Sampath, nephew ofE.V.Ramasamy, enjoyed a special relationship withDMKfounderC.N.Annadurai.Before otherDMKleaders, he realised the futility of pursuing the demand for aDravidaNadu. He quit theDMKin 1961 and founded a party, which he merged with the Congress. Sampathsbirth centenary falls on March 6, 2026.
