Hundreds of baby whales have died off the coast of Argentina this year

This year, over 300 southern right whale calves have tragically perished along the coast of Argentina, prompting alarm among marine biologists. Initial investigations suggest a bacterial infection as a likely factor in the increased death toll. Rarely observed, adult and juvenile whale fatalities are also being reported. Researchers are exploring environmental shifts that may be affecting calf survival. Despite population recovery, the lasting consequences of this mortality spike remain unknown.
