ICICI Lombard rejects Rs 50 lakh accidental death insurance claim, consumer court said insurers can't add new claim conditions. Here's what happened

A consumer commission ordered ICICI Lombard to pay fifty lakh rupees to a policyholder's nominee. The policyholder died in a road accident, and the claim was initially rejected. The insurer demanded additional documents which were not required at policy issuance. The commission ruled that imposing new conditions after policy issuance is impermissible. ICICI Lombard must also pay compensation and litigation costs within forty-five days.
