In Agra, a 10-year-old girl's 48-hour hunger strike in extreme heat compelled the district administration to address the villagers' concerns. Anshika Sikarwar's protest, sparked by her father's illness and fueled by the liquor shop's negative impact, led officials to promise its relocation. The decision came after weeks of demonstrations against the shop, which villagers said caused harassment and domestic violence.

Three-tier security for SP MP Suman as Karni Sena protest intensifies in Agra
LUCKNOW: The controversy triggered by Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman over his objectionable remarks about Rajput king Rana Sanga refuses to die down. A large number of Karni Sena activists gathered in Agra and were likely to march to Sumans residence again on Saturday. As per the sources, the Karni Sena activists, around 80,000 in number, reached Agra to celebrate Rana Sangas birth anniversary on Saturday. The activists, brandishing swords and sticks, arrived in the City of Taj not only from UP but also Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Their number is likely to go up further, said the sources. The Sena sources added that prominent Rajput leaders, including Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, Veer Pratap Singh and Sunny Singh, were also expected to join the congregation. Calling their gathering Rakt Swabhiman Sammelan, the Karni Sena activists assembled in a sprawling 50 bigha ground in Ram Garhi of Agra. Given the massive gathering, police and the district administration made tight security arrangements, with a three-layer security for the MP. Karni Sena national president Raj Shekhawat said, The programme is being held to express objections and expectations democratically. The government has given us the time at five o'clock for a meeting with the delegation to listen to their demands. We will hold the event within the discipline. Organising committee member Dheeraj Sikarwar said, This is a historic day when a message will be sent from Garhi Rami. In the wake of such a huge gathering, the district police also reached the venue. However, the cops had to face the anger of the agitated activists and they had to leave the place. The district police had put barricades at over 500 places to stop the march. Boulders were also placed at different locations on the road to restrict the movement of the Karni Sena activists. More than 10,000 PAC and police personnel were deployed across the Taj city and the drone monitoring continued the whole day. Moreover, Sumans residence had been converted into a chhavni (police camp) with the deployment of over 1,000 cops on the premises. The district authorities had sealed the one km stretch approaching Sumans residence. The SP MP had also deployed 10 bouncers for his personal security. Earlier on Thursday, the SP MP and his son Randhir Suman had moved Allahabad High Court seeking security in the wake of threats given by the Karni Sena and the incident of vandalism on his residence by Karni Sena activists on March 26. They had sought an apology from the MP while threatening to march again to Agra on April 12 in case Suman failed to comply. Rajput Karni Sena's national president Pratap Singh Kalvi, who had been camping in Agra for the last three days, said: Our demand letter is ready which includes the termination of membership of SP MP Ramjilal Suman, apology for the derogatory remarks made on Rashtraveer Rana Sanga, Bharat Ratna for the brave warrior, naming of Jewar Airport after Sanga, withdrawal of the cases registered against Karni Sena people and inclusion of Sanga's history in the curriculum. Significantly, the SP MP, on March 21, had said in Rajya Sabha that Indian Muslims did not consider Babur their ideal. They follow Muhammad Saheb and the Sufi tradition. However, I want to ask, who brought Babur here? It was Rana Sanga who invited Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodhi. So, if thats the case, then Hindus must be descendants of traitor Sanga. We criticise Babur, but why do we not criticise Rana Sanga?, the MP had asked the upper house. Consequently, over a thousand Karni Sena activists had caused a ruckus outside the house of Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman in Agra protesting his statement wherein he had called Rana Sanga a traitor. At the time of the incident, the RS MP was in Delhi attending the Parliament session. Moreover, a day after the protests at his residence by the Karni Sena activists in Agra, Ramji Lal Suman refused to apologise for his remarks on Rajput king Rana Sanga, saying one could not deny history.
Police team attacked during robbery suspect's arrest in Rajasthan's Sikar, 11 officers injured
JAIPUR: The incident took place late Tuesday night, when a police team attempting to arrest a suspect in an assault and robbery case was met with violent resistance in Daala Wali Dhani in Sikar. Villagers, who had earlier taken three policemen hostage, attacked the rescue team by pelting stones and vandalizing police vehicles. Eleven officers, including a Circle Inspector and a Sub-Inspector, sustained injuries. The confrontation took place around 11:30 PM. Upon learning of the situation, Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav arrived at the scene. By Wednesday morning, over a dozen individuals had been detained for disrupting public order. The violence stemmed from an earlier operation in which Head Constable Subhash and two constables from Ajitgarh police station had gone to arrest Mahipal, a suspect in an assault case. At the time, a wedding procession involving the suspects acquaintance was underway in the village. Seizing the moment, villagers captured the three officers. When the police received word of the hostage situation, a rescue operation was launched later that night. However, as soon as the police team entered the village, they were met with a barrage of stones from rooftops, and some women reportedly joined in physically assaulting the officers. Among those injured were Ajitgarh police station officer Mukesh Sepat and Khandela police station officer Indraprakash Yadav. Mukesh Sepat suffered severe head injuries and required stitches. As tensions escalated, police vehicles were damaged in the chaos. To bring the situation under control, the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary was deployed. Order was eventually restored, and multiple individuals involved in the attack were taken into custody. However, Mahipal, the prime suspect, managed to evade arrest. Police have assured that legal action will be taken against those responsible. The background of the case dates back to March 15, when a resident of Daala Wali Dhani, Ramnivas, filed a complaint against Mahipal and his associates. He alleged that he was assaulted and robbed by them that night. The FIR was officially lodged on March 22, with claims that the accused were known for their criminal activities. The incident has led to a political uproar, with Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara, who hails from Sikar, openly criticizing the BJP-led government. Sharing images of the injured policemen on social media, he condemned the attack as a failure of governance, questioning the safety of both law enforcement and common citizens. He accused the ruling party of being unable to control rising lawlessness, citing similar incidents in Tonk, Malpura, Kuchaman, and Hanumangarh. He further urged the Chief Minister to take decisive action and launch a crackdown against criminals. Dotasara also extended his wishes for the swift recovery of the injured officers.

Indians are among least satisfied with their love lives: Survey
NEW DELHI: A new global survey, conducted across 30 countries and released ahead of Valentine's Day, reveals that Indians are among the least satisfied with their love lives. The 'Love Life Satisfaction 2025' survey results were led by countries such as Colombia (82 per cent), Thailand (81 per cent), Mexico (81 per cent), Indonesia (81 per cent), and Malaysia (79 per cent). India at 63 per cent, South Korea at 59 per cent, and Japan at 56 per cent were at the bottom. It was conducted by leading market research and polling company Ipsos with a sample size of 23,765 adults across 30 countries and more than 2,000 in India. Indians largely live in joint families and those in nuclear families have familial responsibilities, work pressures, career and societal pressures, leaving less time for romance, physical intimacy and love, Ashwini Sirsikar, group service line leader, Ipsos UU & Synthesio, Indi, said in a statement. The survey also looked at different parameters separately to assess how Indians stacked up. While 64 per cent of Indians polled said they feel loved, only 57 per cent of Indians claimed to be satisfied with their romantic/ sex life. However, as per the findings, more Indians (67 per cent) were satisfied with the relationship shared with their spouse. Interestingly, happiness with sex life and partner was seen to be co-related. Some countries were outliers, like Brazil, South Korea and India, people are less satisfied with their partner compared to their level of satisfaction with their romantic/ sex life, it added. The findings also suggested those on a higher income were more likely to feel loved and be happier with their romantic/sex lives. For instance, it suggested that 83 per cent of high-income earners across 30 countries say they are satisfied with the love in their life compared to 76 per cent of those on a middle income and 69 per cent on a low income. The sample in India, which consisted of approximately 2,200 individuals, of whom approximately 1,800 were interviewed face-to-face and 400 were interviewed online.

Two sisters die after falling from fourth floor in Gurugram
Chandigarh: Two sisters in their early 20s died after falling from the fourth floor of a local businessman's house at Sector 40 in Gurugram, police said on Sunday. While the house owner's family claimed they fell from the balcony on Friday in a desperate bid to escape after a heft attempt, the deceased family has alleged foul play behind the deaths though no formal complaint of murder has been lodged yet, police said. The deceased have been identified as Chandni (23) and Rashmi (21), who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, they said. Chandni, who used to work at the businessman's residence as a domestic help, left the job around a month back, police said. The deceased lived in the servant's quarter of the building. The house owner told police that he and his family members were going to the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan's Sikar district on Friday. However, they returned home after travelling some distance as he had forgotten to take his medicines, police said. On reaching home, they found the main door open before hearing a loud thud. As they rushed to the balcony and looked down, they saw the two sisters lying in a pool of blood below. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead, police said. The house owner's family suspects that the two women broke into the house, as Chandni knew the access code of the electronic lock. Sector 40 police station SHO Lalit Kumar said the bodies have been handed over to the family after autopsy, adding that police are examining CCTV footage from the house.

Jaipur police arrest 14 involved in question paper leak case
JAIPUR: Jaipur police have arrested 14 people involved in the leakage of a question paper of an online examination conducted by the National Seeds Corporation. The investigation has unearthed a sophisticated cheating network and revealed an alarming collusion between candidates, computer lab operators, and examination centre employees. Among those arrested are computer lab operators and candidates who indulged in malpractice by using advanced software and digital tools during the examination. The police have confiscated key evidence including six admit cards, seven signed blank cheques, three laptops, a Wi-Fi router, a printer-scanner, and Rs 1,68,500 in cash. Eight suspects were detained by Jaipur police, while the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) apprehended six others. However, two key masterminds behind the operation remain at large, with authorities intensifying their search efforts. Initial investigations revealed that the cheating gang employed MEID software and other digital equipment to solve examination papers in real-time. Candidates had paid Rs 50,000 upfront for such services. The gang's network extends beyond this exam, as evidence indicates their involvement in other recruitment tests, including a Railway Protection Force examination conducted in December 2024 at a centre in Sikar. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph stated that the National Seeds Corporation's computerized recruitment exam was targeted by cheating gangs. Acting on intelligence, the police traced and detained suspects, uncovering the gang's elaborate cheating mechanism during interrogation. Additional names linked to the operation have emerged, and further investigations are underway. The paper leak scandal has reignited concerns about systemic vulnerabilities in Rajasthan's examination process. Similar issues had also plagued the previous Congress-led government. Under the previous regime led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, paper leak cases were reported in nearly a dozen recruitment examinations for government jobs in Rajasthan. The BJP had turned the paper leaks into a major poll issue in the assembly elections in the state last year. Ironically, the paper leaks seem to remain a persistent problem despite the BJP's one-year rule. With the state's examination integrity under scrutiny, authorities face mounting pressure to implement reforms and secure testing processes.
