Islamic State-linked militants kill at least 48 civilians in eastern Mali, sources say

Islamic State-linked militants conducted attacks in the Menaka region of Mali, resulting in at least 48 deaths. These attacks were reportedly in retaliation for prior abuses committed by pro-government forces against suspected informants. Civilians were forced to flee as attackers set homes ablaze and stole livestock. Mali has faced ongoing violence from Islamic State and al Qaeda affiliates, further destabilis ing the region.
