Kalyani Priyadarshan has shared a glimpse of her next project Pralay, which stars Ranveer Singh and marks her first collaboration with the Bollywood actor. Amid the ongoing buzz around Singhs upcoming projects, the actress took to social media to reveal that she is currently busy with the films work in Mumbai. Kalyani shared a photograph of the front page of the Pralay script, offering fans a glimpse at the project. In the accompanying post, the actress revealed that she is spending Onam away from her family this year as she remains occupied with the film. She also mentioned missing out on the traditional celebrations and Sadhya with her family. Fully locked in to Pralay in Mumbai this Onam, so no Sadhya with the fam, no pretty white saree pics, no festive content. Heres a dump of random things from the last couple months instead. Hope you all had a truly happy Onam, she wrote. The post has added to the curiosity around Pralay, which is expected to explore a dystopian setting with elements of the zombie apocalypse. The film marks the directorial debut of Jai Mehta, son of filmmaker Hansal Mehta, and is being produced by Applause Entertainment. While details about the plot and Kalyanis character have not been revealed yet, Pralay is said to combine the survival elements associated with a zombie apocalypse with an emotional family-driven narrative. The story reportedly focuses on one mans efforts to protect his family in extreme circumstances. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kalyani Priyadarshan (@kalyanipriyadarshan) The project is currently in the pre-production stage, with the team working towards mounting the film. Ranveer Singhs involvement has generated interest in the project, particularly as the actor continues to line up films following the success and attention surrounding his recent work. For Kalyani, Pralay marks her debut Hindi venture. The actress had a great 2025 wherein her role as the first female Indian superhero in in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, brought increased attention to her work beyond the Malayalam film industry. Although the makers have not yet revealed the release date or detailed information about the films storyline, Kalyanis social media update provides one of the latest glimpses into Pralay. Her decision to share the script cover while revealing that she is currently immersed in the project has further fuelled anticipation around the Ranveer Singh starrer. More details about the cast, production schedule and release plans are expected to be announced by the makers in the coming months. Filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah and his production house Sunshine Pictures have released the third episode of their short-form crime series Bada Jurm Choti Kahani. Titled File 3: The Love Letter, the latest episode follows an investigation that begins with a mysterious death and a seemingly old romantic letter that turns out to be connected to a much more recent event. The weekly thriller series is a digital venture from Sunshine Pictures and is spearheaded by Sanjay Upadhyay, Creative Head of Sunshine Digital. The AI-powered series presents short crime stories designed around fictional investigations and releases a new episode every Thursday on the production houses official YouTube channel. File 3: The Love Letter centres on Mahesh Verma, a retired school teacher who is found dead inside his study. Investigators discover an old-looking romantic letter addressed to a woman named Shalini on his desk. Given the nature of the letter, the initial assumption is that Maheshs death could be linked to a relationship from his past. His son Amit also believes that his father may have been hiding a secret. The investigation takes a different direction when forensic analysis reveals that the letter is not decades old, as it initially appears to be. Instead, the paper was written only a few days before Maheshs death. This discovery prompts investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the letter and Maheshs final days more closely. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sunshine Pictures (@sunshinepicturesofficial) As the case develops, investigators discover a hidden code embedded within the letter. The seemingly straightforward piece of writing therefore becomes an important clue, with the code pointing towards information Mahesh may have intended to reveal before his death. The episode combines the crime investigation with a family element, focusing on the relationship between Mahesh and his son. Rather than centring solely on the murder, the narrative uses the letter and its hidden message to explore the consequences of secrets within families. The episode concludes with a reflection on the relationship between parents and children: Parents want to understand their children, spend time with them, and live their lives alongside them... but sadly, sometimes they realize the truth far too late. Bada Jurm Choti Kahani previously began its weekly release following Sunshine Pictures short-form digital venture Ankahee. With File 3: The Love Letter, the series continues its format of presenting standalone crime stories built around clues, investigations and twists. Priyanka Chopras mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, has shared her views on the controversy surrounding Kriti Sanons Raksha Bandhan advertisement for jewellery brand GIVA. Addressing the debate over Kritis outfit and the presentation of the festival, Madhu said that while she agrees with the principle of my body, my choice, she also believes that certain boundaries and cultural considerations should be kept in mind. The advertisement featured Kriti in an ivory bralette-style blouse paired with a cape and long skirt as she tied a rakhi to her on-screen brother and a pet. The campaign aimed to highlight the idea that the bond of protection associated with Raksha Bandhan can also extend to pets. However, the advertisement faced criticism from a section of social media users, particularly over Kritis outfit and the way the festival was depicted. Speaking to the media about the controversy, Madhu said, My body, my choice is right, but woh daayra zaruri hai. Dignity, respecting other peoples values is important. Ab yeh cheezein aisi jagah kar sakte hai jahan par yeh normal hai. Par yeh yahan normal nahi hai. Sorry to say that. She further explained that people, including her own children, may wear such outfits for professional or personal reasons, but she believes clothing should also suit the occasion and setting. Hamare bacche bhi pehente hai, kaam ke liye pehente hai, shauk ke liye pehente hai par jahan yeh normal ho aur mere khayal se acceptable aesthetically hona zaruri hai. Kriti, meanwhile, defended the campaign and questioned the criticism surrounding her appearance. Imagine being this bothered by what another woman chooses to wear. Respectfully, evolve. PS: Im the one she tied the rakhi to, and if I dont have a problem with it, why do you? The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear; it is in the emotions and meaning you attach to the traditions. She also explained the inclusion of pets in the campaign, saying, Raksha Bandhan is a bond of protection. My sister and I tie rakhi to each other. We know we can protect each other just as much as a brother would. We pray for each others health, happiness, and long life. For us, this prayer and promise extend to our dogs too. After all, they are family! Kriti further addressed the clothing debate, writing, Also, when will we stop telling women what to wear? Ethnic fashion has evolved over the years, yet a womans respect for her culture is still measured by her clothes. Culture and traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline! Actor Kangana Ranaut also criticised the campaign, questioning its styling and portrayal of Raksha Bandhan. She said, From all the options that are available to us today why would you tie your brother a Rakhi in your bikini/under garments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha the advert looks intentionally creepy. Later, Kangana clarified that Kritis bralette was not her primary concern. She said, Who is stopping her from wearing whatever she wants? Who has ever stopped her? I dont think anyone has bothered about her clothes. The controversy eventually led GIVA to withdraw the advertisement from all media platforms. In its statement, the brand said, We have the highest regard and deep respect for Indian culture, traditions and festivals. As a brand, we have always believed in celebrating these joyous moments with the entire family and this time we wanted to extend the love and celebration to our pets. If our recent advertisement has inadvertently hurt the sentiments of some segments of society, that was not our intent at all. Out of respect, we have withdrawn the said advertisement from all media. Wish you all the love & positivity this festive season! Also Read : Priyanka Chopra shares Sunday dump from Hyderabad feat. mother Madhu and daughter Malti Marie!
Taapsee Pannu has spoken about her decision to turn down certain film roles to avoid being confined to a particular image in the industry. Known for featuring in female-led and issue-based films such as Pink, Mulk, Thappad and Assi, the actor is now preparing for the release of Gandhari, an action thriller centred on a mothers fight to save her daughter. In a recent interview with news agency PTI, Taapsee discussed the challenges of avoiding typecasting in an industry where actors can often become associated with a specific kind of role. She said filmmakers frequently rely on familiar casting patterns, with certain actors repeatedly chosen for glamorous parts and others for more hard-hitting subjects. Everybody is going into their comfort zone and using tried-and-tested methods. For instance, for glamorous roles, they (industry) have a set of five actresses they can cast, and for hard-hitting, issue-based films, they have another set of five actresses to cast. I've actually started turning down films for this reason, telling makers that the audience will easily guess the ending. So, (I tell them) 'Don't cast me in this, it's bad for your film'. I've gone and 'de-sold' myself to a few films, she said. Taapsee also reflected on how her career developed differently from the conventional mainstream path. It's a snowball effect. From the beginning of my career, I had no options in regular mainstream cliched roles, which are actually money-spinners for actresses. I didn't get those kinds of roles; hence I took the other type of roles, and to my luck, those films and roles later became mainstream, she said. Directed by Devashish Makhija and written and produced by Kanika Dhillon, Gandhari follows a mother navigating danger and hidden truths after her daughter goes missing. Taapsee described the characters response as something beyond limits when a child is taken away. It's more like a mother's response, like how far can she go if her child is taken away from her? It's different from a crime against women. A child can be anyone's child, but the point is that if her offspring is taken away and she has to take things into her own hands, how far can she go? According to my understanding, there is no limit; you have unleashed a superpower that no one can control, Pannu said. The film also features Ishwak Singh, Jatin Sarna, Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht and Chhaya Kadam. Gandhari premieres on Netflix on September 3. Taapsee Pannu, Kanika Dhillon and Guneet Monga Kapoor attended a session organized by WIF India and Kathha Pictures on women driving Indian cinema and the rise of female-led collaborations. The host asked whether it becomes difficult to mount female-led films, more so when a film, fronted by a heroine, bombs at the box office. Guneet Monga Kapoor said, A film, whether led by a man or a woman, when it works, it works. However, we are used to putting things in a box. At Sikhya Entertainment, the company that I run, we just got invested in. With that investment, we are making 4 films which are women-led. One of it is directed by someone fresh out of a film institute. I saw her short film and encouraged her to direct for us. She added, We live by examples and with the assumptions that 'Yeh film uski tarah hai', 'Yeh film nahin chali toh woh nahin chalegi'. But thats life. These are the cards that have been presented to us on the table. We cannot cry about it. She observed, You make a product and put money into it. If the product doesnt work, that equity is at risk of losing money. Thats why everyone is insecure. Every conversation is about equity, forget gender or non-gender. Guneet Monga Kapoor continued, Everything boils down to math. I remember attending a masterclass by Yash Chopra in 2007. He said, 'The scripts never fail. The budgets fail'. Hence, money management is central to producing and so is expectation management. If you get the budgets right, there's no stopping. Guneet then surprised the audience as she revealed, My most profitable films are Pagglait (2021) and Kathal (2023). Our ROIs are huge. Even in the case of The Lunchbox (2013), the ROI is massive. But go outside and people would tell you 'Bina gaano waali picture bana di', forget saying, 'Bina hero ki picture bana di'! She ended her answer by stating, Hence, at the centre of this whole thing is maths. Lets not put gender in maths. Bigg Boss 20 New Promo: Salman Khan introduces Extra Jeevandaan twist for evicted contestants
The countdown to Bigg Boss Season 20 has entered its final phase, with JioHotstar unveiling a new promo on August 28. The latest glimpse features host Salman Khan introducing a new twist that could change the way eliminations play out in the upcoming season of the long-running reality show. In the promo, Salman talks about the fate of contestants who are evicted or eliminated from the Bigg Boss house. However, this season, elimination may not necessarily mean an immediate exit. The promo introduces a new lifeline under which eliminated contestants will be allowed to remain inside the Bigg Boss house for a fixed period, giving them an opportunity for a second chance. Salman refers to the new element as the Vardaan of Extra Jeevandaan, suggesting that contestants facing elimination could get additional time inside the house before their journey comes to an end. The development is expected to add another layer to the nominations and elimination process, while potentially changing the dynamics between contestants. The promos caption further hints at the impact of the new twist, stating, Double the chances, triple the drama! Tathas-two, meri jaan. The latest promo is not the first promotional video released ahead of Bigg Boss 20. However, it focuses specifically on the new Extra Jeevandaan element and gives viewers a glimpse of what they can expect from the format when the new season begins. Mallika Dua has extended her support to Kriti Sanon amid the ongoing social media conversation surrounding the actors recent Giva Jewellery campaign. Sharing pictures of herself in a contemporary saree look, the actor-comedian described her post as an appreciation for Sanon, while also making a pointed reference to the jewellery brand associated with the campaign. Sharing the pictures on social media, Mallika wrote, This is a @kritisanon appreciation post. She further added, -None of the jewellery worn here is by Giva, obv . Her post comes after Sanon faced criticism online over her appearance in a Raksha Bandhan-themed advertisement for Giva Jewellery. View this post on Instagram A post shared by M A L L I K A D U A (@mallikadua) Coming to the campaign, it featured Kriti tying Rakhi to her onscreen brother as well as her pet dog. While the concept of including a pet in the Raksha Bandhan celebration became a subject of discussion, sections of social media also criticised Sanons outfit in the commercial. The actor was seen wearing a white bralette crop top with a sheer sleeveless cape and matching pants. The campaign subsequently drew support as well, with several social media users questioning the practice of judging womens relationship with Indian traditions based on their clothing. Amid the discussion, the advertisement was taken down by Giva Jewellery. The latter also posted an apology note for the advertisment. However, before that, Sanon had also addressed the broader conversation around women, clothing and cultural traditions in a social media post. In the statement, the actress had defended the decision of tying Rakhi to the furball stating how their prayer and promise extends to dogs as well. She had also taken a stand against audience commenting on the outfit choice made in the advertisement.
