India celebrates its 80th Independence Day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads the celebrations from Delhi's Red Fort amid tight security. This year marks 150 years of 'Vande Mataram', which will be formally sung at the venue for the first time.
'Vande Mataram' was played in full for the first time during the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flag hoisting. The rendition, performed by the Army band, was followed by the National Anthem.
