Delaware has successfully transformed dredged rock from a shipping channel into underwater habitats for marine species. This innovative approach supports the growth of blue mussels and enhances local ecosystems. The artificial reefs also contribute to recreational fishing and diving opportunities for the public. By recycling natural materials, the state has addressed habitat scarcity in soft-bottom marine environments. Overall, this initiative exemplifies effective environmental management through infrastructure projects.
