'Musharraf was the real power of peace', Tharoor praises former Pak President

Islamabad: Former President and dictator of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf has passed away at the age of 79. Musharraf was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dubai. After Musharraf's death, a tweet by senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor created a ruckus. Congress leader Tharoor has termed Musharraf as the real power for peace. BJP's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has attacked Tharoor for this tweet. Pervez Musharraf, Former Pakistani President, Dies of Rare Disease: once an implacable foe of India, he became a real force for peace 2002-2007 I met him annually in those days at the @un &found him smart, engaging & clear in his strategic thinking RIP https://tco/1Pvqp8cvjE Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) February 5, 2023 Condoling the death of former Pakistan President and dictator Pervez Musharraf, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Sunday (February 5) that Musharraf, once a staunch enemy of India, had become a real power for peace between 2002 and 2007.Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf passed away due to a rare disease. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor further wrote, 'I had met him every year in those days at the United Nations and found him shrewd and clear in his diplomatic views. May God give peace to the departed soul. Now an uproar has arisen overthis tweet made by the Congress leader. The BJP has attacked him for his statement.' Parvez Musharraf who had hailed Osama Bin Laden & Taliban had sung praises of Rahul Gandhi too - called him a gentleman and pledged his support to him!! Perhaps this is the reason why Shashi Tharoor is eulogising the architect of Kargil & a backer of terrorism!! Sigh https://t.co/nhE1emXqV8 pic.twitter.com/tYRt7UxEFH Shehzad Jai Hind (@Shehzad_Ind) February 5, 2023 BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla wrote in tweeting that, ''Pervez Musharraf, architect of Kargil war, dictator, accused of heinous crimes, who considered Taliban and Osama bin Laden as brothers and heroes, who refused to take back the dead bodies of his own martyred soldiers. Heis being praised by Congress. Are you surprised? Once again Congress's Pakism!''Poonawalla has also shared screen shots of some news along with his tweet. Pervez Musharraf- architect of Kargil, dictator, accused of heinous crimes - who considered Taliban & Osama as brothers & heroes - who refused to even take back bodies of his own dead soldiers is being hailed by Congress! Are you surprised? Again, Congress ki pak parasti! 1/2 pic.twitter.com/I7NnLRRUZM Shehzad Jai Hind (@Shehzad_Ind) February 5, 2023 Poonawalla has said in another tweet that, Pervez Musharraf who had praised Osama bin Laden and the Taliban, had also praised Rahul Gandhi. He called Rahul a gentleman and promised to support him. Perhaps this is the reason why Shashi Tharoor is glorifying the architect of Kargil and a supporter of terrorism. Attacking the Congress, Poonawalla tweeted that, from 370 to the surgical strike, the Congress, which doubted Balakot, is hailing Musharraf, while our own Army Chief was called a road goon by the Congress. Pervez Musharraf had been the President and Army Chief of Pakistan. He took command of Pakistan by overthrowing the democratic government of Nawaz Sharif in the year 1999 and was the President of Pakistan from June 20, 2001 to August 18, 2008. Terrorist attacks on India increased during Musharraf's tenure. In 2005, Parade magazine included Musharraf in the list of the world's 10 worst dictators. 'Tejashwi Yadav doesn't have a cabinet', Congress on Bihar cabinet expansion Joshimath-like situation in J&K's Doda, people said- Where to go now? Congress leader in support of Sharjeel Imam who wants to cut Assam from India!

Digvijaya's remarks on surgical strikes ridiculous: Rahul Gandhi

Politics Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the armed forces do not need to give any proof and distanced the party from Digvijaya SInghs comments. PTI Rahul Gandhi, File Photo Snubbing Digvijaya Singh for questioning surgical strikes, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 24, Tuesday, termed his comments idiculous and said the armed forces are doing their job exceptionally well and do not need to give any proof. Gandhi, who faced a volley of questions from the media on Singh's remarks on surgical strikes and the Pulwama terror attack, said he and the party completely disagreed with his statement. There are people who will say ridiculous things during conversation. I am sorry to say so about a senior leader, he said a ridiculous thing, Gandhi told a press conference in Jammu and Kashmir. We have full trust in our army. If army performs any task, there is no need to give any proof. I completely disagree with his statement and this is the official position of the Congress party that it is personal point of view of Digvijaya Singh, he added. Singh on Monday had questioned the surgical strikes and accused the government of peddling lies. Addressing a public meeting during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh alleged that the government did not agree to the CRPF request of flying its personnel from Srinagar to Delhi and 40 soldiers sacrificed their lives in Pulwama in 2019 to a terror attack. They talk of surgical strikes. They claim to have killed so many people but no proof is given. They are ruling by peddling a bundle of lies, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who has often courted controversy with his comments, said. Asked about action being taken by the Congress against Singh, Gandhi said the Congress is a democratic party and ot a dictatorship. We don't run our party on the principle of coercion. We don't appreciate Singh's personal views. But views of the party are above Digvijaya Singh's views. The views are generated from the conversation within the party. I would like to assure you that his views...are not views that are held by the centre of the party, he said.We are absolutely clear that armed forces do a job. They do the job exceptionally well. They don't need to be providing proof for anything, he said. Gandhi said it is in the culture of the Congress to allow conversations. Sometimes when those conversations happen and people who have extreme views tell their views. However, in BJP and RSS there is no practice of conversation. Once they decide anything and nobody can talk after that, he added.
