Nine held for running `fake` job racket; accused posed as airline recruiters
The gang had set up a fake call centre at Tilak Nagar, from where they contacted job seekers through online advertisements. The accused used to target unemployed youngsters looking for jobs online. The victims were induced to make payments ranging between Rs 2,500 and Rs 15,000
Former Union minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday broke his silence on his grandnephew Parth Pawar's links to the Pune land scam, demanding a fair probe into it. Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawars elder son Parth has landed in trouble over the purchase of 40 acres of Pune land for Rs 300 crore against the market price of Rs 2,000 crore. Besides, by allegedly using the influence of his father, he got the Rs 6 crore stamp duty and registration charges waived. Reacting to the controversy, Ajit Pawars uncle and Parth Pawars granduncle Sharad Pawar said in Akola that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said publicly that the matter is serious. We expect the CM to conduct a fair probe and put the facts before the people. Family and politics are two different things. We should not mix them. Ajit Pawar fielded his spouse Sunetra Pawar against his own cousin Supriya Sule in the Baramati Lok Sabha election, while my grandnephew Yugendra Pawar contested the state assembly polls against Ajit Pawar in Baramati, Sharad Pawar said. Coverup? Ajit Pawar's son not named in FIR despite being 99% owner of controversial Pune land He further added, When it comes to family matters, I am the head of it, but when it comes to politics, we are completely different. We have ideological differences with Ajit Pawar and his party. And Parth Pawars land deal issue is not a family matter; it is an administrative and political issue, therefore, we have to take a political stand. Asked why no FIR was lodged against Parth Pawar though he is the main owner of the firm that bought the 40 acres of land, Sharad Pawar said the home minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the chief minister, can throw light on it. Reacting to Pawars statement, CM Fadnavis said the FIR is the primary complaint against the people who were signatories in the Pune land deal. He said once the probe expands, more FIRs will be lodged. Sharad Pawar also disagreed with his daughter, NCP MP Supriya Sule, who had defended Parth Pawar, saying she didn't think he would do anything wrong. The NCP (SP) chief said this could be her view, but his party is not aligned to it. Meanwhile, in Pune, a Dalit organization staged a protest in front of Ajit Pawar's residence, demanding his resignation and an atrocity case against Parth Pawar for taking away Mahar Vatan land at throwaway prices.

Bihar election fallout, SIR set to dominate winter session of Parliament starting from December 1
The winter session of Parliament will be held from December 1 to 19, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Saturday. The President of India Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposal of the government to convene the winter session of Parliament from 1st December 2025 to 19th December 2025 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business), Rijiju wrote in a post on X. Looking forward to a constructive and meaningful Session that strengthens our democracy and serves the aspirations of the people, he added. Being held right after the Bihar assembly elections, the results are likely to dominate the tone and tenor of the session. The stage is also set for a major political showdown with the Opposition upping the ante on the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the alleged vote theft in Haryana and Maharashtra. Though there is no joint Opposition strategy on SIR so far, opposition states Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala have intensified their protest against the exercise. All parties will come together to oppose the SIR during the session, said an Opposition leader. The Opposition parties are also likely to corner the government on the issue of alleged vote theft in Haryana and Maharashtra. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhis recent allegations on vote theft may also rock the session. Speaking to the media, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said, The Prime Minister's silence on Trump's statements is a major issue. The current relationship with China is unresolved...There hasn't been a border agreement with China. We haven't returned to the previous situation. Negotiations are being held between the two countries based on the new normal that China has established. He added, There are many such issues regarding the economy, the rate of economic growth, GDP, unemployment. There is no shortage of issues. We keep issuing notices again and again, but no action is ever taken on them. The government does whatever it wants. Significantly, this winter session is set to be one of the shortest since 2014. The previous winter session ran from November 25 to December 20. Soon after the announcement, the opposition parties launched an attack on the government for reducing the session to just 15 days. Targeting the government, Ramesh said that the session is an unusually delayed and truncated one. It will be just 15 working days. What is the message being conveyed? Clearly, the government has no business to transact, no Bills to get passed, and no debates to be allowed, wrote Ramesh on X. Echoing the view, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek OBrien said the government is avoiding parliamentary scrutiny. 15-day Winter Session announced. Setting dubious records. Parliament-ophobia. PM Narendra Modi and team continue to suffer from the acute condition called Parliament-ophobia, a morbid fear of facing Parliament, he wrote on X. Among the bills likely to be taken up are the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, which seeks to propose the removal of top government functionaries under arrest for 30 days. The last Parliament Session witnessed repeated disruptions, adjournments, and walkouts. Barring discussions on Operation Sindoor in both Houses, the session has seen little business ever since it began on July 21 due to repeated disruptions and adjournments initially due to opposition demand for discussion on Operation Sindoor and then over demands for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar. It had 21 sittings spreading over 32 days, during which 12 bills were passed by the Lok Sabha and 15 by the Rajya Sabha.

Sharad Pawar backs probe into Mundhwa land deal linked to grandnephew Parth Pawar
AKOLA: Citing Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday supported a probe into the controversial land deal allegedly linked to the company of his grandnephew Parth Pawar. The chief minister has said publicly that the matter is serious. So he should conduct a probe and put the facts before society, Pawar told reporters. The controversy pertains to the alleged illegal sale of 40 acres of government land in Pune's Mundhwa area, reportedly worth around Rs 1,800 crore, which Opposition leaders claim was purchased by a company linked to Parth, son of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, for only Rs 300 crore with a stamp duty waiver. Ajit Pawar has distanced himself from the transaction. When asked if his nephew Ajit Pawar is being targeted politically by allies in Mahayuti, the senior Pawar said, I wouldn't know. Sharad Pawar also appeared not to agree with his daughter and NCP MP Supriya Sule's remarks on Parth. Sule had said she didn't think Parth would do anything wrong. This could be her (Supriya's) view, he said. He emphasised that the administration, politics, and family and different. As a family, we (Pawars) are one, but we are divided ideologically. One of my grand nephews had contested against Ajit Pawar, and Ajit Pawar 's wife had contested against my daughter, he said. Coverup? Ajit Pawar's son not named in FIR despite being 99% owner of controversial Pune land The veteran politician said the strategy for the upcoming local body polls in Maharashtra will be decided unanimously (by Maha Vikas Aghadi allies). We (NCP-SP) are meeting tomorrow and will take a call on our strategy and on inducting new partners in our fold, he said. He also hinted at taking the Raj Thackeray-led MNS along in the Opposition camp. If a good alternative emerges through a consensus in MVA, the Congress party should not take an extreme stance on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and should think about it. We will discuss this tomorrow, he said. The former Union minister alleged the Mahayuti government doesn't seem bothered about the plight of farmers, battling crop loss and indebtedness. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's kingdom comprised hardworking people and farmers. Shivaji Maharaj always took care of farmers. However, this is not happening now. The help announced by the state government for agriculturists hit by heavy rains has not yet reached many among them, he said. Terming the government's announcement of a relief package akin to a fraud, Pawar said the farmers who had received the financial assistance in April for unseasonal rains have not got anything now. The announcement of a farmer loan waiver seems deceptive, Pawar added. Amid an agitation led by former MLA Bachchu Kadu, CM Fadnavis had stated that the state government will take a decision on a farm loan waiver by June 30, 2026.

Maharashtra minister bought Rs 200-crore land for Rs 3 crore, claims Wadettiwar
Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Saturday alleged that Maharashtra Minister Pratap Sarnaik had acquired a four-acre land parcel, worth around Rs 200 crore, in Mira Bhayandar for Rs 3 crore to set up his educational institute, a charge the latter denied while seeking documentary proof for the claim. Wadettiwar's allegations have come days after Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar ran into trouble as the deal for the sale of 40 acres of government land in the upscale Mundhwa area in Pune to Amadea Enterprises, a firm co-owned by his son Parth Pawar, came under the scanner for want of required clearances. Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader claimed that State Transport Minister Sarnaik had acquired four acres of land worth around Rs 200 crore at Mira Bhayandar near Mumbai for just Rs 3 crore to set up an educational institute. Can a minister procure such land for his own educational institute? If this is permissible, then let this be Maharashtra. We will shut our eyes helplessly. Come and see, this is the current situation under their rule, he said. Sarnaik, however, denied Wadettiwar's claim, saying ministers face such allegations frequently. Wadettiwar is a senior Congress leader. I expect him to provide documents substantiating his allegations against me. I am also wondering where the said land is and how it is linked to me? It is true that as a minister we face allegations frequently, he told reporters. Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that he had only heard of the charge but had received no formal complaints. These people spend more time making allegations through the media than actually filing complaints. If a complaint is submitted, we can order an inquiry. Look at the recent Pune land case. When the issue was raised, the state government formed a committee and initiated a probe, he said.

Rahul Gandhi accuses NDA of reducing Bihars people to labourers, vows revival under Mahagathbandhan
PATNA: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of urning the people of Bihar into labourers over the past 20 years. Addressing a public rally in Bhagalpur, the Congress MP appealed to people to support the Mahagathbandhan to enable it to form the next government in Bihar for the states rapid development. If you want industries to be set up, quality education, and good governance, then vote for Mahagathbandhan, he told the gathering. Gandhi also renewed his allegations of voter fraud in the Haryana Assembly elections, stating that Haryana has 20 million electors, but there are over 2.5 million fake voters in the states voter list. He claimed that members of the BJP live in Uttar Pradesh and vote in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana . Gandhi alleged that the name of a Brazilian woman appeared 22 times in Haryanas voter list. In Haryana, one household has 500 voters, and another has 60. When we inquired, no one lived in the houses, he said, adding that the Congress had provided proof of how votes were stolen in Haryana. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Election Commission of conspiring to manipulate votes in Haryana, as well as vote theft in the Lok Sabha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh elections. He also criticised the Election Commissions Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, accusing it of removing Mahagathbandhan supporters names and withholding voter lists until the last minute. Rahul said that the Prime Minister often talked about reducing data prices so that youth can make reels and earn money. But the money spent on data goes to big companies. This is an attempt to distract the youth so that they dont demand jobs, he told the crowd. He later interacted with the weavers of Bhagalpur, known as the Silk City of Bihar. Rahul was in Bhagalpur to address a rally in support of Mahagathbandhan candidates. Congress sitting MLA Ajeet Sharma, who is seeking re-election from the seat, was also present. On eve of Bihar polls, Rahul Gandhi drops 'H files', alleges theft of over 25 lakh votes in Haryana elections
