Kim Jong-un dead or alive: Who will take North Korea leadership in case of death of country's supreme leader

North Koreas leadership succession has come under renewed scrutiny following online rumours about Kim Jong-uns death, which were contradicted by his reported public appearance on October 19, 2026. His daughter Kim Ju-ae has emerged as a potential successor, while his sister Kim Yo-jong remains an influential political figure who could feature in a leadership transition. The report examines the Paektu bloodline, the possibility of female leadership, questions about generational succession and the security apparatus designed to prevent coups. North Korea has not publicly confirmed a succession plan.
