Priyadarshan talks about Haiwaan, says Saif Ali Khan impressed him as a blind man, calls Akshay Kumar a psycho

Filmmaker Priyadarshan is returning with Haiwaan, a thriller that brings together Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in an intense cat-and-mouse story. The film marks Priyadarshans eighth collaboration with Akshay Kumar and his first project with Saif Ali Khan. As the director works on the trailer and reviews the films rushes, he has spoken about the experience of working with both actors and their contrasting characters. Saif Ali Khan plays a blind man in the film, a role that Priyadarshan says required no formal training. The filmmaker revealed that he gave Saif a simple instruction to understand the characters condition. No training, nothing, Priyadarshan said, explaining that when Saif asked how he should approach the role, he told him that he would explain it on the first day of shooting. Priyadarshan further highlighted the actors ability to understand the character and deliver naturally, he said, Saif made the character his own. I didnt have to explain much. He just listened, understood, and delivered beyond expectation. When he came to me, I told him to open his eyes, and without blinking, to think that he cannot see. Saif told me that he had never heard such a simple explanation before, the director recalled. Priyadarshan also described Saif as an actor who is constantly curious and asks questions while working. Comparing him to his granddaughter, he said, Like my granddaughter, Saif has questions every moment. He further praised the actors transparent approach to his work and said that once an actor trusts a directors vision, the collaboration becomes easier. The filmmaker is also exploring a different side of Akshay Kumar in Haiwaan. Unlike their earlier collaborations, many of which were comedies, the upcoming thriller features Kumar as a ruthless antagonist. Priyadarshan clarified that the character is not morally ambiguous but is a dangerous psychopath. Akshays character is not grey; he is a psycho in Haiwaan, Priyadarshan said. He added that their long-standing professional relationship has created a strong level of trust, allowing Akshay to perform without repeatedly questioning his direction. With Saif portraying a blind man and Akshay stepping into a dark role, Haiwaan marks a different cinematic collaboration for Priyadarshan and Kumar while introducing the filmmakers approach to Saifs performance. Anjana Sukhani recalls Amitabh Bachchan sending an umbrella and chair during an ad shoot; says, That speaks to his greatness

In a recent interview, Anjana Sukhani spoke about some of the most memorable moments from her journey in the industry, including an early experience working with Amitabh Bachchan that left a lasting impression on her. Recalling a chocolate commercial they shot together, Sukhani remembered not just the opportunity to work alongside the actor, but a small gesture of kindness that she said revealed his character. I was shooting a chocolate commercial with him, and I was very new to the industry, I had hardly done any work before that, she said. The commercial was shot at the Inorbit Mall parking lot in Malad, on a particularly hot and sunny day. While the set was being arranged, Sukhani stood to the side, unaware that Bachchan had noticed her standing in the heat. He sent an umbrella with his assistant and told him to give it to me. So, he stood there holding the umbrella and brought a chair for me to sit on, she shared. For someone who was still new to the industry, the gesture stood out to Sukhani, particularly because it came from someone of Bachchans stature. For Sukhani, the gesture meant far more than comfort from the heat, it was a reflection of who Bachchan is. He didnt need to do that. He is Mr. Bachchan, I am nobody. Even now, I am nothing compared to him. But that gesture, showing such care while I was standing in the sun, he sent a chair over. I think that speaks to his greatness. Only someone like him would do that, she explained. Sukhani also recalled a brief conversation with the actor after the commercial had been shot. When they met on a flight, he asked her whether she had seen the advertisement, which was about to air. At first, I thought, He recognized me, thats a big deal! Then he said it turned out really well, she recalled. Their paths crossed again years later on the sets of Department, where she watched him share the screen with Sanjay Dutt in a wedding dance sequence. Looking back at it all, Sukhani summed up what working alongside Bachchan has meant to her. I think once youve worked with him, or even just worked in his vicinity, I think your life is a success, she said. Sunny Deol credits Gadar 2 to help him recover from Rs 55 crores financial crisis: Even when I was in debt, I was very happy

Sunny Deol has opened up about a difficult phase in his career, including the financial troubles he faced after a string of films failed to perform at the box office. The actor, who has enjoyed a major career resurgence following the success of Gadar 2, recalled how changing dynamics in the film industry affected the kind of work coming his way. Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, Sunny reflected on the success of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Indian, both released in 2001. He pointed out that Indian had performed strongly at the box office, while Gadar went on to become an even bigger success. Along with Gadar, I also delivered Indian, which was a much bigger hit than Lagaan and all the other films of that time. It did two to three times of Lagaans business. Gadar did much more than that, Sunny said. However, the actor said his career trajectory changed soon after. According to him, the arrival of corporate studios also coincided with a shift in the way films were being made and cast. Suddenly, corporates came in, and the film industrys format began changing. But after that, I dont know why I wasnt getting the right subjects and makers, he recalled. Sunny Deol on the difficult phase of his career The actor subsequently appeared in several films that failed to make a significant impact at the box office. He also recalled the controversy surrounding his 2005 film Jo Bole So Nihaal, which was directed by Rahul Rawail. That film didnt go too far because of politics. So, we had to withdraw it because of certain issues. These days, when politics is entering films, that should not happen. Were not doing anything. Were just entertainers. Anyone says anything rubbish outside of India, but theres no censorship on that, Sunny said. The difficult professional period was accompanied by financial pressure. In 2023, reports emerged that a bank had issued an e-auction notice for his Juhu property, Sunny Villa, over alleged outstanding dues and interest amounting to around 55.99 crores. The loan was reportedly linked to his 2016 film Ghayal Returns, which Sunny produced. Looking back at the situation, the actor said he did not owe money to other individuals. The money I owed was all mine. I didnt borrow it from anyone. I didnt owe anyone anything. I just had to sell my own asset and pay back, he said. The bank subsequently withdrew the auction notice after the dues were addressed. Sunny's fortunes changed dramatically with Gadar 2, which released in 2023 and brought him back into the spotlight. The Anil Sharma directorial became one of the year's biggest Hindi hits. The success also helped Sunny navigate the financial difficulties he had spoken about. Despite the challenges, the actor said he never wanted to compromise on his personal choices simply for money. I cant do so many things for money. But to be very honest, Im very happy. Even when I was in debt, I was very happy. I was living my life, he said. Sunny is currently seen in his latest release, Batwara 1947, which hit theatres on August 14. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, features him alongside Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal. EXCLUSIVE: Abeer-Rohansh on Alpha and indie plans: This is less of a finish line and more of a beginning; Abeer reveals his War 2 experience: Hrithik Roshan left me awestruck, Jr NTR was electrifying, Kiara Advani was SO kind

The music score of Alpha was appreciated and interestingly, it was composed by two young, talented brothers 18-year-old Abeer and 21-year-old Rohansh. Interestingly, both are sons of Lalit Pandit of the iconic Jatin-Lalit duo and a fifth-generation representative of the esteemed Mewati Gharana. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abeer Pandit and Rohansh Pandit spoke about composing for the songs of Alpha, their other projects and a lot more. Abeer, you worked as an AD on War 2 (2025). How was the experience of working with Hrithik, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani and Ayan Mukerji? Any memorable experience from the set? Abeer: Honestly, it was a dream. My favourite actor in this world is Hrithik Roshan, and to be able to see him perform, especially because one of my favourite films of his was obviously War (2019), and then to see him be in the same world, in the same character, was honestly something that left me awestruck. I could actually see that happening in front of me. On the other hand, Jr NTR and Kiara performed with the electrifying energy that they used to bring to the set. And how both of them together had this synergy, and how they used to perform and absorb one another's energy, was really something that I could learn from. And obviously, Ayan being the great director he is, there was so much to learn under him that I could only be waiting to go there for more hours and understand what other things that I could take away. I used to always go back and tell Dad, These are the things I've learned. These are the new things that I could see. By the time Kiara came in, I was already on the journey for Alpha. But I did have one... I was there for one of the shoots where Kiara was there, and I remember her being so kind to the whole team. I remember her being so polite to the whole team. So, honestly, the experience of being an AD on War 2 really helped me understand how teamwork works, and how important it is for you to be in great chemistry with your whole team. Because that's when you'll understand... that's when you'll get the best results. And taking that leap from becoming an assistant director to a music composer in the same YRF universe is something that I feel really excited about. There was obviously a ton of responsibility, but I think the excitement and the love for music is what took over. Rohansh, you have performed on platforms like Indian Idol and the MAMI Film Festival. Please tell us more about it? Rohansh: This is a journey from before Alpha. Abeer and I both worked as musicians with Dad, assisted him and toured with him, alongside him during our learning years. So, both these performances were actually done with Dad. MAMI Film Festival was my first one, actually, and that was when I was in school. I remember being on stage with such big actors and the entire cast and crew of one of Dad's iconic films, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992). I had to play the keys, so I would practise day and night just to make sure that I didn't get it wrong on stage or make a mistake. And I still remember that feeling so vividly just before going on stage, being backstage and then seeing it all unfold. I think that was one of the first times I was on stage, and I realized, yes, this is something that I want to do. My love for performance is something that I would love to harness, and one day in the future, I would love to be on stage singing my own songs. So, I think that's a very cool memory that I have. Even Indian Idol was about performing one of the iconic works that Jatin-Lalit and Yash Raj Films have done together Chand Sifarish from Fanaa (2006). And yes, again, it was a very, very important and memorable day. Because again, it just goes to remind you that music is so beautiful, and something like this stays in people's hearts. And I think that through this process and through these years, my love for music really awakened. And yes, here I am, trying to walk the path of an artist, make music for the world to listen to, and hopefully cherish for the times to come. What next, and tell us about your journey in the independent music space? Rohansh: We're very happy that Alpha is finally out there. I think you work in silence, and then to see your work finally reach audiences through a big film like Alpha, which is part of the Spy Universe, I think it's a big, big start for Abeer and me. And we're very happy for the music to have finally reached the audiences. Having said that, I think this is less of a finish line and more of a beginning to a very long journey for Abeer and me ahead. And I think what we really prioritize is making music. I think the thing that we've realised about music is that it's about showing up every day. So, there's so much more music that we've worked on through the years, from the time we've been working together till today. And I'm very excited for everybody to hear the music that we've been working on. In our growing years, I think the independent side of music has also been something that we've been fascinated by and would love to explore. I think there's a different side of us altogether that we have musically, and otherwise, that we'd like to show people and just put it out there. And I think the independent journey is also about to kickstart very soon. It's a completely different side of music for us, and I hope people enjoy that bit of music as well. Abeer: Alpha has just gotten over and we're just feeling the love. And as Rohansh said, the independent space is something really exciting something that really excites Rohansh and me both. It's obviously coming from a different space of music. It's different from the Bollywood space and the music that we're making for Bollywood. We'll also have different sounds; we'll have a different take towards it. So, I won't reveal much, but I just want to say that it's a very interesting space and an interesting place to be in. So, Rohansh and I are really excited for people to hear our independent side as well. Also Read: REVEALED: Alphas music composers Rohansh and Abeer are the sons of Jatin-Lalits Lalit Pandit

Mihir Ahuja recalls how Lakshya inspired his dream of playing a uniformed officer; says, It genuinely felt like something I had been manifesting for years

Actor Mihir Ahuja is currently playing Flying Officer Baldy, one of four young Air Force officers, in the series Operation Safed Sagar. Ahuja said the role connects to a dream he has held since watching Hrithik Roshan in Lakshya. Ahuja said he was deeply inspired growing up by Lakshya and Roshan's journey from an aimless young man to a determined Army officer, and that the film shaped his own aspiration to one day play a uniformed officer on screen. He later shared screen space with Roshan in Super 30, which he described as the first time he met his idol, and the two also worked together on an advertisement. Speaking about the emotional connection, Ahuja said, I still remember watching Lakshya for the first time and being completely moved by Hrithik Roshans performance. It wasnt just the scale of the film, but the emotional transformation of his character that stayed with me. Somewhere, I always hoped that one day I would get to play a character that carried the same sense of purpose and responsibility. Hrithik has always been one of my favourite actors, and getting the chance to work with him in Super 30 was surreal because that was the first time I met my idol. Later, we also shot an advertisement together, and just watching him work from close quarters was an education in itself. Those experiences only strengthened my admiration for him. He further added, When Operation Safed Sagar came to me and I was offered the role of Flying Officer Baldy, I didnt have to think twice. It genuinely felt like something I had been manifesting for years. Wearing the uniform, understanding the mindset of an Air Force officer and being part of a story that honours our armed forces has been incredibly fulfilling. Looking back, it really feels like life has come full circle, from being inspired by Lakshya as a young boy to finally getting the opportunity to live a similar dream on screen. With Operation Safed Sagar, Ahuja takes on a role he described as both professionally significant and personally meaningful, one he said he had hoped to play since first watching Lakshya as a young boy. EXCLUSIVE: Preeta Mathur of Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya fame describes Batwara 1947 as a nice and engaging watch; but raises concerns over Shabana Azmis character dragged out: This doesnt give a good impression of Lahore

Director Rajkumar Santoshis Batwara 1947 recently released in theatres. Starring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi and Preity G Zinta in pivotal roles, the film is adapted from Asghar Wajahats classic play Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya. Theatre veteran Preeta Mathur, under her banner Ank Theatre Group, is known for staging the play since over 20 years. It is directed by her late husband and iconic film and theatre personality Dinesh Thakur. In the play, Mathur has been playing the character of the old woman, which is essayed by Azmi in Batwara 1947. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Mathur shared her take on the film based on the play they have been staging since over two decades. Its a nice film, she said. I liked it. Basically, the play revolves around the old woman. The conflict between the old woman and the family is shown more easily in the play. The film has a bigger canvas and there is Sunny Deol. The scenes between Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi were very nice. But the way the bond between the daughter-mother duo and the old lady develops, happens better in the play. A major difference Mathur felt between the movie and the play was the character of Mirza. Mirza in our play is from a very nice family in Lucknow and he is an ordinary man. But in the movie, Sunny Deol (who plays Mirza) is shown as a character who beats up 20-30 people alone, as if he is hitting matchsticks. He is shown as a He Man, which is difficult to digest. In the play, all are ordinary people. She added, Also, the film is more about the old woman and Mirza. The play is more about the old woman and the family. The play also mentions how the old woman helps the neighbours and others. They could have shown this in the film as well but they havent gone there. And they have shown Rams angle related to her missing son. The biggest area of concern Mathur felt was the scene where Azmis character is dragged out of her house, which isnt a part of the original play. It also doesnt give a good impression of Lahore as it shows its people dragging an old woman out of her house this way. I found that awkward. Although Pehalwan (Abhimanyu Singh) is a villain, but we found his ways awkward. Mathur also felt that the character of old woman in the play is stronger than the one shown in the film. Although this woman is old and looks weak, she has an inner strength. At the start, she tells them, Get out, this is my house. How can you just walk in? That strength isnt seen much in that character in the film. Shabana Azmi has played it differently. She is shown as an emotional soft woman. We have also shown her as emotional. We have also shown her sense of humour. But we have also shown her strength through which she can fight for her own rights, she said. Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya also goes into why Pakistan was created in the first place. The film totally avoids it, said Mathur. It seemed they wanted to be politically correct. In the play, we have also added slides in the end showing that riots have continued to happen (even after the partition). We have said that if you dont learn lessons from the history, it will keep getting repeated. The film could have also done that through the character of the poet (Ali Fazal). He could have touched upon political things. Hence, the character of the poet becomes a bit weak. In the play, that character (played by Aman Gupta) speaks a lot about politics and religion. The play also has a character of a Maulvi, who preaches secularism and practical thinking. That isnt the case with the film. Maybe, they felt it might create problems if they show the Maulvi saying that Hindus are as important as Muslims and we should look after them, like how we have shown in the play. But in the movie, the Maulvi is there but he isnt saying anything. Instead, Sunny Deol is seen preaching what Islam is, she said. However, despite these issues, Preeta Mathur generally liked the film. On the whole, I feel the film is nice. Its engaging. It also tells you a different story. I enjoyed it. I was emotionally moved also. It might not get the same status as the play as the characterization is better in it. But the film is still very engaging and a good watch, she said while signing off. Kangana Ranaut urges younger generation to watch Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata: It is important for them to understand that real heroism can exist in ordinary circumstances

Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has spoken about her film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and its message of looking at patriotism beyond conventional ideas of heroism. As the country celebrated Independence Day, Kangana said the film highlights the courage of doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and ordinary citizens who demonstrate bravery through their everyday responsibilities. In an exclusive conversation with The Free Press Journal, Kangana explained why she believes stories about unsung heroes are particularly important for younger audiences. She said patriotism should not be associated only with those defending the country's borders. I have tremendous respect for our armed forces and the sacrifices they make for the country. But patriotism has many forms, and I think we sometimes forget that. A doctor saving a life, a nurse protecting her patients, a teacher educating children, or an ordinary citizen standing up for what is right all of these can be expressions of love for your country. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is a reminder that the country is not only protected at its borders, it is also protected by people who do their duty with honesty and courage every single day. For me, that is a very meaningful message to take into and beyond Independence Day. The movie honours unsung heroes who chose service over self, she said. Kangana also stressed the importance of showing young people that heroism does not always come in extraordinary situations. She said, Young people are constantly surrounded by images of larger-than-life heroes. There is nothing wrong with that, but I think it is equally important for them to understand that real heroism can exist in ordinary circumstances. According to her, the people at the centre of the story did not set out to become heroes. Their actions became significant when they were faced with difficult circumstances and chose to act with courage and responsibility. Discussing why the film deserves a wider audience, Kangana said the story is not merely about an attack or a particular incident but focuses on human choices under pressure. At its heart, this is not just a film about an attack or one particular incident, it is about human beings and the choices they make when they are pushed to their limits, she said. She further expressed hope that audiences, particularly families, will watch the film together and develop greater appreciation for people who serve society every day. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is an attempt to bring one such story to audiences and make sure that these people are remembered, she added. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is now streaming on Zee5. Written and directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film also features Girija Oak Godbole, Smita Tambe, Suhita Thatte, Asha Shelar, Priya Berde, Esha Dey, Rasika Aghase, Amrutha Namdev, Aditya Mishra and Zahid Khan. Hustle 5: Agsy meets Mumbai local train performer Pooja Sharma

Hustle 5 - Apna Homeground has returned with a new season featuring rap battles, fresh talent and a new generation of voices. Badshah is back as the Rap Supremo, while former contestants MC Square, Paradox and Agsy have returned as Squad Bosses alongside EPR. The season brings together artists who once competed on the show and are now mentoring emerging rappers. With new squads and Squad Wars, the latest season promises a fresh take on the hip-hop competition. Hustle 5 airs every Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm on MTV and JioHotstar. As part of the season, Squad Boss Agsy, known as the OG Mommy of Hip-Hop, met Mumbai local-train performer Pooja Sharma, popularly known as Rekha. The meeting brought together two women who have created unconventional stages for themselves through their respective art forms. Agsy began her hip-hop journey in Delhi, with the metro playing an important role in her early years as she developed her identity as an artist. Pooja, meanwhile, has turned Mumbai's local trains into her performance space, entertaining commuters during their everyday journeys. Their meeting aboard the Hustle Express Metro connected these two journeys, taking Agsy from her Delhi metro memories to Pooja's Mumbai local-train experience. The interaction offered viewers a glimpse of Agsy away from the Hustle stage while highlighting Pooja's journey as a transgender woman and performer who has built her own space through talent and perseverance. During their meeting, Pooja taught Agsy some of her signature dance moves. The two also danced, laughed and exchanged stories about their journeys. Agsy also spoke about her ambition to take Indian hip-hop to a global audience. Talking about the collaboration, Agsy said, Theres something really powerful about meeting another woman who has created her own space without waiting for someone to give it to her. Pooja has made the local train her stage, and Ive found mine through hip-hop. Our journeys are completely different, but the hustle is very similar: showing up, being yourself and making people stop and listen. I loved sharing this moment with her. We danced, laughed, and exchanged stories, and it reminded me of the beauty of music and performance: you can connect with someone even when your worlds are completely different. Meeting her on the Hustle Express felt extra special because the metro has been such an important part of my own journey. Hustle 5 is currently streaming on JioHotstar and MTV India every Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm.
