Explained: Why Green will earn only Rs 18 crore despite a Rs 25.20 crore bid

Cameron Green became the most expensive overseas player in IPL auction history after Kolkata Knight Riders snapped him up for Rs 25.20 crore in Abu Dhabi. However, due to the IPLs newly introduced maximum fee rule for overseas players at mini-auctions, the Australian all-rounder will earn only 18 crore with the remaining amount diverted for player welfare.
