Fine of up to Rs 1 crore for hill cutting to be imposed by Goa Town and Country Planning Board

Goa's Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board will now impose hefty fines for hill cutting. Violators face penalties starting at Rs 50 lakh, escalating to Rs 1 crore for repeat offenses. The government is taking stringent action to protect the environment. Citizens are urged to report any illegal hill cutting activities to the authorities. TCP minister Rane said that the state would act stringently against those who are destroying the environment.
