Kriti Sanon walks the ramp in Abhinav Mishras black mirror-work lehenga

Designer Abhinav Mishra unveiled INTO THE WILD 2026, his annual couture showcase, in Chattarpur, New Delhi. Set against a moonlit backdrop surrounded by greenery, the presentation featured actor Kriti Sanon as the showstopper muse. The collection explored the themes of nature, freedom and contemporary Indian couture, bringing together the designers signature mirror work, intricate craftsmanship and an exploration of silhouettes, textures and nature-inspired motifs. Inspired by the natural world, animals, organic forms and the spirit of exploration, INTO THE WILD 2026 moved beyond conventional bridalwear. The collection combined traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary designs, offering a fresh interpretation of couture through varied silhouettes and distinctive detailing. Lehengas remained central to the collection, alongside trench coats, structured high-collared jackets, wide-legged trousers, flared pants, layered wraps, three-piece ensembles, corsets, bustiers, kaftans, capes, high-neck tops and crop T-shirts. The designs brought together traditional embellishments and modern cuts, presenting couture through a more versatile and adventurous lens. The colour palette featured earthy olives, muted sage, deep browns, rich reds, black and dusty neutrals. Animal-inspired prints, oversized florals and nature-inspired markings added visual detail to the garments, while sculptural horse motifs emerged as a recurring design element. Mishras signature mirror work remained a key feature, complemented by metallic sequins, hand embroidery, Zardozi, beads, leather sequins, laser-cut details and other metallic embellishments. Metal accents, bells and intricate ornamentation further enhanced the interplay of texture, movement and light. The ensemble featured intricate hand embroidery, the designers signature mirror work, metallic embellishments and sculptural horse motifs, reflecting the collections combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Mishra has admired Kritis personal style and her individual approach to fashion. The actor has worn his creations on several occasions, including at her sisters wedding, in films and for special appearances. Her confident and contemporary fashion choices made her a fitting choice to represent the themes of INTO THE WILD 2026. Speaking about the inspiration behind the collection, Abhinav Mishra said, INTO THE WILD is inspired by animals, nature and the feeling of freedom. I wanted to bring that spirit into Indian bridalwear. Mirror work has always been my signature, and this time I have combined it with metallic sequins, distinctive motifs and prints. The collection feels a little adventurous, while still being beautiful and special for a bride. I wanted to explore how traditional craftsmanship could take on a fresh energy while remaining at the heart of what we do. Music also played a role in shaping the showcase. Mishra, who is involved in the creative direction, composition and production of music for his couture presentations, collaborated with ANHAD & TANNER for INTO THE WILD 2026. The resulting soundscape featured layered vocals, immersive textures and evolving rhythms. Developed under the designers creative direction, the music complemented the collections themes of wilderness and wonder, adding another dimension to the runway presentation. The events setting extended the collections inspiration into its dcor. Monumental deer installations and sculptural figures formed part of the visual arrangement, while shades of moss olive, forest green and deep chocolate established an earthy atmosphere. Firefly projections, carefully positioned shadows, branches, foliage and natural ambient sounds contributed to the immersive environment, translating the collections connection with nature into a theatrical setting. The showcase brought together several personalities from the fashion and cultural spheres. Designer and Mishras close friend Varun Bahl, Taiwanese pop icon Cheng Chang Fan, creators Mannat Sandhu and Mohak Narang, and models Sheetal Mallar, Archana Akhil Kumar, Alicia Kaur and Kanika Dev were among the special runway guests, alongside other attendees. Johnnie Walker Luxe Blended Water supported the event as Celebration Partner, while Rani Pink came on board as Dcor Partner. The creative events agency worked on the shows in-house dcor, translating the collections nature-inspired themes into an immersive visual experience. Rani Pink has also designed celebrations for personalities including Sonam Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Athiya Shetty. With INTO THE WILD 2026, Abhinav Mishra continued to explore new interpretations of Indian couture while retaining the design elements associated with his label. The showcase brought together signature mirror work and traditional craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes, expressive motifs and nature-inspired details, presenting a modern take on bridalwear.
