Midterms may bring in wave of historic firsts for some states and the country

This midterm election may result in unprecedented leadership milestones across various demographics in the United States. Voters could elect the first Native American female governor and Black female governor, among others. Additionally, the country might witness its first Muslim U.S. senator and openly gay senator. While candidates from both parties promote diversity, some have avoided emphasizing their identities.
