'Judit, Yifan were exceptions': Humpy urges women to play more 'open' tournaments

Koneru Humpy said only Chinas Zhu Jiner currently has the potential to break the 2600 Elo barrier and enter the Open world top-100 among women players. Humpy stressed that women need regular participation in Open tournaments to improve significantly. She also defended withdrawing from the Candidates event over safety concerns and called Indias chess rise a Tamil Nadu boom.
