JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has announced a major initiative to recast the states school curriculum by forming a special review committee. This decision follows a statement from State Education Minister Madan Dilawar, who highlighted the need to eliminate undesirable and inappropriate subjects from the syllabus and align the curriculum with contemporary needs and the national ethos. Minister Dilawar emphasised the importance of crafting a curriculum that reflects the spirit of the nation and addresses modern educational requirements. Acting on his directive, the states school education department has begun the review process, intending to identify and address gaps in the existing syllabus. Known for his controversial remarks, Minister Dilawar had announced plans to add information about cows to the primary school syllabus in October. He had also said that schools should screen educational films on cows to enhance students' understanding. We will talk to scholars and experts and, if possible, will try to add information on cows in primary school books, he said. Similarly, in September, Dilawar had said that any textbook depicting Mughal ruler Akbar as great would be burned. He had claimed that Akbar had looted the country for years and was a rapist and hence no one in textbooks in Rajasthan should call him a great personality. The newly formed review committee will thoroughly assess the curriculum and recommend improvements to ensure it meets both cultural and historical standards while staying relevant to current times. The process aims to balance modernization with the preservation of Rajasthans heritage. In a related development, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumaris remarks on historical inaccuracies have sparked considerable debate. She asserted that the British and Mughals left behind a distorted history of Rajasthan, Jaipur, and the Rajputs, which has been taught to students. In history, wrong things have been written about the Rajput community. Jaipur, globally recognised due to our ancestor Sawai Jai Singh, has been misrepresented in textbooks. It is time to rectify these mistakes, she stated. Kumari further underscored the need to teach the younger generation the true history of Jaipur and Rajasthan. It is our generation's responsibility to present the authentic history of Jaipur to the world, she affirmed, pledging to bring historical accuracy to the forefront of education. On November 14, 2024, a high-level delegation led by Satish Kumar Gupta, Special Officer to the Education Minister, along with Dr. Jagdish Narayan Vijay and Dr. Surendra Godhra, visited New Delhi. The delegation met with NCERT Director Professor Dinesh Prasad Saklani to discuss the legal provisions and guidelines for the curriculum review. As per an order from the Rajasthan governments Primary Education (Planning) Department, the review committee will analyse the curriculum, including its content, illustrations, and interpretations. The evaluation will be guided by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the State Curriculum Framework, and the National Curriculum Framework. The committee is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT) in Udaipur within 30 days. This initiative marks a crucial step in reshaping the states educational landscape while addressing historical and cultural narratives in a balanced and thoughtful manner.

NEW DELHI: More than 25 domestic and international flights operated by Indian carriers received bomb threats on Friday, according to sources. An IndiGo spokesperson on Friday said seven of its flights, including 6E 87 from Kozhikode to Dammam, got security-related alerts. Sources said around seven flights each of IndiGo, Vistara and SpiceJet got the threats while six flights of Air India received the threats. IndiGo's six other flights - 6E 2099 (Udaipur to Delhi), 6E 11 (Delhi to Istanbul), 6E 58 (Jeddah to Mumbai), 6E 17 (Mumbai to Istanbul), 6E 108 (Hyderabad to Chandigarh) and 6E 133 (Pune to Jodhpur) received the threats. Flight 6E 2099, operating from Udaipur to Delhi, received a bomb threat. Following security agency guidelines, the aircraft was redirected to the isolation bay before take-off and standard operating procedures were followed. All passengers were safely disembarked, the airline spokesperson said in a statement. In 12 days, more than 275 flights operated by the Indian carriers have received bomb threats. Most of the threats were issued through social media. The government has asked social media platforms Meta and X to share data about hoax bomb threat messages to airlines and has started identifying those behind such activities.

Hoax bomb threat: Home Secretary meets BCAS, CISF chiefs to discuss issue
NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) met with the top officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on Monday, to deal with the spate of hoax bomb threats to the airlines last week. Officials briefed the Home Secretary Govind Mohan about the hoax bomb threats to airlines, leading to diversions, cancellations and passenger inconvenience, as these bore a huge cost to the aviation sector, sources said. They said during the briefing, the top officials of the two agencies, responsible for providing security to the airlines and airports, noted that most of such threats originated from abroad and VPN chaining is suspected to make it almost impossible for Indian agencies to trace the exact location of their origin. The sources said BCAS Director General (DG) Zulfiquar Hasan and Chief of the CISF Rajwinder Singh Bhatti met the Home Secretary at his office at North Block here. A senior official, while refusing to divulge the details of the meeting, said, Hasan and Bhatti briefed Mohan about the incidents of bomb threats and the steps taken to check such incidents. As many as 25 flights of Indian airlines received bomb threats on Sunday taking such incidents to around 100 over the past seven days affecting the schedule of over 90 domestic and international flights . The BCAS coordinates, monitors, inspects and trains personnel in civil aviation security matters thereby maximising the effectiveness of aviation security and minimising acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation operations. Hoax bomb threats to airlines: Govt mulls law to deal with offenders The CISF guards 68 civilian airports in the country by deploying about 40,000 personnel who provide counterterror security cover, frisk passengers and screen luggage. Meanwhile, sources said, the agencies have not been able to trace the actual Internet Protocol (IP) address from which the threats were issued. More to it, cyber security experts, who are involved in the digital probe, have also found that the accused are not the same in all cases. In one instance, a note was found on a Udaipur-Mumbai flight written on tissue paper. In other cases, threats were generated digitally. In some instances, threats were made through social media, while in others, emails were sent, a source said. According to the initial probe, the IP addresses were initially traced to European countries, but VPN chaining was suspected to have been used, making further tracing nearly impossible, the sources said, adding that they are trying to obtain details from VPN companies and their response is awaited. They said that had it been a normal VPN, the agencies would have traced it very easily, but in the present case, VPN chaining has been used in which data is routed through a primary VPN server, which decrypts and re-encrypts the data before sending it to a secondary VPN server for an additional layer of encryption and decryption. Hoax bomb threats: 'Looking to put perpetrators on no-fly list,' says Aviation Minister

Man-eating leopard shot dead by authorities in Udaipur amid rising attacks
JAIPUR: In a joint operation on Friday morning, the forest department and police shot a leopard in Rajasthan's Udaipur district, following a series of deadly attacks in the area. Over the past month, a leopard had killed 10 people, sparking fear among local residents. Just two days ago, two women were attacked by a leopard in the same area, with one losing her life. In response to these incidents, authorities issued orders to shoot the suspected man-eating leopard. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the leopard killed on Friday is the same one responsible for the recent attacks. Forest Department DFO Ajay Chittor commented, We believe this may be the man-eating leopard, but nothing can be confirmed at this time. Further investigation is required. Udaipur Range IG Rajesh Meena provided more details, explaining that the leopard attacked the police team during their search. The leopard was shot dead after it attempted to leap at an officer. Four bullets were fired, with the first striking its neck, Meena stated. He also mentioned that reports of a leopard roaming the area had been coming in for two months. A woman was killed in a leopard attack just two days ago. We had been working to capture the animal by surrounding it, deploying both police and forest teams. Yesterday evening, the leopard was spotted again, but it disappeared into the bushes after we fired at it, said Meena. At 7:30 a.m. on Friday, the teams resumed their search, and during the operation, the leopard made a move toward a policeman, prompting the fatal shots. We are still investigating whether this is the man-eating leopard responsible for the attacks, Meena added. Followed by the increasing attacks on humans a leopard was beaten to death by villagers after it attacked a 55-year-old man in Udaipur district of Rajasthan last week.
Leopard suspected of turning man-eater shot dead in Udaipur
Jaipur: A leopard suspected of turning man-eater was shot dead on Friday by a joint team of forest department and police in Rajasthan's Udaipur district, an official said. In Udaipur district, humans were hunted by leopards on September 18, 19, 20, 25, 28 and 30. In the above incidents, the place of attack by leopards is Gram Panchayat Chhali, Bagdunda, Majavad and Madar under the jurisdiction of Deputy Forest Conservator Udaipur (North). In a fresh attack on Wednesday, the leopard attacked two women who were working in in the field in Madar village of Badgaon. One of the woman, who was seriously injured in the leopard attack, died during treatment. The leopard which was shot dead in Madar area near the city is said to be involved in these attacks. Divisional Forest Officer Ajay Chittora said that the leopard was an adult male which apparently turned man-eater. Further confirmation will done after the sample test report will come out, Chittora added. The woman that was killed on Wednesday was the eighth person to die in leopard attack since September 18. Eight victims include four women and a five-year-old child who died due to leopard attacks in various areas of Udaipur. Concerned over the leopard attack and growing resentment among the locals, the forest authorities placed cages, installed camera traps and sought help from the Indian Army to track the leopard last month. As a result, three leopards were captured from different places. However, after a 55-year-old woman was mauled to death on October 1 outside her house in Suawaton ka Gudha when she was feeding fodder to livestock, authorities issued an order to shoot down the animal. The permission was granted under conditions that an attempt should be made to tranquilise or trap the leopard. However, in case the animal cannot be tranquilised or trapped, its correct identification should be ensured before killing the animal.

Rajasthan govt orders shoot at sight on man-eating leopard in Udaipur
The Rajasthan government has issued shoot at sight orders to tackle the growing danger of a man eating leopard in villages of Udaipur district which has killed 8 people in the last 12 days. The killing of a temple priest on Sunday night has created more panic among the people in Gogunda region of Udaipur district. Inhabitants of several villages in this tribal belt are living in constant fear and terror for the past fortnight. Chief Forest Conservator Pawan Kumar Upadhyay has issued shoot-on-sight orders for a man-eating leopard that has terrorized the Gogunda area of Udaipur. Angry villagers, mourning the loss of yet another life, blocked National Highway-27 in protest on Tuesday. Although officials managed to calm the crowd, the villagers have refused to allow the latest victim, a womans body, to be taken away. Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma has reassured the public, stating that the Army's assistance has been enlisted and the leopard will most likely be killed by this evening. The Forest Department has issued clear guidelines in response to the crisis. According to the orders from Jaipur headquarters, three key conditions must be followed: The first priority is to capture the leopard alive. If capture attempts fail, the leopard will be identified and shot. Daily progress reports must be submitted to the Jaipur headquarters. On Sunday, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat held a meeting with officials from the Forest Department and local police to discuss long-term solutions. One strategy proposed was to restore the ecological balance by reintroducing prey animals such as deer, sambhar, and rabbits into the forests of Gogunda and Jhadol. The leopards, which usually prey on peacocks, wild chickens, monkeys, and nilgai, have turned to attacking humans due to a shortage of these natural food sources. While authorities have captured four leopards in connection with recent attacks, it remains unclear if a single leopard or multiple ones are responsible for the recent killings. Investigations are ongoing as teams continue their efforts to resolve the crisis. The community remains on edge as the operation to locate and neutralize the leopard intensifies, with hopes that normalcy will soon be restored in the affected regions of Udaipur.
