Assam govt forms panel to frame rules for implementation of Uniform Civil Code

The Assam government has created an eight-member committee to develop rules for the Uniform Civil Code Bill. This bill aims to provide a common legal framework for various personal matters across religions. It prohibits polygamy and mandates the registration of live-in relationships while exempting Scheduled Tribes in Assam. The committee is expected to submit its draft rules within one month.
