Macworld September is the most important month in Apples calendar, featuring updates to the iPhone, Apple Watch, and (frequently) AirPods. But this year, October looks set to be even busier , and perhaps even more critical to the companys long-term prospects. Hints from the rumorsphere last week strongly suggested that Apple will announce a raft of smart-home products on October 13 , likely including a HomePad smart hub and potentially including a new Apple TV and HomePod mini as well. But separ

The macOS 27.2 beta gives developers and testers early access to Apples latest fixes, refinements and any features that werent ready for the initial Golden Gate release. Macworld Just a couple days after the wide release of iOS 27, Apple has released the first beta of iOS 27.2. Thats not a typo: its iOS 27.2, not 27.1. We never saw a 27.1 release, but Apple is beginning beta tests for the 27.2 branch. This likely has something to do with the iPhone Duo, which is going on sale in October. We know the iPhone Duo will come with iOS 27.1, but we dont yet know if any other devices will ever get a 27.1 update, or when all the devices will get on the same version toget

Macworld On this day 15 years ago, the world lost Steve Jobs after a years-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Youll read many posts throughout the day about what a great leader and visionary he was, but none will be sweeter or more poignant than the subtle tribute New Balance posted. If you ever watched one of Steve Jobs keynotes, you know his trademark outfit: a black turtleneck, blue jeans, black socks, and a pair of gray New Balance 992s . Macworld Portable power banks that charge your phone are popular, but wireless battery packs using Apples magnetic MagSafe technology offer a simpler and smarter cable-free solution for iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and Air users. Phone batteries are prone to run dry just when youre heading away from a power source, so having a portable charging source is one of todays necessities. Annoyingly, most power banks require you to carry around a cable, too. Wireless power banks do away with cables

Macworld If youve been using third-party apps on your Mac, you are probably familiar with a permission dialog box called Full Disk Access. Its sort of a big catch-all permission that lets an application read or write almost any data to your Macs drive. It was originally conceived as a way for apps to be able to fully back up and restore your hard drive, but developers have since used it as a shortcut for auto-updating apps, managment apps, among others. On my Mac, the Adobe Creative Cloud update

Macworld Since iOS 14, there is no longer an option to send photos as attachments. Apple changed the creation of new emails on iOS so that as soon as any additional formatting is used, the message is no longer sent as plain text but as an HTML email. As a result, inserted images are automatically displayed within the email and are not sent as separate attachments. Apple doesnt seem like it will change this soon. Here are some tips for sending emails with images from the iPhone. How to send iPhon

Macworld Apple has done as much as it can to minimize the visibility of the crease on the iPhone Duo, including multiple shifting display layers and a matte nano-texture surface that reduces glare and makes the crease less visible. But physics is what it is, and you just cant fold and unfold a display thousands of times without any visible crease forming. The good news is, Apple has another solution to help mitigate that: a replaceable outer layer. Speaking to @angietutorials on TikTok , Apples

Macworld You waited months for Apples new iPhones to arrive, but its worth protecting that big investment from day one. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are tougher than previous generations, but they can still be scratched, chipped or damaged in a drop.
