SC allows cutting of 45,000 mangroves for Mumbai Coastal Road project

The Supreme Court has permitted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to cut more than 45,000 mangroves. This is for the proposed Versova-Bhayandar coastal road project in north Mumbai. The project aims to significantly reduce travel time and distance. The court noted the BMC's commitment to compensatory afforestation and mangrove restoration.
