Alia Bhatt reveals one Mahesh Bhatt quirk that annoys her: Now I do the exact same thing
Soni Razdan is currently promoting her recently released film Om Ka Hari, but a recent social media post gave fans a glimpse into her family dynamic with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and daughter Alia Bhatt. On September 17, Soni shared a video of Alia, seemingly recorded after a screening of the film, where the actor was asked about one quirk of her father that annoys her. Alia pointed out that having a conversation with her father can sometimes become confusing because he has a habit of mixing up the names of people around him. Its very difficult to have a smooth, easy, free-flowing conversation when he forgets who he's talking to and then calls me Shaheen and then sometimes Soni and then some other people that I've never heard of and then does the same thing with everyone else, Alia said. However, Alia admitted that what once annoyed her has now become a habit she has picked up herself. She added, But lo and behold, the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, and now I do the exact same thing. So what's annoying is I've picked up on this quirk, and I've become this quirk. The conversation took another affectionate turn when Alia was asked when she had last told her father that she loved him. Instead of answering from memory, she decided to call him. Mahesh Bhatt happened to be at the same premises, at a preview theatre, and Alia called him on the spot. She then told him, I love you daddy. That was the last time. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Soni Razdan (@sonirazdan) Alia Bhatt on Mahesh Bhatts theatrical side Alia has previously spoken about her fathers distinctive personality and the memories she associates with growing up around him. In an earlier anecdote, she recalled how Mahesh Bhatt would use dramatic gestures to make ordinary moments memorable. My father is very theatrical and that sometimes makes for great memories. For example, when I was in 1st standard, I had a spelling test and I was worried I was, for some reason, going to forget the spelling of the. My father made it a point to build into my memory, so he did some overbearing gesture to teach me the spelling so I dont forget it. But I remember him being this, like, grizzly bear, highly theatrical and highly entertaining, she had said. Soni Razdan is part of Om Ka Hari, which releases theatrically on September 18. Directed by Harish Vyas and backed by First Ray Films, the film stars Anshuman Jha and Raghubir Yadav in the titular roles of Om and Hari. Alia Bhatt has often spoken about how motherhood changed her life, and in a 2024 interview with Allure, the actor opened up about some of her most memorable moments with daughter Raha. From describing her daughters birth as the most precious moment of her life to recalling the playful competition between her and Ranbir Kapoor over Rahas first word, Alia offered a glimpse into their family life. Alia Bhatt recalls Ranbir Kapoors fight over Rahas first word While talking about Rahas early milestones, Alia revealed that she and Ranbir had a rather adorable disagreement at home over whether their daughter would say mama or papa first. The backstory is there was a fight at home (about) Whether she is going to say mama first or whether she is going to say papa first. So, of course, mama was like (say), mama, mama, mama, and papa was like (say), papa, papa, papa. And when she said that, it was just me and her, I immediately pulled out my phone and said, say it say it again, what did you just say. Raha eventually said mama first, much to Alias delight. The actor also revealed that she made sure to capture the moment on camera, giving the family a permanent record of the milestone. She added, We take great joy and pride in that moment. So, I remember that moment very clearly and I have it on video. So anybody who needs proof, she said mama first. Alia calls Rahas birth the most precious moment of her life In the same interview, Alia also opened up about the day Raha was born, describing it as an experience she would never forget. Alia said, Ill never forget in my life, no matter what happens, is the day our daughter was born. I wont forget the moment where we first heard her sound. It was unreal. When I heard her voice, I felt like I had met God or something. It was so emotional, sort of surreal. The minute she was put on to me, I just felt an immediate dam of love sort of burst open in our life and it just felt safe and it felt like my purpose had been met. (Ill) never ever forget that day. Alia and Ranbir welcomed their daughter on November 6, 2022. Since then, the couple have largely kept Raha away from the spotlight, while occasionally sharing glimpses of their family life. Sara Ali Khan gives a peek into her New York Day off and the most New York things she does!
Sara Ali Khan is in New York for Fashion Week, where she is set to attend the Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 runway show. Ahead of the showcase, the actor spoke to Lifestyle Asia India about her approach to fashion, the pieces currently inspiring her, and how she likes to spend her time in the Big Apple. For Sara, personal style is less about following a fixed set of fashion rules and more about letting individuality take the lead. When asked about a fashion rule she has stopped following, she shared a simple philosophy: Impress other people, express yourself is my new one. She also believes that an outfit should complement the person wearing it rather than become the focus of attention. Just don't let the outfit wear you, be yourself in whatever you wear and then your personality will come through is what I think, Sara said. Sara Ali Khans current fashion moodboard While Sara has experimented with vibrant and colourful looks over the years, her current fashion moodboard is taking a more understated direction. The actor said she has been enjoying minimal silhouettes and a more restrained colour palette. Minimalistic, monotones, I'm enjoying that. I've done so much like colourful shock and awe in my life that it's kind of nice to do some basics, she said. Her current preference also reflects her broader approach to fashion. Rather than building her wardrobe around every new trend, Sara said she prefers dressing in a way that feels comfortable and authentic. I don't never really follow trends, I think just be yourself and be comfortable in your own skin has been what I do, she said. From fashion staples to everyday favourites When it comes to the pieces she is most drawn to, Sara has a soft spot for practical wardrobe staples. Asked about her biggest fashion weakness between shoes, bags, jewellery and jackets, she picked two. Well, I love winter jackets and I like tote bags, so it's between the two depending on where I'm going, she said. For the one fashion piece she believes everyone should own, Sara chose a classic from the brand she is set to watch on the runway. I think a Tommy Hilfiger cable net, she said, referring to the label's cable-knit style. What would be on Saras fashion soundtrack? Fashion and music often go hand in hand, and Sara took a personal route when asked what song would accompany her outfit for the evening. My outfit tonight, I don't know something like reminds me, maybe my Columbia school anthem, she said. The answer is also a nod to her connection with New York. Sara studied at Columbia University and has previously spoken about her time in the city. Sara Ali Khans Perfect New York Day For Sara, a day off in New York is not necessarily about ticking off tourist attractions. Her ideal day involves a mix of exercise, food and plenty of walking. Barry's Boot Camp, Whole Foods, Mamo, walking, more walking, some desserts, some more Mamo, then you're too tired for Barry's Boot Camp, she said. Having lived in the city, Sara also finds that some of the most quintessentially New York experiences are the everyday ones. Asked about the most New York thing she has done on this trip, she said, I've lived here, so I don't know like what the most New York thing is, like take a subway, talk to a stranger, eat a pizza on the road, just these things. From keeping her fashion moodboard minimal to choosing comfort and individuality over trends, Saras approach to style appears to be rooted in making fashion work for her rather than the other way around. And as she heads to the Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 showcase, her current fashion philosophy seems to be less about making a statement for others and more about expressing herself. Alia Bhatt joins Dont Be Shy cast for Re Bawri music video ahead of Prime Video premiere
Prime Video has released a new track from its upcoming coming-of-age film Dont Be Shy, with Alia Bhatt joining the films young cast in the music video for Re Bawri. The song brings together Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati with Alia in a college setting, capturing the films themes of friendship, spontaneity and growing up. Presented by T-Series, Re Bawri has been composed and produced by Ram Sampath, with lyrics by Saveri Verma and vocals by Sona Mohapatra. The upbeat track revolves around the idea of letting go of overthinking and embracing the unpredictable moments that come with youth, friendships and relationships. The accompanying music video features Alia Bhatt alongside the lead cast. Set in a college environment, the video begins with what appears to be a regular day before turning into an impromptu dance sequence. The track uses the setting to highlight the camaraderie between the characters and the youthful tone of the film. Sona Mohapatra said, Re Bawri has that infectious, carefree quality that makes it impossible to sit still. Its playful and energetic and celebrates those moments when youre with your friends with music in the background and nothing else really matters. Seeing Alia and the cast bring that energy to the music video was such a joy to watch, and I think they capture the spirit of the song beautifully. I had a lot of fun bringing that spirit into the song, and I hope it makes listeners want to get up, dance, and be a little bawri themselves. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sony Music India (@sonymusicindia) Dont Be Shy follows Shyamili Shy Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her life planned out until an unexpected turn of events disrupts her plans. The makers of Drishyam: The Conclusion have released the first song from the soundtrack, titled Vingansa, offering a musical preview of the tension and retribution at the core of Vijay Salgaonkars story. Arriving after a gripping trailer that reintroduced Ajay Devgn as Vijay and brought in Jaideep Ahlawat as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, the song underscores the mounting pressure around Vijays long-guarded secret. The title Vingansa draws from the Portuguese word vingana, meaning revenge, and the composition leans into that emotion with a dark, brooding soundscape. The track is built around themes of anger and confrontation, suggesting a world where old wounds remain raw and vengeance now runs parallel to the pursuit of truth. Composer Ravi Basrur said, With 'Vingansa', I wanted the music to feel like the pressure was slowly building. There is a lot happening beneath the surface in Vijay's world, and the music needed to carry that without becoming too loud or obvious. Siddharth's voice has that rawness and intensity which worked beautifully for the song. Aamil's words also gave me a strong emotional space to build the composition around. Lyricist Aamil Keeyan Khan said, This composition by Ravi Basrur ji was so catchy and yet so peculiar that it demanded an equally peculiar word. 'Vingansa' is a Goan word that comes from the Portuguese word for revenge or vengeance. Revenge in this story is not simply about anger; it comes from everything these characters have done and carried with them for years. I wanted the lyrics to have that weight. The song had to feel like it belonged to the world of Drishyam, where every action has an equally terrifying reaction. Singer Siddharth Basrur said, When I heard the composition, I immediately felt that this song needed a certain rawness. It couldn't sound too perfect or too controlled. There is a lot of aggression and emotion underneath 'Vingansa', and I tried to keep that feeling alive in the vocals. Ravi's music already had so much intensity that my job was really to get inside that emotion and let the voice carry it. With 'Vingansa', the franchise gives audiences its first musical window into the concluding chapter, where every secret carries a cost and every decision could tip the balance. The film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on October 2, 2026. Drishyam: The Conclusion is presented by Star Studio18 and directed by Abhishek Pathak. Produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, with Sanjeev Joshi as co-producer, the ensemble features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant. The song is available now across streaming platforms via Sony Music India. Amazon MGM Studios Phoolan, written and directed by International Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, received a standing ovation following its World Premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 17. The Hindi action drama was screened in the festivals Special Presentation section at the Princess of Wales Theatre before an audience of more than 2,000. Starring Sneha Kumari in the titular role, the film features Anurag Thakur, Vikram Pratap Singh, Aakash Dahiya, Prateek Pachouri and Dev Dutt Budholiya in pivotal roles. The film focuses on a defining period in the life of Phoolan Devi, with its story centred on a 48-hour siege involving an armed group of 2,000 men. Phoolan is based on Phoolan Devis autobiography, I, Phoolan Devi: The Autobiography of India's Bandit Queen, published by Editions Robert Laffont. Rather than covering her entire life, the film focuses on a specific chapter, exploring the experiences that shaped her before she became a widely known figure. Speaking about the World Premiere, writer-director and producer Richie Mehta said, Phoolan Devi's story is one that demands to be told with honesty, and without compromise. I was drawn to a very specific chapter of Phoolan's life, the formative years before the world knew her name, contrasted with the period where she was a misunderstood legend. It felt essential to me to strip away the mythology and reveal the human underneath. The themes at the heart of her story resilience in the face of adversity, the search for dignity, and the courage to claim one's own voice are timeless. They resonate just as strongly today as they did then, across cultures and geographies. That is why this felt like the right moment to bring her story to the screen. From Poacher to Phoolan, Amazon MGM Studios has been a true creative collaborator, one that backs a filmmaker's vision and gives stories like these the global canvas they deserve. To witness the audience at TIFF rise to their feet, visibly moved, tells me that Phoolan's story has connected in exactly the way we hoped it would. I hope I have done justice to her voice and her story, the way she wanted the world to know. Shilangi Mukherji, Director & Head of SVOD Business, Prime Video, India, said, Our relationship with Richie Mehta goes back to Poacher, a fiercely personal project that became one of our most critically acclaimed Indian Originals. What defines Richie is his unwavering commitment to truth. He doesn't sensationalize; he tells stories with a quiet, unflinching honesty that stays with you long after the credits roll. With Phoolan, backing his vision was instinctive. At Amazon MGM Studios, we believe in the conviction of our filmmakers and their creative freedom to tell stories honestly and Richie exemplifies exactly that. Phoolan is one of those stories carrying a universal theme that transcends borders and languages. We are excited for audiences to experience this film in an authentic way. Shareen Mantri, Producer, Namah Pictures, said, Phoolan is an incredibly special film for all of us at Namah Pictures, and seeing it premiere at TIFF is both emotional and a moment of immense pride. This is a story that has lived in our hearts for a long time, a story of courage and the strength of the human spirit. Richie Mehta has brought such honesty and sensitivity to every frame, and Sneha Kumari has delivered a truly remarkable performance as Phoolan that I believe will resonate deeply with audiences, said Shareen Mantri, Producer, Namah Pictures. What makes this collaboration special is how each partner brings something distinct to the table. Namah Pictures' deep connection to Indian stories, Richie Mehta's nuanced and sensitive filmmaking, and Amazon MGM Studios' ability to bring meaningful cinema to a global stage, together, creates the right home for a story like Phoolan's. Watching people at TIFF connect with her story reminded me why we made this film. There are stories that belong not just to one person, but to all of humanity. Phoolan's life, defined by courage, dignity, and an unbreakable will to survive, is one such story. It is this universality that drives us to carry her narrative forward, using her story as a guiding light for storytelling that truly matters. The premiere was attended by the films cast and creative team, including Sneha Kumari, Anurag Thakur, Aakash Dahiya and Vikram Pratap Singh. Richie Mehta was joined at the event by producers Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kanwal Kohli and Kishor Arora of Namah Pictures, along with Shilangi Mukherji representing Prime Video, India. Produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Kanwal Kohli and Richie Mehta, Phoolan is a Namah Pictures production. Following its TIFF premiere, the film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide at a later date.
