DBT through Aadhaar to be must for central schemes

The government has mandated that all new centrally sponsored schemes will utilize Aadhaar authentication for direct benefit transfers, with payments routed through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System to boost transparency. Existing schemes continuing beyond April 1, 2026, must also adopt these digital and cashless mechanisms. This move aims to enhance public service delivery and promote a digital, less-cash economy.
