Constitutionally empowered, bound to keep foreigners off rolls: ECI to SC

The Election Commission of India has told the Supreme Court it has the constitutional power and duty to revise electoral rolls. This includes ensuring no foreigners are included. The poll body is conducting a special intensive revision of rolls in various states. Petitioners had challenged this process. The court will resume hearing arguments on January 8.
