Denied 'safe seat' by National Conference, Congress opts out from contesting Rajya Sabha polls in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee will not contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections due to its alliance partner National Conference refusing a safe seat. The party's central leadership had requested one of the two seats going to polls separately, but the NC offered a seat under a common notification, which was deemed ot safe by Congress leaders.
