Former PM Deve Gowda's wife Chennamma passes away

Chennamma Deve Gowda, wife of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, passed away on Saturday. She was admitted to Manipal Hospital for a respiratory ailment and suffered a cardiac arrest. Chennamma was the survivor of an acid attack in February 2001. She married H D Deve Gowda in 1954 and had four sons and two daughters. Despite her prominent family, she largely stayed away from the public spotlight.
