Tamannaah Bhatia joins Joy Personal Care as face of its lotion and cream range
Tamannaah Bhatia has added another brand association to her growing portfolio. The actress has been named the face of Joy Personal Cares lotion and cream portfolio, with the partnership led by the brands Honey & Almonds Deep Nourishing Body Lotion. The association will see Tamannaah feature in a multi-platform campaign spanning television, digital and social media. The campaign is built around Joy Personal Cares Beautiful by Nature philosophy, which looks to move away from conventional ideas and definitions of beauty. Speaking about the association, Sunil Agarwal, co-founder and chairman, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), said that the brand has grown from a homegrown skincare name into a larger personal care player while retaining its focus on what consumers value. He described the partnership with Tamannaah as an important step as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the lotion and cream category and connect with a new generation of consumers. Agarwal also highlighted the role of the Honey & Almonds Body Lotion within the brands lotion portfolio. According to him, the association with Tamannaah gives the brand an opportunity to build on the products existing equity while bringing a fresh perspective to the category. He added that the companys focus remains on products that combine quality, relevance and affordability for Indian consumers. Poulomi Roy, chief marketing officer, Joy Personal Care (RSH Global), spoke about the thinking behind the campaign and said that beauty has often been presented to women through a narrow lens, defining how they should look and what they should aspire to be. She explained that Beautiful by Nature seeks to challenge that idea and encourage women to embrace their individuality rather than conform to a particular mould. Roy further said that Tamannaah brings the philosophy to life through her individuality, personal journey and ability to remain true to herself while continuing to evolve. For Tamannaah, the association comes from a more personal understanding of beauty. The actress said that she has always appreciated how beauty can have a different meaning for different people. She added that, over the years, she has learnt to embrace that perspective and enjoy the journey instead of chasing an idea of perfection. According to Tamannaah, this approach was among the reasons she connected with Joy Personal Care and was keen to bring the thought behind the campaign to life. Aamir Khan to be honoured with Screen Icon Award at Singapore International Film Festival
Aamir Khan is set to receive the Screen Icon Award at the 37th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF). The actor-filmmaker will also attend a special screening marking the 25th anniversary of his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. Aamir will attend the screening of the 2001 period sports drama with director Ashutosh Gowariker. He will also participate in the festivals In Conversation With series, Variety reported. Set in 1893 during British rule in India, Lagaan follows the residents of a small village who face heavy taxes imposed by a British officer. With their livelihood at stake, the villagers agree to play a cricket match against the British in an attempt to escape the tax burden. The film stood apart from mainstream commercial cinema with its period setting, unconventional storyline and lengthy runtime. It went on to receive both critical and commercial success. Lagaan was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2002 Academy Awards, but lost the award to the Bosnian film No Man's Land. The Singapore International Film Festival will take place from October 21 to November 1 and will feature several filmmakers and actors from across Asia. Among those attending are Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda and Hong Kong actor Anthony Wong. The festival will open with the South Korean political thriller The Assassin, starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho. Director Hur Jin-ho and cast members Shim Eun-kyung and Park Sung-hoon are also scheduled to attend the opening. Kore-eda, whose filmography includes Nobody Knows, Like Father, Like Son, Monster and Palme dOr winner Shoplifters, will receive the festivals Cinema Honorary Award for his contribution to Asian cinema. His latest film, Look Back, will have its Southeast Asian premiere at SGIFF. Adapted from Tatsuki Fujimotos one-shot manga, the live-action film follows two girls whose shared interest in drawing manga leads to a friendship as they grow up. Vikram Singh Chauhan is set to take on a leading role on the silver screen with Pooja Meri Jaan, a crime thriller that explores rejection, obsession and the impact of toxic relationships. The actor will be seen alongside Mrunal Thakur, Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz in the upcoming film. For Vikram, the project presented an opportunity to explore a character that goes through several emotional and situational shifts as the story progresses. Talking about what drew him to Pooja Meri Jaan and his role in the film, Vikram Singh Chauhan said, Pooja Meri Jaan was an interesting film for me because of the kind of character I got to play. There are a lot of emotions involved, and the character goes through different situations that slowly change the way you look at him. I enjoyed working on those parts because they gave me a chance to do something different from what I have done before. The film delves into the ways people respond to rejection and how a single situation can affect relationships and perceptions. Vikram's character is placed in circumstances that allow the story to explore different shades of these emotions, making his journey an important part of the narrative. Elaborating on his experience of working on the film, Vikram said, What I found interesting about the film was the way it deals with rejection and the impact it can have on people. The story does not look at these emotions in just one way, and that made it more engaging for me. While working on the film, I tried to understand where my character was coming from and what was driving his actions. It was a challenging role in some ways, but I really enjoyed the process. Pooja Meri Jaan follows Pooja, a young woman who becomes the target of an obsessive admirer. The film explores stalking, obsession and rejection, while also examining the consequences that can emerge from toxic relationships. The Lust Stories franchise has evolved over the years from a collection of provocative stories about female desire into an anthology that explores intimacy, relationships and the complexities surrounding desire from different perspectives. With the third instalment now streaming, producer Ashi Dua has revealed that the latest edition contains subtle connections between its four stories that viewers may miss if they are not paying close attention. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Ashi explained that the filmmakers have introduced small elements through which characters from one story appear in another. According to the producer, these crossovers have been designed to blend naturally into the individual narratives rather than being presented as obvious connections. I don't want to really say much. I really hope everybody watches it, but we've tried to have these small little elements which you will notice in the four stories of our characters travelling a little bit in each other's stories very absolutely smoothly. You may miss it if you miss it by a minute or you may not, she said. Ashi added that the team would like to develop this idea further if they get the opportunity to make a fourth instalment. However, she acknowledged that creating a more interconnected anthology would require considerable coordination between the filmmakers. So, we've tried to do that, and hopefully if we get an opportunity to make the fourth one, we'll have it more intertwined with each other. It takes a lot because then all four directors have to write and shoot at the same time. Yeah. But we'll try. We'll try. We have to take it to the next level, she added. Ashi Dua on how Lust Stories changed perceptions around female desire During the conversation, Ashi also reflected on how the perception of the Lust Stories franchise has changed since the first instalment arrived in 2018. She recalled that casting the original film was not as straightforward as it may appear today, despite having filmmakers such as Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee attached to the project. According to Ashi, actors gradually became more comfortable with the franchise after understanding that its intention was not simply to provoke audiences or objectify women. Instead, the stories aimed to explore female desire and give the characters perspectives and motivations beyond their sexuality. I think when people and actors realize that we are what we are, we are not just doing this to titillate anybody. Everybody's presented really well. Every character has something that they're trying to say. It's not just putting women out there or objectifying them. That's really not what the filmmakers, us, or what the film is about. It's about speaking about the female desire which we've not been able to speak about for so many years, Ashi said. She recalled that casting the first Lust Stories was particularly challenging, even with its high-profile directors. In the first one it was very hard to cast, whether you believe it or not. I can imagine even though we had Zoya and Karan and Anurag and Dibakar, but it was hard to cast even that, she said. Ashi believes the response to the first instalment helped change the way actors viewed the project. She explained that performers became more comfortable with the material after seeing how the stories and characters were presented on screen. So I think after they saw that and they realized that this is doing things very differently is when now actors are more comfortable of course and also the comfort is between the director and the actor also. If the actor wants to work with that particular director and then the story where they feel like okay, we are comfortable doing this and we know we'll be shown in the right way is when they do it, she added. Lust Stories 3 continues the anthology format The third instalment follows the anthology format established by the first two editions, bringing together four filmmakers and separate stories that explore different dimensions of desire and relationships. The first Lust Stories, released in 2018, was directed by Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. The film explored themes including female sexual pleasure, marital dissatisfaction and social expectations, and was nominated for an International Emmy Award. Lust Stories 2, released in 2023, was directed by Sujoy Ghosh, R. Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma and Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Its stories explored desire through themes such as age, social expectations, domestic relationships and long-term commitments. The third instalment features stories directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj. The stories explore different forms of desire, including partner swapping, physical dependency within a failing relationship, transactional intimacy and repressed desire expressed through literature and fantasy. Preity Zinta has spoken about the challenges of making films in the current environment, saying that changing audience habits and the speed at which people react to content have made filmmaking tougher. The actress shared her thoughts while discussing her latest project Vibe in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. Talking about the changing theatrical landscape, Preity said, People are not going that much to theatres. So, its tougher to make films. The stakes are higher. And when you are making a film like this, which is very different, its not a formula. But not just this film; in general, I have seen that everybody is trying to make a film on a smaller budget and longer hours because now its not just a theatre, people are watching films online. People are on Instagram. They are doing everything. Preity also pointed to the way audiences respond to films even before they are released. According to her, social media has changed the process of forming opinions about a film, with reactions sometimes coming from the first visuals or scenes. She said, Everyone is so quick to judge. Earlier, people would go to a theatre, tell their cousins and friends to either watch or dont watch a film. But today, the first shot of your film comes out and people are already writing good, bad, ugly, giving spoilers before the film is out. That way, films have become very tough and difficult. No film is made in two days. You spend months making it. You work really hard. Her comments come at a time when filmmakers are working across theatrical and digital platforms, while social media has become an important part of how films are discussed and promoted. Vibe, written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, features Preity alongside Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava. For Preity, the changing viewing habits and immediate reactions on social media are among the factors that have added to the challenges involved in making and releasing films today. Fatima Sana Shaikh has spoken about the realities actors face while choosing projects, noting that financial responsibilities and limited opportunities can sometimes make it difficult for performers to wait for roles they genuinely want to do. The actor said that while artists may aspire to experiment with different characters, practical considerations often influence their decisions. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Fatima said, Hum log koi ameer ghar se to hain nahi (We are not from rich families). She explained that actors may have to make compromises and select the best opportunity available to them at a particular point in their careers. There are times when you have to compromise, and you choose what is best from whatever little comes to you, she said. Fatima also highlighted how an actor's options can change depending on the performance of their recent work. It is about timing, too. A show or a film works, and you get 10 others. If it doesn't work, your options get limited, she said. But you try to make the best of what you have. The actor further said that although performers often want to explore unconventional roles, they cannot always afford to wait for the ideal opportunity. However much you romanticise and want to do different kinds of things, you are not putting in the money. You aren't the producer. You need the money, she added. Fatima also discussed the availability of substantial roles for female actors. According to her, women continue to receive fewer layered characters compared to men. Ladkiyon ke liye ache roles bahut kam aate hain (Women get few good roles), the layered characters. The men get to explore their true potential as actors. They get the opportunities. She also pointed out that female characters are often placed into familiar stereotypes when they display morally complicated traits. Unfortunately, when women are shown to be grey, you are a vixen or a chudail. We are still stuck in that vamp stereotype. I hope that it changes because you can have a wonderful woman character who is also confused. But we haven't even reached there. Hopefully, we'll get there soon, Fatima said. Fatima is currently seen in Hunkkaar: The Roar, which released on JioHotstar on September 25. The show revolves around a schoolgirl's allegation of sexual harassment against a self-proclaimed godman, with Fatima playing ACP Jasleen Singh. Before that, I had done around 12-15 projects. But I got a lot of love from the audience from Farzi and now with Waiting Hai. Both these shows are very special for me along with the film Amaran. These projects have been very encouraging and motivating for me. But Farzi was the first show that put me onto the limelight. People noticed me on a major scale. Bhuvans on screen chemistry with Shahid Kapoor was one of the highlights of Farzi. Speaking about his off-screen bond with the star, he said, Our bond has become better in Season 2, on a personal level. During Season 1, we newly started knowing each other. But once you spend time together, the relationship matures with the person. This has happened with us too. I feel our relation has grown further in the second season. Shahid bhai ke saath mazaa aata hai. The second season of Farzi has been in the making since quite some time. When asked about the release plan, Bhuvan calmly said, Yaar, this is not in our hands. We knead the dough but we dont know when the cooked roti will arrive on the plate (laughs). The last leg will be finished in the coming days. I hope somewhere next year it should come. The journey also takes her to one of the oldest Armenian churches in the city, while she explores the history of the Gateway of India and the reason behind its construction. From navigating Mumbais narrow lanes to travelling in a local taxi, Richa explores the city through experiences that go beyond its familiar tourist landmarks. Talking about the idea behind Musafiri, Richa Chadha said, Mumbai has so many stories that we have grown up around but never really stopped to explore. With Musafiri, I wanted to discover those unique and unheard sides of the city and share them with people. I hope that even those who have lived in Mumbai all their lives will look at the city differently and feel like they are discovering a new Mumbai. Gauahar Khan has reacted to a recent moment involving Aasif Khan on Bigg Boss 19, questioning the actors comments about moustaches and masculinity. The Bigg Boss 7 winner said she found Aasifs remarks and his behaviour on the show disappointing, while also acknowledging his work as an actor. The discussion unfolded during the captaincy task in which contestants were required to put rejected stamps on fellow housemates. Gullu put the rejected stamp on Yung DSAs face and explained that he believed Yung was behaving as though he was running the entire house. He also took issue with Yung styling the moustaches of members of his group in the same manner, suggesting that Yung expected others to follow his preferences. Aasif Khan defends Yung DSA over moustache comment Aasif Khan, who received the majority of the rejected stamps during the task, defended Yung when the discussion turned to the moustache issue. Explaining why the moustache was significant to him, Aasif said, Hum naa Rajasthan se aate hain, yeh mooch humari pehchaan hai, aur muchmundo ko mardon mein consider nahi karte hum. Isliye daadi aisi hai. Aasifs statement prompted a reaction from Gauahar, who questioned linking a mans identity or masculinity to his appearance. She also expressed disappointment that Aasif, whom she described as a good actor, was showing what she considered narrow thinking on the reality show.
