WhatsApp bans 9,400 scam accounts, to roll out SIM binding

WhatsApp has banned over 9,400 accounts involved in digital arrest scams and impersonating law enforcement in India. This action was taken over a 12-week period starting in January. Most scam operations were traced to Southeast Asia, particularly Cambodia. WhatsApp is implementing SIM binding and new tools to combat these fraudulent activities.
