On September 2, Tata Trusts launched Vajood Rahe Maujood, a film aimed at raising awareness about dementia. It features Geeta Agrawal Sharma, known for Laapataa Ladies (2024) and 12th Fail (2023), as a mother displaying the early signs of dementia, while Priyanshu Painyuli plays her son and primary caregiver. The seven-minute film is touching and, more importantly, conveys its message in an innovative and impactful manner. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Geeta Agrawal Sharma and Vajood Rahe Maujoods Creative Chief, Writer and Director, Keigan Pinto, also a veteran advertising and creative professional, spoke about the film, its important message and a lot more. How has been the response to Vajood Rahe Maujood? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: Its been very positive. The film tackles a sensitive subject. The interesting thing about short films like these, which last just five to six minutes, is that one can watch them instantly. Many people even watch them on repeat. Hence, they reach a lot of people very quickly. With feature films, many feel, Time nikal ke dekhenge. We dont have that disadvantage here. Moreover, the subject of a short film also manages to reach people faster. The subject was great and it was written beautifully. Im glad its getting its due! The idea is fascinating a son reciting a poem to her mother about her condition. How did you lock the concept? Keigan Pinto: Loss of identity, or vajood, is a scientific reality in dementia. For campaigns like these, the ideas usually come through a strategy team. I am, of course, on the creative side; hum log science ko art mein badalte hain. The scientific insights tell us what we need to write and create. One of the key insights we received was that dementia is vajood aur pehchaan ka mudda hain. We have all heard about Alzheimers and how it involves a particular kind of memory loss. Dementia can affect your abilities and your sense of identity as well. You are unable to hold on to your own self-image. So, I was asked to explore this idea of identity. As for the characters in the film, show me one mummy in the world who is not stubborn! Duniya ki saari mummyiyan adiyal hain (laughs). I was also inspired by my own mother. By Gods grace, her vajood is intact. In the film, the son chooses his mothers birthday to recite the poem to her. What he is saying is actually quite serious and terrifying. He knows that her symptoms have begun; he is scared for her, but at the same time, he loves her dearly. We also deliberately chose to make the caregiver a man. Usually, when we think of a caregiver at home, we imagine the beti or the bahu. Men often find it more difficult to express their emotions, and that was something we wanted to explore. Even in our film, he is struggling emotionally. He is shedding tears, but he continues reciting the poem. That dichotomy helped us create a stronger impact. Theres a lovely as well as a heartbreaking scene in the film, where your character forgets the word mic while narrating a story. Your performance is spot-on, as always. How did you prep for the part? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: I am seeing it around me. Kuch logon ko main khote hue dekh rahi hoon. Also, I myself forget things (laughs). I have crossed 50 and I misplace a lot of stuff. At times, I also forget certain words or names. As a result, it becomes embarrassing for me. You meet somebody and you cant tell that person that you dont remember who he or she is. So, you have to greet them warmly! This is one of the reasons why I hesitate to go to parties, kyunki mujhe log yaad nahin hain. Hence, I prefer to avoid them. If I have no option but to attend, I usually take someone along with me taaki woh mujhe bata de ki, Yeh hai kaun? (laughs). So, I do experience these things myself, even though I dont have dementia. But for those who have the condition, its embarrassing and even heartbreaking for them. It stops you. You want to be around people, but you cant because one of your abilities is gradually failing. Failing to remember words is one thing. Slowly, you deteriorate even more. How was it working with Tata Trusts? Keigan Pinto: Tata Trusts is the oldest formal philanthropic organisation in India. They are also among the very best when it comes to creating awareness around philanthropic causes. They undertake a wide range of projects and initiatives, whether in health or in other areas of philanthropy, and their approach is extremely scientific. What you eventually see is a commercial piece of art, but it begins with research, conversations with people and a deep understanding of the subject. Moreover, when it comes to the Tata brand, the sheer quality, integrity and commitment to serving India are unparalleled. It is probably one of the very few brands whose contribution to the country is unquestionable. We all have so much love and respect in our hearts for the spirit of Ratan Tata ji. This is my third project with Tata and its been a complete pleasure associating with them. Geeta ji, youve been a part of so many memorable and successful projects in the last few years like 12th Fail, Laapataa Ladies, OMG 2 (2023), Fighter (2024), Saiyara (2025), Ohh My Dog (2026), Satluj (2026), etc. Has life changed ever since? Do people now recognize you on the streets? Geeta Agrawal Sharma: Yes, it keeps happening. However, people tend to take your name and remember your name when you have a strong PR at play. Otherwise, what happens is that people do recognize me and my films, but they dont know my name. Nevertheless, its good that dheere dheere thodi bahut pehchaan ban toh rahi hain. Keigan Pinto: Id like to add that Geeta ji doesnt need a PR. When I decided to cast her and when I showed the film to people, let me tell you that everyone recognizes you. I didnt know how much content my mother consumes but she knew her. Though Geeta ji is in the world of mass media, I truly believe that quality doesnt need a PR. Even if she has a few hundred people on Instagram, it doesnt matter. Everybody knows Geeta ji. I humbly rank her as the number one female actor. She is the Bachchan saab of female actor today! What next from here on with regards to Vajood Rahe Maujood? Keigan Pinto: From the video perspective, there are still a few assets that havent come out yet. We also have some static communication planned, including posters. These will inform people about how dementia can be prevented and what they can do if they notice signs of the condition in a family member. As for the film, we hope it continues to grow and reach as many homes as possible. If it manages to bring about even some change, that is all we expect from it.
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajputs sister Shweta Singh Kirti has spoken about information she said she recently learnt from the person who conducted her brothers post-mortem report. In a video message, Shweta claimed that the post-mortem reportedly indicated the use of a gun and that Sushant had suffered injuries, including a broken leg and hurt eyes. Sharing what she said she had recently learnt, Shweta stated, We got to know recently that that post-mortem person who did post-mortem on Bhai told that there was gun use and his leg was broken and a lot of force was used on him. His eyes were hurt. Shweta also spoke about the emotional response she received from people after returning from Atlanta. She recalled meeting several people who expressed their grief over Sushants death and said, There were hundreds of you coming and hugging me and crying, crying for Bhai. You guys, all of you felt that what happened to Bhai was wrong. Reflecting on the difficulty of dealing with the loss of someone close, Shweta said that forgiveness can become particularly difficult when something happens to a loved one. She added that she did not want to allow anger or resentment to take over her life. But if it happens to your own somebody whom you love, you just somehow take a lot more courage to forgive. But look, I don't want to be consumed by hatred, by revenge, by resentment. I think the purpose of my life is to stand for love, for faith, for goodness and for God. Shweta further urged people not to lose their faith despite the unfairness and pain they may experience. And I don't want you guys to lose faith on God or in goodness. Please, please don't lose faith in God. There is unfairness in the world. Okay, I accept that. And maybe good people do have to go through a lot of pain. But pain is your way to transformation. Concluding her message, Shweta emphasised healing through love and said, So, let not your heart be consumed with negativity. And healing comes from love. I stand for love. And I hope you can stand with me for love, for God, for goodness. Sushant Singh Rajput died at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. His death was reported as an suicide, and the circumstances surrounding his death have continued to remain a subject of public discussion. Sandeepa Dhar recently spoke about what attracted her to Chumbak, saying that the way women are portrayed in the series was among the reasons she chose to be part of it. According to the actor, the show takes a different approach to comedy by giving its female characters an active role instead of limiting them to supporting parts. Talking about her decision to choose the show, Sandeepa said, I was interested in the show because women were not shown as stereotypical beings. Usually, in a comedy, the men have all the comic parts while women are just supporting characters. But that is not the case here at all. She pointed to Twinkle, played by Helly Shah, as an example of the series approach to its female characters. Here, we have Twinkle (Helly Shah), who is the forerunner of comedy in the show, Sandeepa shared. The actor also spoke about the effort to move away from conventional gender roles in the narrative. Were not showing women sitting and cooking or serving food to men. In fact, that is something Aatish has done very purposefully. He made sure that we are not following stereotypical gender roles, she said. Sandeepa added that the treatment of the women characters stood out to her while she was reading the script. Even when I was reading the script, I felt that it was really refreshing to see someone writing womens roles like this, she added. Through its female characters, Chumbak gives women an active presence in its comedy and moves away from some of the conventional portrayals often seen in the genre. For Sandeepa, this approach was one of the aspects that made the script stand out from the beginning. Lyricist Sameer Anjaan recently spoke about his experience of working with composer A.R. Rahman on The Legend of Bhagat Singh during an episode of Komal Nahtas Game Changers: The Music Series. The conversation focused on Sameers career, his approach to songwriting and some of the challenges he encountered while working on memorable film soundtracks. Komal Nahtas Game Changers: The Music Series features conversations with singers, composers and lyricists about their creative journeys and experiences in the Hindi film music industry. In the latest episode, Sameer Anjaan discussed his work across several decades and recalled his collaboration with A.R. Rahman. Sameer, who holds a Guinness World Record for being one of the most prolific lyricists in Indian cinema, revealed that writing for Rahman came with its own set of challenges. He worked with the composer on only one film, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, which was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and released in 2002. Recalling the experience, Sameer said, I found it difficult to write for AR Rahman. I have only worked with him on one movie, The Legend of Bhagat Singh. If you listen to the songs, you'll understand how difficult they were to write. The movie has become a legendary film, and there were some lines taken from the original words of the 'Shaheeds'. Reimagining and writing them was very difficult for me. It was a fun memory. The lyricist also explained that some portions of the songs were based on the original words associated with the martyrs depicted in the film. Adapting those words into songs while retaining their essence presented a creative challenge for him. His appearance on Game Changers: The Music Series offered a glimpse into the process behind the songs of The Legend of Bhagat Singh and his experience of collaborating with Rahman. Salman Khan has raised concerns over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence on social media, particularly the creation of fake videos and manipulated audio featuring public figures. During the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, the actor-host revealed that he has also been featured in AI-generated content and called for legal action against those who deliberately create and circulate such material. Salman was discussing the changing nature of bullying and eve-teasing, saying that such behaviour has increasingly moved to social media in the form of trolling. He stressed that people should be held accountable for the content they create and share online. Someone made an AI video, or did AI voice dubbing; that is wrong. AI has progressed so much that it's very scary. It's a very serious thing. You said something, and someone used AI to edit it and kisi ko gali bakdi. You know what they're doing? AI videos bana rahe hain yeh. Bahut saare logon ke (They abuse someone. Do you know what they're doing? Theyre making AI videos of so many people), and even I am there in the AI video, the host said. Salman Khan calls for legal action against AI video creators Salman also distinguished between people who may unknowingly share AI-generated content and those who intentionally create such videos while being aware that the material is fake. Now, people who don't know it is AI-generated content might post that Salman Khan was there. But those who know this reality and still created the video, what kind of people are they? Now those kinds of people should be put behind bars. Jab tak koi ek aadh, do aisa andar jaayega nahi na, tab tak yeh rukne wala hai nahi. There has to be a law that needs to be passed, and there has to be censorship on social media. And I am going to take this up very seriously. His comments come amid growing concerns around the misuse of AI to create manipulated videos and voice clips of celebrities and other individuals. Salman also pointed out that celebrities can approach cyber cells to trace the source of such content. Still, people without similar access or resources may find it more difficult to respond when manipulated content targets them. The actor's remarks add to his recent comments on online trolling during Bigg Boss 20. In an earlier episode, he had spoken against social media users targeting celebrities with personal remarks and body-shaming. What is Bigg Boss 20 about? Hosted by Salman Khan, Bigg Boss 20 centres on the theme of second chances. Contestants have been given an additional life that can help them remain in the game after facing certain setbacks. After making her mark as an actor, Shweta Tripathi has now taken on a new role of a producer. Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan marks her debut feature as a producer and also stars her alongside Tillotama Shome in the lead. Earlier this month, Shweta travelled to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival after being selected by WIF (Women In Film) India for the Gold House Pitch, a platform that connects selected filmmakers with international producers, financiers and potential collaborators. Representing India through the WIF India initiative made the opportunity even more significant for Shweta as she embarked on this new chapter of her career. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the talented and ever-energetic Shweta Tripathi opened up about her TIFF experience, turning producer with Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, and a lot more. You have been to film festivals in the capacity of an actor. This time, you went there to pitch your first film as a producer. How did that feel? This journey is very different for me as I am taking steps in this direction for the very first time. So, theres so much to learn and thats very exciting. Also, its not been easy. I have been planning for this for the last ten years (smiles). For a decade, I have been working on scripts with some very talented writers, whom I believe in. Their scripts are such that I sometimes question, Yeh film toh banni chahiye; yeh film ban kyun nahin rahi?. However, the purity of your intent is very important in such cases. You need to ask why you want to do it. And your reason has to be strong because this path is going to be difficult. Its exhausting and overwhelming to follow your dreams. But the fun lies in understanding how to navigate. Yes, you have some good ideas, but what do you do about it? So much is happening around you and amid all of that, you need to find your best-case scenario. Since I love food, let me give a food analogy! As actors, we are served with a thali. We taste the food in the thali and then we give our feedback. However, its a readymade thing that comes to us. Of course, once you sign the film, you begin a collaborative process with the director, the actor, etc. But as a producer, I get to decide whats on the menu. With the help of my HODs, I can decide ki yahan tamatar ki chutney jaani chahiye, ya dhaniya ki chutney jaani chahiye. Ya humein Harissa sauce chahiye! Once you take that call, everybody starts contributing to it. As a producer, you are enabling and cheerleading. That really makes me happy seeing people I believe in doing well. I have been producing plays and theres a lot of joy in it. In life, I am chasing joy, and through our storytelling, I also want to push emotional boundaries. I believe the role of a creative person is to disturb, question and unsettle. All these factors motivated me to become a producer. 150 projects were submitted and ours were one of the few projects that got selected at TIFF. It made me believe that I was in the right direction. The same happened when Tillotama Shome also liked the script. Later, when Juhi Chaturvedi also endorsed the script, it further added to my motivation. And TIFF, of course, was the icing on the cake. You should have seen me before the pitch meeting. I was like a student, with my notes and I was doing my revision again and again. After all, I have got this platform and I need to respect it. Of course, honesty is also paramount. If you are honest, people connect. It was also beautiful because Mirzapur was playing in Toronto at the same time, and the shows were housefull! Woh ek alag energy thi. Another lovely thing that WIF did was provide us with mentorship. Even while I was in India, we were connecting online with mentors from different parts of the world and learning from them about what works. As an actor, my journey has been very different, but I wanted to understand the things that are important when you step into the role of a producer. You get nine minutes to deliver your pitch, and in those nine minutes, you have to talk about the story, budget, intent, motivation and everything else that matters. The mentorship initiative really helps you prepare for that. In a way, its like climbing a mountain. But thats also what makes it exciting; yeh pahad chadhne mein aapko mazaa bhi aata hai! It also goes without saying that I love film festivals. Thanks to Masaan (2015), Haraamkhor (2017) and other films, my entry into the industry happened through the festival circuit. I had never been to TIFF before, though I had attended several other film festivals as an actor. This experience has left me completely charged up. I want to build a community of people who keep pushing the boundaries of emotion and storytelling. Whos going to be cast in Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan and whos going to direct it? The writer and director of the film is Sanjoy Nag. He made a National Award-winning film, Memories In March (2011). Tillotama Shome and I will be in the cast. Its a love story of two women. Now, we are just looking for people to support our endeavour. Its a lovely and simple story and its important to tell such human stories, especially in these conflicting times. I dont think there are enough such stories. You seem to gravitate towards queer love stories. You produced a play, Cock, which also had an LGBT theme Yes. I really believe in love. Love is love, and your gender, class, religion or orientation shouldnt matter. Love is beautiful and pure, and that should be celebrated. Hum uspe kyun paabandiyaan daal dete hain? That pains me. At the end of the day, love is something beautiful, and we should come together to help it grow. If we do that, everybody benefits. Giving love is bound to bring you happiness. So why complicate it? Dhruv Tripathi is set to make his feature directorial debut with Reporting Live, an investigative thriller set against the world of journalism. The film stars Parineeti Chopra and Deven Bhojani in the lead roles and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 9, 2026. Co-written and directed by Tripathi, Reporting Live follows an ambitious young reporter and her cameraman as they investigate what initially appears to be a straightforward story. Their reporting eventually leads them into the world of illegal sand mining, putting them in conflict with powerful forces that are determined to prevent the truth from coming out. The film also features Adil Hussain, Amol Palekar and Shekhar Suman as part of its ensemble cast. Set within the journalism landscape, the thriller explores the risks involved in pursuing a story while focusing on characters who find themselves dealing with circumstances beyond their control. For Tripathi, the film marks the culmination of a seven-year journey. He developed and wrote the story with Mihir Jadhav before bringing it to the screen as his first feature film. Speaking about his feature debut, Dhruv Tripathi said, It feels incredibly special to finally announce Reporting Live. Ive lived with this film for seven years, from writing it with Mihir to bringing it to the screen, so seeing it ready to go out into the world is quite surreal. I wanted to make a thriller that feels grounded and real, while never losing sight of the ordinary people at the heart of the story. Ive been incredibly fortunate to make it with a wonderful cast and crew who brought so much to the film, and Im really excited for audiences around the world to experience it on Netflix. Tripathi is a graduate of the London Film Schools MA Filmmaking programme. Before moving to feature filmmaking, he wrote and directed short films including 10x10ft and Intezaar. His short films have been screened at international film festivals and have received awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay.
