Bihars power transmission capacity gains landmark recognition with two national awards in Delhi
NEW DELHI: Once considered a power-starved state, Bihar is now gaining recognition for its sustained progress in the electricity sector. The Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) was recently honoured with two prestigious awards at the Powerline Trans-Tech India Awards 2025, marking a notable milestone in the states transmission infrastructure development. Presented at Delhis Yashobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), the awards highlighted the advancements made in Bihars electricity networknow regarded as a key indicator of the states rise over the past decade. With nearly all villages electrified and public electricity services established as among the swiftest in the country, Bihars power sector, under the leadership of officials such as Manoj Kumar Singh as CMD, has achieved significant progress. Speaking about the two awards, Rahul Kumar (IAS), Managing Director of BSPTCL, said, This award is a symbol of our teams hard work, dedication and technical excellence. Strengthening the states power infrastructure and ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply to every corner is our priority. We are committed to providing even better services in the times to come. According to an official statement, BSPTCL received recognition for the highest addition of 2,018 circuit kilometres of transmission lines (220 kV and above) and the highest addition of 5,260 MVA of transformation capacity (220 kV and above) in the Eastern Region over the past three years. These enhancements in transmission lines and transformer capacity have considerably strengthened Bihars overall power transmission network. The Powerline Trans-Tech India Awards recognise excellence in Indias power transmission sector. Winners are selected on the basis of data reported by the CEA, PFC and state utilities. Trans-Tech India is a leading exhibition and conference supported by the Ministry of Power, with more than 2,500 participants attending this year. These two honours represent a milestone in the development of Bihars transmission infrastructure. Securing top positions in both categories in the Eastern Region demonstrates BSPTCLs technical capability and its commitment to reinforcing Bihars power sector.
