Centre to set up coal exchanges to promote competitive markets as production rises

India plans to establish coal exchanges to foster competitive markets for surplus thermal fuel as production is projected to exceed 1.5 billion tonnes by 2030. The Coal Controller Organisation will register and regulate these exchanges, facilitating commodity trading.
