the Nath sampradaya to social amity. The CM currently heads the sect. This is the second such conference which will draw in-person and virtual participation from scholars, academics and members from across the world. Adityanath said that the impact of the sect was visible throughout the country. This is a sect that has never practised any kind of untouchability. There are no distinctions of caste, religion, area or language. It has had just one goal- to unite everyone, he said. The two-day conference is being held at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University which houses a research wing dedicated to the sect. Touching on the multi-faceted influence of the sect, Adityanath said that in Punjab, it had instilled people with the courage to fight off foreign invaders through songs sung to the tune of sarangis (a stringed instrument). In Karnataka, the influence is visible in the Manjunath tradition of which Shiva is the presiding deity. He also touched upon the real nature of the Gyanvapi mosque- the nature of which is currently the subject of a court case. The name, he said, denoted Shiva- who was omniscient. It is not a mosque as is currently thought, he said. The Gorakhvani, a book which encompasses the message of Gorakhnath, the founding father of the peeth, Adityanath said had been quoted in various texts by various poets and writers. Among those he mentioned were Malik Muhammed Jayasi and Kalidas. The central tenet of our belief is cleanliness of the spirit and the body, he said. Adityanath called upon the attendees to not only hold academic discussions on the sect but also such that could be a part of everyday, practical living.
