Red Fort blast: Court extends NIA custody of Soyab, Naseer Bilal by four more days
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday extended the NIA custody of Soyab , a Faridabad resident accused of harbouring Red Fort bomber Umar-un-Nabi, and Dr Naseer Bilal Malla , a resident of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, for four more days. The probe agency produced Soyab at the Patiala House Court amid tight security on Friday upon the expiry of his previous 10-day custody granted on December 5. Naseer was produced upon the expiry of his seven-day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody which was granted on December 9. Media persons were barred from covering the proceedings. The accused were produced before Principal and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna who allowed the probe agency to quiz Soyab and Naseer in its custody for four more days. An official spokesperson for the NIA had earlier said the agency arrested Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Haryana's Faridabad, for allegedly providing logistical support to errorist Umar-un-Nabi before the Delhi terror bomb blast. Dr Naseer Bilal Malla is the eighth accused arrested by the NIA in the case, which is linked to a white-collar terror module busted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The NIA team arrested the doctor from Delhi on December 9, calling him a key accused in the conspiracy. According to the NIA investigations, Naseer had knowingly harboured the dead accused Umar-un-Nabi by providing him logistical support. He is also accused of destruction of evidence related to the terrorist attack, the agency stated earlier on December 9. Umar-un-Nabi was driving the explosive-laden i20 car that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 10, killing 15 people and injuring several others. PTI had earlier reported that the sophisticated terror module spearheaded by a group of doctors had been actively scouting for a suicide bomber since last year, with Umar being the alleged key planner.

Delhi fourth most polluted city in India; all top 10 cities from Haryana, UP: Study
CHANDIGARH: Delhi ranked fourth among the most polluted cities in the country in November, as per a report released by Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). Ghaziabad topped the list, followed by Noida, Bahadurgarh, Delhi, Hapur, Greater Noida, Baghpat, Sonipat, Meerut and Rohtak. Despite a significant reduction in stubble-burning, 20 out of 29 cities in National Capital Region (NCR) recorded higher pollution levels than the previous year. Punjab and Haryana had been blamed in the past for being the primary cause of air pollution in the NCR; the two states have registered an 80 to 90 per cent drop in farm fire cases over the last four years. The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA)s November 2025 Monthly Air Quality Snapshot, draws data from real-time continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) PM2.5. The report indicates a substantial deterioration in air quality across the country. Ghaziabad emerged as the most polluted city in the country in November this year with a monthly average PM2.5 concentration of 224 g/m, violating the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) on every day of the month, the report stated. It further said the city experienced 19 Very Poor days, 10 Severe days, and one Poor day. The report further reads, Uttar Pradesh accounted for six of the top ten cities, followed by Haryana with three, along with Delhi. All cities in the top 10 list recorded higher PM2.5 levels than the previous year, except for Delhi. Delhi ranked as the fourth most polluted city, recording a monthly average PM2.5 concentration of 215 g/m in November, about twice its October level of 107 g/m. The city experienced 23 Very Poor days, six Severe days, and one Poor day throughout November, the report stated. Despite widespread pollution, the contribution of stubble burning was an average of 7 per cent in November, down from 20 per cent last year. Peak contributions of stubble burning reached 22 per cent, significantly lower than 38 per cent recorded in the previous year. Except for Bahadurgarh, none of the top ten cities recorded even a single day within the safe daily NAAQS limit. Several other cities, including Charkhi Dadri, Bulandshahr, Jind, Muzaffarnagar, Gurgaon, Khurja, Bhiwani, Karnal, Yamunanagar and Faridabad, also recorded PM2.5 levels above NAAQS every day of the month. Sonipat recorded very poor' air quality with PM 2.5 at 121-250 g/m on 29 of the 30 days, while Bahadurgarh remained the second most polluted with a PM 2.5 average of 215 g/m, it added. While seven cities of Punjab exceeded the standard as Mandi Gobindgarh was the most polluted in Punjab with PM 2.5 at 93 g/m. Despite a significant reduction in stubble-burning influence, 20 out of 29 NCR cities recorded higher pollution levels than the previous year, and many still did not register a single day within NAAQS limits. This clearly indicates that the dominant drivers are year-round sources such as transport, industry, power plants, and other combustion sources. Without sector-specific emission cuts, cities will continue to breach standards, said Manoj Kumar, analyst at CREA. At the state level, Rajasthan had the largest number of polluted cities, with 23 of 34 exceeding the NAAQS in November. Haryana had 22 of 25 such cities, while Uttar Pradesh had 14 of 20 above the standard. Pollution levels were also high across other states, with 9 of 12 cities in Madhya Pradesh, 9 of 14 in Odisha, and 7 of 8 in Punjab recording concentrations above NAAQS.

here . CCDC field staff collecting samples from a patient Excess dietary salt intake is a major preventable risk factor for hypertension and CVDs. Thus, salt reduction is recommended by most global health organizations and the National NCD Action Plan as a key strategy to reduce CVDs. Reducing the salt intake by 30% by 2025 is among the WHO's nine voluntary global targets. The most recent WHO status report shows that the world is far behind in achieving this target. Prof. (Dr) Dorairaj Prabhakaran, Executive Director, CCDC and senior author of the study, explained the relevance of these findings and population study in the context of national efforts to combat the global burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) reported in India. He said, One of the major concerns in terms of reducing salt intake is whether it would impact iodine consumption, given that there is a mandatory fortification of salt with iodine to prevent hypothyroidism and goitre. However, this study clearly shows that even with reduced sodium intake, iodine intake remains adequate, and the fear that lowering sodium intake will reduce iodine intake is misplaced. It is crucial, as a public health measure, to reduce sodium to reduce the prevalence of hypertension in the population. To give a context, more than 300 million Indians live with hypertension. And one of the most essential lifestyle measures is reducing salt intake. In this regard, the study has provided major insights: reducing salt intake will not adversely affect iodine intake. Speaking about the findings, Professor Sailesh Mohan, Deputy Director & Head-CVD Epidemiology, CCDC, and one of the senior study authors, said , Salt intake is high in India, and its reduction through population-wide efforts is an urgent imperative to control the rising burden of hypertension, which affects a third of Indian adults. This studys findings provide much-needed evidence to indicate that salt reduction to recommended levels is unlikely to impact iodine levels among adults. Study Design and Findings This study aimed to estimate the daily salt and iodine consumption levels of the adult population in India and examine the effect of the WHO-recommended salt intake levels on iodine levels. The study sites were selected to include slum and non-slum urban and rural areas. The urban part of the survey was conducted in Delhi, and the rural part in Faridabad, Haryana. Participant recruitment was done using a stratified random sampling method to recruit individuals from urban, urban slum, and rural areas, from 6 age and sex groups. Iodine in salt, which was collected from 205 households, was estimated by iodometric titration with sodium thiosulfate. All samples were analyzed in triplicate with two levels of controls. The intra- and interassay coefficient of variation were 1.39% and 1.42%, respectively Key Takeaways A cross-sectional study was conducted in Delhi and Haryana, India, among adults aged 20 years, and 24-hour urine samples were collected to assess the salt and iodine levels. Sample - The mean salt intake was 8.07 g/d (95% confidence interval: 7.03, 9.11), median urinary iodine concentration (UIC) was 167.8 g/L (102.63284.5), and the mean urinary iodine excretion (UIE) was 276.1 g/ 24h (254.5297.8). Observation - Analysis to assess iodine intake adequacy by salt intake levels indicated that the median UIC, as well as UIE, were adequate when salt intake was as per the WHO- WHO-recommended level, i.e., 5 g/d. The conclusion was that even at the WHO-recommended salt intake levels, population iodine intake in this study population was adequate, likely indicating that upward titration in iodine concentration in salt may not be required. Conclusion - Thus, current salt reduction recommendations are unlikely to impact iodine supplementation efforts, indicating compatibility between the 2 interventions, which should be continuously monitored through robust surveillance. This study demonstrates that in India, where universal salt iodization is mandatory, a reduction in salt intake to WHOs recommended levels of 5 g/d does not compromise the level of iodine intake among participants as measured by 24-h UIC and UIE in adults. These findings provide strong support for the WHOs recommendations to reduce population salt intake to prevent hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, and also allay concerns regarding the requirement of an upward iodine titration in salt to account for the reduced dietary salt intake. Thus, current salt reduction recommendations are unlikely to impact iodine supplementation efforts, indicating compatibility between the 2 interventions. The study protocol was approved by the Indian Health Ministrys Screening Committee and the ethics committee of the Centre for Chronic Disease Control, New Delhi. It was supported by a funding award made by the Global Alliance for Chronic Disease through the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia (NHMRC). About CCDC The Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) is leading efforts to transform public health and empower public health professionals to combat the growing challenge of chronic diseases across India and low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Established in 2000 as a non-profit scientific organization, this Delhi-based organization has been working alongside the Government of India (GoI) to reduce the burden of chronic diseases in India.

SC frees woman jailed for changing six lawyers
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has ordered the release of a woman jailed by a lower court for changing her lawyers six times during an appeal in a cheque bounce case, describing the order as appalling and shocking. The case involves two dishonoured cheques issued by the womans mother, worth Rs 7 lakh and Rs 5.02 lakh respectively. The trial court convicted and sentenced both the mother and daughter. The woman subsequently filed an appeal before the sessions court in Faridabad, which has been pending for eight years, the bench noted. Meanwhile, the sessions court cancelled their bail and ordered their custody. The mother and daughter challenged this decision in the high court and later the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justices Arvind Kumar and N V Anjaria, in an order dated November 27, noted that the mother had passed away, but the appellate court had not accepted her death certificate. The sessions court directed the concerned Station House Officer to verify the legitimacy of the certificate. The bench observed that if the lawyer was not assisting the court, the proper action would have been to appoint an amicus curiae or allow the accused time to arrange alternate counsel not to jail her. The court ordered the womans release on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh.It is appalling and shocking that the appellate court insisted on the appellants presence on every hearing date, particularly after suspending the sentence already passed, the bench said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe has revealed that Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui , chairman and founder of Al Falah University , acquired land in south-east Delhis Madanpur Khadar through forged documents executed in the names of at least five deceased landowners, sources said on Friday. The Haryana-based university has come under the scanner after three doctors working there were found to be part of the white-collar terror module linked to the 10 November Red Fort car blast that killed 13 people. Siddiqui, who was arrested last week on money laundering charges, is presently in ED custody. According to officials, the agency has so far identified several land parcels in Delhi that were acquired by Siddiquis private company, Tarbiya Education Foundation, through forged powers of attorney, some of which were executed decades after the actual landowners had died. During the investigation, we examined all the financial details and found that forged General Power of Attorney (GPA) was used to sell land in the names of dead owners, and it was ultimately acquired by Tarbia Education Foundation of Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui, said an agency official. A probe has also revealed that the land in Khasra No. 792, Madanpur Khadar, was acquired through fraud by Tarbia Education Foundation. The deed records a sale of land in Khasra No. 792 (and related land) in favour of Tarbia Education Foundation, for a consideration of Rs 75,00,000. The ED has found that the GPA is false and fabricated. The signatures/thumb impressions of the deceased are forged. The land was transferred on the basis of forged GPA and the ultimate beneficiary is Tarbia Education Foundation, which purchased the land on the basis of forged GPA by sellers, the official said. An examination of documents has revealed that one man, identified as Vinod Kumar, held the power of attorney for at least five landowners who were already dead by the time the power of attorney was registered on 7 January 2004, according to the official. The agency has found that one landowner, Nathu, died on 1 January 1972, followed by Harbans Singh, who died on 27 April 1991; Harkesh, who died on 12 June 1993; Shiv Dayal, who died on 22 January 1998; and Jay Ram, who died on 15 October 1998. Interestingly, the date of GPA registration of all these people in favour of Vinod Kumar is 7 January 2004, and it was later sold to Tarbia on 27 June 2013, the official said. The GPA registration carried the names and signatures or thumb impressions of the deceased landowners. The agency has also found that in several instances the purported signatories had died long before the GPA was executed in January 2004. A GPA said to be signed by a dead person has no legal authority, but despite this, a registered sale deed dated 27 June 2013 was executed, he said. Siddiqui was arrested on 18 November, hours after multiple ED teams conducted searches at 25 locations across Delhi and Faridabad linked to the Al Falah Group in connection with alleged fraudulent claims of accreditation and financial irregularities by the groups flagship institutions. Delhi Police have also registered two FIRs based on a complaint from the UGC. One FIR alleges cheating, while the other invokes charges of forgery. The Association of Indian Universities has revoked Al Falah Universitys membership. Earlier, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) issued a notice asking the private university to explain why the UGC should not be asked to withdraw its recognition. The university had claimed on its website that its Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology and Al Falah School of Education and Training had A grades from the NAAC.

J&K police raid sites linked to banned Jamaat-e-Islami amid crackdown on 'terror support ecosystem'
Police on Thursday launched coordinated raids and inspections across the Kashmir Valley, targeting locations linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and conducting city-wide checks at madrassas and mosques as part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at dismantling what authorities described as the terror support ecosystem. Officials said searches were carried out in Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Budgam and Kupwara. The raids targeted residential premises and business establishments linked to JeI members and their associates following credible intelligence suggesting anti-national activities. Electronic devices, documents and literature were seized for detailed scrutiny, they said. In Srinagar, police conducted extensive searches at the residences and establishments of Umar Sultan Guru from Chanpora, Mohammad Abdullah Wani from Budgam, currently residing at Mandir Bagh Baghat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat from Bemina, Mohammad Ramzan Naik alias Faheem from Lal Bazar, Bashir Ahmad Lone from Harwan, and Manzoor Ahmad of Nowgam Chowk. Searches were also conducted at locations associated with JeI-affiliated institutions, including the residences of Mohammad Ramzan Lone of Soura (Ramzana Memorial Educational Institute), Shahid Zahgeer of Buchpora Soura (Ramzana Memorial School), and Peer Giyas Ud Din of Nowgam (Falah Research Ramzan Centre), officials said. Police also raided several institutions linked to JeI ideology, including Jamiat-ul-Banaat at Kashmir University in Lal Bazar, Rahat Manzil (JK Yateem Khana) in Bagh-i-Nand Singh, Chattabal, Chinar Publication Trust in Maisuma and Al-Kousar Book Shop in Maisuma. In Kupwara, searches were conducted at the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora, Handwara, based on information indicating suspected unlawful activities. The crackdown intensified following the 10 November blast near Delhis Red Fort metro station, which left 13 people dead. The doctor believed to have been driving the car that exploded was identified as Umar Nabi, a resident of Kashmir. J&K police raid hospitals, prisons, and chemical stores in crackdown on Delhi blast-linked terror networks Two days later, the Union government described the incident as a terrorist incident. Hours before the blast, police had cracked an inter-state and transnational terror module in Faridabad and Uttar Pradeshs Saharanpur. Subsequent investigations, police said, led to the recovery of nearly 3,000 kg of explosives-making material from various locations, including Faridabad. On 12 November, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids at more than 300 locations linked to persons affiliated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami after intelligence inputs indicated attempts to revive the proscribed organisation under different names. As investigations continued, the explosives recovered earlier blew up during sampling at the Nowgam police station on the outskirts of Srinagar on 14 November, killing nine people and injuring 32. Against this backdrop, Srinagar Police on Thursday carried out fresh inspections at madrassas and masjids across all zones. A police spokesman said the checks were part of the larger effort to counter radicalisation and strengthen de-radicalisation measures. The inspection is part of an ongoing crackdown against individuals and networks associated with terrorist organisations to dismantle the terror support ecosystem in the region and strengthen de-radicalisation efforts, he said. Search teams, accompanied by executive magistrates and independent witnesses, inspected digital devices, documents and other materials to gather evidence related to terror-linked or radical activities inimical to the security and integrity of the nation. Police said the operations were conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage. These searches will continue wherever credible inputs indicate the presence of individuals or materials linked to terror or radicalised activities prejudicial to the security of the nation, the spokesman said. Police urged citizens to cooperate with ongoing investigations and report suspicious activity. Haryana cracks down against drunk driving with over 63,000 challans this year, Gurgaon tops cases
CHANDIGARH: Haryana has recorded a total of 63,073 challans for drunk driving this year in a major crackdown, with Gurgaon topping the list, followed by Faridabad and Karnal. Haryana has recorded a total of 63,073 challans for drunk-driving this year, with Gurgaon topping the list, followed by Faridabad and Karnal District-wise data from the Haryana Police shows that between January 1 and November 24, Gurgaon recorded the highest number of challans at 24,972, followed by Faridabad (7,402), Karnal (4,851), Panchkula (4,180), and Jind (3,109). Acting on instructions from the Haryana Police headquarters, regular special drives have been conducted across all districts. The purpose of these drives is not only to curb drunken driving but also to strictly monitor lane discipline, noise pollution and misuse of red-blue lights. After reviewing weekly reports, the police headquarters has directed districts to make these campaigns even more effective and result-oriented, a police spokesperson said. He added that the numbers reflect intensified monitoring across high-risk corridors, supported by dedicated night-time patrolling. Special police teams have also been deployed at all toll plazas from 6 p.m. to 10 pm, equipped with alco-sensor and e-challan machines so that drunk drivers can be checked on the spot and action taken without delay. On-the-spot checks allow officers to act immediately against offenders, significantly boosting highway safety and deterring risky late-evening driving behaviour. While enforcement remains strict, police officials emphasise that the campaigns primary goal is to change behaviour, not merely issue challans. The message is clear: drunk driving endangers the driver as well as every other commuter on the road, he said. Haryana Police has appealed to citizens to stay alert and advise family, friends and colleagues not to drive under the influence of alcohol. About 15 days ago, Haryana DGP O P Singh had suggested out-of-the-box ideas to curb drunken driving without humiliating anyone. For example, talk to the restaurant owner. If there are four people in a group, they could serve only three so the fourth wont drink. Or the owner could tell them that if all four have had drinks, take an Uber. The police can even coordinate with restaurants to ensure drunk patrons get home safely instead of being harassed at checkpoints, he had said. He further noted that Gurugram is like Amsterdam, Singapore or Hong Kong, cities known for their energy, youth and single working populations. Many single men and women working here have no family; their friends are their family. When they finish work on Friday, they go out this happens globally. So please, do not harass them when they are returning, he had said. He urged officers to avoid excessive barricading and traffic jams and instead explore smarter solutions such as real-time surveillance, technology integration and partnerships with nightlife establishments. Singh emphasised that while drunken driving is unforgivable, the enforcement approach must remain humane and non-confrontational.

IM operative Shadab Beg back under scanner after new links to Faridabad University emerge
LUCKNOW: Indian Mujahideen operative Mirza Shadab Beg of Azamgarh, wanted in connection with several serial blasts across the country, is once again under the scrutiny of probe agencies following new intelligence inputs linking him to Al Falah University in Faridabad. According to UP ATS sources, Beg completed his BTech in Electronics and Instrumentation from Al Falah University around 2007. Investigators suspect he came in contact with extremist networks during his student years and later used his technical training to support bomb-making activities and arrange logistics for the Indian Mujahideen. Records show that Beg was a key accused in the 2007 Gorakhpur blast and the serial bombings in Jaipur and Ahmedabad in 2008. Officials say he was part of core IM modules responsible for reconnaissance, procurement of explosives and the supply of critical components such as detonators and metal bearings used in the attacks. Property linked to Beg has been seized in Uttar Pradesh after his name surfaced in connection with Al Falah University. He has remained on central agencies most-wanted lists for years. Back home, his family claims that Beg, who left 18 years ago, never returned, and they only received occasional information about his movements after he went missing. Intelligence inputs suggest he went underground soon after the 2008 blasts to evade crackdowns on IM operatives. Agencies now believe he has been absconding for nearly two decades, making him one of the longest-surviving fugitives associated with the outfit. Sources also claim that Beg visited Afghanistan in 2019. Investigators are probing the support channels that helped him leave India and exploring his suspected links with regional extremist groups. The recent Delhi terror blast has intensified scrutiny of Al Falah University, with security agencies reviewing old student records and networks to determine whether Beg attempted to recruit others on campus. Sources said efforts are under way to trace Beg and dismantle any remaining networks linked to him.

Haryana Police fast-tracks Anti-Terror Squad plan after Red Fort blast
CHANDIGARH: After the November 10 Red Fort blast that killed 15 people and the exposure of a Faridabad white-collar terror module linked to the attack, the Haryana Police has revived and fast-tracked its long-pending plan to set up an Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) focused on Islamic extremist factions and Khalistani separatist networks. The ATS will prioritise counter-terror operations across the National Capital Region (NCR), covering fourteen Haryana districts, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat and Jhajjar, areas repeatedly flagged in national security alerts. Sources said the dormant proposal has now been pushed into action. The planned ATS will be equipped with three integrated wings, intelligence gathering, complex investigations and field operations, modelled on other elite units in the country. Officials said the squad will concentrate on emerging threats from Islamic extremists, Khalistani outfits and nodes of left-wing extremism. Officials said the ATS marks a generational shift in the states counter-terror approach by integrating intelligence, investigation and operational capacity into a single, high-tech framework. The commandos at the ATS disposal will be trained for precision operations based on information from field and digital surveillance, said a senior police officer, highlighting the units tech-driven vision. A senior official said the ATS headquarters may be set up in Panchkula or Gurugram to ensure synergy with NCR-focused operations and proximity to national agencies. The unit will employ advanced surveillance tools and analytic systems to monitor both online and offline spaces for early signs of mobilisation. Each of the more than 150 police stations in NCR districts will assign a dedicated security agent for daily terror-intelligence collection under the direct supervision of a senior officer. Speaking to the TNIE , Haryana DGP O P Singh said, Our effort is to scan every layer, analogue and digital, for the earliest signs of mobilisation. We want to move from reactive policing to proactive, intelligence-led disruption of threats. ED arrests Al Falah University founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in PMLA case amid Red Fort blast probe A critical plank of the ATS is its operational wing, a force of 500 commandos trained in advanced counter-terror tactics, urban warfare and critical incident management, Singh added, emphasising both manpower and modernisation in the proposed units effectiveness. He further said, Our mandate is early neutralisation of threats through layered intelligence, swift investigation and precise operations. Haryana will not be a soft target. ATS is not a one-time exercise but a continuous vigil. This squad will embody our long-term commitment to internal security and public trust. The ATS will work in coordination with central agencies and ATS units in Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Terror knows no boundaries between states. Seamless sharing of actionable leads and synchronised interventions are essential to prevent catastrophic events, said another senior officer involved in the planning. The final plan is still being refined, though officials say the structure will draw from best practices across elite North Indian units. Currently, the Haryana CID handles intelligence gathering related to terrorist activity.

SC stays Haryana STF's probe against Delhi lawyer; confirms interim bail in murder case
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the Haryana Police Special Task Force investigation against a Delhi-based advocate who was arrested in a murder case. A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices Prasanna B Varale and K Vinod Chandran also confirmed the interim bail granted earlier by it on November 12 to lawyer Vikram Singh in the case. It took note of the submissions of senior advocate Vikas Singh and said that the probe, qua the lawyer, will not proceed. I am not asking for discharge today, let the status report be called from the CBI, after that, if the bench thinks it's fit for discharge... The way the prosecution is behaving in this case is atrocious! the senior lawyer said. The bench, however, did not stay the entire investigation in the matter and said the plea for handing over the probe to the CBI will be taken up later. On Wednesday, the senior advocate alleged that the lawyer had been subjected to custodial torture and arrested solely to extract information about his clients. He was tied to a pole all night and made to sleep like that. WhatsApp messages were sent despite this court's order restraining such communication. He was given third-degree torture. He was threatened that his hair would be cut, and it was cut immediately at the police station, Vikas Singh said. He also alleged that STF officials were pressuring Vikram Singh to settle a gang-war because he represented certain accused. How can a lawyer settle matters between hardened gangsters? he asked and urged the bench to confirm the interim bail already granted and to transfer the probe to the CBI, considering the seriousness of the allegations. He also pointed out that although the top court ordered the advocate's release on November 12, he was freed only on November 13 at 8.30 pm. The counsel for Haryana denied any wrongdoing and submitted that Vikram Singh's bail bond was furnished only the next day, and that the release followed immediately thereafter. He also said that the petitioner was making misleading statements and that the grounds of arrest had been duly supplied. He added that it was the advocate who had initiated WhatsApp communication with the investigating officer. Opposing any move to involve the CBI, the state counsel said that the murder case was being handled by the STF and transferring the present grievances would amount to transferring the entire investigation. So what is the issue? The CBI will investigate it much better, the CJI said and listed the plea for the hearing on Thursday. Earlier, while granting the bail, the court had directed that Vikram Singh be released forthwith on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 10,000, and posted the matter for Wednesday. The bench directed the registrar (judicial) of the top court to communicate the order to the Gurugram police commissioner for immediate compliance. At the outset, Vikas Singh, who is also president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said that anybody practising criminal law will now be susceptible to these kinds of coercive measures. He said the arrested advocate was representing gangsters, but these kinds of police atrocities against lawyers were impermissible. Vikram Singh, an advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi since July 2019, was lodged in Faridabad jail before the grant of bail. In the course of his professional duties, the petitioner has represented several clients in criminal cases between 2021 and 2025, including persons alleged to have connections with one Kapil Sangwan @ Nandu. All such representations were undertaken purely in the discharge of his professional obligations and in conformity with the Advocates Act and the standards of professional ethics. However, instead of respecting the independence of the Bar, the investigating agency has sought to criminalise the petitioner's professional association with his clients, thereby undermining the rule of law and the sanctity of the advocate-client relationship, the plea said. It said the lawyer was targeted after an application was filed before a court alleging custodial assault on one of his clients, Jyoti Prakash alias 'Baba', who reportedly suffered a leg fracture in STF custody. The retaliatory action by the investigating agency culminated in my illegal arrest, the petition said. It said Vikram Singh was arrested on October 31 without a written grounds of arrest or independent witnesses, in violation of Articles 21 and 22 of the Constitution. On November 1, a trial court in Faridabad remanded Singh to judicial custody for 14 days by a mechanical and non-speaking order, devoid of any reasoning or material connecting him to the alleged offences, it said.
Punjab police to seek custody of Anmol Bishnoi after NIA interrogation
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab police will be seeking custody of deported gangster Anmol Bishnoi after the National Investigation Agency has completed interrogating him, a senior state police official said on condition of anonymity. The Punjab Police will move to court and seek his custody to break the criminal nexus being run in the state, the source added. As per state police records, Anmol is named as an accused in 16 FIRs registered across Punjab between October 2012 and July 2025, including charges of murder, extortion, robbery, attempt to murder, and Arms Act in Punjab. Anmol Bishnoi has been deported from the United States and was arrested by the National Investigation Agency(NIA) for his alleged key role in the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewal. Several questions remain unanswered despite a charge sheet being filed in the Sidhu Moosewala case, sources said. Anmols interrogation, they believe, will be crucial in filling these gaps and uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy. He is accused of being a key conspirator in the murder of Sidhu, as he provided logistical support and weapons to the assailants who shot the singer dead at his native village in Mansa on May 29, 2022. Anmol is a key conspirator along with Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. We will bring him on a production warrant, he added. In 2012, the first case was registered on Anmol at Abohar City Police Station on charges of attempt to murder, voluntary causing grievous injury, acts with intention and arms act. Then two years later, he was booked at the Sadar Police Station at Abohar on charges of trespass, theft, and Arms Act. Anmol hails from Dutarawali village in the Fazilka district of Punjab. Most of the FIRs are registered against him in Abohar and Fazilka. Sources said that on June 15, 2022, Punjab Police shared the first input with the Intelligence Bureau that Anmol fled to Dubai between November 19 and November 20, 2021, from Jaipur using a fake passport in the name of Bhanu Pratap, a resident of Sector 82, Faridabad, Haryana, with the fathers name mentioned as Rakesh. In reality, his father is Lovinder Bishnoi, and he is a resident of Dutranwali village in Fazilka. Afterwards, a case was later registered at the Punjab State Crime Police Station, Mohali, against him on charges of forgery, forgery of public records, using a forged document, criminal conspiracy, extortion, and under sections of the Passports Act for obtaining a passport by furnishing fake particulars. Later, a court issued his open warrants in this case, said sources. On June 24, 2022, the Bureau of Immigration issued a look-out circular for Anmol on the request of Punjab Police and on July 20, the same year state home department wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting the initiation of the process for the arrest and deportation. Sources said that the NIA yesterday arrested him in a case registered in 2022 to investigate an alleged nexus between criminal gangs in India and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a designated terrorist organisation, to raise funds, recruit youths and carry out terror strikes in the country.

US deports 200 Indians, including Anmol Bishnoi
CHANDIGARH: A special US deportation flight carrying 200 Indians, including Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother and close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, two other fugitives wanted in Punjab, and 197 undocumented migrants landed in New Delhi on Wednesday. Anmol is wanted in multiple criminal cases in India, including the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022 and Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique in October 2024, and firing at actor Shah Rukh Khans residence in April 2024. As soon as the special US flight landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Bishnoi was detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He was later produced at Delhis Patiala House court, which sent him to 11 days NIA custody. We are trying to find how he fled India, Special Public Prosecutor Rahul Tyagi said, adding that Anmol will be produced before the court again on November 29 after completion of his NIA custody. Al Falah Group chairman's family property in MP's Mhow gets notice for unauthorised construction
MHOW: The Mhow Cantonment Board in Madhya Pradesh has issued a notice to the occupants and legal heirs of a residential property, belonging to Al Falah Group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui's family , in which it directed that unauthorised constructions there be razed within three days, an official said. Faridabad-based Al Falah University, run by the Al Falah Group, is emerging as an epicentre of investigation in the November 10 Delhi blast case that killed 12 persons and injured several others. Cantonment Engineer H S Kaloya said, We have issued a notice to the house of the late Moulana Hammad, who is the father of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui. As per the notice, the department had previously issued multiple communications dating back to 1996 and 1997 under relevant sections of the Cantonments Act, 1924, directing the removal of the unauthorised construction. However, despite repeated notifications, the construction in question was reportedly not removed. The latest notice instructs the current occupant or legal heirs of the property to remove the unauthorised structure within three days, he said. If the direction is not complied with, the cantonment board will undertake removal action, and the cost incurred will be recovered from the concerned party as per the provisions of the Cantonments Act, the official said. This property - house number 1371 - is located on survey number 245/1245 located in the Mukeri Mohalla area of Mhow. The Madhya Pradesh police have earlier arrested Hamood Ahmed Siddiqui, the brother of Jawad Siddiqui, from Hyderabad in connection with a 25-year old case. Hamood, who is accused of orchestrating a large-scale financial fraud in MP's Mhow 25 years ago, was arrested on Sunday, an official said. Notably, the Delhi blast prime accused, Dr Umar Un Nabi, was a student of Al Falah University. Several suspects linked to the Delhi blast are believed to have had associations with the university, prompting investigators to examine institutional records, financial transactions and administrative approvals. ED probe against Al-Falah group unearths 'cheating' to the tune of Rs 415 crore
NEW DELHI: The initial financial probe into the Al-Falah group has unearthed alleged cheating to the tune of Rs 415 crore, said a senior officer in the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The agency is also probing the foreign funding it has received so far. The group, whose Haryana-based university has come under the scanner after three doctors working there were found to be suspects in the November 10 Red Fort blast that killed 13 people, is being investigated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The varsity based in Faridabad allegedly cheated students and parents by using the false claim that it is accredited with the NAAC and recognised under Section 12(B) of the UGC to attract admissions and fees. A forensic analysis of income tax returns from the financial years 2014-15 to 2024-25 showed a unified financial structure, said the ED. The bank accounts of Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Al-Falah School of Education and Training, Al-Falah University and the overarching Al-Falah Charitable Trust were all operated under a single Permanent Account Number (PAN). ED arrests Al Falah University founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in PMLA case amid Red Fort blast probe The data reveals a steady stream of revenue declared as Receipts from main object or Educational Revenue. From FY 2018-19 to FY 2024-25, these declared incomes surged, including Rs 41.97 crore in 2019-20, Rs 89.28 crore in 2022-23 and Rs 80.10 crore in 2024-25. The ED has concluded that the aggregate educational income during the years the institutes were operating without valid accreditation amounts to Rs 415.10 crore. The agency has stated that these are proceeds of crime rather than steady income to run the institution citing that these receipts were collected by deception, using false statutory and false accreditation claims, thereby directly linking the funds to the scheduled offences of cheating and forgery. The ED also said that there are critical red flags in the group's financials. The financials of the various entities are at variance with the huge amount of assets / wealth accumulated by the group, it said. The agency is probing potential diversions of funds such as the alleged routing of hostel and mess fees to a family-run entity named Anla Enterprises LLP and funds transferred to another family-linked firm, Karkun Construction and Developers, for construction contracts. The agency has got 13 days custody of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman and founder of the varsity, who was arrested on November 18 on charges of money laundering.

ED arrests Al Falah University founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in PMLA case amid Red Fort blast probe
NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, Chairman of the Al Falah Group, after a day-long raid at the premises of the trust. The Al-Falah University based in Haryana has come under the scanner after three doctors working there were accused in the Red Fort blast , that killed 12 people. They were allegedly part of what the investigative agencies have described as the white-collar terror module. According to ED, Jawad Ahmed has been arrested in a different case, under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in connection with alleged financial irregularities at the Al-Falah University. He has been produced before the court for the purpose of seeking ED custody. Sources said entities tied to the Al-Falah Trust were also being examined for suspected fund diversion and layering. Siddiqui was arrested hours after multiple teams of the agency conducted searches at 25 locations across Delhi and Faridabad linked to the Al-Falah Group in connection with alleged fraudulent accreditation claims and financial irregularities by the groups flagship institutions. Officials said he was arrested after a detailed investigation and analysis of evidence gathered during search operations at premises related to the Al-Falah Group. Siddiqui has been the managing trustee of the Al-Falah Charitable Trust since 1995, exercising complete control over the trust and its network of educational institutions. Exhaustive evidence, including cash recovered from trustees, diversion of funds to family concerns, layering of funds, etc., clearly establishes the pattern of generation and layering of proceeds of crime. After establishing his culpability, he was arrested following due legal procedure, an official said. The Al-Falah Charitable Trust, the official added, was constituted through a public charitable trust deed dated September 8, 1995, with Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui named as one of the first trustees and designated as the managing trustee. All the educational institutions (university and colleges) are ultimately owned and financially consolidated under this trust, which is effectively controlled by Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui. The entire Al-Falah Group has seen a meteoric rise since the 1990s, metamorphosing into a large educational body. However, the rise is not backed by adequate financials, he said. Last week, the government asked the ED to review the financial trail of the institution following a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Madhya Pradesh police arrests Al-Falah University founder's brother in 25-year-old investment fraud case In a coordinated enforcement operation at 5:15 a.m. today, officials executed search actions at 25 premises of the Al-Falah Group in connection with the ongoing investigation into financial irregularities, use of shell companies, accommodation entities and money laundering, an ED official said. The role of the Al-Falah Trust and related entities is under investigation. Key personnel overseeing finance and administration have also been covered, he said. According to officials, nine shell companies linked to the Al-Falah Group, all registered at a single address, are under examination. Early findings point to multiple risk indicators consistent with shell-company behaviour, including no physical presence or meaningful utility consumption at declared places of business, common mobile numbers and email addresses across various companies and accounts, the official said. Other indicators include the absence of EPFO/ESIC filings inconsistent with the reported scale of operations, overlapping directors/signatories and weak KYC trails across entities, minimal salary disbursal through banking channels, absence of HR records, synchronised incorporation patterns and common contact coordinates across firms, he added. Delhi Police has also registered two FIRs on a complaint from the University Grants Commission (UGC). One FIR alleges cheating, while the second invokes charges of forgery. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has revoked Al-Falah Universitys membership amid accusations of its linkage with the error module. Earlier, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) issued a show-cause notice seeking the university's response on alleged irregularities. According to the notice, the university had claimed on its now-inaccessible website that its Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology and Al-Falah School of Education and Training had been awarded A grades by the NAAC. However, the engineering school and the education-and-training school were accredited in 2013 and 2011, respectively, for five years each, and the validity of those accreditations expired long ago. The university did not seek fresh accreditation after the expiry, making its continued claim about the A grades misleading, the notice said. Punjab CM Mann secures deferral on key state issues at Northern Zonal Council meeting
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said the BJP-led Centre had agreed to defer as many as 11 agenda items related to the state, which were part of the deliberations during the meeting of the North Zonal Council (NZC) in Faridabad on Monday. Speaking to reporters, CM Mann said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered a status quo on most of the issues related to Punjab. The issue about staff appointment in the administration and institutions of Chandigarh has been referred to the NZC standing committee, he added. Mann criticised the NZC members including Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh for attempting to infringe the rights of the states. He said that it is unfortunate that Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh are unnecessarily mounting pressure on Punjab. The Punjab CM alleged that the leadership of these states have made a mockery of the platform by making unjust demands seeking a share in the resources of the state and even its rivers. He said that in the NZC meeting, all the member states put forth their views, and as the head of the state, he also presented the case of Punjab. Out of a total 28 agenda items, 11 were related to Punjab, and for the first time, due to the strenuous efforts of the state government, all of them were deferred, he said. Those who are making a fuss over river waters must understand one thing, a real-time assessment of the availability of river waters should be made, for which the presence of water must be reviewed, Mann said. Mann quipped that Haryana has made a very strange demand --that Punjab should be restrained from constructing mini hydel projects on the Bhakra Main Line (BML) on the grounds that it would hamper the flow of water. He said it was surprising that the naive leadership of Haryana was indulging in such baseless tantrums far removed from facts. He added that issues related to the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) can be resolved only through the Yamuna Satluj Link (YSL), which would ensure the judicious use of Yamuna water. Punjab, he stressed, has no surplus water to divert through the SYL, and no scientific calculation has ever been carried out regarding water availability. Mann categorically reiterated that Punjab has no spare water to share with any state --there is no question about it, he said. In the wake of the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, he said there is now a significant opportunity to resolve long-pending water-related issues concerning the states represented at the meeting. There is a possibility, he added, of linking the Chenab river with the Ravi and Beas rivers, over which dams already regulate downstream water flow. He said that linking the Chenab with the Ravi and Beas would allow the surplus water inflow to be used productively by downstream states, including Punjab, for both power generation and irrigation. The additional water, he said, would also help Punjab bridge its water shortfall, particularly in the border areas. On the issue of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Mann said he had strongly opposed the proposal to appoint a whole-time member in the BBMB from Rajasthan, arguing that the board was constituted under the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, and concerns only the successor states of Punjab and Haryana. Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh are already represented as ex officio members, he said, and creating additional whole-time posts would only increase expenditure --most of which is borne by Punjab-- without serving any useful purpose. Mann said he had also forcefully reiterated Punjabs longstanding demand for the transfer of Chandigarh to the state, noting that after the reorganisation of Punjab, the Indira Gandhi Agreement of 1970 clearly stated that the capital project area of Chandigarh will, as a whole, go to Punjab, reflecting an explicit commitment from the Centre. The Rajiv-Longowal Accord, signed on July 24, 1985, he added, reaffirmed that Chandigarh would be transferred to Punjab. On maintaining the 60:40 ratio in the intake of service personnel from Punjab and Haryana in the functioning of the UT of Chandigarh, the Chief Minister said that preserving the status quo was essential. He expressed concern that IAS and PCS officers from Punjab were being excluded from key positions in the Chandigarh administration. Posts in departments such as Excise, Education, Finance and Health, he said, were now being opened to cadres like the UT cadre (DANICS), thereby undermining Punjabs role in the effective functioning of the UT administration. He said Haryana and Himachal Pradesh had unilaterally withdrawn their colleges from Panjab University in 1973 and 1975 respectively, set up their own universities, and stopped funding Panjab University altogether. He said Punjab alone had supported and nurtured the university for 50 years, and questioned why Haryana now wanted to affiliate its colleges with Panjab University when they have been affiliated for decades with Kurukshetra University, an A+ NAAC-accredited institution. Mann reiterated that there should be no change in the status of Panjab University, adding that Panjab University is our university, and we will continue to support and fund it in the future as well.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Director General of Police Singh on Monday directed senior officials to investigate the security lapses that enabled some doctors to join a white-collar terror module and allegedly use Al Falah University at Dhouj in Faridabad as their hideout. During his visit to the institute, where he spent nearly four hours inspecting the premises, he also instructed officials to trace the missing faculty members at the earliest and take immediate action. He further directed officials to check all religious institutions and ensure that fundamental elements are not leading anyone towards sectarianism. Singh, who was accompanied by ADIG/CID officials, interacted with security personnel, staff, students, faculty members, local residents, and the family of the mosque cleric associated with the university. He personally inspected the areas used by the terrorists. After visiting the university, Singh said, The security lapses in the university are being investigated to determine how such vicious individuals made it their hideout and got hold of such a huge quantity of ammunition and weapons. He held a joint meeting with the Faridabad Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Commissioner and instructed them to ensure that the faculty members who have been missing since the incident are located at the earliest. He also directed the officers to alert the central agencies about such individuals. Sharing details about his visit to the university and his subsequent meeting with the two senior officers, Singh wrote in Hindi in a post on the social media platform X, where he said he had asked the officers to speak to the students to reassure them that actions were being taken for their safety and that they need not panic. I spent four hours this morning at Al Falah University with ADIG/CID. I spoke with the security, administrative officers, faculty, students, people from the nearby village, and the family members of a cleric. I inspected the terrorists hideouts, he wrote. Singh also directed the officials to check all religious institutions and ensure that fundamental elements are not leading anyone towards sectarianism. The operation is aimed at ensuring that such incidents are not repeated, and that the public and students feel safe, he said. The university has come under the scanner following the busting of the white-collar terror module and the blast near the Red Fort on November 10, which claimed 15 lives. Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed both arrested as part of the investigation into the terror module were connected to the university, while Dr Umar Nabi, who was driving the Hyundai i20 that exploded in the Red Fort area, was an assistant professor at the university. The roles of several doctors linked to the university and to Kashmir are under the scanner of the probe agencies. The blast occurred shortly after authorities recently busted the white-collar terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The investigation agencies have seized around 2,900 kg of explosive material from two rented rooms in Faridabad and detained or arrested several individuals, including doctors connected to Al Falah University and a cleric linked to a mosque in Faridabad.
In a significant move, the high-ranking police official from Haryana made a critical visit to Al Falah University in Faridabad. Prompting an extensive investigation into security breaches, this visit comes after the alarming revelation of a terror group using the university as a refuge.
Video of prime accused in Delhi blast surfaces; calls suicide bombing 'martyrdom operation'
NEW DELHI: A week after the Red Fort blast that killed 13 people and injured several others, a purported video allegedly recorded by prime accused, Dr Umar un Nabi , has surfaced, in which he is seen discussing suicide bombing and referring to it as a martyrdom operation. In the video, whose authenticity the TNIE cannot independently verify, he said, One of the very misunderstood concepts is the concept of what has been addressed as suicide bombing. It is a martyrdom operation. There are multiple arguments and contradictions that have been brought against it. When a person presumes that he is going to die for sure at a particular place at a particular time, he goes against the presumption that a person is going to die in a particular situation. On November 10, around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving i20 car exploded near the Red Fort, claiming the lives of 13 people and injuring several others. Umar Nabi was behind the wheel of the vehicle. The conspirators of the Red Fort blast in Delhi were planning to weaponise drones with explosives and rockets, officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Monday, a day after arresting a key associate of alleged suicide bomber Dr Umar. The agency arrested Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish, from Srinagar alleging that he was an active co-conspirator. Jasir is a resident of Qazigund in south Kashmirs Kulgam district and had provided technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the deadly car bomb blast near the Red Fort. The multi-state, multi-agency investigation into the attack continued on Monday, with investigators taking further crucial steps in Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi, among other states. The probe into the Delhi blast has revealed that terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed are increasingly recruiting highly educated professionals, including doctors. Earlier this month, soon after a major explosives seizure in Faridabad, the Jammu and Kashmir police said they had busted an inter-state and transnational module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. According to police, 50-year-old Hamud has been accused in four cases: one dating back to 1988, which pertained to rioting and attempted murder, and three cases on alleged investment fraud registered in 2000. The police said the arrest was part of a special drive to nab wanted criminals who have been on the run for years. ...In 1996, he (Humud) operated an investment firm with the help of his wife and another person. The firm secured investments from individuals with the promise of 20% returns. He ran the firm for two years but then fled from Mhow without returning the investors money, said Indore Rural district police superintendent Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia. In 2000, three cases under Section 420 IPC were registered at Mhow police station against Hamud on complaints by investors who allegedly lost investments to the tune of Rs 40 lakh-plus, she added. The Al-Falah Fincom Investment Private Limited, which was operated by Hamud as its managing director along with his wife and another person in the late 1990s, is accused of duping investors to the tune of Rs 40 lakh plus. Jawad Ahmad was summoned by the Delhi Police earlier today in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Faridabad terror module case and the two cases registered against Al-Falah University for alleged forgery and cheating. According to Parvez Ahmad, an advocate based in Mhow town of Indore district, it was Jawad Ahmad who had originally started an investment firm in Mhow in the early 1990s under the name Al-Falah Investment, which operated from the family's ancestral home in Kayastha Mohalla. While Jawad left Mhow and shifted to Delhi, his brother Hamud opened a new investment firm, Al-Fahad, which allegedly indulged in multiple cases of investment fraud. Abdul Khalid, who was an employee at Al-Fahad, was later arrested in the investment fraud case after he started his own firm. But Hamud remained at large for more than two decades, police said. JKSA flags collective suspicion of Kashmiri students post Delhi car blast; seeks PM intervention
NEW DELHI: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday alleged that Kashmiri students across several northern states are facing profiling, eviction and intimidation in the aftermath of the Red Fort blast in Delhi, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to publicly intervene to call off the vilification of the community. Addressing a press conference here, JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said a particular community is being targeted after the attack, claiming that Kashmiri students are being harassed in universities and localities in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. Kashmiri students believe in India's democracy and in the mainstream, not in terrorism. But they are being profiled and vilified by authorities and local people across states. Many landlords have asked Kashmiri tenants to vacate their rooms, forcing several students to return home out of fear, Khuehami said. He added that the association had o objection to any investigation into the blast, but demanded that the Centre ensure the safety of Kashmiri students and prevent collective suspicion. We request the Prime Minister to make a public statement. Kashmiris are as much a part of this country as any other citizen, he said. The JKSA also condemned the blast outside the Red Fort in the strongest words and sought a fair investigation and strict action against the culprits. The car explosion near Red Fort on November 10, which killed 13 people , has triggered a sweeping, multi-agency investigation involving the Delhi Police Special Cell, NIA and Crime Branch. Three people, including two doctors from Haryana's Al Falah University, have been detained as part of the probe. Police have also registered two separate FIRs against Al Falah University under cheating and forgery charges following regulatory violations flagged by the UGC and NAAC. A police team visited the university's Okhla office on Saturday to gather details of individuals under scrutiny. Officials said the detained doctors , Mohammad and Mustakim, were known to Dr Umar Nabi, the driver of the car that exploded, and were allegedly in touch with Dr Muzammil Ganaie, arrested earlier in a suspected white-collar terror module case . Their statements are being examined to assess their possible role in the broader conspiracy. Investigators are also probing the role of a Faridabad-based man accused of illegally selling fertilisers, as evidence suggests the module pooled around Rs 26 lakh to acquire explosive materials, including NPK fertiliser. Since the blast, police have checked more than 500 people from Jammu and Kashmir in Faridabad alone as part of heightened security measures, according to officials. The NIA is now probing the wider conspiracy after the initial UAPA FIR was transferred to the agency. Delhi police summons Al Falah University chairman in terror module, forgery probes
