Tribals to be kept out of ambit of proposed UCC: Kiren Rijiju

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju assured that tribals in the northeast and other regions will be exempt from the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC), allowing them to maintain their traditional customs. He clarified the government's position, emphasizing that while the UCC aims for equal civil laws nationwide, tribal communities under Schedules 5 & 6 will retain their autonomy.
