Canada tests Bear-vision doorbell cameras to detect approaching polar bears

Researchers are trialling Bear-vision, an AI-powered system aimed at detecting approaching polar bears in Canada. This technology combines radar and cameras to provide advance warnings to communities about nearby bears. The trial occurs at a waste facility in Churchill, which has concerns due to bears searching for food. Climate change impacts polar bear behavior, increasing human-polar bear encounters on land.
