Jharkhand education minister Ramdas Soren passes away during treatment in Delhi

RANCHI: Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren, 62, who had suffered a head injury after he fell in the bathroom at his residence early in the morning on August 2, finally succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Immediately after the incident, Soren was admitted to Tata Motors Hospital in Jamshedpur for treatment, but was referred to Apollo Hospital in Delhi for better treatment. Then he was airlifted from Jamshedpur Airport to Apollo Hospital in Delhi under special arrangements. Ramdas Soren had suffered a head injury after he fell in the bathroom. The information was confirmed by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) state spokesperson and former MLA Kunal Sarangi. Family members, along with Sarangi, were present at the hospital at the time of his death. Om Shanti. Ramdas Soren had suffered from kidney-related ailments before, and had been receiving treatment at Apollo Hospital in Delhi earlier also. Therefore, at the request of his family, it was decided to airlift him to Delhi. However, even after being admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi, his condition remained critical and was put on a life support system, with a team of multidisciplinary senior specialists closely monitoring his condition. Despite doctors efforts, his condition worsened, and he succumbed late Friday. Apollo Hospital authorities have also confirmed the death. His mortal remains are likely to be brought back to Jamshedpur on Saturday for the final rites. Ramdas Soren, who started his political career in 1980 with JMM, was counted among the prominent leaders in the party and was a sitting MLA from Ghatshila. After Champai Soren joined BJP, Ramdas Soren replaced him in Hemant Soren Cabinet. Hemant Soren made him a minister in his previous cabinet, projecting him as a prominant leader of Kolhan. After the 2024 Assembly polls, he retained his seat and was made a minister again.
