EXCLUSIVE: Udta Teer director Aakash A Kaushik opens up about writing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3; shares EXCITING update on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4: Theres one idea that I am very excited about

Aakash A Kaushik, who made his directorial debut with Udta Teer, has already established himself as a successful writer. Over the years, he has written films like FALTU (2011), Housefull 4 (2019), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024) and Bhooth Bangla (2026). Humour has been his forte, as evident from his previous work as well as Udta Teer, which he has also co-written. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aakash A Kaushik opened up about his writing career, his experience of working with Priyadarshan on Bhooth Bangla and Anees Bazmee on the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. Aakash A Kaushik said, I am very lucky that I got a chance to work with such legends. Anees bhai is like my elder brother. During Bhooth Bangla, I was busy making Udta Teer. Otherwise, I generally like to be on the sets. So, I wrote Bhooth Bangla and gave it to Priyan sir. Then, Rohan Shankar made the script better. Hence, I had limited interaction with him. But I had a good time and felt very happy working with him. Notably, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a sequel to his film. If he found me worthy of writing his next horror comedy, that was a big compliment for me (smiles). He added, As for Anees bhai, its been a great ride. Jitni mazedaar unki films hoti hain, utne mazedaar woh khud hain! Hes so full of energy, and its a treat working with both of them. Have Priyadarshan and Anees Bazmee seen Udta Teer? Aakash replied, Anees bhai has seen the film. I had shown it to him when it was not fully ready, as his feedback mattered a lot to me. Even then, he loved it. He saw the final product during the films premiere, and after the screening, he gave me a very tight hug. He said, I am very proud of you. Its successors, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024), starring Kartik Aaryan, were also hugely successful. Naturally, there is considerable anticipation for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4. When asked about the possibility of a fourth instalment, Aakash revealed, My career really took off with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. We are always discussing taking the franchise forward. The big USP of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa films is their twist. Other elements, like horror and comedy, are also important, but its the final twist that works the most. So, we had a great twist in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 as well as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Now, theres one idea that I am very excited about, and hopefully, well soon start work on that. He also spoke about his future directorial plans, saying, I have a couple of ideas that I am very excited about. I feel the one-line story itself has to be out-of-the-box. That needs to be exciting. I was searching for that one big idea, and I think I have it. I have already begun working on it. Once its completed, I hope to start approaching actors.
