Satellite launch facility plan poses a threat to Hope Islands ecosystem

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidus plan to develop a Space City and satellite launch facility on Hope Island, located in Kakinada Bay, has raised concerns about the safety of the islands conserved bird species and human inhabitants. The island has been classified as a Moderate Damage Risk Zone-III (MSK VII) region by the Coastal and Oceanic Island Database of India under the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management.
