Raghubir Yadav and Anshuman Jhas upcoming father-son drama comedy has undergone a title change. Originally titled Hari-Om, the film will now be released as Om Ka Hari. The change comes after the makers, First Ray Films, were unable to secure the rights to the original title from Tips. According to the makers, the title Hari-Om had been used for a film over two decades ago, with the rights currently held by Tips. Since the company did not agree to part with the title, the team decided to retain the essence of the original name while giving the film a new title that also connects directly with its central characters. Anshuman Jha, who plays Om in the film, explained the reasoning behind the change. He said, Yes, the film was originally going to be called Hari-Om but because we didn't get the title rights, we did the next best thing. Om & Hari are deeply spiritual words, culturally resonant with our great nation & Harish Vyas wanted to express the Father Vs Son Dynamic through the names of the characters which is Om & Hari. Om Ka Hari-the tiele is a testament that a son eventually does become the father & the father becomes the son in a deeper sense and that life itself is circular. And therefore Om Ka Hari is the most appropriate title for this picture. Directed by Harish Vyas, Om Ka Hari revolves around the relationship between a father and his son. The shift from Hari-Om to Om Ka Hari also reflects the dynamic between the two characters, with the names Hari and Om forming an integral part of the films central theme. The film stars Raghubir Yadav as Hari and Anshuman Jha as Om, alongside Soni Razdan, Ayesha Kapur and Samta Sudhiksha in key roles. The story explores the evolving equation between a father and son while examining the cyclical nature of relationships and generations. Produced by First Ray Films, Om Ka Hari is scheduled to release exclusively in cinemas in September 2026. Swara Bhasker has revisited the controversy surrounding her 2018 open letter to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after watching Padmaavat. Years after the films release, Swara explained that the debate around her letter largely focused on one particular line, while the broader concerns she raised about women, sexual violence and the portrayal of jauhar received less attention. Speaking at an event hosted by the India International Centre (IIC) in Delhi, Swara recalled her reaction to the films climax. Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, was released in January 2018 following months of controversy. Inspired by Malik Muhammad Jayasis 16th-century epic poem Padmavat, the film revolves around Rani Padmavati and the conflict between Rajput ruler Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji. Swara said the depiction of jauhar, in which hundreds of women collectively die by self-immolation, made her question the message being conveyed to survivors of sexual violence. Im watching this, these 800 women committing jauhar, and I was like, yaar, if I had been, God forbid, if I was a rape survivor, what is this film telling me? I would feel like a coward, that I didnt kill myself to save my honour. Is that what you want to tell in a society like ours, where I feel like theres anyway a rape epidemic? she said. She further questioned the connection between a womans life and the idea of sexual purity. Is this what we want to tell our survivors, that you didnt deserve to live? That if you actually had been honourable and brave women, you would have killed yourself. Are we saying that rape is the end of a womans life? she said. Swara also recalled being particularly disturbed by a close-up of a pregnant woman during the jauhar sequence. And then there was that one shot, it made me so mad, I was like, chiii, in the audience loudly. There is a close-up of a pregnant womans belly. And she is going, so youre saying that a foetus that might be female doesnt deserve to be born, because she might be raped by a Muslim ruler? she said. The actor clarified that she did not write her open letter immediately after watching the film. Instead, she waited five days to reflect on her response. And then I came out and I was like this is terrible. And normally people think that I do these things out of rage. But I waited for five days. And I was like, let me check if I still feel like this. And then at the end of five days, I wrote this letter, she recalled. Published by The Wire in January 2018, the letter questioned the glorification of jauhar and the portrayal of womens worth through sexual purity. Swara said the subsequent discussion, however, focused heavily on one phrase from the letter. I just want to say that when it got published, there was one line in the letter where I was trying to say that women are more than their private parts. And watching this film made me feel that Im reduced to a vagina, she said. The 31st Busan International Film Festival has unveiled the trailer of Selvi, the upcoming Tamil-language drama produced by and starring National Film Award-winning actor Anjali Patil. Directed by debut filmmaker Sailesh Rathnakumar, the film has been selected for the prestigious Vision Asia section of the festival and is set to have its world premiere at Busan in October. Selvi is one of only two Indian films selected for the Vision Asia section, which features a curated lineup of 11 titles from across Asia. The films selection marks another international platform for Indian independent cinema and comes ahead of its world premiere. The trailer introduces Anjali Patil as Selvi, a migrant home-care nurse whose daily life revolves around caring for others. As the narrative progresses, the film explores her experiences as a migrant worker while gradually revealing the personal circumstances and choices that shape her life. The story brings together themes of migration, female friendship, caregiving and the emotional toll of everyday work. What begins as an intimate portrait of a woman navigating her professional and personal responsibilities gradually develops into a deeper exploration of labour, dignity, survival and the complexities of human relationships. Speaking about the film and its selection at Busan, Anjali Patil said, Migration and caregiving are two subjects that the world has been discussing at length. People move across borders in search of work and dignity, while caregivers often become the backbone of families and communities, carrying emotional and physical responsibilities that remain largely unseen. With Selvi, we wanted to bring an Indian point of view to these very global conversations. This is a story rooted in our realities, our people and our lived experiences, but the questions it raises about migration, care, labour, dignity and survival belong to the world. To now have the trailer of the film unveiled at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival feels meaningful. Independent cinema thrives on the freedom to ask difficult questions, to look at lives that don't always make it into the mainstream narrative. So as an actor and producer, it feels liberating to see Selvi find this platform. Director Sailesh Rathnakumar added, For a debut filmmaker, having your work recognised on a global stage is a dream, but having the Busan International Film Festival unveil its trailer is an absolute honour. Selvi grew from an observation that Bargav had made during the pandemic, of home-care workers who cross borders and leave their own families behind to care for ours. That observation stayed with us and became the starting point for this story. To see BIFF champion this narrative as one of only two Indian films in the Vision section is especially validating. It underlines how localised, intimate stories can find a universal resonance. We made this film with patience and a deep commitment to authenticity, and we cannot wait to share Selvis world with an international audience this October. The film features Vinoth Kishan, Swathy Krishnan, Raja Krishnamoorty, Archana Padmini and Mekha Rajan alongside Patil. Nine-time National Film Award winner A. Sreekar Prasad has edited the film, while Bargav Sridhar serves as co-writer and cinematographer. Anand Krishnamoorthi has handled the sound design, with Suren Vikhash composing the music. Selvi is co-produced by the Red Sea Fund, an initiative of the Red Sea International Film Festival, and supported by Hong Kong Asia Film Financing. The film will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October. Also Read: Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Anjali Patil wrap up the shoot of their next romantic feature film

What makes an Aditya Datt film? Five signatures Gunmaaster G9 could bring together
Aditya Datt has spent two decades moving between romance, thrillers, action and biographical drama, but the genres have changed more than the filmmaker's instincts. From Aashiq Banaya Aapneand Table No. 21 to Commando 3 and Bad Cop, Datt's works have repeatedly been built around characters pushed into difficult situations, action that serves the story and emotion that gives the spectacle its stakes. With Gunmaaster G9, he returns to Emraan Hashmi and, intriguingly, to Himesh Reshammiya, almost 20 years after their Aashiq Banaya Aapne collaboration. The teaser promises guns, romance and high-octane action, but if Datt's track record is any indication, there could be considerably more happening beneath the noise. Here are five signatures that could define his next. 1. Conflict That Drives the Story Datt's stories rarely rely on action or twists for their own sake. Conflict is usually what sets the characters in motion. Aashiq Banaya Aapne used a romantic triangle to build jealousy, betrayal and tension, while Table No. 21 turned a seemingly harmless holiday into a psychological battle where every round pushed its protagonists closer to uncomfortable truths. In Gunmaaster G9, the conflict again appears personal: Emraan's character seems to be fighting not simply to survive, but for love. 2. Characters Under Pressure Put Datt's characters in a comfortable situation, and there probably isn't much of a film. In Table No. 21, Rajeev Khandelwal and Tina Desai's married couple are progressively pushed beyond their limits as the game exposes secrets and consequences. Commando 3 took that pressure into action territory, putting Vidyut Jammwal's commando against a threat where failure has national consequences. Datt's heroes work best when the pressure keeps escalating, and Gunmaaster G9 appears to follow that template. 3. Action With Purpose Datt has previously spoken about wanting action to be purposeful rather than simply spectacular. That philosophy was central to Commando 3, where physicality was tied to character and story. In Bad Cop, the series which featured Anurag Kashyap as the antagonist and Gulshan Devaiah in a double role, the action choreographed for the criminals was different from that of the cop. With Gunmaaster G9, the guns and fights may be bigger, but the interesting question is what drives them. If Datt's past work is a guide, every punch, chase and shootout should mean something. 4. Emotion Beneath the Action Even when Datt goes big on spectacle, emotion tends to remain the anchor. Table No. 21 ultimately wasn't about a game; it was about a marriage and the consequences of choices. Karenjit Kaur - The Untold Story of Sunny Leone, similarly looked beyond the public persona to explore family, relationships, ambition and identity. That emotional layer could give Gunmaaster G9 its weight. In the teaser, Emraans character is portrayed as someone who is fighting for love, which makes the action an extension of his emotional stakes. 5. Music With an Identity Music has been a Datt signature from the very beginning. Aashiq Banaya Aapne gave Himesh Reshammiya his breakthrough as a playback singer with its iconic title track, while Table No. 21 featured Gajendra Verma's Mann Mera. Commando 3, meanwhile, delivered tracks including 'Knock Knock Tera Baap Aaya.' Integral to his work is how he designs music, and Datt has consistently found space for songs that become part of a film's identity rather than mere soundtrack fillers. Now, with Himesh returning for Gunmaaster G9, that musical connection comes full circle. Interestingly, many begin their roads to success with Datt, be it Himesh Reshammiya or Tanushree Dutta, Geeta Basra or even Shabina Khan, the choreographer. Across his filmography, Datt has repeatedly put characters under pressure, made action serve a purpose and used music and emotion to give his worlds an identity. Gunmaaster G9 could bring all five instincts together, making it a seamless version of the Datt signature.
