Sony halts Kumamoto chip plant operations after Japan earthquake

Sony Semiconductor Solutions' Kumamoto facility operations remain suspended following a powerful earthquake. The company halted production immediately after the tremor struck the region on July 28. Damage assessments to the building and manufacturing lines are currently underway. Other Sony technology centers in Nagasaki, Oita, and Kagoshima reported no significant damage. No employee injuries were reported at the affected Kumamoto site.
