Mamdani warns DoorDashs $17B Instacart bid risks price hikes after $131M settlement

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed dissatisfaction with DoorDash's acquisition of Instacart for $17 billion. This acquisition follows a $131.5 million settlement won by the city for wage violations by DoorDash. Mamdani highlighted the contradiction between DoorDash's spending and their previous wage underpayments to delivery workers. Approximately 264,000 Dashers will be compensated as part of this settlement. The mayor emphasized the need for ongoing support for workers against corporate giants.
