Europe reaches deal on phasing out Russian gas imports by 2027

The European Council and Parliament have agreed to phase out Russian gas imports by 2027, aiming to end energy dependency. This legally binding agreement includes a stepwise prohibition on LNG and pipeline gas, with a full ban by autumn 2027. Russia's share of EU gas imports has significantly decreased since 2022.
