Congress is BJP's 'team B', says Mamata Banerjee

TRIPURA : In an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress ahead of the Tripura Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), said on Tuesday that the BJP's team B is the Congress. TMC workers and supporters marched in Agartala on Tuesday in support of Mamata Banerjee, who is eager to increase her party's presence in other states ahead of the February 16 Tripura Assembly elections. Voter tallies will be tallied on March 2. In her remarks to the public gathering, Mamata said, We have worked for Bengal's growth. Swasthya Sathi cards are what we offer for health insurance. The Ayushman Bharat card issued by the national government lacks trust. She claimed that discussions about the Bengal model are taking place on a global scale. Under the double-engine government, unemployment has soared by 40% across the nation. Have they stayed true to their promises? Has the $15 million arrived in your account? She inquired. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate are sent to the homes of the Opposition leaders because, according to her, the BJP is unable to engage in political combat. Has black money returned since demonetization? Will we receive our money back if Life Insurance Corporation of India and State Bank of India fail? In the midst of the Adani controversy, Mamata remarked, If you people think that with the help of ED and CBI, we will be wiped away, that is not easy. Mamata criticised the BJP-led Centre, claiming that it is withholding the payment due for 100 days of work. She said that the federal government is also collecting state taxes. We have created jobs in the educational sector. However, legal action is being pursued against them because there might be some errors. Has something similar occurred in other states? CM of West Bengal, he stated. In connection with the alleged unauthorised appointment of assistant teachers through the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC), the CBI had already issued a chargesheet against 12 people, including Subiresh Bhattachary, the former chairman of the WBCSSC. The CBI also named a former assistant secretary of the WBCSSC, an ex-advisor, two former programme officers of the commission and six others in the chargesheet submitted before an Alipore special judge. Santi Prasad Sinha, Ashok Kr Saha, Kalyanmoy Ganguly, Parna Bose, Samarjit Acharya, Prasanna Kumar Roy, Pradip Singh, Jnui Das, Md Azad Ali Mirza, Imam Momin, and Rohit Kumar Jha were the accused listed in the chargesheet. The TMC leader attacked the Congress, calling it the BJP's team B. This Congress is not that I was once affiliated with, she said. If it was, I would have stayed at that party all night. This Congress is the BJP's B team. ISF joining hands with 'infidels' to defeat Mamata Banerjee: TMC MP Tripura Assembly Poll: BJP announces candidates for 48 seats

Congress leader in support of Sharjeel Imam who wants to cut Assam from India!

New Delhi: A Delhi court has acquitted 11 accused, including Sharjeel Imam, in the Jamia violence case. Senior Congress leader and former Home Minister P Chidambaram on Sunday said that the criminal justice system that tolerates pre-trial imprisonment is an insult to the Constitution. Chidambaram has urged the apex court to put an end to the daily abuse of law. New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday discharged 11 people, including former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students Sharjeel Imam, Asif Iqbal Tanha and Safoora Zargar, in the 2019 Jamia violence case. The court said in this case that the police had made them scapegoats. Dissent should not be encouraged to be suppressed, the Congress leader tweeted and asked, There is prima facie evidence against the accused. Some of the accused have been in jail for nearly three years. Some have got bail after several months. It is pre-trial incarceration. P Chidambaram tweeted one after the other that, 'Incompetent police and overzealous prosecutors are responsible for keeping citizens in jail before the case. What action will be taken against them?' The Congress leader has asked, 'Who will refund the months or years spent by the accused in jail?' Congress leader Chidambaram said, 'Our criminal justice system tolerates pre-trial imprisonment, this is a contempt of Articles 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution. The apex court should put an end to this daily misuse of law, the sooner the better.' What was the statement of Sharjeel Imam:- Although the speech of Sharjeel Imam is very long, here we are keeping that part in front of the readers, in which provocative and damaging things have been said about the integrity of the country. In the anti-CAA program, Sharjeel had said that 'the time has come for us to tell non-Muslims that if they are our sympathizers, then they should come and stand on our terms. If they do not stand on our terms then they are not our sympathizers. If 5 lakh people are organized with us, then we can separate the Northeast from India permanently. If not permanently, then at least for a one-half month, Assam can be cut off from India. Put so much pus on the tracks, on the road that it takes a month to remove them. If you want to go, go with the Air Force. You can also watch its video on YouTube. Chennai cops detain citys youngest councillor for screening BBC documentary

Politics The protest was organised by the Tamil Nadu wing of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). TNM Staff Courtesy/TamilNaduCPIMTwitter Body 2: Police in Chennai briefly detained A Priyadharshini, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) councillor for Teynampet, on Thursday, January 26, during a protest against the Union governments decision to block links on the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Modi. The protest at Chennais TP Chatram, near the Dr BR Ambedkar statue was organised by Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) linked with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M). According to a family member of the councillor, the protesters had intended to share the link to the banned documentary, titled India: The Modi Question , in order to watch it together on their phones. Police arrived at the location and took 14 of the protesters, including Priyadarshini, into preventive detention. All 14 were later released. However, the protesters were able to watch the documentary before the police arrived, the councillors family confirmed to TNM. Priyadharshini, who is part of the CPI(M), won from ward no 98, Teynampet during last years local urban body polls with a margin of over 5,253 votes. At 21, she is the youngest councillor in Chennai. The documentary alleges that at the time of the riots, the police had been stopped from taking action. Citing an internal UK government report that had been classified so far, the documentary says that, according to the British team that conducted the inquiry, Narendra Modi is directly responsible. The inquiry teams report in 2002 also purportedly said that the riots were to purge Muslims from Gujarat. The Union government termed the documentary propaganda and asked Twitter and YouTube to remove the links to the documentary by invoking emergency powers under Section 16 of the IT Rules, 2021. These links were blocked on January 20. BJP protests BBC Modi documentary screenings in Kerala, dispersed with water cannons

Protest Various political groups including the DYFI, SFI and the Youth Congress had announced that they would screen the controversial BBC documentary titled India: The Modi Question. Inputs PTI Screengrab The controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modis role in the 2002 Gujarat riots was screened across Kerala on Tuesday, January 24, by various political organisations including the Students Federation of India (SFI), even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) went up in arms protesting against the screening. BJP members took out protests in several parts of the state against the screening of the documentary, titled India: The Modi Question. In Thiruvananthapuram, police resorted to water cannons to disperse the protestors. Protest marches were taken out by BJP members to Victoria College in Palakkad and Government Law College in Ernakulam, where SFI followed through with its announcement to screen the documentary. In both places, police intervened to remove the protestors and prevent conflict. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala, said it will screen the documentary not just in the southern state, but across India. It has to be shown to the public irrespective of the attempts by the Union government to hide it, VK Sanoj, state secretary of the DYFI, told reporters. He said there was nothing anti-national about screening the documentary as it has not been banned. Meanwhile, former chief minister AK Antony's son Anil said that placing the views of the British broadcaster over Indian institutions would undermine the country's sovereignty. Despite large differences with BJP, I think those (in India) placing views of BBC, a state sponsored channel with a long history of (alleged India) prejudices, and of Jack Straw, the brain behind the Iraq war, over (Indian) institutions is setting a dangerous precedence, will undermine our sovereignty, Anil Antony, who had handled the digital communications of Congresss Kerala unit till recently, tweeted. Read: Gujarat riots pre-planned: Caravan accesses UK report shown on BBC Modi documentary Earlier in the day, various political groups in Kerala announced they would screen the documentary, prompting the BJP to urge Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to intervene and put a stop to such endeavours. The DYFI kicked off the political storm in the state over the documentary, by announcing on its Facebook page that it would be screened across the state. Subsequently, SFI and various wings of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), including the Youth Congress, followed suit. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee's (KPCC) minority cell also said that the documentary would be screened in all district headquarters of the state on Republic Day. BJP termed such move as reasonous and asked the Kerala CM to urgently intervene, and state party president K Surendran filed a complaint with CM Pinarayi demanding that permission be not given to screen the documentary in the state.
